How htc dev unlock method Works
first of all , i don't like this method ( htc dev unlock method ) because it is tricky
this method unlocks some options for Bootloader ( Not All of them ) . htc dev site as i recall says unlocking your bootloader may or could void your warranty !!
the Boot.img and Bootloader are still locked , and of course the Radio area is still locked ( it is not the radio we flash to improve signal )
locked means those areas can not be over-written
it allows you to install Custom Roms , But what htc maybe forgot to tell you is that the custom rom should be using their htc Stock kernel in order to work without errors !!!!!!! . ( Otherwise for Roms with custom kernels , you have to install Custom Kernels in a certain Method to avoid errors like WiFi error !!!! )
this certain Method is to flash locked items ( like Boot.img that includes custom Kernel ) through fastboot ( i.e bootloader )

S-ON
htc dev unlock method does not give S-off , it only unlocks some options for Bootloader . so ,what you saw ( Unlocked and S-on ) is normal for htc method
Some mistakenly think that htc dev unlock method is the same as Revolutionary S-OFF , AND IT IS NOT

Wrongly done S-ON with Security Warning - Downgrade New S-ON Devices Firmware For Revolutionary S-OFF
you have to verify with htc or your carrier if you are allowed to use this method
htc dev method is used to solve this Problem , this method is the only known working solution for that Brick problem till now
Revolutionary will not work with the New Firmware that comes with some New Devices or Devices that accepted the OTA update
Also this Method is implemented through using htc dev method to Downgrade that New Firmware and Successfully Get Revolutionary S-OFF

Install any ICS Custom Rom for ( S-ON Devices with hboot 1.27.0000 )
See post # 2 in my other thread here , for how to install any ICS custom Rom while you are S-ON with hboot 1.27.0000
WiFi Error and Custom Roms
S-OFF devices will not have that WiFi error . the following is for members who used htc dev to unlock bootloader instead of doing Revolutionary S-OFF .
Unlock Bootloader using htc dev Unlock Method ( may or could void your warranty ) or Super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them ) and ( use htc drivers v3.0.0.7 )
you can use a Custom Rom that uses a Custom Kernel ,and solve WiFi error ( while you still on htc dev unlock method , i.e NOT S-OFF ) by installing the Boot.img ( includes custom kernel ) bootloader
if the Custom rom uses the Exact same version of htc Stock Kernel ,you will not have WiFi Error
Wifi error is usually happens because of the kernel ( in your case it is because of kernel mismatch )
in htc Method the Boot.img is still locked , Note that the Boot.img includes the Kernel
the kernel is located inside Boot.img , and Also the kernel components ( when you install a rom ) are located in System \ lib \ modules . the Module Folder is a Kernel Folder . if there is a mismatch between kernel and kernel components you will have WiFi error
a sample case , the Boot.img is still the htc stock Boot.img ( i.e it includes the stock htc Kernel ) , and you installed a custom Rom that includes a custom Kernel
When the Custom rom is being installed it will not be able to replace htc Stock Boot.img ( i.e the Stock Kernel , because it is locked ) , But will be able to install kernel components System \ lib \ modules ( because it is Unlocked ) , and Here comes the kernel mismatch and the WiFi Error ( the Kernel is still the htc stock kernel , and the Kernel components are for a different custom Kernel )

How to flash Boot.img in Bootloader
Update there is now a new version of 4EXT recovery for S-ON devices v 1.0.0.5 , enable smart flashing in recovery \ tools and it will flash the boot.img by itself " read the restrictions for that method in 4EXT recovery thread "
Bootloader should be unlocked using htc dev or super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them )
the phone should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
Put boot.img inside adb folder in same place your fastboot.exe
Start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB Folder which includes fastboot.exe and type the command fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter
type the command fastboot reboot and press enter
Reboot , the device may reboot several times before reaching the home screen
this Procedure souled be done for each custom rom you install to avoid WiFi error or other errors
to install your custom Rom ( See link in " Other Posts Links "above or click here ) , Follow title " Custom Rom Flash " and " [ Implementation ] using the above method by member su-27 "

[ Update ] Alternative Method to Flash Boot.img for Custom Roms
Update there is now a new version of 4EXT recovery for S-ON devices v 1.0.0.5 , enable smart flashing in recovery \ tools and it will flash the boot.img by itself " read the restrictions for that method in 4EXT recovery thread "
Bootloader should be unlocked using htc dev or super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them )
the phone should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
Download recovery img for either CWM or 4EXT
Put recovery img ( recovery name.img ) inside ADB folder in same place your fastboot.exe ,
recovery name.img is the exact name for the downloaded recovery img that you put inside the ADB Folder
it is NOT PG58IMG.zip recovery
Start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB Folder which includes fastboot.exe and type the command fastboot boot recovery name.img and press enter
your phone should now go to recovery screen ( loaded through fastboot )
install your custom rom as normal and reboot your phone , ( this will install the custom Rom and the Boot.img of the same Custom Rom in the same time )
Reboot , the device may reboot several times before reaching the home screen
if this method doesn't work , then go back to the original Method
Radio Flashing Problem
in htc dev unlock method , the Radio is also still locked and most probably htc dev will not allow you to flash a radio alone
and in case that htc dev shall allow it ( i doubt that ) , then theoretically !!!! :
you have to flash an official release Radio specific for your Sensation version ( Sensation , Sensation 4G , Sensation XE ) , htc method will only allow signed Radio specific for your device , and i guess ( not sure ) it will not allow you to flash a radio for a different Sensation device !!!
Example is ( not sure ) , ARHD ROM is Based on sensation XE and most probably their recommended Radio is a sensation XE Radio , if this radio is not officially assigned to your Device by htc , then i guess htc method will not allow that ( because i guess the option in bootloader is still locked )

I did S-OFF then htc dev unlock. There is any reason to return to locked htc dev ? I didn't S-ON. I have them both. I didn't notice any problem...
And by the way the file bcm4329.ko is the one which make wifi error.

revolutionary S-OFF have more feature and is Permanent for our Device , So this the best way to get S-OFF
you should not done htc dev after revolutionary S-off , just remove it ,and review you bootloader to make sure you are still S-off
some doesn't want to do revolutionary thinking that htc dev do the same ,and it is not
you said " I didn't notice any problem.....which make wifi error. " htc dev is the cuase of WiFi error if you get it as mentioned in the Post , ( in your case you will not have Wifi error because you are Revolutionary S-OFF which means your boot.img is Not locked )

I didn't notice any wifi error. I just say that mismatch kernel and system file made that. I'll try relock the htc dev now. Hope I won't mess anything...
Edit: I did lock the htc dev (fastboot oem lock). It still S-OFF and REVOLUTIONARY 1.27 HBOOT. That process didn't wipe data partition. I flashed few zips thru recovery touch and all went good.
Thanks for the post.

You will not have WiFi error because you are S-OFF with revolutionary ( i.e Your Boot.img is not Locked ) ,and your boot.img is replaced during custom rom installation
so , if you lock or unlock with htc dev will have no effect and even htc dev should be used while you are S-off Using Revolutionary ( meaningless )

What is the WiFi error that is stated here?

no connection at all for example. caused by the fact, that boot.img = kernel can't be changed / written. so for example flashing some other kernel like bricked or tiamat results in non-working w-lan because kernel (=original htc kernel) and wlan module (=bcm4329.ko from for example tiamat kernel) doesn't match.

I still can't get how to fix wi fi . Re install all system or what ?

this method for members who are using htc dev to unlock the bootloader and they are not S-OFF
extact the boot.img from the custom rom zip file ( if it is a multi device rom , choose the boot.img under devices\ { sensation }
install the custom rom as usual from recovery ,boot to bootloader ( fastboot usb )
then flash the boot.img from PC using adb , and the device should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
then reboot the device and use your Rom

in post #9 to you " this method for members who are using htc dev to unlock the bootloader and they are not S-OFF "
S-off devices don't need this method , this problem occure for people who prefered to use htc dev method and did not do Revolutionary S-off
so you should not need to use this method and your WiFi should be fine after installing GB custom roms
if you have a Wifi problem , use Super wipe before installing your custom rom

is there a way i can flash an older verson of HBOOT 1.17 to my phone.
I currently am on 1.23.0000 and revolutionary cannot s-off.
This is becasue i want to install a stock RUU and i keep getting error 155

if you got it ( hboot 1.23 ) later on , then it seems that you installed ICS v4.0.1 ( firmware 3.12 ) and then made a wrong S-ON
and your signature is showing ARHD v3.x or 4.x with a gingerbread Radio
So ,what exactly is you about phone showing now in Build Number
HBOOT 1.17
to downgrade ICS firmware : ( not very sure about hboot 1.17 )
You need to downgrade to v3.12 for sense 3.5 based GB ROM only , or to v1.17 for older GB ROM ) . ( NOT VERY SURE of that , google it )
for firmware hboot 1.17 , if you are super CID then go here
for firmware hboot 1.17 , if you are NOT super CID then go here and download the corresponding file for your CID and MID ( user friendly method to avoid editing Android-info.txt )
Follow the 12 steps downgrade procedure exactly
modified new Firmware 3.24 Unlocked
there is now a modified new Firmware 3.24 Unlocked for ICS 4.0.3 that has the Unlocked bootloader hboot 1.27 (posted by Mike1986) , that could lead to other ways to downgrade
you do the following at your own risk ( ICS involves risk of brick for S-off devices , and certainly more risk for wrong S-on Devices )
use htc dev unlock , read my post " [Guide] Successful S-OFF after bricked (wrong S-ON ) for ICS and GB ( Sensation ) here "
Note that htc dev i think don't allow Radio flash !!! and the ICS Firmware Includes Radio !!!!!!!
i think you can try 1.17 first may not work
if it could be done ( it is Just an idea only ???? ) , if not you can try to upgrade hboot to 1.27 ( unlocked and can be over-written ) according to proper procedure , then flashing a RUU for your device will over-write the hboot 1,27 with 1.18 ( Proved for S-off devices )
you can post question first at mike1986 ARHD firmware thread about upgrade hboot to 1.27 to make sure

Man you have me worried now I am S-OFF, did the 1.17 Revolutionary and later on the 3.12>3.24>3.25 firmware. After 3.12 I got the infamous Locked showing up so I proceeded to htcdev which then showed unlocked. Right now I have the latest Revolutionary:
-Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.11.00
Radio-11-21.3504.13_2
I don't quite understand the WIFI issue? In my case I am unable to connect to office WIFI with every ICS ROM I have tried. Still have my DHD with CM7 and that works fine Open WIFI's work fine with ICS so I was assuming its just a beta feature. Am I wrong and my issue is firmware/boot.img related?
Lastly, thankyou for your post

Al salam Alaikom , first of all , if you are S-off using revolutionary you should not use htc dev , you should remove it
htc dev is for people that don't want to do S-off using Revolutionary , or those who think that htc dev is the same as Revolutionary S-off ( and it is NOT )
When you installed firmware 3.12 ( i.e Hboot 1.23 ) and it says Locked , you should not worry about that . it says that because fastboot write commands are disabled ( Locked ) in hboot 1.23 , but you are still S-off , same case was for old hboot 1.27
Now the good news is , almost from 10 days ago ( i think from Jan 28 ) Mike1986 has issued a new modified new Firmware 3.24 Unlocked for ICS 4.0.3 that has the Unlocked bootloader hboot 1.27 . So if your firmware 3.24 was the old one , better update it for the new unlocked Hboot 1.27
ICS has issues with wifi and also GPS , those are still test ICS Roms
if you are s-off using revolutionary , then you don't need to do that boot.img thing ( it is for who use htc dev only ) , and as long wifi starts with you without error that it can't start or stuck on Starting wifi , then you wifi is working and you don't have wifi error
when you install ICS ARHD 6.2.1 , During installation when you are prompted to choose speed ( 1.2 or 1.5 GHZ ) choose the stock 1.2 GHZ to avoid Wifi error ( i guess it is a kernel Problem ) , even Sensation XE also should choose that 1.2 GHZ but it will actually Run at 1.5 ( its stock speed )
there is an excellent site for arabic Roms , it is http://www.ce4arab.com/

I am trying to install the 3.24 Unlocked by ARHD.. i have followed all the steps and succesfully flashed super wipe script via recovery.
Now i am on bootloader to flash the firmware named PG58IMG for HTC_001 coz thats my CID.
it still says "parsing PG58IMG" and just returns back to HBOOT without any results.

you do what you do at your own risk and this is a trial and not guaranteed to be able to flash hboot 1.27 ,
tried to pm you and your PM is locked
what are those all steps ? i only linked you to read and understand more , not for doing steps
i asked you inthe previous Post about your Software version , to choose what to so ( steps) and you didn't answer
is the bootloader unlocked with htc dev ,
did you try the 1.17

Basically what i think ( it is just an idea in general for discussion only and could brick your device ) is :
it is like a Puzzle , Note that htc dev i think don't allow Radio flash !!! and the ICS Firmware Includes Radio !!!!!!! and you can't Play with that firmware it should be flashed with all of its content untouched and according to Procedure !!!!!! means htc dev may not allow Firmware to flash !!!!!!!!!
try 1.17 method
if not working , then unlock 1.23 with htc dev and install custom rom ICS 4.0.1 ( firmware 3.12 ) as the firmware you have now ( because your hboot is 1.23 ) and after rom installed and working try hboot 1.17 again , or maybe an RUU sense 3.5 or RUU ICS firmware 3.12 ( htc dev should be locked for RUU flash )
if 1.17 worked then install Sense 3 custom Rom ( not sense 3.5 ) or maybe an RUU ( htc dev should be locked for installing RUU )
if not working , then from a working ICS cutom rom 3.12 now , try upgrade the ICS to 3.24 unlocked , and if it is successful then Flash GB RUU suitable for your phone , this will over-write the Hboot to 1.18 ( proved working with s-off devices ) , then Revolutionary
if not working and you still on 1.23 with firmware 3.12 ( i am not sure of the following ) , if there is an RUU3.5 ( htc dev should be locked for RUU flash ) , then it would be compatible with the downgrade procedure of firmware ( 3.12 ) i guess except the s-off
to install custom roms using htc dev follow title " Custom Rom Flash " in my Post "[Guide] Successful S-OFF after bricked ( wrong S-ON ) for ICS and GB ( Sensation ) here "

Current Questions:
My bootloader is unclocked with HTC Dev.
I tried the 1.17 and it still said "Parsing PG58IMG"
My current build number doesnt show up but as of this minute, i installed ARHD 6.2.1 so that i can try the unlocked 3.2.4 to see if it works..
it doesnt but says "Parsing PG58IMG" as well.
I will try to adress my PM to see whats wrong with it.
Thanks for your help. appreciate

[Q] Other possibility to flash my phone to stock ROM?? RUU doesn't work

Hi.
I bought my Sensation few days ago. Updated it to 1.45.401.2, got bored with stock Rom. So I decided to unlock bootloader to use CustomeRoms
I removed SIMCard from Sensation (I needed it in my old phone) and used official bootloader unlocker tool from this site http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader and everything went ok. After unlocking I rebooted my phone to bootloader and saw this:
*** UNLOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
eMMC-boot
Aug 2 2011,22:35:52
Good so far.
Installed Recovery 5.0.2.0 (official tool doesn't include this) - no problem.
Downloaded ROM SlimSense, made full wipe (cache, data system, dalvik etc) installed it per Recovery (succesfully), rebooted and.... the problems started.
After rebooting bootloop started. Full wipe, reinstalation (succesful again), reboot and the same - bootloop.I thought that instalation .zip file maybe was broken - let's try different. Downloaded virtuous_sensation-s-pyramid-v3.0.0-beta ROM, full wiped, installed (succesfully), reboot and... the same - bootloop.
I started suspecting something is wrong so decided to cure my phone by flashing stockROM. Downloaded RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035 .00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed from XDA, full wiped with recovery, and tried to flash it -RUU founds my phone, reboot it to start instalation (black screen with white htc- missing percentage info) and try to send files to phone for 15-20 sec - then RUU show message that it cannot update my phone. When I unplug phone from usb, phone goes back to bootloader and show:
*** UNLOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
eMMC-boot
Aug 2 2011,22:35:52
RUU
Security fail!
Update fail!
After this "try" i still have fully working Recovery. I tried also 1.35 and 1.73 stock ROMs - the same fail
I tried to unlock super cid 11111111 but it didn'twork - some SMART_IO.CRD file is missing.
Then i tried to use revolutionary way of unlocking, but without system on the phone it doesn't recognize it. And i can't have system cause RUU doesn't work.
Then I remembered that my SIM card is out of phone.
So I put it back but it didn't change anything: full wipe, instalation of SlimSense, reboot and... bootloop again, the same with virtuos.
The same fail with RUU! , the same supercid and revolutionary failure.
So here comes my question:
Is there any other posibility to flash stock ROM? PG58img somehow?
Pls - DON'T TELL me that i should use revolutionary first - i know it now.
Tell me how to solve this problem.

PG58img ??? yes, you can try this : http://goo-inside.me/ruu/pyramid/fu...00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed.zip
after download, rename to PG58IMG.zip and move to root of your sd-card, enter to bootloader -> flash this...
i could be wrong (not an expert) but maybe its failing because your phone still says its S-ON

As far as I know Official bootloader unlocker gives only "UNLOCKED" and it's enough to flash custom ROMs.
@ ranggazay
I extracted rom.zip from StockROM 1.45 renamed it to PG58IMG.zip and tried to flash but still nothing. Also tried the same earliers StockRoms (1.35, 1.27 etc).
Unfortunately I can't use your file cause i gave my phone to service.
Any solution?
Hello,
did you find a solution to the problem? I experienced this today and thinking about a repair unless I find something here. Did you get any solution? Thank you.
Try flashing the RUU again whist the phone is on FASTBOOT-USB
Same problem here - I'm interested in any solution

S on will not allow you to flash radios. Unlocked bootloader through HTC does not give you s off which is a requirement to flash custom ROMS.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Htc dev method unlock only few parts of the bootloader.
It doesn't unlock the radio area, it doesn't give you advanced fastboot write command access (that's why you can't change your cid) and I think that the boot.img partition (where there is the kernel) is not flashable from recovery.
You unlocked your bootloader on a 2.3.4 rom (with a 2.3.4 kernel, sense 3.0) and you tried to flash two 2.3.5 roms.
Without the possibility to flash a new kernel your phone was trying to boot with a 2.3.4 stock kernel + a rom that was meant for 2.3.5. This could be the cause of your bootloops.
I would try to install a 2.3.4 rom, like android revolution HD 3.x.x, you could have problems with wifi but it should boot at least.
First of all get S-off then supercid ur phone. You need to have s off to install any custom Rom properly. Ones you do that hopefully solve problem. Try not to messing around u might brick ur phone. You already void ur warranty by unlocking bootloader.

Same problem but with different unit--- I have a HTC ChaCha.
Any solutions please? I would love to get S-OFF on my ChaCha but I know that is only possible via an XTC Clip.
Why would he have problems with WiFi? I think my stock ROM got broken or one of the stock ROM's kernels got messed up when I installed BusyBox because for some odd reason when I restored to factory settings with stock ROM the WiFi had problems connecting. It couldn't connect to anything at all.
I had same problem and this is how I solved it
Ok here is answer to solve you
Flash any 2.3.5 Rom and open that zip in computer and extract the boot.IMF file and place it to the web folder in c drive and and flash it immediately after installing Rom
Go to bootloader and make sure fastboot USB connected and then flash the boot.IMG file from cmd prompt
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
With s-on and **unlocked** via htc.dev, you can't flash radio.img or boot.img, nor can you write using fastboot (eg. superCID). RUU will not run with s-on.
You will need to revert and downgrade via this guide, you can then either continue with custom flashing or run the ruu correct for your original software/baseband/carrier/location.

Flashing a custom ROM does not give you s off. Which part of you can't flash radios and kernels with s on do you not get?. You cannot flash Android Revolution ROM with s on. Read the OP of the thread, requires s off.

You're wrong. You can flash ARHD with s-on. The only requisite is to flash the kernel (boot.img) by "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and voila. You need to have the unlocked bootloader with htcdev too.
My Sensation came with HBOOT 1.21, so no revolutionary at all. I unlocked by htcdev, installed 4ext recovery and ARHD 4.1.3 this way.

i read that HBOOT 1.21 can be S-OFFed " reported done by a member " in [S-OFF] Juopunutbear S-OFF or [Finally Here!] HTC Unbricking Project threads , i don't remember if the device on GB or ICS
i think it is Juopunutbear S-OFF search inside it [S-OFF] Juopunutbear S-OFF , it is done using the wire trick , link http://unlimited.io/
the only comment i have , is to verify the S-OFF type , is it like hardware S-OFF " i.e can't be S-ON again for warranty reasons ? " or it Software S-OFF

N00b question on how to Root/flash a Sensation

Hi there
first of all i know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
So i am completly new here and i tried to root and flash a custom rom accordng to the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 and here (in german: http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-sensatio...s-off-flashen-custom-rom-fuers-sensation.html)
however i did not work properly...
My Phone: HTC Sensation with Branded Android 2.3.4 (Provider Swisscom; Switzerland)
here is what i did:
1.) I unlocked the Bootloader with the official HTCDev tool (http://htcdev.com/)
2.) i S-OFF'ed my phone accordng to:
Step 1. To S-OFF your Sensation - (You do not need to do this if you have S-off already or done this before) - WORKING NOW for TMOUS users
Visit http://revolutionary.io/
however, the CMD showed me a "Failure, Live gave you lemons"
i think it was only concening the installation of the clockwork... (???)
3.) i did the CID stuff "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" (afterwards getcid gave me "fastboot getvar cid" 11111111
4.) the i flashed the firmwareupdate from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
(this one : "Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU" since i had id 111111111)
5.) the i tried flashing Adroid Revolution HD 6.x (after superwipe) from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14192842&postcount=4
but after rebooting, the phone froze in the white HTC screen for about 20 min or so
6.) superwipe again, and then i flashed Revolution HD 4.1.7 which is working now
my phone sais now: Android Version 2.3.5
HTC Sense: Version 3.5
Software number: Android Revolution HD 4.1.7 by mike1986
and if i enter recovery mode on statup it sais:
*****unlocked*****
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.20.0000
RADIO-11.15.3504.16_M
eMMc-boot
and if i enter recovery, this 4ext touch recovery tool (1.0.0.3 Beta 7) starts
i dont know if i have done it correctly or if i made a complete mess!
i really would like to install the Android Revolution HD 6.0.3 rom but as i said, the phone gets stuck at startup (or do i have to wait longer than 30 min on the HTC screen?!)
can annyone of you pro's see where the mistake was done? or what i have to change, to make the new rom working?
THX so Much
sincerely
N00b swissbone from switzerland
You flashed the wrong firmware for the 6.0.x rom you need to have the 1.23 hboot. Look in the ARHD thread and download the correct firmware for 6.0.3.
Link to firmware: http://tinyurl.com/creec9g
thx... actually i think i have tried both firmwares you can download at the URL you mentioned.. but i think i will try again
could it be anything else?
THX
download again the firmware, check MD5 sum and try to flash firmware again. also update your 4ext beta 8
how do i update ext4 ?
THX
there are two ways. Either you can flash 6.03 again, then you should have beta 8, or find in market "4ext uploader"
thx
there is one problem though...
if i go to cmd-> adb devies, i obly get the answer "List of Devices Attached" but no devie is listed....waht can i do?
THX

Hmm pickle indeed, whats your hboot is it still the same? or does it say something different after flashing new firmware?
if it says 1.20/1.23 you should be able to boot any gingerbread rom and older ICS Leaks,
if you want to boot 6.1.x or insertcoins 4.4.x or any variant of those roms that use the newset ICS leak your gonna need to flash latest firmware which has hboot 1.27
I would download the rom again, I had a few bad downloads before that made my phone not boot up. Oh and his roms take a while to boot just be patient
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
When he has no Android on his phone, he, isn't be able to flash, isn't he?
Somewhere I saw a posting with a describtion how from WM to Android. I thought I saw it in the ARHD 6.1.0 thread somewhere on page 4790 or so, it's a very huge thread, so start backwards to read is my suggestion
ok, i have 2.3.5 running again...
what have i to do nex? update teh HBOOT and Firmwaren? and then update the 6.1.x ?
THX
so ok i have 2.3.5 running again...
whta do i need to do next to get 6.1.x running?
update the HBOOT and i am good to go? i dont exactly know wat ENG S-OFF is, but do i need it?
THX
ok, when i start my sensation up in recovery mode it says:
Unlocked
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT1.23.000
Radio-11.19.3504.29_2
OpenADSP-v01.6.0.2226.00.1227
eMMC-boot
so what is the next thing to do?
flash HBOOT 1.27 with "debugging enabled"
do i need new firmware/radio ?
BIG THX
SO...i tried it again with USB DEBUGGING activated...
i downloadede the radio ( 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2 ) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14192842&postcount=4
but when i start this adb tool and try to install the radio it starts the phone in recovery/fastboot (as it shoud) but when i continue with "fastboot flash radio radio.img" it says:
sending "radio" .....OKAY
writing raidio....FAILED (remote: not allowed)
what is wrong?

[Guide] Successful S-OFF after (wrong S-ON) brick for ICS/GB ,Downgrade S-ON firmware

[ Guide ] Successful S-OFF for GB or ICS after Brick ( non proper Wrong S-ON , Security Warning ) using htc dev Unlock , Also for Downgrade latest GB OTA Firmware

[Tutorial/Mod] Noob Proof how to Edit APK's / Replace “ god mode“with“Ownership Mode"
[ Guide ] for installing Both Custom / Stock Recovery / SU ( Downloads and Methods )
this Method
this method is to get S-off for bricked devices ( either on GB or ICS Firmware boot.img ) for members accidentally done wrong S-ON without following the proper procedure resulting in Brick S-ON with Security warning
This method also Downgrades devices that came with new GB firmware ( or updated by GB OTA firmware ) to a lower Firmware version to allow Revolutionary to do first time S-off.
This method also Downgrades ICS boot.img based on firmware 3.12 Android 4.0 ( the lastest firmware when writing this Guide is firmware 3.12 with hboot 1.23 ) , so firmware 3.32 with hboot 1.27 is not addressed in the following methods
you have to verify with htc or your carrier if you are allowed to use this method
This method is reported implemented successfully by more than a user ( who tried all other methods till writing this guide with no success, until they used this method )
This method should work with gingerbread and gingerbread mixed with ICS boot.img ( i.e Android 4 with hboot 1.18 at least ) , I will not discuss any thing related to the Radio
Summery of this method is :
use htc dev unlock method to unlock bootloader or Super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them )
Install custom Rom ( old Stock Rooted Rom v2.3.x preferred 2.3.3 )
Extract boot.img of the same Rom and Flash it via bootloader ( fastboot usb ) using fastboot in ADB tools . Also this downgrades ICS boot.img into Gingerbread boot.img
Now you have a working Gingerbread Rom ready for use with revolutionary to get S-OFF
In this post there is a Step by step Successful S-OFF implementation of this method for wrong S-ON by member ( please note that I don’t have a Sensation yet )
How htc dev unlock method Works
first of all , i don't like this method ( htc dev unlock method ) because it is tricky
this method unlocks some options for Bootloader ( Not All of them ) . htc dev site says unlocking your bootloader may or could void your warranty !!
the Boot.img and Bootloader are still locked , and of course the Radio area is still locked ( it is not the radio we flash to improve signal )
locked means those areas can not be over-written
it allows you to install Custom Roms , But what htc maybe forgot to tell you is that the custom rom should be using their htc Boot, img ( i.e Stock kernel ) in order to work without errors !!!!!!! . ( Otherwise for Roms with custom kernels , you have to install the boot.img ( Custom Kernels ) in a certain Method to avoid errors like WiFi error or sometimes boot loop when you do wrong S-on !!!! )
this certain Method is to flash locked items ( like Boot.img that includes custom Kernel ) through fastboot ( i.e bootloader )
S-ON
htc dev unlock method does not give S-off , it only unlocks some options for Bootloader . so , displaying ( Unlocked and S-on ) is normal for htc method
Some mistakenly think that htc dev unlock method is the same as Revolutionary S-OFF , AND IT IS NOT
DISCLAIMER
Verify with HTC and your Carrier that you are legally Allowed to use any Method in this Post Before using it ,
and Don't use it if you are not legally allowed to
I am not responsible if following this Method results in bricking your phone
Whatever you do is at your Own Risk
Downgrade Firmware and Latest GB OTA updates ( Needed for first time S-OFF using Revolutionary , Proved working on GB )
to know if your software need downgrade or not , if you software need downgrade Revolutionary will give you the following Error " Zerg ..... failed to S-OFF " , this indicates that your GB Software needs to be downgraded before using Revolutionary , for ICS software there is no downgrade method yet and you need to use other ways for achieving S-OFF
you have to verify with htc or your carrier if you are allowed to use this method
unlocked Bootloader using htc dev ( may or could void your warranty ) or Super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them ) and ( use htc drivers v3.0.0.7 )
You will need to Install custom recovery preferably CWM recovery as follows:
go here for all methods How To Install Custom Recovery or use the following methods
Method one : is install through bootloader , if needed rename recovery to PG58IMG.zip , Place PG58IMG.zip on the root of SD Card , then install it from bootloader as an update PG58IMG
Method two : from your PC using ADB tools download for WINDOWS or download for LINUX and the device should be in fastboot usb . Extract recovery.img from zip file and put it inside ADB Folder , and start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB folder which includes fastboot.exe and execute fastboot flash recovery recovery.img , then after installation is finished execute fastboot reboot-bootloader
For 4EXT Go to 4EXT thread or Download the user-friendly 4EXT Recovery touch flashing tool and read the guide inside ( link by joaquinf ) .
follow instructions mentioned in title "Custom Rom Flash " , and in title "[ Implementation ]" in this Guide
Your new Firmware and ICS Android v4 boot.img ( if ICS boot.img exists due to wrong S-ON ) is downgraded by installing the Old Rooted Stock Custom Rom ,you Must lock the bootloader for Revolutionary to work , then use Revolutionary to get S-OFF ( Proved Working )
Custom Rom Flash ( Gingerbread and ICS , Proved Working on hboot 1.18 )
this method is used to solve :
wrong S-ON on GB Bricked devices
wrong S-ON on GB mixed with ICS v4 boot.img by downgrading both firmware and boot.img
Downgrade GB Firmware ( and downgrade latest GB OTA ) for new S-on devices ,
Allow revolutionary to do the S-OFF after downgrade
this method is proved working on hboot 1.18
Unlock bootloader using htc dev unlock method ( may or could void your warranty ) or Super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them ) and ( use htc drivers v3.0.0.7 )
Do a NAND backup for your rom , then do a full wipe or factory reset through recovery or bootloader , Don't use Super wipe
Find a Custom rom ( an old Stock Rooted Rom Android 2.3.x “ better 2.3.3 , note that 2.3.5 will not work with revolutionary “ with unsecured Boot.img and this is mentioned in the rom features sometimes but not necessarily ) , and flash the rom from recovery (try this Rom used by member ) this 2.3.3 ROM ( Update Here is a mirror for the 2.3.3 rom: Dropbox )
Update you can use any Stock Rooted Rom v2.3.3 or 2.3.4 in Xda Development section or look in list of HTC Sensation Android Roms , one member reported successful S-OFF using ARHD v3.x , if ARHD v3.x Rom don't include boot.img then just skip flashing Boot.img or use Alternative Method to Flash Boot.img for Custom Roms )
Reboot into bootloader , ( for some roms , if you let the rom boots maybe it will be stuck on htc splash screen or getting boot loops because it needs its boot.img )
Update there is now a new version of 4EXT recovery for S-ON devices v 1.0.0.5 , enable smart flashing in recovery \ tools and it will flash the boot.img by itself " read the restrictions for that method in 4EXT recovery thread " . Also 4EXT recovery Control has an option to flash boot.img from home screen
extract Boot.img from the same rom zip you flashed , ( in Multi device Roms , extraxt the boot.img for your exact device ) , then Flash it as follows :
Bootloader should be unlocked
the phone should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
Put boot.img inside adb folder in same place your fastboot.exe , ADB tools download for WINDOWS
Start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB folder which includes fastboot.exe and type fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter
after finish , type fastboot reboot-bootloader and press enter
Reboot , the device may reboot several times before reaching the home screen
[ Update ] Alternative Method to Flash Boot.img for Custom Roms
Update there is now a new version of 4EXT recovery for S-ON devices v 1.0.0.5 , enable smart flashing in recovery \ tools and it will flash the boot.img by itself " read the restrictions for that method in 4EXT recovery thread " . . Also 4EXT recovery Control has an option to flash boot.img from home screen
follow the above steps , except instead of extracting Boot.img and flashing it through fastboot , do the following :

[ Implementation ] Successful S-OFF using the above method by member ( had done a Wrong S-on and Semi Brick Security Warning )
a step by step procedure , the following is what member practically did to implement this method , i added some to his words to make every thing organized and clear ( please note that I don’t have a Sensation yet )
member problem was he installed Custom ICS Rom and then installed RUU_Pyramid_Orange_PL and did a wrong S-ON ( so he is on ICS boot.img and a GB RUU with a wrong S_ON ) , his Hboot is 1.18
“ I unlocked device via htc and did factory reset from bootloader. This way I gained access to my 4ext recovery which was not erased during RUU process.
First, I extracted boot.img from custom ROM zip in my PC and put it to the same folder when my fastboot.exe is . Device was in Fastboot USB mode
Next, I put custom gingerbread ROM this 2.3.3 ROM ( Update Here is a mirror for the 2.3.3 rom: Dropbox )into sd card and flashed it from recovery, then immediately, from recovery, rebooted into fastboot and flashed boot.img from my PC:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
( Update you can use any Stock Rooted Rom v2.3.3 or 2.3.4 in Xda Development section or look in list of HTC Sensation Android Roms , one member reported successful S-OFF using ARHD v3.x , if ARHD v3.x Rom don't include boot.img then just skip flashing Boot.img or use Alternative Method to Flash Boot.img for Custom Roms )
I did it twice, with additional full wipe from recvovery, first with RCMix 3.5 which didn't work with revolutionary, and the second with this 2.3.3 ROM ( Here is a mirror for the 2.3.3 rom: Dropbox ) that finally worked and gave me S-Off . Currently I'm on stock, branded Orange PL ROM, relocked, S-on and ready to be sent for repair.”
Install any ICS Custom Rom for ( S-ON Devices with hboot 1.27.0000 )
See post # 2 below for how to install any Custom Rom on S-ON Devices with hboot 1.27.0000
Revolutionary Method and Precautions ( Gingerbread )
Video link for very detailed instructions ( for htc Incredible 2 phone ,it is for gingerbread also ) , Procedure is the same , Only difference is you have to replace any required information " name and bootloader " and downloads " recovery " to fit sensation , Link is here
It Should be used after doing one of these 3 methods ( i.e a device with GB Rom - New S-ON devices that has acceptable software version for Revolutionary can skip this step ) mentioned above in this post ( Custom Rom Flash or Downgrade Firmware and Latest OTA or RUU flash ) using Android 2.3.x Rom ( 2.3.3 preferred )
uninstall htc new drivers and htc Sync , and use the old htc drivers (v 3.0.0.007) mentioned in revolutionary page ( for windows users ) ,New htc drivers prevent Revolutionary from doing its job ( Proved ).
revolutionary page is here
Old htc driver download link for HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
if you are using htc dev unlock method , you have to re-lock your bootloader before using revolutionary
run Revolutionary as administrator
usb debugging must be enabled in setting \ application \ development
untick fast boot box in setting \ power
remove any conflicting software ( like Doubletwist ,Verizon vcast ) , remove any conflicting APK from your device that may connect to the phone over USB and automatically sync
Disable any firewall or antivirus , use a different clean browser without the add-on extensions , clean browser cache
Copy and Paste in cmd
Better to avoid typing , use copy and Paste
Right click top toolbar of cmd window and select edit then paste or copy
Revolutionary Errors
Error " Waiting for device .... " , this is caused by new htc Drivers and htc sync , remove both and install old htc driver
Error " Zerg ..... failed to S-OFF " , this indicates that your GB Software needs to be downgraded before using Revolutionary , for ICS software there is no downgrade method yet and you need to use other ways for achieving S-OFF
Error regarding the SN and beta key , to solve that use copy and Paste in cmd window instead of typing
Error " revolutionary Runs and finishes and don't give error and also don't do S-OFF " , to solve that Run Revolutionary as administrator
RUU flash ( Gingerbread and ICS ) ( not proved )
You can try this method , and see if works with you instead of the above ( no feed back about it yet )
Normally you should Lock bootloader in order to Flash RUU ( But since there is a wrong S-ON , then try also to Unlock if it didn’t work ) using htc dev unlock ( may or could void your warranty )
Do a NAND backup for your rom , then do a full wipe or factory reset through recovery or bootloader , Don't use Super wipe
note that flashing RUU.exe requires htc sync to be installed and the device is connected in sync mode , and that usb debugging is enabled , and fast boot box is unchecked " in Setting \ power "
if you have problems when you flash a ruu , try the following :
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
And then flash the ruu by executing the RUU.exe
from your PC , Flash RUU.exe ( similar to your original RUU , or should be old Gingerbread RUU ) in Fastboot ( not Hboot ) , if not working , then remove Battery and put it back and press volume down and power to go to bootloader , and repeat the RUU.exe flash
after flashing the RUU , if it didn’t boots and stuck on the splash , then try Unlock bootloader and extract the Boot.img that came with the same RUU zip file , and flash it as follows ( it is only a trial , not sure it would work ) :
Bootloader should be unlocked
the phone should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
Put boot.img inside adb folder in same place your fastboot.exe
Start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB folder which includes fastboot.exe as and type fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter
type fastboot reboot-bootloader and press enter
Reboot , the device may reboot several times before reaching the home screen

ICS firmware , more information is at Mike link here and this guide here
ICS problem solution ( Firmware 3.12 Only mixed with hboot 1.18 ) is to downgrade the software and ICS boot.img to gingerbread as above method "Custom Rom Flash ( Gingerbread and ICS )"
ICS firmware disables fastboot commands ( no write ) on 1.23.xxxx-1.20.xxxx and i think also 1.18.xxxx
So , for those who did wrong S-ON on devices having hboot 1.18 mixed with ICS Boot.img ( firmware 3.12 Android 4 Only ) , Revolutionary will not be able to write S-off because Android 4 software boot.img is too new for Revolutionary, Also Revolutionary doesn’t support hboot 1.23
there is an Hboot 1.17 ( which I think is Eng Hboot similar or same as 1.17.0008 ) which allows fastboot commands , use Firmware v3.12 ( for sense 3.5 based GB ROM only ) or v1.17 for older GB ROM
you can't downgrade the firmware if the devvice is S-ON , or when the bootloader is unlocked on S-ON devices
ICS Roms 3.12.401.102 will only boot on certain Hboot versions ( not all of them ) , Hboot 1.17 will not boot ICS Roms 3.12.401.102

Unlocked in Pink , means someone unlocked the original locked hboot above by using htc dev , or super tool ,... etc
Relocked in Pink , means someone relocked the unlocked bootloader above , and when relocked it will not show " locked " anymoe , it will show " relocked " to reflect that you have unlocked your bootloader before
locked hboot means you can't use fastboot write commands , like flashing recovery !

Check this Post in XDA Portal
you can S-OFF or downgrade using hardware S-OFF by using a hardware called Jtag , i didn't investigate that much , so check it out yourself , one member reported using it successfully to downgrade hboot 1.27.0000 to 1.18 . i think this would void your warranty because all S-OFF using hardware are permanent ( you can't S-ON again i guess ) ,
for members stuck with S-ON and hboot 1.27.0000 , you can install either of the following :
install Custom Recovery and SU with your Existing official ICS software or ICS OTA
install any custom ICS Roms ( on condition it has the same firmware of your existing RUU or OTA )
note that almost same bugs exist in both ICS OTA and ICS custom roms ,so no big difference ( except for SU APK's )
you will not be able to change or flash any Firmware , htc dev don't allow flashing of firmware ( like 3.32 or 1.17 , ...etc ) , it just unlocks few bootloader options not all of them
So for example , if your software number in about phone says 3.32.x.x , you have to install cutom rom that is based on 3.32 firmware only ( because that is your existing firmware that is flashed by the RUU or OTA ) , not a higher firmware version" i guess , not sure for higher versions " if it is issued in future , or a lower firmware like GB
this means also you will not be able to install GB custom rom or RUU
1) Easy Method for Installing ICS Custom Roms ( S-ON Devices with hboot 1.27.0000 )
the procedure is the same as installing ICS for S-OFF devices , except for the following differences :
you need first to unlocked Bootloader
you will not flash firmware ( Firmware of the custom Rom and phone software version must be identical )
unlocked Bootloader using htc dev ( may or could void your warranty ) or Super tool or Check this Post in XDA Portal ( if it is legal to use them )
you can install any other ICS custom rom with the same firmware base
most ICS Custom Roms now are based on firmware 3.32 , so if your installed ICS RUU or OTA have an older Base then install ICS RUU or OTA to have firmware base 3.32 .
if you prefer to stay on older ICS RUU firmware ,then choose suitable older custom Rom with same firmware version as the RUU
first i suggest to start with ICS ARHD 6.6.x ( developer of the rom and firmware Package is the same , more compatibility ) , then later on you can choose the ICS rom you like
Download ICS Custom Rom , i prefer ARHD 6.6.x as a start here ( it is based on firmware 3.32 ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1098849
Download super wipe , it is in the same ARHD link
you don't need or allowed to install Firmware so Firmware flash is skipped for S-ON devices
install Recovery ( 4EXT Recovery which is required by a lot of ICS Roms for choices during installation like kernel and processor speed , ...etc )
recovery is here Guide for installing Both Custom / Stock Recovery ( Downloads and Methods )
try this first http://vi8.info/HTC-Sensation/Non-Stock-Recovery/ ( use Method 2 )
if you still have problem ,then super cid before using Method 2 , use this Guide to super cid here Guide to S-Off, Unlocking, Root, etc in step 4

install ICS as follows
put the two file on the root of your SD Card
boot into bootloader then choose recovery , to boot into bootloader either ( remove Battery , put it back , and by press and hold volume downd then press and hold power , choose recovery ) , or untick fast boot box in Setting \ power then power off , then press and hold volume down then press and hold power , choose recovery
flashed super wipe zip ( it will wipe and reboot back to recovery by itself )
flashed the ARHD Rom in recovery , done
you may need to flash the boot.img of the Custom rom if you get wifi error or the Rom has customkernel , flash it as shown in OP Post # 1 under title " Custom Rom Flash .... "
Update there is now a new version of 4EXT recovery for S-ON devices v 1.0.0.5 , enable smart flashing in recovery \ tools and it will flash the boot.img by itself " read the restrictions for that method in 4EXT recovery thread " . Also 4EXT recovery Control has an option to flash boot.img from home screen
if the Rom have more than a kernel to choose , then flash the boot.img for the kernel you choosed during installation
2) Easy Method for Installing ICS Custom Roms ( S-OFF Devices )
Works for S-OFF devices with any hboot , including locked hboots as a result of flashing RUU's ( like 1.18 and 1.27.0000 ) , if you have problems with hboot 1.18 then flash firmware 1.17 ( it will install Revolutionary hboot 1.17.1111 )

S-off on hboot 1.23
Hi trkaaa,
over in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494336&page=3
Rhiannon recommended that we ask you for your help about getting s-off on hboot 1.23 because you are very knowledgeable on this. There are a number of us who have this problem (unlocked with HTC Dev - S-on - cannot flash radio or hboot and cannot flash any RUU, even those with hboot 1.23 or 1.27):

Is there any solution you could suggest to get back to hboot 1.17 so we can use Revolutionary to get S-off? Have tried all the options in this thread but none of them works for hboot 1.23.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hello,
I am a noob here. My question is regarding rooting the Sensation. I rooted mine successfully and installed ISC.
Now on my friends device, we followed the same steps. After using Revolution, i booted to boot mode. When we tried to install pg58img if said SID Incorrect, Install Failed.
I did delete the pg58img file after from the main directory of the SD card after.
It is now caught in a boot loop. I can't seem to get out of.
Any recommendations?
Currently has HSBOOT 1.27
I did search in the forums and could not find a solution.

Your boootloader screen shows , the firmware flashing was done partially. Please reflash the firmware V3.24 . Download the correct file according to your CID from here.
Hi,
I got phone unlocked by HTC dev method, installed one of 2.3.5 based custom rom from insertcoin and flashed boot.img from same. However, the phone is still showing unlocked, S_ON hboot 1.18.x
I tried to download 2.3.3 rom mentioned but both links not working hence used insertcoin.
Revolutionary fails at last step, and none of the RUU flash ( please use right RUU message displayed) , I am superCID and its unbranded sesnsation 4G
I appreciate any help that you provide

Android 2.3.5 most probably will not work . in my Post above " Find a Custom rom ( an old Stock Rooted Rom Android 2.3.x “ better 2.3.3 , note that 2.3.5 will not work with revolutionary “ "
the RUU maybe didn't work with you because you are using Android 2.3.5 and trying to flash RUU's 2.3.4 ( Older )
use Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 Rooted Stock Custom Rom , look in this link you will find a lot of Rooted stock Custom Roms here http://www.htcsensationroms.com/
lock htc bootloader before using revolutionary and follow instructions in title " Revolutionary Method ( Gingerbread and ICS ) "
i added an alternative way to flash custom rom , you may try it if you want in title " [ Update ] Alternative Method to Flash Boot.img for Custom Roms "

Thanks , unfortunately, multiupload is no more opening up tried different roms all are on multiupload and hence cant download, my bad.
Any possibility of a 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 rom any other site, a mirror may be

This is what I have now:
1. Hboot screen shows Unlocked, though when I try to relock using htc dev method "Fastboot oem lock" it says phone is already locked
2. PG58IMG.zip do not get flashed, Revolutionary fails after displaying rebooting once moar
3. I am 2.3.4, used Android revolution HD custom ROM with unsecure boot.img, however the rom zip do not have boot.img file that I can flash after installing rom using recovery. ROM boots fine and I am able to use the phone
RUU is not flashing, sometimes USB connection error sometimes " not the right RUU".
Please help, I need to have S-ON and like to falsh the official RUU. I tried multiple things and its not working out.
Looking for your help as it works but may be I am missing something somewhere
Got S-OFF ultimately , I used 4ext recovery and formatted all paritition except sdcard, did factory reset and then installed 2.3.4 custom rom, ran Revolutionary and voila I am S-OFF
Hboot is now 1.17 and it displays Revolutionary (correctly so).
However, RUU is saying getting flashed stating "use the right RUU" though I am using the right one, I am SuperCID so will try to remove superCID and see if that works
will update.
Thanks for your help

Hi Trkaa, thanks for your help, I am back to STOCK, relocked and S_ON, just sharing what I did so might help others:
" I was on hboot 1.18.xx with wrong S-ON and semi brick device, below is what I did to get back to Stock and S-ON"
1. Used htc dev unlock method and then using 4ext recovery formatted all partitions except sdcard
2. Installed custom rom Android Revolution HD 3.6.13, a 2.3.4 rom, can be downloaded from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14191938&postcount=1" as multiupload is not working so couldn't download any rom from there, so used above one
3. Reboot sensation, used revolutionary to get S-OFF
4. RUU was not flashing so I did this : Relocked my phone by running "Fastboot OEM lock" with phone in fastboot USB and then reboot the phone
5. From "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033", Used METHOD 2 - ENG HBOOT [both Flash ENG HBOOT & Download an RUU and then Flash RUU (rom.zip)]
6. Once phone boots up, run the STOCK RUU.exe as normal (required else phone would not install OTA though downloads it without problem),
7. Once done and rebooted, used commands from "http://theunlockr.com/2011/10/03/how-to-unroot-the-htc-sensation-4g/" to put S_ON back
8. Result , I am relocked, S-ON and on STOCK with OTA installing without problem
Trkaaa, thanks a lot Your guide really helped and thanks for helping me time to time via PM , Really helpful for noobs
In theory, easiest method if you are below 1.27 would be:
1. Unlock via HTC
2. Flash firmware with 1.27 REVOLUTIONARY unlocked hboot (in theory, unlocking bootloader allows you to flash not signed PG58 file as long as CID and MID match and you are going "up"). Skip it if HTC unlock allows you to change to SuperCID.
3. SuperCID
4. Run an RUU with 1.17 hboot from fastboot
5. Run revo
Would be interesting if someone could test it.

That's why I said "in theory". Hopefully, after unlocking via HTC dev, it doesn't check signatures, that should be enough to allow pg58 to run.

I've recently up and downgraded from 3.32 to 3.33 and back.
I've S-OFF'd my device with Revolutionary.
So on 3.32 my device showed HBOOT 1.27.XXXX (dunno right now), S-OFF and REVOLUTIONARY on top.
On 3.33 it said S-OFF and LOCKED... This is quite annoying because I like fastboot
This and a "slowdown issue" on Viper Rom made me to go back to 3.32 - just go to the Firmwares thread and download the PG58IMG.zip and put it on your SDCard - now boot to bootloader and flash the PG58IMG
By the way, normally you can flash any rom with S-OFF on, you just need to get root by something like zergRush (dunno right now which tool).
S-ON meant at least on my previous phone that you can change the content of /system only within recovery. You weren't able to change your stock recovery to CWM, so you had to use "fake-flash" - you actually apply an update.zip that contained your CWM Recovery...
S-OFF meant you can change /system on a running android and change your recovery and don't have to use FakeFlash (like 3 seconds faster )

[Q] Problem with Custom ICS Rom Installation in My HTC Sensation

I have two HTC Sensation Device ---
1) Locked hboot1.27.XXXX, ICS (From Official OTA), S-ON, Non-rooted
2) Locked hboot1.18.XXXX, GB (As no Official OTA Received for ICS), S-ON, Non-rooted, Orange-United Kingdom
I have successfully unlocked and rooted both the devices with 4EXT Touch Recovery Installed in both the mobiles (Still S-ON for both devices).
Now my Device status are as below:
1) Unlocked hboot1.27.XXXX, ICS (Custom ROM), S-ON, Rooted
2) Unlocked hboot1.18.XXXX, GB (Slightly Customed ROM), S-ON, Rooted
I have tried to install different ICS based custom roms using Smart Flash of 4EXT Recovery with S-ON.
In first device, ROM installation was successful in every try
But in second device, ROM installation failed and boot-loop problem occurred (tried with 5~6 custom ROMS but failed all the time with similar problem). Then I have flashed GB ROM on second device with hboot 1.18.XXXX.
Can anyone answer my following queries, Please--
1) I think, as the custom ROMS requires hboot version 1.27.XXXX+, it failed to flash. Please confirm whether my assumption is ok or not. Please be noted that custom ROMS are flashing my first device with S-ON with ease.
2) Can I upgrade to 1.27.XXXX hboot version without S-OFF?
3) Can I flash/push by hboot.img through (fastboot flash hboot hboot.img) command with version 1.27.XXXX? If yes, can anyone provide me a proper link to download that hboot.img file?
4) Can anyone provide me download link for RUU so that I can update my hboot version by official ICS ROM (Orange, United Kingdom)
5) Can anyone suggest any better method to install custom ROMS with S-ON?
6) Can anyone suggest me how to S-OFF easily (I have tried Revolutionary.exe, but this program never opens in my PC although I have the beta Key)?
7) With S-OFF, will the problem will be solved with hboot version 1.18.XXXX? If not, please suggest...
I would be really happy if my problem is solved by any of yours' help
in the first device you completely fine:good:
in the second one indeed you need to S-OFF in order to upgrade firmware to ics(will upgrade also your hboot version)
that's why the device is bootlooping(not running in gb firmware)
you mentioned that you tried revolutionary method and it didn't work
so try this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425
search for the correct ruu.exe
by the way what kind of problem do you face with revolutionary method?

In fact revolutionary.exe is being crashed whenever I tried to open it either in Windows XP (Office Laptop) or in Windows 7 (Home PC). So, I have failed to use this tool. Can u suggest any idea?
If you can't use revolutionary for s-off, then your only hope is RUU.EXE on your PC.
