Hello,
Anybody knows if I can use my SIM card from Skyrocket in another LTE phone from ATT? Like can I put into Nitro HD and have LTE speeds? During activation ATT customer service asked me for IMEI number of my Skyrocket phone so I assume it's bound somehow to phone device?
Thanks,
G

Yea, but that's because the inspire isn't LTE, right? It's only hspa+, which is 3.5G. Am I wrong?

I've already rebooted, removed battery/sim, tried to switch network modes, etc. I can't get it to connect to 4g and I'm in a "4g very good" area. I contacted tmobile chat and they are not sure what is happening and suggest I swap for a different phone. Really? Is this a common problem?
Maybe you can check out one of the many threads concerning data issues instead of making a new one.

Where do I find this information?
Assuming you purchased the Sensation from T-Mobile it shoudl work as long as they placed a 4G capable SIM in your phone. Without it you won't be able to receive 4G service.
Is there a way to tell if I received a 4G capable sim? I ordered online, so I just got it in the mail today.
I went in today and Tmobile swapped out my sim card for a new one - I get the same issue to. And I was advsd they are not 4g cards - just updated cards

My issue with 4g in Texas. Seems like many others are having data outages as well and not just with the S4G.
The guy on chat said there are currently no 4G outages in my area.

Where they able to replicate your issue on any of the handsets at the TMobile store? If its a coverage issue all of the phones at the store should experience the same problem. Unless it's something specifically wrong with your phone.
You tried switching the network to CDMA only? That should not let your phone connect to 2g

Well guys, I went down to a t-mobile store and guess what?
4g isn't up yet in my area. They are currently working on it.
So that's kinda messed up...I mean, the coverage chart shows 4g up and running in my area already. I drove to the city next to mine (10 miles), and sure enough, 4G pops up.
the coverage map in green is not for 3G or 4G. its for the 2G network. try locking it on WCDMA ONLY if you don't get a signal you are outside of the 4G coverage area. I just use WiFi. what city is this?
I know the coverage map in green is voice, the purple/pink map is for 4g. That map shows my area covered under "4g very good."
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it go to 3G if you don't have 4G? And if you don't have 3G it goes to 2G(EDGE)?

Yes. But if your area has been updated to just hspa+ then if you leave that it'll go to edge

So basically, on a 4G phone you can't get 3G?
Let's say a 3G phone enters that area, it'll get 3G right?
From what I understand, 4g is basically 3g, so if you don't get 4g, you go to 2g.
Hi, am leaving Sprint. Looking to get a used phone (no contract), that will work on monthly plans like TMo prepaid, Straight Talk (ATT)) w/out a contract. I'm reading good things about both the older Vibrant (SGH-T959), and the newer 4g (SGH-T959V). It's clear from my research that people are successuflly unlocking and able to go back and forth between TMo and ATT SIMs on the older Vibrant. What isn't clear to me is can this be done on the newer SGH-T959V?
Again, I don't care much about 4g. 3g on AT&T is fine. But while on TMo, the 4G would be nice.
Thanks!

Thanks Brandon. I will then pick up a used, older SGH-T959 (Vibrant), unlock it, and then enjoy the 3g flexibility of both ATT & TMo. It's strange, the T959V is supposed to support the same ATT 3g band as the regular T959, but I can't find proof of this anywhere.

I have SGS4G and am using ATT. I have 3G with no issues...
posted original question here by accident
I am using unlocked 4g on Cincinnati Bell wireless and the 3g works fine.
However I have not been able to get 4g at all on my phone. When I put a Tmobile sim in it works fine one 4g.
I get a little over 2 mbps download on Cincinnati Bell 3g.
You can just unlock it, I'm using mine on att right now. Only thing is you have a backup sync for T-Mobile instead of att.

3G on AT&T will only work one one of the two UMTS bands: 1900 MHz.
Note that the Vibrant 4G doesn't have the 850MHz band (the other band that AT&T uses for 3G data.)
I've seen a posting that there's a way to activate the 850MHz band, but I have not verified that this works. If anyone has got this working so you're working on both bands on AT&T with your Vibrant 4G, let me know.
As an addendum to my own post, looks like the consensus is that while the Vibrant has an option of selecting the 850MHz UMTS band, it actually doesn't enable anything:

There's is now 4G coverage in the Houston area.My thunderbolt is already fully flash 3G and stable. Want to enable 4G on this phone. Cricket says requires sim card to work. The only sim cards are with the new LG and Samsung S3 by cricket. I know this is possible by using a unlocked 4G cdma LTE phone with sim slot. This is in the wrong thread. Verizon 4g will only work with Verizon. Verizon owns the entire 700mhz band that 4g functions off. This makes it so no other network can use Verizon's 4g

I dont think this is true as verizon can still lease their spectrum to other carriers like Straight Talk to piggy back off their network. The biggest problem for him is going to get a non-approved 4g device on verizons network. Verizon does not want people taking flagship devices to other discount carriers. Networks like Cricket dont actually own any spectrum, they just lease it from the bigger carriers at a discount. But verizon only allows a select group of ESN's to connect to it, usually for crappier phones. Some people will go so far as to clone their ESN to get it to work, but that requires special tools developed for your phone and can be quite tricky.

Well its pretty obvious that Verizon isn't leasing any part of their lte spectrum since there isn't one single optional carrier that a Verizon 4g phone will work with.

Is it possible to unlock all GSM bands to but used with Cricket 4G LTE service?
A possible NV Edit is probably all that is required
If I installed any other Sim Card Tmobile for example you get sim card unknown error and no signal
This is being done on other Verizon 4G LTE phones where people doing NV SEEM edits and unlocking all GSM bands. Using with prepaid carriers like Simple Mobile

Can the bands the radio receives be changed by software? Isn't the radio physically limited to a range of frequencies?
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
I was pretty sure that the radio was locked in to stay at the 700mhz spectrum that Verizon owns. I wouldn't be the least but surprised if it were locked in using hardware as well.

If memory serves, Cricket's LTE is courtesy of Verizon, I read it I think on Engadget a while back... Either way, it goes along with Verizon's Rural Coverage Plan to work with regional carriers to bring LTE to places where people would never expect it.
T-Mo works with AT&T phones because both are 1800Mhz or whatever for EDGE, so I would think if Sprint LTE is 700Mhz....

I doubt Sprint is using 700 they are probably using spectrum they got from the nextel acquisition (not looking stupid now lol). And of Sprint was using 700 and the had an lte roaming agreement, which they don't, with Verizon..... sprint lte phones would be working in allot more places, which they aren't.

If the info from the above article is correct you can see Sprint lte is not compatible with Verizon or ATT. In my searching I also found that apple made 3 different variants of the iPhone 5 with different lte frequency combinations.

those other Verizon 4g Lte phones, like the moto Bionic, have radios and antenna that support those GSM frequencies, and the engineering software tools to perform those tasks have been leaked.
Afaik, but I haven't looked in a while, after making those seem edits it unlocks Gsm/Edge for Att, T-Mobile and global roaming. I think it also enables hspa for Att but not T-Mobile due to frequencies the bionic's radio supports or doesn't support. It does not enable Lte for any other carrier.
its my understanding that the radio chips and antennas in the TB only support Cdma/Evdo and VZW's upper 700mhz block LTE
It also doesnt help that ril for the thunderbolt is closed source because of the svdo capabilities in it.
