Any breakthroughs in Arabic support?
As of now, using a third party keyboard to type Arabic results in broken letters, displaying from left-to-right. Arabic is supposed to be RTL, and the letters are supposed to be connected.
What ROM do you use?

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if its possible to add locales as an app without rooting the phone.
If so, is there anyone capable of doing that with arabic?
If not, does anyone have an idea if there will be an update that adds arabic so that i can read and write it?
Before froyo arabic was just the squares that pop up when it doesnt know the language.
With froyo, arabic can be seen but its letter for letter, in real script in arabic the letters are connected so its kind of awkward reading something like that letter for letter.
So please anyone with an idea, let me know what can be done or what will be done if you know of anything
yaa you can download this app from the market Morelocale 2 you can choose whatever locale you want buttttt that doesnt mean your device will support arabic you will have to root the couse if you add the locale the arabic letters will show like SQUARE LETTERS
you need arabic fonts and that doesnt happend without root unless if your device support arabic already
lemme know what happens
Hi,
One of the major things that bugged me in my WP7 trophy is rendering arabic text from left to right (like viewing Facebook).
Is this problem tackled in 7220 update?
It is really wired that Hebrew and Arabic support (generally RTL languages) are ignored so far.
Hi All,
I'm using I9003 with JPKE1 2.2.1 in English locale with Arabic enabled, when using the dial pad to search a contact, it only shows English names, doesn't search Arabic names, so I need to go to contacts and search by the qwerty keyboard which is noisy, I cant rename contacts to English since I have more than 600 contacts, anyone knows how to enable the dial pad to search contacts saved in language other than English?
Thanks...
i have not tried ur rom. I think there should be support by phone for such feature. May be in the next official gb rom they will support these features.
Your basic phone language is Arabic, right? Like you can change it in Settings->Locale and Text-> Language...If it is Arabic there..It will display Arabic contacts when you search using Dial pad... My friend tried this with Russian..It worked! Tried it out and tell me the results!

If you set your language as Arabic, I seriously don't know how you can *WRITE* English? Your keyboard language should also be Arabic, right?

What type of Hebrew support are you looking for?
The rom already supports reading Hebrew text, and has since Froyo... I do it all the time with no issue.
If you want to type in Hebrew, then you would need to install a keyboard that supports it, and there are a bunch out there now that do.
If you want all the menus and everything to show up in Hebrew, then the only ROM I've seen lately that does that is CM7, so wait until it's released.
Hi all and all the GT-I9210 owners,
I'm learning Arabic and I'm trying to use it on my phone, installed an Arabic keyboard but when I type, all the letters appear disjointed. As you know, Arabic is like running writing so imagine all the letters separated but in addition to that, each letter has a different shape depending how it connects to other letters so it's a real pain trying to read or write on the GT-I9210.
I had no issue with my previous phone as I installed custom roms with Arabic already supported in them but the GT-I9210 has no custom roms that I could find yet, especially with Arabic support on top of that.
Does anyone have any solution to this please??? Thanks.
