I have a Desire and i do love the phone and i have no problems with it other than the internal memory being too small for apps but with a new rom this has not really been a issue and with the coming official 2.3 upgrade i didn't really see any reason to consign the phone to a dusty shelf just yet....
However, today Orange rang me and offered me 1400 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet, unlimited landline calls to U.K. numbers and the new HTC Sensation for £25 per month as my contract is up. (I get £15 credit as a long time customer hence £25 per month)
This offer is only for today and as i've not seen the Sensation in the flesh, i'm wondering is it worth getting or waiting until the next gen of phones comes out, as some review i've read put the Sensation behind the Galaxy S2 and there is no way i'm having one of those.... it looks too flimsy for me.
what do you guys think??
I have just (lunch time) received my Sensation from Orange as an upgrade to my Desire. So far? I love it. The SGSII may have a slight edge on speed, but the build quiality on this thing surpasses it by a country mile. The deal they have offered you is for how long? 2 years? whatever, i'm sure you'll be pleased by the difference. Makes my Desire seem like something ancient. The changes in the Sense interface are remarkable. I rooted my Desire some time ago, running CM7 & Open Home 6. Sense blows this away. I'm busy downloading app after app after app with no sign of running out of space (yet). Though I was disappointed to find only 1Gb onboard compared with 1.5Gb of the Desire HD. The Orange handset came with an 8Gb microSD card in, so i've just swapped it out with the 16Gb I had in my Desire. Now to fill it up.....
I made the same move and wouldn't go back. HOWEVER, do NOt get it direct from Orange as they pre-load it with more crap than any other Carrier. Get it from Carephone Warehouse as they do unbranded handsets. This also means you'll get updates quicker than Orange users
The handset is a definite step up from the Desire, the screen alone makes it worth it. You won't regret it
my upgrade was from Desire to Sensation...i loved my little Desire, never had problems with it, but the Sensation blows it out of the water...it's a beautiful phone and a pleasure to use
I agree with n7of9.
Desire was the perfect phone and I didn't sell it (my rescue phone) but Sensation is outstanding. I'm just wainting the free bootlaoder and instal custom ROM and hope sure you will never regret to own it
see ya
i personally don't give a **** about rooting...the only reason i rooted my Desire was for more app space (oh ok, and to get rid of twatface crap)
Coming from desire as well, 100% happiness here.

I came from the Hero, now THAT is a step up!
My Wife has a Desire and when I use that now, it actaully feels dated (bit like my Hero did when I used her Desire). Sensation's just on another level!

do you know that you just made a funny? Sensation > Incredible S > Desire
..the gap between...get it...get it?
i was a little disapointed, i have the oled version of the desire, and it's screen is way better than the sensation (except the resolution ofcourse) also the screen of the desire is more responsive then the sensation, after a few days i returned my sensation to my phone provider as faulty because i think the touchscreen is defective.
I have the latest AceSmod007 cm7 rom so i am already very pleased with the latest sense version on my desire.
To the OP: I presume you don't mean that Orange only offered this upgrade toyou for today only, and that the upgrade has been available from today onwards?
As to whether or not the Sensation is worth it, as I've said in another thread on here (HD2 vs Sensation), for basic use, there is going to be very little difference in terms of performance. So if you don't mind your currently smaller display, and only surf the web, check your email etc., don't bother with the upgrade; it simply won't make that much of a difference.
Otherwise, you have to ask yourself, is your current Desire really too little for your needs?

i switched to the sensation from a desire to, realy great improvement, speed!
the only thing I miss is my AMOLED, the LCD is not as good as AMOLED, bad viewing angle, not as sharp
My upgrade was from Desire to Sensation.I loved my Desire I had no problems before with.I have a Sensation for Two weeks and I love her a little marvel!!
He has a big difference between the two and is worth changed.
just Wonderful!
thanks for the many reply's...
i nipped into my local carphone warehouse and had a quick play with the phone and i was impressed and i think i'm going tell orange send me the phone asap as i can't really see another phone coming from HTC before christmas which is going to be better??
if i'm factually incorrect here, please feel free to correct me!!
orange me gave a bit more time to think it over, as i told the woman in retentions i was not signing up to 18 more months without seeing the phone first. And after thinking about it i could wait forever for the next "great" phone coming soon and never get anything as i'm constantly waiting...
I just switched form the Desire to Sensation, for a week now. Here are some observations:
- I thought I would miss the hardware buttons on the Desire. I don't.
- It has a bigger screen, but size it's much bigger. Perhaps just as thin.
- Battery life is much better. In fact, you can put EVO 3D's battery (which has even larger capacity) on it to get even better battery life.
- Camera is a lot better.
- qHD resolution rules.
I do miss the super deep black, super wide view angle, and super quick response time of Desire's AMOLED screen however. Pentile never bothers me, although some people hate it. It takes a few days to adjust to going back to LCD screen, but qHD resolution is worth it. And Sensation's screen is pretty good to start with.
Don't expect everything to run much faster though. Both the Desire and the Sensation uses the same CPU core - Scorpion, although the one on Sensation is running at 1.2Ghz and it has two of them... What I mean is, on single threaded applications that are CPU bounded, you will see at most 20% speed improvement. The Scorpion is somewhere in between a Cortex A8 and Cortex A9 core, so on CPU power alone it is not as fast as other Cortex A9 equipped SoC like the Nvidia Tegra 2. If you constantly run a lot of apps and switch between them often, you will see significant speed improvement though. That's the virtue of being a dual core phone. However, the GPU on the Sensation is much faster, so if you game a lot you will see big improvement.

HTC seems to refresh their line up every 1-2 quarters. It is very likely that they will have something around Christmas time. Not sure whether it will be before Christmas or after though. Word is that Ice Cream Sandwich will launched before the end of the year, so the next high end HTC phone may well be a Ice Cream Sandwich phone (may or may not be Nexus branded). But that's half a year away... I wouldn't wait if I were you.
Hi all I'm in need of a new phone. I want to stick with android and I have it down to either the Samsung Galaxy S 2, the HTC sensation or the HTC evo 3D. In order of importance I'm looking for :
1- Battery life... I need the phone to last all day through emailing, texting and phone calls with Bluetooth. I have the Samsung captivate right now and I charge it 2 or 3 times a day and have tried almost every Rom put there to try and improve battery life.
2- ability to flash roms although I think they're all pretty easy
3- built quality
4- camera quality
As far as performance I'm guessing they're all great considering they're dual core.
Input is welcome. Thanks
I would like to write HTC sensation, but if you want better life of battery you should choose SGS2
SGS2 is good, HTC not too good!

I have heard from peeps with the EVO 3D that the battery life isn't anything spectacular. On par with the EVO 4G which means it is just "OK".
Does Rogers have any kind of tryout policy like some others? I know on Sprint you have 30-40 days to try the phone and return for different one if you don't like it. This is what I would do. All good phones and there is good/bad with each.
Yes Rogers has a tryout for 30 minute talk time and I think 14 days. The evo is from Rogers so I might try that. The galaxy s2 and the sensation are from bell so I would have to unlock them which means I couldn't return them.

Seeing that you're a Samsung user now, maybe you'd like to try out HTC. But the SGS has one thing over HTC phones: a sort of internal SD card that handles data like Data2SD--without needing to root or flash anything. That, plus longer battery life should make SGS II the winner. (it pains me to say that, being an HTC fanboy)
Easy choice. I don't care about 3D on a cellphone. To me it's a gimmick. Plus Sprint does not offer their lame 4G in San Diego while TMobile offers their HSPA+. Therefore I would go with the Sensation. It averaged 6.5 Mbps down and 1.75 upload using SpeedTest. I can live with that.

^Sounds like you know nothing and just want to shoot down Sprint, which has nothing to do with the OP's question. Hmmm...
Anyways.
I love my E3D, but if you're looking for battery life I'd say SGSII. AS far as build quality goes, the Sensation and E3D have a FANTASTIC build quality, especially the Sensation. The Sensation also looks the best out of the three as well if you ask me. The dedicated camera button and high(er) quality screen on the E3D make it good as well, and also the available RAM on the E3D sets it apart. Once it gets rooted the development will wayyyy take off for the E3D too. All the phones have their benefits and downsides though, like the fact that the E3D can't do 1080p recording. The SAMOLED+ screen on the SGSII is spectacular too, but unfortunately it isn't qHD res like the Sensation and EVO 3D.
What it really comes down to is what fits your needs within a phone but they're all solid phones to me.
I've handled all three as well, so I'm not just throwing **** out there.
SGSII
Sent from the most interesting device in the world.
Having tested each phone, first the sensation for a week and then the SGS2 I would recommend the SGS2.
The sensation has a nicer ui by far. Sense 3.0 has a lot of bells and whistles that just make using it so nice. But after using the SGS2 i feel the great ui is a bit of a mask for weaker hardware. Albeit a very beautifully crafted mask that I would commend them on.
The SGS2 does have better use but for heavy usage the SGS you'll be recharging at 8pm vs the sensation at 6pm. It's not earth shatteringly different. I found out of the box the SGS2 was set up to conserve batteries more than the sensation (quicker screen timeouts, lower screen brightness, etc) however the sensation can be adjusted to narrow the gap.
In terms of screen quality the higher resolution on the sensation get's blown away by the better quality of picture on the SGS2, i constantly have people commenting on how nice my screen looks [Super AMOLED plus >>> qHD]
In the end i'd summarize it as the Sensation wins the out of the box Software contest but the SGS2 wins the hardware contest.
FWIW: You can change software but you can't replace hardware.
just my opinion/review
Thanks for all the input. Bought the Galaxy S2. Rooted, unlocked with the martket galaxy s unlocker and have been using the villain rom for the last 24hrs. Very smooth so far and absolutely no FC's or any issues. Battery life on day 1 has been pretty good after surfing, texting, some light games and 2 hours talk time over bluetooth, gmail, exchange mail etc. I have 45% left after 14hrs which is way better than previous phones.
The phone does feel very "plasticy" compared to the Galaxy S which had a nice solid feel and that metal back cover and even compared to some of the other phones I've had the last little while (X10, Desire Z, Droid2 Global, etc.), it is very light though, oh and the screen is fantastic!
SGS2 for my future. Dualcore & super amoled support 64GB.
Also very thin, I really like this phone.

While I was out walking the dog today, my Nexus One slipped from my hand and landed on the asphalt. The screen didn't take too kindly to that, and now I'm looking for a new phone. I'm on T-Mobile, and have had a G1 and Nexus One. I use Cyanogenmod as a daily driver, and have read about HTC releasing an unlockable bootloader, etc, so that all sounds fine, but I was asking about general build quality. How do you like it? Would you recommend it to someone coming from a Nexus One? How would it stack up against the G2X in your books?
Thanks for your responses.
Well I believe that if you're with Tmobile, you can't go wrong with the sensation 4G. It is arguably their best phone. The build quality is excellent and there isn't a sexier phone out on the market right now. It's a very capable phone, very fast ( not as fast as the G2x cause the G2x is running vanilla android) but it's still fast and when the devs make custom ROMs for this bad boy, we will get the true potential of this phone. Like Goku transforming into a super saiyan!
I have both the G2X and the Sensation. I will tell you that the only things the G2X has over the Sensation is a faster UI when phones are kept stock settings, its display has better contrast and, well, that's about it....
I use my Sensation much more because of the bigger display with higher resolution. It puts more content on the screen and text looks super clear/crisp. Apps and web browsing is faster in the Sensation than the G2X. Google maps takes a while to load as you scroll on the G2X but the Sensation loads maps instantely. The two games I play religiously look better on my Sensation and also run smoother. The camera is better and the video recorder is miles better. It also records in stereo sound instead of mono like the G2X.
On to the good part. Once you push Sense aside and load ADW or LP, the phones UI flies. It becomes as fast, if not faster than the G2X. In the end, Sense is giving it a laggy feel since HTC forgot to optimize it. That is why I'm not using Sense but like I said. A custom launcher will make this phone the fastest you have ever used.
The only thing I would change is the WiFi signal strength. Its not bad but I've had better. Good luck.

Thanks a lot. Your post was very informative. Looks like I'll be getting the sensation, because, like you said, the hardware is awesome, but sense is the limiting factor. I'll be getting CM7 on there as soon as nightly builds start. Thanks again
I just got the Sensation yesterday and I've had the G2x since day one and the Sensation is a better experience. I immediately installed ADW, rooted and froze Sense. The Sensation is so much smoother. I really like the G2x, but I love the Sensation.

I'm from the Galaxy S and I do think Sensation is a good choice.
Htc has certainly put a lot of work in its first dual-core phone.Although nowadays some software problems are seen but it's just htc's style. The hardware of this phone is rather good.
I got s-off yesterday and has started to try custom roms recently. It's great to be available to such interesting event again.
The Sensation, aside from Sense, will feel the most like the Nexus One physically. The G2x will look most like to Nexus One when you are actually using it. I would buy the Sensation. The LG is a faster device overall, no excuses, but it is not a significant speed difference and it is easy to choose the higher resolution screen and significantly better battery life of the Sensation.
Sent from my LG-V909 using XDA Premium App
Agreed with everyone above. The Sensation is a freaking good phone, and opening up to a lot of possibilities. The only shame is the lack of optimisation for Sense 3 : it's pretty laggy, and doesn't run as smooth as it could.
But if you try to install a custom senseless rom, you'll find it's amazingly fast.
I had the G2X, ended up with a sensation. I love the device, and agree with most of what people have said before me. Here are my biggest gripes though:
-Touch screen can be quite finicky and laggy. This is off and on and I really hope it's software related.
-Gaming and other very intensive activities can eat up to 1% battery life a minute, which is quite sucky, even for heavy use. Light-moderate usr results in pretty solid battery, life, however, lasting at least a day. Basically don't use it for multimedia or navigating unless it's plugged in (which kinda ruins the point IMO)
-The WiFi is honestly quite terrible. The signal is below average, it often drops randomly unless you have full bars, cases cut a bit of the signal, and if you put a hand on the back top of the device, as you would normally in landscape mode, it kills up to 30db (sometimes more) of signal, often killing it entirely if you don't have a very strong signal.
-There are a couple minor annoyances regarding keyboards, text input, and such. Not a huge deal but still faulty.
Still, it's a great device, and I think it will get quite amazing after custom roms if you can stand the sub-par WiFi. And who knows, maybe HTC can release some sort of new back cover that helps WiFi. (We can dream haha)
Personally i think the sensation is a way to quickly sell phones before the xmas period when HTC release yet another new phone. The Sensations spec is nothing special, its so similar to the Desire HD its unreal with the additional cpu, camera and screen. The weight of the sensation is extremely heavy compared to say the galaxy s2. if you dont already have a DHD i would say its a nice phone to have but for the sake of a few months would you not wait for the xmas models?
Or failing that drift over to the dark side and buy a samsung which is similar price yet better spec
From someone coming from a Blackberry, I love my new Sensation. It's got a great screen, and like a previous poster said, extremely snappy after loading up a custom launcher. I found that Launcher Pro has given me the best results. I would buy from Costco and try out the phone for 30 days or so. They don't have a restocking fee.
In my opinion, the Sensation is a great phone! Coming from a problematic G2x, the sensation is a better phone overall. Not trying to bash the G2x, but the couple phones that I had were just bad lol. The only bad thing I could say about the sensation is the WiFi issue....which disconnects 1-3times per day, which isn't a deal breaker for me to get a new phone.
Again, not trying to bash or flame phones, just stating my personal thoughts and experiences. So yeah, is highly recommend the sensation

I am pleased with this phone and fully .. i have S-OFF,and leeDROID rom,for now its working oke,its stable and fast.. and i like this screen I can not scratch it
i love my sensation i have a g2x too but the bigger screen is better but the g2x screen is brighter the wifi signal is stronger on the sensation and more clear when on wifi calling. games run smoother on g2x and speaker phone is better but the sensation looks like a nexus one and feels like it to so sensation all the way. i hate that silver strip on the back of the g2x it gets scratch eze thats my 2cents of both phones
I'm loving my Sensation, it's a lot faster than my HTC Desire was and can do a whole lot more. And now that we have S-OFF it's even better running a custom ROM and can only get better in time.
Lets face it. The sensation is a poor design. Put wifi on and put your hand over the top and watch the bars drop. What high end phone does that ****. Hi all,
first i'm new to this forum and i seize the opportunity to say hello to everyone!
I'm planning to buy a new smartphone and i'm undecided about what phone between Samsung Galaxy S2 and the htc Sensation.
I really Like the Htc Sense and the sensation cut and I'm oriented to buy this one!
On the other hands GSII is more powerfull, more capacious but IHMO less handsome! It has also a more resistant and lightfull screen than the sensation!
Please XDA USERS answer to this poll, and explain me the PROS & CONS!
Well judging from the enormous HTC fanbase on xda, the sensation is more likely the one to win the poll. However I'm still going to go out and say the sgs 2 is the best in efficiency (obvious from the fact that little ram is used and the fluidity of the UI) for android. Any other android device out there that can play a 1080p youtube video?
However it really depends on what you want, eye candy or efficiency.
The myTouch 4G Slide plays 1080p like its 360p... So smooth. But, GS2 for sure...
Yes,i totally agree with Kailkti...I've pesonally used the SGS2 and i was an owner of the 1st so i have to say i was blown away with it's speed! It's VERY fast and quite smooth but also simple to use and quite elegant actually...plus there are lots of custom roms and kernels to use to modify the device as you like!Even overclock the cpu/gpu plus more...
I think sensation is no match for SGS2...
another important aspect that i would deal with is also the battery lasting!
I really stress my current phone (my old dear nokia n95 8 gb)! I send like 100 sms per day! Are those devices able to live all the day long?
Im not you so I can't speak for you. However for me this can last two days for me. If you are spend a day sending sms it might last. Granted your screen isn't on for more than 8-10hrs.
my friend own a sgs2 and my brother is using htc / my phones are in my sig i personally used both but htc leads the game
Samsung SGS2 = poor build quality in every 4 months u will need to buy new acc for it ..... / not that good with small hands / powerfull but do we really need that
HTC Sensation = Good build quality / good battery timing with data on / looks beautiful in all sized hands / every upcoming apps / games / new os supported
Htc the best ...
I really do not know what of those 2 smartphones buy!
SGS2 Is more powerfull and the battery lasts more than the htc! But The sensation IS SO COOL!!! Damn!

I've owned both in the past and to be honest I enjoyed the Sensation a lot more. It just feels so good in the hands and the UI is addiciting as candy (somewhat). I was planning on getting one a few weeks ago but held off since Bell was releasing the HTC Raider. Been using the new Bold for awhile but that died soooo I get a free replacement from Best Buy and with that I'm most likely gonna go with the raider.
Moves as a question
Sensation OWNERS let me know how long do your batterys live!!
Ps. Please submit the poll!
up message! I hope that it is not against the rules!
Former HD2 owner and a great phone it was too and i generally like HTC, however nothing can beat the SGSII in almost every aspect (ICS beta almost ready too)
HTC makes better phones but galaxy s 2 is better than sensation
double post! Sorry!
As an extremely heavy user (two phones, both dead in eight hours or less) my Sensation's battery doesn't last that long unless I use an Anker extended (1900Mah) and a powerskin case (another 1500Mah) but I'm not the norm either. I love my Sensation (and I'm living in a house with a Nexus S, Sensation, Rezound, Vivid, Nexus One and two Galaxy tabs (10.1))

The S2 is better as far as performance and screen quality goes but the build quality feels cheap and Touchwiz is gross. Sense is much better.
Both have their pros and cons I guess...

i am also in this dillema. curently owning an htc desire. wanted to go for the sensation but even if I expected nothing but good build quality from HTC i see hundreds of post on xda about dust under the screen, death grip and poor screen quality. so now i don't know wich to buy. btw htc sense is the only thing that keeps me near the sensation but i think that the sgs2 with a third party launcher would be even nicer. any suggestions?
As title suggest, has anyone upgraded to a Sensation from a Desire, If so what are your opinions/views?
I have and im slightly underwhelmed by the Sensation Maybe I was expecting too much but the only advantage i can see is a larger screen and a faster phone.
Maybe i need to give it more time?
How about a massive improvement on internal storage?

Hey, nice to see you again 325i
Yes, there are quite a few of us who came from Desire.
I felt the same as you, underwhelmed. After some time you realise, yes, you were expecting too much. Sensation is a better phone, but not THAT MUCH better. Desire is one of the most supported phones by devs, and it had s**t load of ports which is great. Sensation is not going to he like Desire unroll there are a lot newer phones out, like another 10 months I reckon, with newer sense version. Sensation is going to have a lot longer life than Desire due to hardware being on par with newer phones longer than Desire was. Quad core is not going to change much. And I'm sure that Senny will support next Android version easily, and probably one after.
Just enjoy using it, it a good phone, but far from groundbreaking as much as Desire was.

What were you expecting?
I did the same as you some time ago. The desire was very stable and the sensation has severel minor problems but the adequate on board memory of the sensation was, in itself, enough for me!
Hi, I've just got a Sensation xe. I came from a HTC HD2, then a Desire, then a Desire HD. As I always pass the handsets to my completely non tech' savvy family who are not delicate with their technology, I've never rooted / flashed and always remained on stock just in case of warranty requirements. I love the extra on board memory of the Desire HD / Sensation Xe and look at each phone as step in the right direction. They're always familiar and do everything I could possibly want of them (except last 2 or 3 days on the battery) so I'm more than happy with both build quality (and warranty work by HTC, can only speak form experience but very slick when I needed to use it) / Sense etc. The only thing and it is minor, is I just wish I could get the Desire HD keyboard onto my stock sensation xe and despite what all the figures suggest, the screen in the xe definately "seems" skinnier than my Desire HD.
Evolution not revolution as they say and each small step is one in the right direction. (For me anyway). Each to their own but I can understand your feelings if you expected to go from Space shuttle to USS Enterprise!
Yeah dude, I get what u're saying. the desire is the same sort of device as the sensation, can run the same software. So not much of a scope for improvement in the user experience.
Let's see what's up for grabs in 18 montths when my contract expires.
I came from a Desire too, my XE has plenty of internal storage and a larger screen which is good. On the down side though, my phone signal is pants in comparison.

Thanks for the reply, as you say hopefully ill get used to it.
Cheers
I also came from the Desire and feel a bit underwhelmed. At first the biggest disappointment was the screen, that seemed washed out compared to the Desire's amoled screen. After about seven months with the Sensation these things are a bit of a let down:
- There is not enough RAM. Ever so often I get the white htc screen when pressing the home button. Anyone know if ICS / Sense 3.5 will consume even more RAM?
- The phone hangs from time to time - mostly while installing / updating apps ( Also RAM related?).
- Radio signal seems to be very unstable, jumping constantly between 1 - 5 bars ( even when on GSM only). It will also often skip between 3g and H, which never happened with the Desire (always either E or H).
Another issue is that there is a spot (~1x2 mm) at the center of the screen that is brighter than the rest. It's most visible on black/dark/medium dark screens, but also appears as a grey speck on a white screen. Its not visible on light grey background.
I'm consider sending the phone back for service/repair, but I'm not keen on restoring all my apps and settings either.
My friend got a Sensation on upgrade and intended to sell it to get a new turbo for his scooby but made the mistake of playing with mine before selling it.Now he has sold his desire and says that the sensation is way better than his desire ever was.Runs games sooo smooth and being the XE he loves the headphones included
A 4 months ago i passed my Desire to my GF and get Nexus S... in 5 days I changed with Sensation.
I never expected something revolutionary .. but it`s better phone next generation.
With more memory, faster dual core CPU, more adequate battery life (I used my Desire as a second phone due the need of changing 2 batt`s during the office hours. Now my Sensation`s battery is lasting about 10 business hours... and 2 days @ weekend)
There is still a tons of ponts that can be upgraded.. but it`s a technology/pricing, marketing, sales .. and so on decision.

and you don't consider those as major improvements? i do
the Desire was sexy, the Sensation is sexier
I was like this :
lg optimus one > desire > incredible s > sensation.
liked incredible the most, but sensation is much better regarding the dual core and bigger display. better memory performace, better cpu and graphics
(ICS is also promissing)
I'm not so sure, in hindsight I think I was happier with my Incredible S. The 4" screen was just the right size for me, the camera was much better out of the box, although the HD recording was only at 20fps and not 30. But to be fair, what phone has a good HD camera?
I've just come from the trusty old desire to sensation.
Rooted, s-off, ICS Rom etc etc added within an hour of
it being delivered
First impressions are looking good, nice to have a bigger
screen, feels a lot snappier, internal memory is a major
plus point.
Sitting the desire and sensation side by side you can clearly
see its an 'upgrade' not in massive ways, but an upgrade
non the less.
I've just put the desire back to stock to send away for a fix
before selling it, and to be honest I hate what it was out of
the box, how people ranted and raved about the thing ill
never know.
Think ill be sticking to HTC from now on, the desire was a
workhorse, solidly built, unlike other brands which feel like
toys, the sensation feels the same in that regard, feels solid,
looks good, specs that will no doubt be fine for the next year
or maybe 2, seems to be a good community behind it, like the
desire.
Yes the sensation hasn't left me thinking wow, what great phone,
but let's face it, coming from the desire, which is still an excellent
phone and is still holding its ground, I really don't know what could
be added to a phone at this point in time that would give the same
'wow' factor as the desire gave.
I think the 'smartphone' has come of age, anything from now on will
just be gimmicky, and slight upgrades to this and that, I don't think
anything is going to be 'groundbreaking' in the next few years atleast.
So IMO desire > sensation is a worthy 'upgrade' when you look at the
whole package and compare it to what else is available at the moment.
But I guess only time will tell..
I also came from the desire, then desire HD, now the Sensation.
I will usually wait until about a few months after a new phone has come out and then buy it on ebay or craigslist, then sell my old one. It usually only ends up costing me about $40 to upgrade.
While I am really happy that there are ICS roms for the Sensation, i'm not as blown away as when I first moved from the desire to the desire HD.
I do prefer the quality of screen on the sensation compared to the dulled out desire hd, and love the multi touch capabilities of anything above the Desire. Though HTC will have to up their game a bit as my next phone will be coming with a contract renewal, and if samsung puts out anything like the Galaxy SII X again with a quad core I might be jumping ship.
