With FOTA 1.52.720.3 Revolutionary failed to root my device.
Should I wait for any update from Revolutionary to S-OFF?
Any help plz...!!
You should install required firmware package and do a superwipe before installing revolutionary.

That is , you have to downgrade your firmware with a supported one.
Download the firmware with HBOOT 1.17 from sensation development forum and then flash it by placing it on the root of your sdcard. Then try revolutionary...
Hello
Use this tutorial =>
How to Install
1. Put all the three files (su-bin.zip, firmware zip and rom zip - available in the download section) on the Root of your SD card (this is for ease of access, but if u prefer not up to you , but firmware zip MUST BE in the Root of ur sd card)
2. Boot into bootloader and when prompt to update, choose yes and wait till it finished, in the middle of the process it willl reboot dont worry just let it finish what its doing, DONT INTERRUPT
3. Then delete your firmware file from ur sd card, probably through your computer.
4, after that boot in to recovery, SUPERWIPE , flash the rom, then after it finishes You MUSTstraight away flash the Su Bin Zip file (ONLY FOR 1.0.0) you downloaded (For root access).
Then Let it boot and Enjoy !!!

Hey guys, I just rooted my phone and put in Virtuous's AOSP senseless ics rom. I was doing to same for my brother's, but I mistakenly updated the hboot to 1.23.000 halfway through.
What I did was:
I followed "[Guide] to installing s-off, ..."
Did step 1 and started step 2.
In step 2, instead of using the PG58IMG file for clockwork recovery, I used the PG58IMG file to update the firmware for the ics rom
The problem is that whenever I enter hboot, it checks for the PG58IMG file, and when i try using the one for clockwork recovery, it says "model id incorrect" and prompts me to press power to reboot.
Now, the phone has s-off, but doesn't have root. its hboot version is 1.23.0000.
Is there any way I can downgrade the version to 1.18 or less, or maybe get the clockwork recovery in the updated ics PG58IMG file?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I got the same error with the new firmware til I did super cid. Its easier than rooting I think. Sorry no link I'm on my phone. Just google super cid sensation xda and follow the steps in the thread.

Oh n u still have clockwork recovery. Just remove your sd card and put it in your pc. Then take off the PG58img file you installed through your pc. Then u should b able to go to recovery.

I bougth a new HTC Sensation 4G and decided to upgrade to ICS 4.0.3.
I don't know too much about how to flash, root etc. So I googled it and found a forum. I was successful with the S-OFF part so I went to step 2 root my phone.
I downloaded a file PMG58IMG and placed that on my SD and tried to update trough HBoot. It asked me if i want to update I did volume +.
After it was finished I got this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
So I turned it off and started it up, it started to boot loop every time after the HTC Logo, turn off starts up HTC Logo and it keeps doing that.
I went into Hboot and saw that my HBOOT version that was 1.18 has been changed to 1.27
I do have to mention that I did clear or wiped anything before doing this. I just opened the box and started with the process. So I think I had Android 2.3 I'm not sure about that.
I tried to do the PMG58IMG thing again several times with other PMG58IMG file but keep getting this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
Please help me solve this problem thank you...

Hey,
Check your MID and edit the android-info.txt file accordingly. or download one of these matching your phones details. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
cheers.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
The pg58img file is a firmware update, not for gaining root (which is done by flashing a superuser binary zip in recovery).
The problem is now you have firmware incompatible with your rom, causing bootloop.
The solution, first thing to try is remove SD, delete the pg58img, reinsert and try to boot.
If it fails you need to redo the pg58img process with a firmware compatible with Android 2.3 if that's what you had. You need firmware version 3.12 or lower.
If this fails you may need to run ruu and start over.

So I downloaded this firmware T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
The firmware was updated successful and I now back on my home screen. It is NOT boot looping any more.
I want to wipe everything and put ICS 4.0.3 on it. I guess my phone is not fully rooted yet, right? So what do I have to do next?
I do have to mention that my Hboot version has been changed from 1.27 to 1.23.
Some details about my phone:
Android 2.3.4 Sense 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.13

You update in bootloader same as you did for firmware.
To note also, for newer ics roms you will most likely need to flash newer fw than 3.12.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
The recovery file is not a PG58IMG file or zip file it a image file.
I downloaded my PG58IMG file here:
T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
That PG58IMG file worked for me to update the firmware. My question is when I download the recovery file which is a image file what should I do with it because I put it on my SD and fastboot it and it doesn't work.
I see the problem, the links from where you are downloading have the files improperly compiled, that's the problem.
Go to page three of this thread, someone posted a properly compiled CWM Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277975

Thank you, I was thinking about that and I did it before you replied. I downloaded the Recovery file that is a image file and made a PMG58IMG.zip file. After that I copied the .txt file from the firmware PMG58IMG.zip file and paste that in the Recovery zip. I was a success I'm permanently rooted.
Now I have to do the next steps hope I'll do them correctly.

When i booted in to hboot after putting the zip on my sd card and back into the phone, it asked me if i wanted to update i clicked volume up. it did its thing then asking me to reboot and i clicked yes.
it shut off came back on to the htc start up screen went to the next one and shuts off and repeats itself. its never ending i try to click recovery and it just goes back into bootloop....i try to click factory reset it just starts then gives me a ret triangle......what did i do wrong...someone please help me get out of this mess.

no root and soff are different
check for soff at hboot
deleting stock programs are difficult but with titanium backup you can freeze the system apps at least afaik
So what i must do to be able to delete stock programs? S-off or root?
You need s-off to delete apps as you are editing /system. However you can flash a custom rom which will install without all the junk apps. You need to unlock with HTC.dev then root. Be aware this has limitations, you cannot flash firmwares or use advanced fastboot commands. S-off is superior.
If you decide the flash, I recommend sharpy strpt cm9 - 8 apps when flashed!

You are already rooted. All the custom roms are rooted also supersu is the app which manage the root privilages so you are rooted.also I guess you have complete unlocked bootloader and soff
Which are required for custom Rom installation.
(Verify these on bootloader you'll have revolutionary in pink and soff when you boot into bpootloader)
For stable Rom I reccomend ARHD

Unfortunately you cant S-off your phone right now, only with HTCDev, but this will not give you a proper S-off. You will have to wait untill Juopunutbear is released, this will give you proper S-off and allow you to do everything with your phone.
1. Need to Unlock Bootloader at http://htcdev.com/
2. After the download is complete Unlock Bootloader Recoverymanager file on the new computer to run on the DC Recover
Note: The above must be on the phone setting -> application -> On the next Unkown Sources and Development -> USB Debugging pop up
After the download is complete Recoverymanager file to extract, open up the program, press start, select download recovery, select HTC Sensation, select CWM 5.0.2.0 (pyramid) and click download and flash
After the show flash inflate a screen that asks Yes, No, cancel. Make sure you select No, the phone will reboot into recovery. If you choose the other 2 will not install.
After running Recovery may be normal in nhe1 thats alright.
3. After installation is complete you use CWM file attached to root su: in recovery, select the file and select install from zip file Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip.
Is this method also valid for S-ON ?

Ok I am going to ask the obvious questions here.
1. Is the file name PG58IMG.zip? If not the stock recovery will not flash it.
2. Do you have the file on the root of your SD card? If not the stock recovery will not detect the file. If you do not know what the root of your SD card is, it imeans it is not in a folder.
3. Have you tried re downloading just in Case it is a bad down load?
4.have you checked your SD card with a reader to make sure it is a readable card?
5. Are you positive your bootloader is unlocked?
Edit:
6. Have you tried flashing it via ADB fastboot commands?

Yes if you flash the official OTA file it will remove root. You only have to super CID if you want to be able to flash official ROMs from other regions besides your own. But saying that it is still a good idea to Super CID as some Custom ROMs may require it depending on what the ROM base is.

But when I flashed 3.32 stock ROM(which is required for the control bear method to work), there was a Wifi error . I thought this was a temporary glitch and it will go away after I install another ROM..
So I proceeded to S-OFF using the wire trick
Now when I installed a custom ROM it read Wifi error...
I looked into many posts and tried different methods but nothing worked..

maybe in your case is unecessary but it worths the try
flash the boot.img of the rom manually
see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 (only extra 1 step) or
do a full wipe and reflash the rom
Reflashing is maybe the only thing you could do
Or try flashing the radio

How exactly do I flash the radio?sorry for all the questions..I did find a ROM that solved the problem and I noticed that it had a stock kernel..does that mean that I can never flash a ROM with a custom kernel? WTF to that:banghead:

You can flash a matching kernel if your So Off. And you can flash a radio if your S off. Here is how. This is how I flash my radio. The radio file is a pg58img file. It must continue to be named pg58img, nothing added to the name. Place the pg58img file at root of SD card. Do this by coping the file from your computer to your device. Then once file is placed on root of SD card pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power, the device will recognise the file and ask to update, power for yes. Once the update is finished you MUST remove the pg58img file from root of SD card or when in bootloader the device will continue to try to update over and over and over. So make sure to delete the pg58img file when finished. That's it. That's how you update the radio. I suggest you read on the radio site how to update because if your unsure of any steps you can brick your device. So I'm going to attach a link for updating radio. There are a couple ways to do it. I think this way is easiest. But do read the directions so everything is clearly understood. Hope this helps you.
