CM9 Rom freeze - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, I flashed CM9 last night and so far so good. I just have a slight problem with my Xoom freezing and rebooting.
I will be watching YouTube for 10-15 minutes, my device will stop playing the video, audio hangs up then reboots and everything will be okay until I watch another video. Seems like the GPU is having some issues somewhere and somehow.
When I play a game on my Zoom it will play fine for 10 minutes or so, very crisp clear and snappy. After that time period, the game will literally go into slow motion. I have to hit the home button, go into settings>apps>(game)>force close then go back into the game and will all be a-okay.
Just curious if anyone has insight on this, ever seen this or experienced. I love this Rom but on the other hand I didn't have problems with ICS EOS
Thank you all in advanced.

I don't think it is a cm9 thing ....I tried every rom out there and I am getting fc on browser and YouTube ... especially YouTube were I find it is just very slow when loading . Starting to really piss me off , I really didn't notice it until I started using the Xoom a little more the usual.. I know it,s flash that the browser is having a problem with , and i have tried the top browser's out there and sooner then later all off them crash .

Google Earth

Has anyone else has a problem using Google Earth ... When I use it and start to zoom in it seems fine then all of a sudden my phone freezes and I have to do a hot reboot....
I have noticed this. Not sure as to the cause.
Its even worse on stock GB ... At least running a custom rom I'm able to use it... Just when I zoom it freezes at a certain point...
It freezes on me too like after 5 min of starting it

what LAG are you speaking of.....scrolling?, Loading?, be more specific so others can say if they had/have that problem.
personally i have not seen ANY lag on this phone until i installed Go Launcher<<<
which will will cause some lag.
What I mean is a freezing when I go to my text masseges. It will lock for a second. I only have 3 apps. Nothing in the background running

may just be a glitch sort of thing......unless your last one was having the EXACT same lag with the messeging. i would say load up a ROM or even reflash the stock rom that you have and it may go away.

Thats No lag. It's take a sec or two to open. The cpu needs time to react.

2 seconds to open an app IS LAG......lol
weather its an app drawer or messaging, mine opens in just under a sec everytime..........
but im on a custom ROM and using ADW Ex.
It's not even 2 seconds. It's like it's hanging up

Does it lag during calls and hang up?
That's so weird... as soon as I press messages, it snaps into action and is open before I can even react.
There's something obviously wrong with that one. Try rooting it and running a custom ROM, if that doesn't help, then exchange it.
No lag here.. rooted and stock rom and overclocked... Insane speed..
Well it doesn't do it all the time now. But my.original one did it too. It's way less than a second. It must of been all in my head because everything else works very fast so I think I'll wait till I see my update to the 2.3.6 & go from there.

new launcher and sms program do wonders....
I'll try that. Thank you very much for all the help

Problem Fixed . called texh support explained whats wrong & they were very nice even though i was over my 30 days by 3 days , they called a store went off on them because they denied me the exchange & told them to do whatever i want done because they have to make me happy . LOL so i went & said I've had it with the black one & got the white one & couldnt be happier , thank you all for all the help
i think there isn't lag but it's slower coming from an i9100.
scrolling isn't as smooth, and the messaging app is a little funky at times too.
but idk the difference is negligible they're both awesome phones
Flash Sky Ice Cream Sandwich Rom is Amazing!

Bluetooth streaming problem with stock gb

Hey...anyone else having choppyness issues with stock 2.3.5? Mine was working fine on froyo, but since updating, bt music streaming is choppy. My bt works fine with phone audio, it's just music. This happened with totally stock music player on totally stock phone. I have since rooted and have tried a few music players after deleting stock player. All with the same results. I'm running v20c on Rogers if that matters. I've been watching xda like a hawk since gb hoping to see someone else with this trouble and a fix, but no luck yet. As I said before, it was working flawlessly on froyo, but if going back is the only option I won't do it. HATED froyo. Really bad battery life and super annoying random shutdowns nearly put me over the edge.

I use my O3D in my car connect it via bluetooth and listen to my music all the time, apart from my battery dying quicker then usual i don't have the choppy music problem at all. I have played music in my car with froyo, 21a, 21b, 20e, 20f and now 21d no choppy music at all you might want to clear your cache...
Power off the phone, once powered off hold volume down and power the phone will come on and die again thats normal keeping your finger on the volume down, let go of power and re press and hold power as you continue to hold volume down. When the phone comes on let go of power but keep holding volume down.
Once ur in your recovery menu now if your on stock recovery just clear everything except date.. If your on clockwork recovery clear cache and dalvik and then restart your phone...
Tried the cwm steps but no change.

only used it one time but it seemed to work fine for me.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I've never flashed a rom before, but maybe I'll try it. Does anyone have a suggestion for a working bt rom?

CM9 stingray YouTube freezing

Almost once a day YouTube will begin to stutter, then the system will become unresponsive, ultimately requiring a hard reset. Seemed to have persisted through out cm9 for me.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I have the same issue with my Nex7. It will get stuck loading for hrs if let it. I just use a browser now because the app is too annoying. It would happen before I was rooted as well.

[Q] Display shuts off while watching videos in stock browser.

I've been on the hunt for an answer for a few weeks. I'm using CM11 nightlies and when I'm watching a video in the browser my screen dims and eventually shuts off as if nothing was playing. I did see a few people post with the same issue in a few threads but that's about it. I thought it would eventually be fixed but it doesn't seem to be a common issue. Only happens in the AOSP browser and I just clean flashed everything before posting. So it can't be because of the dirty flashes. Anyone have any idea what gives?

Well, they are called "Nightlies" for a reason...
Does it happen with other browsers? It might be the browser's fault.
Don't think its an issue with your ROM. Completely stock and the same happens to me watching any embedded videos.

Then it's the browser's fault.
Has anyone thought about turning his screen timeout hi like 10 mins

Browsers are certainly a personal preference. If you're dead set on using that particular one, then I would suggest something along the lines of using the Xposed Framework and the module App Settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377 You can use this to keep the Browser (or other apps) to not time out, but just the apps you select instead of just doing a generic leave the screen on for 10 minutes at a time. Or, if you use ART, or don't care to mess with Xposed, then something along these lines: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbondarchuk.android.keepscn&hl=en should work for what you want. Basically you can just set it to keep the screen on as long as you are looking at the phone (FFC) then it'll stay on - ala Samsung.
