Which of these tablets does XDA like & why? - General Questions and Answers

I can get a pretty good deal on the following 3 tablets through my union:
- Xoom w/wifi bundle (not sure on GB size)
- Galaxy 10.1 (16gb)
- Thrive (32gb)
I plan on rooting anyone that I may get, but want the opinions of the experienced XDA users and what they like/dont like about them.
I'm guessing most users on here with a tablet have them rooted, so hopefully you guys can help me make a choice.
I dont intend on using the tablet as a replacement for a laptop. Its going to be used more-so for sharing pics, videos, browsing, media stuff, etc, and connecting to the TV through the hdmi option.
Thanks guys..

[Q] Titan or Nexus

The hardware is pretty similar, both are locked down to either 16 or 32 gigs, which you can't add a SD card. The only real major difference will be the OS. So i'm which is going to be the one everyone buys.
The reason I'm asking, simply put I bought a DVP and there aren't enough of them for me people to start cracking into. So i'm going to go with the one that has the most user and support from this community.

[Q] Which US stores have these tablets for me to physically see and play around with?

I'll be travelling to the US for a holiday towards the end of December and I am hoping to pick up 2 tablets - a small one like the Kindle Fire / Nook Tablet for my other half and a bigger one like the Motorola Xoom 2 / Transformer Prime for myself, so I was just wondering if any US residents can tell me the names of any stores that would have these actually in store and that I can physically mess around with to get an idea of what I like? I know I can get the Nook at Barnes & Noble which isn't a problem, however if there was 1 or 2 stores that had all of them on display that would make things a lot easier than travelling to 4 different stores because they each only had one Tablet I was interested in.
1. I am aware that the Fire is cloud based - and US at that, however I'll root it most likely so its not an issue.
2. I know the Prime isn't out yet, but it should be by the time I arrive so if anybody knows stores that will stok it - great!
Thanks for any help!

[Q] Convince me as to why (or why shouldn't) I root my Kindle Fire.

Right, so I've owned a Kindle Fire ever since it came out- preordered it, even. It's a nice, fast little tablet that's great, but I'm looking to squeeze a little bit more functionality out of it. I've been contemplating rooting it for some time, for access to the Android Market (and possibly Cyanogen if I'm feeling a bit risky) along with a greater range of apps. However, I've heard arguments on both sides concerning rooting- which is why I come to you, the XDA forums, for advice.
Should I, or shouldn't I root my Kindle? What are the cons, besides the possibility of bricking? I've rooted plenty of devices for friends- Android SDK, SuperOneClick, etc., so I'm not too worried about that.
I've heard in a few articles that rooting prevents access to things like Amazon Prime Video, but I don't often go near that- though I'd still like to know if there are any more services that might be cordoned off to me.
Thanks in advance.

Google Apps

Against:
From what I read it breaks Amazon Prime Instant Video (there is a workaround)

[Q] Installing a different OS on ZTE Score

Is there a way to install Windows CE, mobile or phone on this phone? The phone is a ZTE Score (Cricket) and runs Android 2.3. I have another phone I use mostly and I do not care if I lose the ability to make phone calls. I just wanted the GPS and WiFi, I bought this for $29.99 and it would not be too much of a loss if I bricked it although I would prefer not to. I mostly want a plain Windows OS. Can someone help me out?

What droid for tethering data?

Basically i have a Samsung 10.1 Slate, it doesn't support 3G so my plan is to use a droid smart phone to grab data and tether it to my slate.
Given the above, cheapest yet most effective droid to pick? Must be cheap as possible! Need the quickest speeds i can get. Thanks
What country are you in? (Different devices on different providers offer different functionality.)
Sorry i'm in the United Kingdom.
The tablet is a galaxy tablet 10.1
I imagine tethering data through bluetooth would be the best option ?
Just need a phone that can process data quick, suggestions ?
Thanks
Really all of them can. Even an old WinMo phone can. Either it be built into the OS or an app like http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Rooted and installed that onto my gf's samsung tranform. A pos phone on boost mobile. She uses it for internet on her laptop.
