I actually went from having 1 problem to having 3 problems.I updated my phone yesterday and since then my incoming calls and interent has not been working. My phone is a Samsung Epic 4g that I flashed to Cricket. From the start I was never able to send or recieve mms.
I came accross this forum website and learned I could make some changes to my phone by getting my MSL.
This is what I see in my phone when i dialed ##3282#
Data Profile{my #@mycricket.com},Rev Tunneling On,HA SPI 1234,AAASPI 1234,
Device IP 0.0.0.0, PRIMARY HA IP 0.0.0.0,SECONDARY HA IP 0.0.0.0,DDTM OFF,
P_REV 0006,HOME ROAM ORIG.VOCODER is EVRC,HOME PAGE VOCODER is EVRC,
EVRC-B is ENABLED,SCM 111010,SLOTTED MODE is ENABLED,SLOTTED INDEX 0002,HOME NID 65535,HOME SID 5945,MCC 310,MNC 05,ACCOLC 0004,HOME SYS REG is ENABLED,FSID REG is ENABLED,FNID is ENABLED
Now in the "Others" menu it has my browser gateway I.P which is 068.028.031.001 ..Port is 80,Secure Port is 80 and MMSC is
http: //mms.mycricket.com/servlets/ mms
In the "Multimedia' menu it says
RTSP Proxy Address wap.mycricket.com
RTSP Proxy Port 8080
HTTP PD Proxy Address 0.0.0.0
HTTP Proxy Port 8080
In the DSS Server URL https: //dsa.spcsdns.net:433 /dsa/
DSS Proxy Server IP Address 0.0.0.0
Port number 0000
I just copied down everything I saw as I went through the different menus lol.
Now I can recieve calls but I cannot answer it some error comes up and says process com.android phone has stopped unexpectedly and I have to Force Close it.I can make out going calls though and sens and recieve sms but mms wont work it says gateway timeout please try again later.
Also since this is an original Sprint phone I keep getting registration errors everytime I turn my phone on and since I updated my android yesterday my 3G symbol at the top of my phone will not show up and internet and incoming calls wont work.Id like to get both working again and also see about fixing my mms problem. Thanks

Hello all,
I was wondering, in order to receive an MMS message, do I have to turn on GPRS communication, or is it automatically switched on upon receiving an MMS message?
It has to be configured on your device, GPRS and MMS that is, and it also has to be acivated by your network. I was trying to get my GPRS working and couldn't work out why it wasn't until I finally spoke to someone at O2 who had a vague idea of what they were doing and said new customers had to request activation of GPRS!
i get mms wihtout having turned grps on at the time
but when i open the msg then it connect to the network using grps
and get the mms pic, movie, sound or what ever
Ah, that clarifies!
Thanks for your replies!
With regards,
Thumper
a bit more clarification ... the MMS platform sends a special SMS to the phone (xda or other) ... if the phone is equiped for MMS the proper application (ex: MMS Composer or EZWAP 2.5) will start and it will connect through GPRS ... this requires also to have the device and the dial registered on the MMS platform .... otherwise a normal SMS will be displayed containing a URL to download the MMS from any web browser.
My GPRS connection works fine, I can browse the Internet with IE. But when I try to send a photo message (MMS), I get "Cannot connet". Does anyone know why?
if you put in the right
Server name
Gateway
and
server address
in mms composer
and you have made them turn on mms in their end (the cellphone company)
and some people need to make a new grps connections with another access point (often mms)
then i dont know
They sent me a text message that automatically entered the details in MMS composer for me (server name, server address and gateway). I found the new details there when I checked. Because I called them to activate the service (and so they sent me the text message), I'm assuming it's active from their end. I'm not aware of a different GPRS connection I should be using. There are already three connections set up: WAP CSD, WAP GPRS and Internet GPRS. Takker ellers for tilbagemelding.
OK i have a 750v from the UK and i use it with the Vodafone contract i got it with. I unlocked it so i can use it back home here in Cyprus when im here for the holidays etc but for some reason i cant get internet or MMS to work. I had found the settings off the Cytamobile-Vodafone (my phone provider, Cytamobile is owned by Vodafone now) website but they dont work.
So i called them (a few times) and they said they cant help me and the only thing they can do is send me a document with the settings written so that i can put them myself... I tried to several times but still nothing! The weird thing is that if i keep my Vodafone UK internet settings it works but i'm not sure if im going to be paying loads extra or not with those settings. MMS dont work either way.

This is the: "Basic settings for WAP over GPRS" that i was sent

And they also sent me these settings for MMS

Oh also when i change the APN from "cytamobile" which i was given, to the Vodafone UK APN which is "internet" but i keep the Cyta-Voda username and password, internet still works. Im really confused.
Can some knowledgeable expert help me figure this out? Thanks and sorry for the huge post!
Try to hard-reset first, make sure everything are clean up.
And then, repeat your setting at menu
1. Setting - Connections
2. Manage Existing Connection - Click "NEW" and follow step-by-step (dont forget chooce Mode as Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
3. done
I already did a hard reset a few times and entered the settings and all but still nothing...

I suspect there is a CAB around somewhere with all the settings, i just can't find it at the moment.
I've been plying with ROMs on my ATT Fuze for a while and feel pretty good about it. My future sister-in-law just got her husband a Touch Pro but they use ACS (Alaska Comunication Services). Now when I load a ROM on my phone and when I put my SIM in for the first time it asks to setup the carrier and ATT is the first on the list so I never have worried about this step. What if ACS is not on the very short list of carriers, what will in need to know when I select other, what is it going to ask me?
Thanks.
*bump*
I am also on a smaller carrier.... Einstein Wireless (aka Einstein PCS)... May carrier also isn;t on the list.. text messaging and calling works.. but not internet or picture messaging ... Any suggestions?

Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
Seriously guys? Just phone the carrier and ask for the settings - they'll either tell you, or send them as a network message (or both). The auto-config just makes life easier the the majority of people, its not essential.
I have bought a CDMA tp2 from the USA.. having flashed on a Juicy ROM, as Sprint ROM is useless for me.. I can send & reviece msgs but cant download the multimedia message.. the error msg:
"Unable to download message from [contact]""
Does anyone have an idea, of how to fix this pls.. there loads of threads on xda-dev but none for me particular situation.. thus necessitating the need for this thread...
come on guys.. help me if poss
You need to configure the data settings for your carrier.
SMS = comes over voice connection
MMS = notification comes over voice connection, body of message comes over data connection
If you don't have a data connection setup + the information for your carrier's MMS server entered you won't get MMS.
here are your settings that you need as also posted in your other thread...
http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html
Vodafone MMS settings
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
Authentication: Normal
Data bearer: GPRS

The other poster makes a good point....make sure that your data is working correctly....can you view a webpage, send an email, etc?
