SHADOWGUN: The Leftover released... as a free update! - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Seems a lot has been added as far as gameplay is concerned (new gameplay elements, new content... yada yada) but we all know what the big question is for us on this board.
DID THEY FIX THE GODDAMN ************* ASS AIMING?
...and I'm glad to say... YES! The aiming works EXACTLY like that of Dead Space. No joke, it's really that good now.
And with that, we can actually care about new **** like:
• This game now features rolling (Triangle... wish it could be mapped to Circle, but I'll learn to live with it)
• What seemed to be a 30FPS limit is now lifted for a much smoother experience
• If, for some reason you like that simulated analog, they've massively improved it so that's even usable too! (Damn, son!)
• Completely Re-Tuned Difficulty
• A whole new expansion pack with 4 new levels
• New Soundtrack
• Overall improved content
• New Enemy (I'm thinking this should be plural, but I'm going off Madfinger's list)
• New camera effects
Issues/Personal Qualms/Ideas for even further improvement:
• Touch-Screen users can customize controls, but not Xperia PLAY users?
• Reload should be mapped to Square (Currently, it is the L-Trigger)
• Start should open the menu (instead of Select)
• X should be confirm on menus (For some odd reason, it's the R-Trigger)
• Switch Weapon should be mapped to Triangle (Currently, it is Square)
• Option should be added for ironsight/scope aiming
------- Which would take over the L-Trigger
• Roll should be mapped to Circle, it'd just feel more natural.
• There should be a doubletime (sprint/run for those who don't care for jarhead jargon).
------- Which would happen when the roll button is held (like Shadow Guardian)
Any other college students up at the asscrack of morning? Better get it now before their servers begin to suffer extreme congestion! Hate for another "Sonic CD" to go down, and have you guys miss out on this epic update.

Does it have the promised multiplayer mode?

The controls are great now, hats off to the devs for sorting them out.

While I do also recall them talking about online multiplayer, I can't find it. Honestly, with all the updates made now, I'd definitely be able to deal with it if online comes in a future update.
I mean, they just brought a game from having such bad controls that it made Gameloft look good up to the standards of the same Dead Space that proved Xperia PLAY's touch-pads could be used realistically.

To OP, is left trigger reload or switch weapon? You've got it as both?

Whoa, fixed that. That's actually not what I have it set as, that was just ideas for mainstreaming the controls a bit.

Glad they were able to update them for the Play.
I must say, though, that the game's Xbox 360 controller support for my tablet is spot-on.
When multiplayer is live, it's on!

is this gameplay grom XP? On my Xperia I dont have that graphics quality, I mean water on the ground in first level etc.

Thats the Tegra 3 version. Quad Core!!

Picked this up and the aiming is perfect. Very impressive game.

The controls are SO much better now. I got the game nearly 3 months ago and never played it because of the controls but this update fixes the game and adds a roll. Love it

GTA 3 Controls - Can we get this sorted

Ok, so everyone knows its out.
In car
R is drive
L is break/reverse
Triangle is handbrake
O is get out of the car
Square is center camera
X is ?
On Foot
R is sprint
L is jumo
Triangle is ?
Square is center camera
X is shoot
O is enter car
Touchpads
Swipe left/right on left - change radio stations
Swipe left/right on right - change camera angle
What's to start the taxi/ambulance missions? What is it to do drive by's? how do you aim a gun? etc. etc.
Doybule tap the screen is for closgin the map
Also, we all know that HOLDING the screen looks behind you, but is there a better way for us to do this? Cause
A. It's akward
B. what's the point in having contols built into our phone if we have to touch the screen to get basic controls sorted

Should be like PS2/PSP.
You can also change weapons with the left touchpad.

I don't mind using the touch screen for certain tasks, but the control layout is awkward (it's never been a good point of Rockstar's, check GTA 2 for PSX and you'll be in for a surprise.
Pressing down on the keypad while in a car will sound the horn. Right touch pad can be used to switch weapons. What does up do?

before the controls get fixed don't u think rockstar need to sort out the terrible framerate on xperia play I'm well disapionted ,its a cracking game spend days and nights playing this in my youth but it seems bit more laggy than the original sort it out rockstar

I think they gonna fix everything when they officialy support Xperia Play, I am sure that it's going to happen becouse the controls are already working for it.
But right now it looks like game wasn't graphicly optimised for it at all, if you look at graphics, the randering is wrong and looks ugly, you can see pixels, there's random lag spikes, no shadows, there are no lights on vehicles, and drew distance is wrong, there's lag from raining, there are very small amout of cars in the streets.
Xperia Play can handle it I am sure, they just need to optimise it first.
So lets get on Rockstars nervs And when they are on it once they just can just give us GTA Chinatown Wars to (lets dream)

Triangle is to start aiming with the Sniper Rifle. Then the arrows are for aiming, X for shooting, L for zoom in, R for zoom out

How did you fair with the mission with the sniper rifle. It seems that I have had trouble using the analogs. I have to rub the analogs a hundred times to aim at someone, as opposed to press left rotate left.
Ill see if I can assign the buttons for other controls, be patient
what would be good if u cam map the buttons like the same as PS2

There's a one of the last missions in Portland and it's called "Bomb Da Base part I and II" first part is from Salvatore and second from 8-ball.
By the way I was aiming with the sniper rifle using original touch controls because the arrows were too sensitive. I passed the mission without any problems.
On the market the the SE XPlay is listed under Android Phones.

Minicraft - Xperia Play optimized

In market we can find Minicraft - Notch game made for contest (only 48h to make a game). Works great on Xperia Play - D-pad and X and Circle. I still don't know how to make save - but game is easy.

Quite a good time once you get the hang of it. I agree on the save part (of course what's the point of saving when you have one laugh). I think I heard somewhere that Minicraft 2 is being developed.

I'm curious what kind of game is this, since it's free, I'l give it a try..
Now i know how to make save. But there are a problems when You load - just check it for yourself. To make save You must first - tap a screen then press the menu button - now You get menu with saves, cheat and quit options.
Yes it will be Minicract 2. And Notch know that Minicraft was unofficial release on anxroid but he dont get angry just said "it's a free game"

Blazing Star - SNK PLAYMORE - OUT NOW!!!

Love this game, played it to death in the arcade when I was younger. Came out today. I have not played it yet so I cannot tell you if its Xperia PLAY optimized, but I am hoping that since the King of Fighters was optimized (sort of) this will be too.

We spotted this earlier great game. Have tested and everything works D-pad and Fire as well as all the menus. The onscreen controls also vanish when press a hardware button. Made by the same people who did R-Type port, Metal slug port and they always seam to remember the PLAY

Blazing Star is one of my favorite games ever! And it's easily the most fun sh'emup I've ever played. You have no idea how long I prayed PSP would get this game (and never did!). Now it's here with achievements?! Getting this immediately!

Since no one really responded with anything back then, I might as well just come back to tell all of you on the fence of getting this, that this game is very well optimized. Good, responsive hardware controls and full-screen resolution for the XP. Plus the soundtrack is awesome! Here's a gameplay vid:

Still would love a version of Exceed or Touhou, but it wouldnt work well with the portrait orientation. Touch screen shooters are too hard if you have fat fingers!!!!

Mame/Neo/Cps Emulators are great but where is the challange. I like and brought these official ports (metal slug too) for 2 reasons. 1) Bluetooth multiplayer 2) a limit on credits. Where is the challange if you can keep shoving fake credits in, it makes these games too easy because you have no real death. Its like cheating and there is no point in that when you are only cheating yourself out of a good game. With metal slug on Emulator i completed in a hour (fun over). On the official port not even half way in and been playing hours worth. At least with emulators like Snes and PSX you have limits as its built in to the game (Saves states are also bad but still mean you have to get past the place your stuck on dying). I am happy to recommend these ports over the emulated way
Original MVS cartridge are 'free play' at will anyway, but you are right about arcade, nothing can beat the 1coin challenge and bt coop option is the best.
My previous bought of metal slug for android was a disapointment, few option, gallery mode, slowness this one seems better optimized. I think save state is a bless to train yourself in the hardest level without crawling again the whole intro + much more freedom to simply save your progress.
My fingers thank autofire as well. I found vsFighters a bit more difficult compare to the arcade because of the controller, xplay paddle is tiny and snk special moves can be tricky.

Who said it won't be optimized for Play? You know, if Gameloft will change their minds and won't give game for 70% (more of 50% minimum) of Android users with devices with Adreno 205 inside, then who will buy it? Not everyone like SGS3 or have HTC One X. Guuuyss..... Be realists - it will be for Play users for sure - at least won't lag - do you remember Dungeon Defender? It has UE3 inside and what? Everything awesome on Play, and it was exclusive for some time....And if we get it - we get optimization too - Gameloft won't delete the best gaming Android device which Play is - which another device has touchpads like that? Just be patient and wait like me .
And about game - very good gameplay, nice graphics (not like super-uper UE3 graphic and incredible effect, but really good ), I have only hope they won't f*ck up engine, to avoid lags if we don't have iDevice....
Waiting for this title, reminds me some kind of Sacred Odyssey by Gameloft - if yes - I'm done .
Gameloft?! No, thank You... Another crap from this developers... Everything they touch, is going to be a crap with nice graphics (but there are also a games like Splinter Cell with awfull graphics).
I have a hope that someday they will make a game taking more time to get it better.

To it smells His Kingdom of Amalur for Android. Also I think as DikeJ, Gameloft always shows his games with the best graphs, for powerful devices as the S3, since for example on having taught It Nova 3, but only it is his face of sale. Then they are optimized for every terminus. I hope that it comes to Xperia Play!

How many times now have we assumed we'd get left behind now? And how many times has it actually happened? The consistent trend here is that no matter what level of benchmark the game aims towards... if it's not just flat out unsuited to play on anything but touch screens (Mass Effect: Infiltrator) chances are Xperia Play will get it, and it will run well. You'd think people would have stopped underestimating the Xperia Play after seeing it get it's hands on every benchmark game to date.
Should be for Xperia Play, whos gonna enjoy such games without physical buttons !!!
For touch screen Asphalt 7 is ok..

I hope Gameloft will continue the trend they did with The Dark Knight... having a SD-movable installer that didn't suck up a ton of space as "data" was nice.
Them thinking they need to suck up space off our phone is the major reason I don't play Order & Chaos, Six Guns, N.O.V.A. 3 and Modern Combat 3 as much as I'd like to.
...they'll never be as bad as Dvide Arts' punk ass though... they need to be beaten for having an additional data download go straight to the phone.
Calm down and relax guys....It's Gameloft so the game will be something like 2GB and hopefully Xperia Play optimized. Just chillout and wait with me . My only 3 asks are:
-optimize
-lag free, not only on New iPad (or iPad 3, call like you want) or iPhone 4S
-not so short and stupid adventure - something like Sacred Odyssey or Eternal Legacy or BackStab will be nice .

Short feedback
I like the font you used for the game. It gives you that space-ship themed interface. You could add more to the background though, like some nebulas or differently sized stars which some of them could twinkle to give it that dynamic effect.
However, I really like the movement of the ship, it kind of angles off when you turn it and the thrusters are really cool. In terms of graphics it looks kind of retro-style which is nice!
I think the 3D render of the asteroids are a good idea! But I think you should add more variation like maybe some subtle color variations.
The interface is nice but I think you should cramp the shield bar on the left just so everything is in one place when the user does a stat check. I don't know if it's just me but I think you should try making the control UI smaller or replace it with a joy-stick-themed UI (which can complement the space-ship themed interface) my thumb is tired :'(
Overall the gameplay is good and the sounds are decent. I'm still continuosly working on the game. I will take your suggestions into account in the upcoming updates. Especially the part with the more dynamic background and variatons of obstacles.
I changed some behaviors yesterday to make the game a little easier(Shielded collisions didn't reduce the speed). I will think of increasing the acceleration in extreme mode, to make it really extreme again
