Broke my screen and scratched housing. Where to get replacement?

Hello guys/gals,
So I had a crazy stupid night in nyc last night and I woke up to see my HTC inspire damaged in the following places:
- Screen glass is broken. Digitizer seems to be working just fine though
- Housing is scratched in several places. Namely front top left and right and the simcard/sdcard cover at the bottom.
Could anyone direct me to a good website where I can get the replacements for these parts?
Also, is there a good tutorial on how to do it myself?

Sounds like some party is your device insured? You may want to consider that route if it is.

Yeah from what I recall I had fun

Inspire 4G is no walk in the park when trying to take it apart. Its quite a challenge, but heres a vid showing the desire HD which is very similar to the Inspire 4G.
As for parts, try ebay.

I got the replacement screen from ebay but the rear housing is turning very complicated to find.
Its available at one store only and the min order size is 2.

Honestly by time you pay for the housing and screen and stuff you could send it to HTC and they replace everything cost me $145 and 4 days total, from my door back to my door
I've seen a few people try and fix theirs and end up messing the screen up or it falls out one of the two... I would just pay the money and have it done right with a 90 day warranty on it and you keep the full warranty on the phone also.

I agree with sending it to HTC to fix...otherwise, try CNN.CN
I used to pick up blackberry stuff from them. Nice prices (on BB stuff, atleast, never looked for our phones) and shipping is pretty decent.

I think i may purchase one of these. Two questions:
1) Does it make the phone too bulky?

nvm i figured it out but the only question is which Tmobile stores are carrying it? the LA area doesn't seem to have it so no luck for us.

Just pickedone up at the T-mobile store in NYC. I went in the store to take advantage of the 50% coupon and found this. Not bad for $30. Good luck!

I looked at the case in the store and no way! It is horrible. It makes the nice sleek phone into a tank. The case thickness basically doubles the phone. It is ridiculous in my book.
I just rather buy and extra battery and carry that with me instead. It is small easy to carry and when I needed it just put it in rather than adding that crazy about amount of bulk to the phone.

I just got home and opened the box and damn! This thing is HUGE! I'm going to return this because it's too thick. Such a shame...

I wish they had Evo3D batteries so I could buy one of them and get more battery juice Do they even carry batteries in stores?

Man it might look ugly, but it does what it is supposed to do. It's a battery built into a case, of course its going to add bulk. I love it and I keep it on my phone at all times. Instead of 11 hours of battery I get 23 before its dead now. 30 bucks for this is a steal, everyone at work wants one for there phone and a guy with an Evo 3d wants one bad lol.

Missing holes?
It looks like it's missing a bunch of the required holes in the back. The little holes on the back toward the bottom seem to be covered up, whereas the holes are poked through on the tpg cases and others. Will this affect performance?

The holes are not entirely covered up, they cut channels to the holes. as seen in the pic I took. Regardless, it still has possible effects.

white battery cover that is not gonna cost me 50 bucks?!

so i would really like to have my back cover replaced, mainly because i dropped it like skrillex... . anyhow, i would really like the black one with the red accents or a white one... but on ebay the prices are just soo much, a normal one is around 18 bucks, im ok with that but 30plus? i think is a little high, anyhow i just want to ask if anyone knows where is a good place with good prices to get either the white or black with red accents.
by the way im almost 100% sure they are all the same meaning the ones with red accents, beats audio is compatible with the tmo version and the other way around right?

OEM directly with HTC without beats I think is just as much if not more if you call in for a warranty exchange of the back door.

Well it's not just any back cover. It's "unibody" aluminum and it has our antennas in it

The only WHITE back cover I can find in the US is on an Ebay listing for $56 and says it's for the Sensation XE. Any idea if this will work for the USA TMO Sensation?
My cover has got some wear and scuffs too and I'm looking for a re-fresh. I found one Ebay listing that used to sell them for $29, then bumped it up to $39, then bumped it up to $49 and finally, bumped it up to $249!! He's sold one at $249.

Not so sure about that because Non-TMO Sensations (and XE's by extension) only has 3 antenna contacts vs 4 contacts on the TMO version. It might work but they included 4 contacts there for a reason so your mileage will definitely vary.

There's a thread that already discusses this, but in short, I use it with the 3 contacts and everything works. I am on tmous in Texas.
No one knows why the 4th antennae is. I just know it works with the three provided.

Some people have speculated that that they flipped the contacts and for antenna diversity purposes.

But then why you can get a normal one for maybe 17 bucks? But the white one is a lot of money and the beats one is 30 plus... I really don't see the why on the prices differences, I'm sure the cost to put some red accents or white plastic is not that much to justify it.

It's more expensive because that's what people want to buy. Not as many people are looking for a stock replacement back cover... supply and demand buddy.

I need to replace mine soon, but would like to know I'd the power button is included with a new back cover?
My Sensation had one to many falls and now is very hard to switch on and off. I hope that a new back cover and power button will fix this.

To be sure it's not your cover, take it off and press the power button without the cover. Be sure it's not the cover! Otherwise you'll just blow some cash for something you didn't really need! and yes, the power button is included as well as the volume

Just a bit of info, not every country that HTC in just sends a new back door.I'm arguing the toss with HTC UK because i need new volume buttons.They want me to send the whole device for repair as "they need to check serial numbers for warranty"

Best place to find a refurbished or good used Inspire?

Unfortunately, my phone has mysteriously gone missing. It would appear that it fell out of my pocket at some point (though it is inexplicable how it could do so), which really sucks because I had just gotten it set up perfectly with the new Ascension ROM from the Collective and was loving it.
Anyways, I'm in the market for a low-cost replacement, and would be happy with a used or refurbished phone in good condition. Anyone have any recommendations re: the best place to find that? I've looked on Amazon, etc., just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this that might help ensure I get the best deal possible without compromising on quality.

Craigslist or eBay are good alternatives but buyer beware. I think each of them requires some skill so if you have never purchased using them then maybe just ask around.
Did you try a Google shopping search?

If the repair costs more than $75 (and that includes having an "expert" do the grunt work) I'd look at grabbing another phone. I picked up my Inspire from Cowboom for $130...refurb and it didn't come with a charger but other than that has worked great.

Not my personal experience but remembered reading it. I replaced one from eBay couple weeks ago for $173 but I also sold the (busted to hell and back) old one on eBay for 78 bucks so ppl are still buying broke ones. For the gold I guess.

Thanks for the advice - my friend found the phone outside of his house, in some bushes, and it had been rained on for three days. I think there's a good chance it will be okay, but I'm going to leave it to sit and dry for a few days (case off, battery out "doors" off) before I try to fire it up.

place it in uncooked rice it will suck out the moisture. Don't let rice in battery compartment. Keep bat and sim cover on.

Another TIP
Get the androidlost app on the market. It's saved my a$$ on more than one occasion last week. Now, if I lose my phone and don't have a sense rom...I can look it up on the androidlost.com website for free and find it!

The lookout app also has a program with tracking your phone though it may decrease battery life

I got my att Inspire 4g from craigslist for $80. It is unlocked and has a clean esn, just a cracked digitizer on the bottom of the screen. I'm hoping its a pretty easy fix, just scared of where to buy a legit replacement for this beast. But it works so amazing regardless now only if I can find a good service provider for this.

Does the MyTouch 4G battery fit our 4G Slide rear? I need to replace the battery on my Slide WITHOUT ordering it and on Craigslist I cant seem to find one for a 4G Slide. HTC Sensation is also out of question as there are none. I am also aware of the capacity difference, which isn't much of a concern.

Don't think so. The Sensation battery replacement never mentioned the MT4G (Glacier), where it did for the MT4GS (Doubleshot).
What's wrong with ordering? If it's all about the waiting game, I understand. It took me about two weeks to get mine.
Anyway, if you want to broaden your search, can keep your eyes out for HTC Sensation / Z710E / Sensation XE / Z715E
/ HTC EVO 3D / HTC Shooter battery.

Ive seen some very cheap ones on Amazon and ebay (as low as $7) but its the headache of requiring a credit card/PayPal, etc. in order to order things. If that were the case, I'd have my first LG Optimus G's digitizer fixed myself in no time.
This MyTouch on the other hand, well it was my brother's old phone and after the battery began to inflate, it was handed to me since I'm like the "Android/technology freak" of the family. He can easily order it for me, but after ordering some specific accessories for his S4 which NEVER arrived, he does not trust ordering online.

It's supposed to. The Sensation battery can fit the EVO 3D. May not necessarily mean the EVO 3D battery will fit the Sensation, or by extension the MT4GS, but it's worth a shot.

Now that you mentioned it i saw a battery on ebay that said it was for the Evo 3D and MyTouch 4G Slide. Sad thing is that just a few days ago there was one listed for parts because the LCD/Digitizer was totaled and I checked and its gone :/
Lol wouldn't be much fun to ruin another cool phone from working by stealing the battery from it.

Quick thing with Amazon. Go to a CVS or similar pharmacy and pick up a Amazon gift card for as low as $25.00 in cash and go to your Amazon account and apply the gift card. I did it to buy my own 4G Slide today! You can order anything on amazon without a credit card if you know how. I use Amazon for everything now, bought a reliable LG Phoenix, too! Using it while I'm waiting for the MT4GS to arrive. Amazon is WAY more trusted than Craigslist or Ebay.

I did something similar... I took the battery from a Samsung Galaxy Centura and hard-wired it to the terminals of my LG Phoenix so it's pretty much...Two batteries back to back!
Except it didn't do much to improve the battery life and I had it all together with duct tape. How is the extended battery, though? Is it worth it? I'm getting my Christmas bonus in January so I'm looking at some extra money. I mean, I picked up my MT4GS for $43 on Amazon... Should I get something different?

If having online credit cards or PayPal is the problem, I concur with the idea of using an Amazon gift card. I've found Anker's 1900mAh battery quite satisfactory.
