BBC official app received an update to version 1.3 today, enabling support for tablets and Android 4.0. Sadly this free app is available only for UK users. Someone in UK please post the apk file for v1.3.

I'm in the US and can download version 1.3 on my phone but not tablet. When i side loaded onto the TF it's not optimized for tablet. Does not work in landscape only portrait.

the android markets multiple apk support limits phones to their apps.

I see, thanks. App is great BTW for tablet.

Very cool. So this works well? I'm surprised they don't also filter app connections by IP like their streaming website content sometimes does.

Like the layout..
They have taken the dual browser idea that one step further..

I downloaded this and installed it. I like the layout. And it has lots of good articles, and some have videos that download and play in your movie apps (yay dice).
Thanks for posting!

cant download from the market; could someone upload the .apk file please? thanks.

i did just look up ^

I found it; thanks.
I also highly recommend News360 optimized for tablets here:
https://market.android.com/details?...SwyLDEsImNvbS5uZXdzMzYwLm5ld3MzNjB0YWJsZXQiXQ..

I tried v1.3 of the mobile phone version as well as v1.0 of the tablet version on my Toshiba Thrive 7" tablet (1280 x 800 display).
I like the tablet format of the latter but find that is has many fewer news categories than that of the phone version. That's kind of odd. I find that I end up using the phone version on my tablet the most in order to get the additional news categories.
Is there a newer version of the tablet apk that offers the same set of news categories as can be found with v1.3 of the phone apk?

I still have my evo 4G for dev'in and the app does run a bit slower then on the 3D but it still works very well. Ive tested it on CM7, MIUI, Kings, Synergy, Salvage, Calkulins, and 1 or 2 others with no problems. So that why I went ahead and posted it this section.
The newer version has the same functionality as the posted one but it may preform worse on the 4G because it was designed for dual core phones. We'll find out some enough as I will post it as soon as its available.
this works good!

Yeah, it would be great to have some more details about that
very useful one thanks a lot:good::laugh:
good one
and yeh, congrats, you are on xda homepage
Was there a particular reason to make this an Android app, instead of desktop? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love that you've made this -- I really need an app like this -- but it just seems like an unnecessary hurdle to transfer images to a device to resize, then back to the desktop. I could be overlooking something though.
Seems like the kind of app a developer and/or designer might want to have on his Desktop, doubt anyone would want to resize images on an Android device itself.
looks nice
If people want to make changes will you open source it?
I'd like to change a few things

Would be awesome if you could give the ability to do multiple devices in one image, like in this post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35164992
Works well otherwise though very smooth and the holo ui is absolutely perfect .

Any chance of adding motorola RAZR I?
Only thing that's missing is an Xperia device since Sony Ericsson uses 480x854 screens.
Sadly my device, the SII (I9100) is not supported. But I'm keeping your app installed, though, awaiting a future add in of my phone
Very nice work.
Just tried on the Note 2 and it didn't work...Are you still supporting this app? It's a great idea and very useful!!
Is there anything available for the Razr HD?
I looked at the Google Play link for your app a few days ago when I was looking for something like this.
Do you plan to support the Galaxy S3? That's what I have.
There is a free app on Google Play called Phoneshot Free that does device-frame screenshots, and it supports the Galaxy S3 (as well as the S2, since someone asked earlier), but it only does straight-on shots like the last couple posted, not a tilt shot like in the first reply. It's a good app. I haven't tried Device Frame Generator, only because the latest Google Play version doesn't support my particular phone... If it did, I would give it a shot.
What would be really cool would be the ability to add a custom phone. You scan your phone or find a large promo image of it (or somebody else's screenshot-in-frame picture), cut the top off, then the sides, then the bottom, and you save them all and the app uses them to form the complete picture, since, AFAIK, that's pretty much what it does with the phones it does support. Or maybe the phone frame is a complete picture and it's done with layers. I don't know Photoshop at all. Anyway, if I could do a custom phone, I'd add mine -- it has a case on it, so it's got this black border. Looks different from the regular one, just a little.

Thank you. Share your feedback on the app.
Good idea, begs to apply the material desing.
Yes material design the UI is a bit poor however compare is not working good
Samsung S5 G900H
Will try to apply material design to improve the UI of the app. Hmm, I have used default compare page provided by GSMArena, it is same there. Will try to carve something out better...

Bro, I can make this app. However, I am little concerned now, whether this is any issue w.r.t. google play policy.

Lite Movie Database: IMDB or Wikipedia lite and offline

Hi there!! I am currently studying software engineering and as a grad thesis I have developed an android application to browse a movie, series and actors/directors database. You may think, what´s the difference with IMDB or Wikipedia?? Well, this app has two big differences: it´s lite and it has offline functionality.
It´s lite because it only brings the absolutely needed information everytime you search something. For every movie, series or person you search it only downloads about 20kb or 30kb plus its image, which can be disabled or limited to wifi.
It´s offline because not only saves the articles that you have searched but it also synchronize with a server and authomatically downloads articles searched by other users. This way, you can access them offline later. This sync also doesn´t spend network data as it can be configured only for wifi use or it can be disabled.
For those interested, I tell you how it works. The info is taken from a Google´s Freebase API and, as it looks for articles it creates documents for a local NoSQL CouchDB database that syncs with a server. It´s a very shallow explanation but I don´t want to bore everybody. However, I will gladly explain it in a more detailed way to anyone who wants.
I attach some pics and and you can look for this in the play store ( i cand post links ) :
Lite Movie Database
To sum it up, thanks to everybody that read up to here. I hope some of you are interested in the app, and those who don´t, if you just wanna download it and use it a bit , would be really helpful .
Thank you!!!!!
