Moving files within skydrive - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just bought an HTC Radar and I love it! So much faster and smoother than my previous android. However, there are a few things which I don't know how to do.
-How do I move files from the root directory of skydrive into a folder? I can move files from within a folder to another folder; I can move an entire folder to another folder, but I can't move files from the root directory. I can't figure out how to do this even when online with my computer.
-Under x-box live, it opens up to "Collection" whereupon it displays three games, Angry Birds Fruit Ninja and Doodle God. Is this somehow different from "spotlight?" I don't own any of those games.
-Is there a native ability to rotate images taken with the camera or do I have to install an app?
Minor questions I suppose. This phone is great.

Good question. I was dissappointed the skydrive app could not move them. Probably the best thing right now is to log onto skydrive via a pc and move them.
The games i think are just so you can try them out. They are the one's i think that are listed as top xbox live. i rely more on the marketplace then from within the games hub.
for the 3rd, i don't think i've ever taken a picture upside down till about 3 days ago and it was a video lol. was outside with my dog in the snow and didn't realize i had flipped the phone when i was picking up snowballs. I think you would need an app for it. Look at thumba photo editor. It will integrate under "apps" when you hit the ... by the picture it can resize, rotate, crop, flip and more + adjust and apply about 25 filters. Well worth the price.

Logging onto Skydrive via PC lets me move some files but not all of them. Strange. I just looked at two word files...I could move one of them from the root directory but not the other. There are three OneNote book files there that I can't move either.
Thanks for the tip about the photo editor; I'll have to try it later.

Nub question - Opening file in subfolder

Hi guys, hopefully a stupid noob question that I can't seem to figure out.
I'm a bit of an organizational freak (as I'm sure many of you are), and like having sub-folders within main folders.
For example, I have some e-books on my Fuze and like having sub-folders with the author name.
So, folder structure looks like
\Storage_Card\ebooks\Edgar_Allen_Poe\...
When I go to open an ebook in MobiPocket, I cannot see that sub-folder (only the main path to ebooks).
The same issue plagues me with other programs, such as PocketNester...I'm assuming it has something to do with the Windows Mobile method of scanning directories in the file open dialog.
Anybody else have this problem?
I have noticed this in other apps, but never used mobipocket, so I think it's the behavior of the WinMo file manager as well. Maybe you need to put your directories on the root of the storage card. Have you tried shortcuts? Doubt it will work and it would probably drive you nuts that your shortcuts arent neatly organized in subfolders...
I don't think you can use sub-folders with mobipocket (or ereader). If you want things organized, then I would do something like put #'s or letters at the start of each author's books to keep them organized together (1-xxx, 1-yyy for the 1st author, 2-aaa, 2-bbb for the second, where the xxx's are the book names).
I find the file explorer in some apps pretty annoying, too. Like in pocket rar, you can create an archive for things like cab files. If you want to add to the archive, then it has to be on the storage card and in the root of any of the main folders on the storage card. That is annoying as crap. There are other situations where you can save a file in either main memory or storage memory, and you'll only have access to root folders, or sometimes in the main memory only to the folders in \my documents. It's like the person who designed this crap was auditioning for a job with apple to work on iphone development. I wish I knew a work-around (other than cutting-and-pasting after saving things), but I don't.

[REQ] Windows Live Photo Share Integration into HTC Album

I have recently lost a lot of photo's when my Mac at work decided to kill my 16gb Micro SD card.
I have since installed Photoshop Beta which is currently uploading every photo I take to a private folder on the net. Which works great, but there is no easy way of moving those images to another location like windows live without saving them all down individually.
I'd like all my pics to be stored on windows live as you get much more free storage but It will only let you share one photo at a time which is slightly annoying.
HTC Album on the other hand will let you select multiple images and batch upload them to facebook. Just not to windows live.
Is it possible to integrate windows live into the album? Auto upload would be amazing but a batch select upload would be spot on.
Anyone looking for a challenge??
No Idea's?

Gallery app that can nest folders/Subfolders

OK, so I have a LOT of pictures on my phone. I am also in a band and a lot of them are from each show. I hate having so many folders for all my pix in the Gallery though.
What I would like, is to be able to set like a root folder that contains the subfolder.
(E.G.) Right now is it like...
Bands name 3.23.09
Bands name 4.20.10
Bands name 5.15.10
etc
I would just like to see "Bands name" and when I click on that see all the "Nested subfolders" like....3.23.09, 4.20.10, 5.15.10, etc.
If there is a work around to make the default gallery do this, it would make my day. If not any app recommendations that resemble the default gallery but do what I am looking for?
Thanks in Advance.
I'm looking for the same exact thing.
Anyone had any luck finding something like this?
Have you tried Quickpic? I'm not sure if it does exactly what you need but it's a hundred times better than 'Gallery'!
i am searching for SAME thing.
want a program that can
1. let me make multiple PLAYLISTS of photo's !!!!!
this CANNOT be that difficule.
2. allow selection of MAIN folder, and allow random playing/viewing , as slideshow, of ALL CONTAINED photo's, no matter which subfolder !
my mom is 83 years old, dad is 93. we bought them an android to do photo shows. Picture frames are useless; they can't comprehend concept of truly random.
Quickpic is very GOOD at showing a default slideshow (either ordered or random) of the SUBFOLDER you select, but it will NOT allow playing of all slides in the PARENT folder (recursing to subfolders).
I want to make slideshow LISTS, for my mom, so she can select various ones
similar to ipod, add all your music, then make playlists, play groups of what you want, IN ORDER, OR random (shuffle), your pick
any feedback appreciated.
Have looked at most of the other photo players in android, same story ; even apple players don't do the best
thanks

SketchBook/Gallery File Location Confusion

Last night, I was looking through my Gallery and saw a few things I'd drawn in SketchBook Pro. Not everything I'd drawn in SK was there, but some were. I figured they were copies or thumbnails or something and, because I like to keep my file systems clean, I deleted them from the Gallery.
Well, turns out they weren't copies or thumbnails, but MY DRAWINGS! Ugh!
So my question is, is there anything comparable to a recycle bin on this thing, where my drawings might still exist? A second question is, does the Gallery just gather all the image-type files and display them, no matter where they are?
Thanks in advance!

Gallery does display all images on your tablet unless they are in a hidden folder. If you have images you do not want to be seen in Gallery you can rename the folder they are in by placing a . in front of the folder name. This will make Gallery see the folder as hidden and not access it. However this may also cause some other problems. Example I have a bunch of epub books with cover images with them and I did not want to have all those images showing in Gallery (there are a lot of them) so I made the folder hidden and it worked for Gallery, but I read the books in Cool Reader and all the sudden Cool Reader could not find the books either. I worked around this by creating special folder for my book I am currently reading.
create a .nomedia file and place it in the folder. it'll keep some apps from scanning the folders.

Hello everyone,
Sorry for the wall of text, long time lurker, first time posting at XDA here, hope to find a solution after days of trying on my own... I am HEARTBROKEN by vscocam on Android... :crying:
I've been using VSCOCam for 80% of my photos on my Nexus5 for the last year and half, I've taken thousands of photos and I want to back them up. The app works as follows:
Take photo using app > photo stored in internal app library > edit photo > export to android photo library (VSCOcam folder)
The VSCOCam folder is located inside /sdcard/DCIM/, but it only stores the exported/edited photos that you chose to export from the app. I cannot for the life of me find the "internal library" folder for the photos, I looked and looked and had no luck finding where the photos or any hints of the app dir itself... only the exported photos. When I looked around online apparently the iOS version has a backup feature for the internal app library when connected to iTunes, Android version ONLY has the "export" button within the app to act as a backup feature. Well that's not going to work because:
1. No select all (ctrl/cmd + A)function. I will not spend hours check marking and scrolling through thousands of thumbnails individually... makes me shudder thinking about it.
2. I will essentially be saving my photos twice or more on the phone, VSCOcam doesn't overwrite existing or even ask, it creates duplicates next to eachother.
3. Exported photos from the app loses all metadata... this one I could afford to lose but it'd be nice to have a date it was taken and not date it was exported.
In my desperation I even chatted with the costumer service staff of the company, no luck, no solution. Only export button. Apparently my cases is very isolated as I can't find anyone with the same problem as I do.... maybe I'm not that bright. :silly:
Even with my limited IT skills, I firmly believe There has to be a folder that stores all the jpg as they're taken by the camera. Instagram does it and so does almost every photo apps out there. I just need to locate that dir... Am I looking in the wrong places? Do I need to root? Please give me some advice on this!!
TL;DR - VSCOCam app is holding thousands of my photos, I can't find the directory that they're stored in. VSCO is telling me "there is no internal app folder." and tell me to spend hours exporting each one manually. I don't want to hate VSCOCam, it rocks, but this is breaking my heart!!!

Oh wow thank you for this!!! I knew it!! :good:
I will try and root my phone tonight. I'll be following this guide.
So I guess after I root, I'm able to view the folders that were previously restricted using Android File Transfer?

i dont use android file transfer but you should be able to use es file explore to copy the photos to another folder that android file transfer can see
I'm rooted on android 5.1 and in ES File Explorer, cannot see com.vsco.cam in /data/data
I've searched for vsco, case insensitive, in root /
And only found the export directory!
Have they changed their storage? In effect, I can't even find the app!!
Bump!
I'm having the same problem. I really need to free up some space on my device, so I want to pull all my photos but I can't find them anywhere. LG Optimus 4X HD (P-880) with root access. I've checked the locations mentioned above, but with no luck. Any help would be awesome!
Up! I have the same problem than Falcon. I want to free some space but can't find the photos anywhere!
Bumping because I'd also like to extract photos that I've taken with VSCO. Although my problem is a little different, VSCO just crashes every time I try to open it and it only started happening the day after I started taking photos with it. The customer service couldn't help much except tell me that CM is an unofficial Android release and their app isn't optimized for it
OnePlus One
Android 6.0.1
CM13.0-20160419-SNAPSHOT-ZNH0EAO2O0-bacon
Has anybody found a descent solution for this problem?
Vsco is a great for the filters but the android-app is horrible. Why can't we just export the original photo's or at least locate them on our device.
