Make sure that the back door (SD card and sim) is ok. Many times when the back door is pulled the phone won't recognize the sim card.

it seems intact, the sd card slot works fine. and my sim card works on my other tmobile phone. also another issue, my device is always running on safemode, i have tried installing other roms and also reverted back to stock but it is constantly running on safe mode. is there a way i could revert back to complete factory origninal settings and start a new clean root process?

Try using Gene Pole's method to return to stock...

See if that is working. The other way is using the Hack Kit to revert to Stock and S-ON...then you can start from scratch...

[Q] Issue with sim card after using GTG's_Ultimate_Unbrick

I went back to original stock rom because one of my co workers wanted to buy my Infuse to give to his wife. He did not want it to be rooted or have anything on it. I followed the directions in GTG's_Ultimate_Unbrick thread and it worked perfectly. Everything was completely stock like I just opened the box except for one thing...the sim card is not recognized. It says " NO SIM CARD IN PHONE AFTER YOU INSERT THE CARD, PLEASE REBOOT. EMERGENCY CALLS CAN BE USED."
I work for ATT so I know its not because the sim card is bad (I think I tried five new ones today trying to get it to work) plus I used working sim cards from working devices but it still says the same thing.
I tried running through GTG's_Ultimate_Unbrick again but to no prevail. Has any one encountered this or can any one please point me in the right direction on how to fix this issue?
Thank you in advance!!!

Did you wipe data/factory reset after unbricking?
If not, try that.
Today around 4:00pm I just had the same problem; however, the problem didn't arise when I used GTG's Ultimate Unbrick... The problem arose when I tried sending an MMS, I sent the first one, it worked, then I had to resend the same MMS to another person, it never sent it, so I tried restarting my phone, and that's when it popped up as "Sim Card Not Found" Ugh!!.. I just tried Flashing it back to stock using Odin GTG's Ultimate Unbrick. I was hoping it was just an ICS random bug, or maybe a just a ROM specific bug. So any help at all would be awesome.

No service after firmware update

So I updated my firmware (I was already superCID'd) and then when I loaded a new ROM I had no service. I have tried many different ROMs, radios and the such but have had no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I had issues on mine as well, after reflashing it seemed to behave much better. I had a good download verified by md5, the first flash was successful by every indication, but my signal was non-existent or crap at best. After the reflash it just started working better. Give it a try!
Edit: To clarify, I mean to reflash the firmware, not the ROM. I had deleted the P58IMG file from my SD so I had recopy it over to reboot into bootloader to flash it.

I tried that but it did not work, I dont think it even recognizes that I am on T-Mo because in the settings it says that there are no network operators and all of the network settings are blank.
Have you done a factory reset? I had the APN settings grayed out after flashing a rom. I had to simply go and perform a factory reset and start from scratch. DO NOT ERASE YOUR SD CARD. And make sure you have a rom to flash after you reset your phone.

I tried that but it didnt change anything. I am starting to think it might be something with the SIM card or the phone reading the SIM card because in the settings it says "Please insert SIM" and Wi-Fi calling says "Reading SIM" the whole time.

Do you have another SIM to try? The TMo stores usually are helpful with stuff like that.
Still though, this sounds awfully familiar. I do remember reading something similar about the SIM not being recognized a couple weeks ago when the ICS ROMS first came out but can't remember what threads. Do some forum searches on missing SIM, SIM not recognized, stuff like that and see if anything looks helpful.
Edit: Can't seem to find it now. The only other things I can think of to try is to power off, remove the SIM, power up, let it boot completely, then power off, replace the SIM, and power back up. If that doesn't work, I would try flashing an appropriate RUU from here. Be careful to pick the right RUU for your area and carrier. To flash the RUU, just connect the USB plug from your PC to the phone and doubleclick the RUU exe file to start. It should find the phone and do everything necessary, firmware, radio, partitions, etc. and put you back on a stock ROM. You can flash CWM or 4EXT recovery and then whatever ROM you want.
The one I remember reading about, the guy replaced the Sim card and it fixed his no service issue.

Yes I remember replying to that thread as well. That guy bought that phone on craigslist or something and used his old sim, not the sim that comes with the phone itself.
Go to a tmo store/kiosk at the mall and ask to test out a different sim for the phone and see if that works.

[Q] Sim won't recognized :(

Hi Guys,
I just bought an infuse last night off from craigslist. I checked the phone thoroughly before I bought it and everything is working fine. When I get back home, the phone signal keeps dropping on and off so I thought the sim card might be loose. So I took it out and reinsert the sim card. Boot back up and the phone won't recognized the sim anymore. Keep seeing please insert sim even though the sim card is in there and worked fine earlier. I reset it to factory default but no luck. I put the sim in different phone and it's working fine. I tried with different sim card from my friend's phone who has galaxy s 2. The phone detected the sim but no signal at all. I reboot, factory reset but no luck at all.
The phone has CM7 rom and when it was working, it was great. Is there any way I can fix it? I checked the phone on samsung warranty info and it's only 3 months old, so still under warranty. I don't know they will honor warranty though since I bought it off from craigslist. Is there anyway I can fix it? Please help me. Thanks a lot.
Reset to stock and see if that helps. Try using some other working sim and check if the problem persists.
I have already factory reset it. Tried with 2 different sims. One sim recognize but no signal. Should I flash back to stock rom and try?

I would flash back to stock via Odin or heimdall and see if the problem is resolved....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I just flashed back to stock with heimdall. I will test out and report back. Thanks.
edit. Doesn't work even after flashing back to stock rom. Sending it out to Samsung for warranty repair. Thanks.

Well, something happened. But as soon as I put back the SIM card it bootloops again . Could it be a hardware issue ?
Any ideas?
The SIM works fine in her old HTC Desire.

Update:
Ok. So I decided to unlock the bootloader. Throw on a CWM recovery and so I was able to boot into recovery - yay!. I then saw that the /cache /data and /system partition were unmountable so I wiped the whole god damn thing and installed a new custom ROM. Voila! The phone booted! I installed alle the crap that was on before which was quite a bit and then I finally inserted the SIM (while phone was turned off). When it started it prompted for the SIM pin and while I was typing the pin it rebooted. Now - for heavens sake - it won't see the SIM card any more - or any SIM card for that matter. It just says: No SIM inserted. I have tried to re-flash the radio to see if that failed. I also ran the eMMC brick app and it doesn't have the fauly eMMC chip.
Any ideas - I'm out of ideas, guys.

Galaxy S3 - need help with custom rom - can't boot

Hi all
I hope that I am posting in the correct place
I need help with my Galaxy S3 SGH-T999
Recently the phone died on me, it was stock rom and with the updates through some of the apps, the phone stopped working correctly. I don't use the phone for making calls, etc, but need it for pictures and a few other apps. The phone is from T-mobile.
I tried to reset the phone and that worked until all the updates were back on and then back to the same problem.
So I decided to put on a custom rom on the phone.
I have tried the following roms:
cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-d2tmo
I9300XXUGNB6_I9300OJVGNB3_I9300XXUGNA8_HOME
RevolutionaryS5-V3
Slim-d2tmo-6.0.1.alpha.0.1-UNOFFICIAL-20160516-1346
I first installed CWM recovery and then transferred the roms over to the external sd car (also the internal card), went to boot manager (vol up) and installed the files.
It looked like the installation worked but when selecting reboot, the phone would not come back on.
I then loaded up Kies and reset the phone back to factory defaults and only then does the phone load back up after reboot.
Every time I try the custom rom - I run into the same problem
At first I thought the phone was bricked and found info about the jtag and then found something about using an SD card with the following image installed on it - tmobile-T999_4.3_debrick
With the SD card in the phone I can boot to either menus and also able to get the phone to boot to the slim-d2tmo rom. But when I pull the SD card, the phone won't boot. Nothing, no power, nada
I am not sure what I did wrong, followed the direction on the site and thought I did it correctly.
Not sure if I deleted some file, or partition needed or what. I would greatly appreciate some help with this.
Also I would like a custom rom that is stable and fast. I don't need all the bells and whistles but one thing I would like and that is for the camera to be able to take pictures using voice. I know the stock rom allows for this. Not essential but preferred.
Please help with detailed instructions.
Thanks in advance.
After writing this I just loaded up T999UVUEMJC_T999TMBEMJC_T999UVUEMJC_HOME.tar and managed to get the phone back up and running. Then tried the cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-d2tmo - which I kinda like but it will not boot up without the SD card in. I can manage to get the phone booted with the SD card and get into the new custom rom, but I have to keep pulling the battery, insert the SD card and then try to boot. Don't think it should work like this
Please help.

You did the right thing with the SD card, the issue with it not booting with SD card removed is not an issue, that's the way its supposed to work. After restoring boot with the SD card you've got to do a few other steps to correct the device so that it boots without SD card and then you've got to return the SD card to normal function to use it as storage again.
There's a thread in the Verizon Galaxy S3 I535 forum for unbricking with the SD card and the further instructions to restore full functional boot without SD card.

I appreciate the help. This should work on my phone even thought it is a T-Mobile and it is a SGH-T999 ?
Any chance you know of the link to fix the booting issue?
I really need to get this sorted out. I am about to trash the phone and get some cheap $80 best buy special just to use the apps I need.

The method is the same, you just use your debrick.img for your device instead of the Verizon debrick.img.

So I feel like such a dufus.
I think I know what I did wrong. After going back and forth reading everything, which all looked like what I had originally, I realized that everyone was talking about loading the zip files from the sd card. Thought I did this, but what I was doing was loading them from the external SD card.
So after having put the stock rom back on the phone (and basically gave up) I decided this morning to try one last time.
I downloaded:
OCT-N-WEEKLY-20170127-2232-d2tmo
open_gapps-arm-7.1-micro
Connected the S3 to my PC and copied both files to the phone. Did not have the external SD card plugged in.
Then went to boot menu (vol up) and cleared the cache, davik and data. Installed from zip (local phone this time) and within 10 minutes (or less) the phone was up and running without any issues.
BAM - awesome.
Seemed too good to be true but worked like a charm.
I wonder if that was the problem with any of the other roms I tried?
Anyway, thanks to all for your help.

I don't know what you were having issues with but I've always flashed my ROMs from extsdcard. Unless I'm missing your meaning.

Then maybe it were the roms I was using. All the roms I tried would not boot my phone after installation. I had to add the following file to my external SD card -tmobile-t999_debrick
This was the only way I could get the phone to boot back up after I installed the roms.
Or maybe I was using the wrong roms - I have no idea.
I guess my thought process was not correct and that you don't have to put the roms on the internals storage and can use the external sd card to install the roms?

Typically, you install custom recovery then root then place new ROM on extsdcard then flash the ROM in recovery from extsdcard. Its actually recommended to keep your ROM zips on external if you have it instead of internal because if internal gets wiped or corrupted then you've lost your ROM zip. It's also recommended to create and store your nandroid backups on extsdcard.
