[ROM][EL30][MTD] Stock MTD+Root+Deodexed - Epic 4G Android Development

This is just in case anyone wants a totally Stock EL30 on MTD, or if you are already on MTD and would like to see what's new but don't want to ODIN back. This is identical to the Stock+Root+Deodexed ROM I posted yesterday, except for including ShadowKernel-EL30-MTD-v3.0. Sorry, but I didn't feel like compiling a Stock MTD kernel (but I did need to test mine ).
- Auto converts you to MTD/yaffs2 if you are not already there.
- Does not wipe data if flashing from an MTD ROM.
- If you flashed before updating your modem, see this thread to avoid having to ODIN back.
EL30-MTD-Stock-Root-Deodexed.zip

yess thanks going to test it out in the morning thanks man.

Flashed everything including the modem and the only problem I see is the ctr screen off flashes green just before locking the screen. I tried wiping data dalvick and all that and still no fix

You need to mount /system in CWM before you flash the hotspot.

Just flashed working great except it did wipe my data. op says it does not. Not a big deal. I have backup.

I'm on cm7
If I made a backup
Then flashed this and updated my prl
Then restored my cm7
Would that work?? Would I still have the updated prl or would it b back to what I currently have???
I know there is another flash that puts cm7 on my sd card but that seems like a very long process to untar the file and go thru the whole thing lol

You're right, I'm sorry. If you flash from a BML ROM, then it will wipe data when it converts to MTD. Otherwise, if you are already on an MTD ROM, it should not wipe data.

One more question though, I have an old disable journaling file on my sd and I was wondering if that will work on mtd (old one was on bml) I just would like to turn off journaling

Only issue I am having is wifi constantly connects and disconnects. May stay for 5 secs then drop. Clean install. Any ideas?
Edit: had to reset my router. Strange that only el30 roms had issues. All good now

This is just downloading at 10kb file for me. Is anyone else having trouble with the host? Mirror?

Is anyone over here using 4EXTRecovery?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161710
I've been rocking it this evening and it's pretty cool. It is particularly refreshing not to have to jump through hoops when restoring an EXT4 file system that gets downgraded with CWM by default to EXT3. Props to the dev of this. This is great work.
I'm rocking 4EXT right now. Very convenient. Ask the features of CWM with the added benefits of everything else

Yeah I'm enjoying it. I love how it does not make you scroll through 20 "no's" just to flash something. I haven't chafed the color but I did change the background picture. I added...of all things...an android ninja lol!

I did that to my ROM that was supposed to be EXT4 but was using a Nandroid so it was "downgraded" to EXT3. Didn't have any issues at all, but the ROM I'm running is supposed to be EXT4. Check your ROM dev's stats and see what file system the cache is supposed to be is one suggestion.
Converted cache fine on ninja 0716

You're welcome. I was just over in the Desire threads poking sticks in the bushes and ran across this. I've been flashing stuff...just so I can use it . No errors at all for me, and reformatting my partitions to the file systems they should be is a snap.
I just installed it a little bit ago. I've only been rooted for a few days and don't 100% know what I'm doing yet, but it installed without a hitch and seems cool. I'm trying to change the theme on mine, but it's not working exactly as planned.
Just install the zip file through recovery and depending on which version you are using you will either have to reboot the phone back into recovery to see the changes or if you are on 2.11b it will reboot for you.

I think any version will reboot its self as long as the person who made the theme set it up.to do so.

Yup. Boot into CWM and format cache, data and system partitions. Wioe dalvik cache and then flash darkside. Odin back stock. Flash CWM. Flash darkside again. The flash sky ics. Reboot. TWICE. Then flash faux 010m.
I know it seems long but it'll take 10 min, tops. I can guarantee it'll completely fix your problem

[SCRIPTS] [Updater-Scripts] EFS-backup, Clean_Wipes, Wifi Fix

Hey Guys. (THESE HAVE ONLY BEEN TESTED BY ME ON GB 2.3.6)
I have put together a collection of updater scripts for my own use. I think they will be helpful.
They are a work in progress...I may need some more testers or feedback.
I wasn't sure if these belonged in the Themes/apps or Q/A. I guess mod can move if appropriate.
If more needs come up, I can try to fix or do something else.
1. The EFS_Backup will back up your EFS into a tar file that can be restore via Odin, Heimdall or extract/copy/paste in the even you lose your EFS on a bad flash. It will be handy to have. I know it works because I tried it several times. You only need 1 or 2. It will make a file on your /SDCARD/EFS_BACKUP/
2. Clean_Wipe: This contains multiple layers of delete of old systems files, data files, cache files, dalvik files and any other left overs from a previous ROM. Hopefully flashing this before you flash a ROM will wipe all traces of previous ROM to give you a clean slate. This will not erase your SDcard or microSD card.
DO NOT FLASH THIS unless you are ready to flash a ROM or have a ROM on your SDcard. If you tried to reboot without flashing a ROM, all you will see is a pretty bright white Samsung logo.
Ideally this will eliminate the need to jumping around in CWM trying to manually erase everything.
3. Bluetooth_fix. Ideally this would restore the infuse BT function bases on UCLB3 files. Flash it. Fix permission and reboot. It seems to work for some but not others...I don't know why yet. This is tested on INFUSE NATIVE ROM only..I DONT BELIEVE THIS WILL WORK ON MIUI or CM7. I have no idea what that will do. If I get more understanding, I will make revisions if needed.
4. Wifi_Fix: After flashing some ROMs, some people have wifi issues. Dropping etc. I have suspected that it is due to left over from previous ROMs or problems with multiple writes during cache build. I'm not sure. I have not had this happened to me over some many attempts to borked it. I wrote this up as an attempt to delete the broken configuration and force a new file generation.
I tried it on mine and it does just that. However, not being broken before, I can't tell if if will fix your borked wifi connection. The current best fix is reseting your router or changing the DHCP time - which in essense, forces your phone to produce a new configuration. This may save you a walk to your router log in and changing the DHCP.
edit: (3/28/2012) This may not fix more long standing wifi issues some users are having. It may fix the log on/drop off scenario.
Again...my disclaimer is that this is for development purposes. I have tried them all...I can make no warranties on them or their safety on your phone.
I hope you can find them useful.
Feedback is welcome...good or bad...so I can learn some more.
I like the practicality this has.

Thanks..one more confirmed working.
The idea I had in the wipe script is that sometimes a complete wipe is not needed. One may want to save some data. In vagabond, I had put in complete wipes to ensure first time installation success... that got tedious after frequent set ups when I was testing. If I set up another build, no wipe will be in the ROM. The end user can decide. I thought this would be useful for others as well switching between ROMs without the hassle of navigating in cwm.
thanks qkster
the Clean Wipe is it just a faster way to wipe data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik? is it better then going odin or Heimdall?

It's faster than trying to jump around in cwm wiping everything. It will ensure a 99% clean..I'm leaving the last 1% for the idk moment. For most instances, it will suffice.
I use Heimdall or Odin only when I need to fix a boot loop, system file error, partition corruption or if I thought the problem came from using a froyo base with a gb rom.
I really like this idea. The wipe file is genius.

To flash, you must first flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?2000k5y512spft4
Then boot into recovery, wipe data/cache, go to mounts and storage and format system, then flash the rom. Gapps are here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip . You'll probably have to mount system manually under mounts and storage before flashing gapps.
I've only tested this using gingerbread bootloaders, no idea if it works using froyo bootloaders. If you don't want to deal with the caveats of gb bootloaders, then well, fix it yourself.
what works:
radio (calls/sms/data)
touchscreen
audio
wifi
sensors
hw acceleration
software and hardware video decoding
data usage monitor (for wifi at least)
what doesn't work:
camera/camcorder
bluetooth
anything else is either broken or completely untested.

Development for MIUI skyrocket has been started by 0xD34D.
Please assist him by testing and giving logcats of any issues you have.
His name is lithium76 here on xda.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Place zip on root of SD card.
2. Boot into cwm, take a nandroid.
3. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache.
-----3a. Or use darkside wipe.
4. Install zip from SD.
5. Reboot system. Enjoy
NOTES:
This has most of the same bugs our aokp R1 had and maybe a few other small bugs.
To fix reboot menu. After initial boot let rom settle for 5mins, manually boot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik. Reboot system.
