[Q] Just bought a Sensation 4G (T-Mo) - General Questions - HTC Sensation

Just bought a Sensation 4G (T-Mo) and I have some general questions.
Background - I have had several android phones and flashed many a ROM.
1) Anything special about the T-mo Variant or do I just follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
2) Any suggestions for a rock solid ROM? I value stability and function over bells and whistles.
Anything else I should be thinking about?
Thanks!

for number one... Yes I followed that same instructions...
I use insertcoin 3.4.4 at this time... Yes gingerbread still .. Its pretty much stable and I can say, on my 3 months experience with the rom; its bug free.... I flash shnizlon version of Beats (ver 4 I think) and its awesome... I flashed an overclocked stock kernel also by sebastianFM (1.5 GHz, 300 MHz 3d, 227 MHz 2d).
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats

1. Its a good thread to follow
2. Android revolution 3.x or 4.x ARHD by mike1986
3.x is 2.3.4 which is official base so its solid and everything works great plus battery life is greatly improved over the software that came with the phone.
4.x is also good. ts 2.3.5 which is technically beta but has been around for a while.
2.3.4 includes Sense 3.0
2.3.5 includes Sense 3.5
Virtuous has always made rock solid 2.3.4 roms.:

I have been using Sensation for a while and tested GB and ICS on the device. I can surely tell that ICS didn't work for me as it has too many bugs still, so I returned to GB, particularly to ARHD 4.1.1 which works really well.

[Q] Best ROM for TMOUS Sensation?

In my humble opinion, it is quite annoying how they aren't giving these ROM threads any prefixes as to if they were designed on foreign devices or US devices.
For the TMOUS Sensation owners, which ROM are you using? And why?
I have been using the Senseless Extreme 2.0 for awhile...it is lite but I have been noticing some lag and often the sliders on the lockscreen disappear and I have to slide my finger across an empty area to unlock the phone..
Android Revolution 3.0.4 is amazingly fast and stable on my TMOUS Sensation. You won't be disapointed.

TMOUS here and I have tried a few roms, from the ARHD, Leedroid, Virtuous and now on Coredroid. All have there pluses and minus'.
But I look for roms that still keep most of what I want, regardless of Tmous or not. If it has wifi calling and is mainly in English then I'll try it. So for coredroid with the latest faux kernel is smooth and fast for me. No lag to speak of.
Have you tried insert coin? I haven't but many others have said that has been the fastest rom thus far.
I'm on T-Mobile USA also, InsertCoin is by far the best rom I've used so far on this phone and the only rom I've used. It's fast and great support and gets updated many times a week. The dev is always in the thread helping out, looking for bugs and whatnot. Great rom, I'll be using it until I get bored of Sense, and hopefully then Badnewz will start also dev-ing asop roms too.
Most ROMs should have no problem running on TMOUS phones. Some people have problems with radios, but you can always try different ones. I've been using InsertCoin for weeks with the recommended radio with no problems even though it's been based off the European ROM. Flash different ROMs until you find the one that works best for you. There are some based off the TMOUS ROM if you want to start there.
Insertcoin 2.4.2 + 0.1.2 faux kernal. thats perfect. smooth and fast. then flash t6he latest radio. sure work with tmous sensation. enjoy.

Are you using the NoHz or the JRCU edition of the faux kernel?
Battery life
Those who have tried multiple ROMs which would you say gives you the best battery life?

Flash JRCU 1.56ghz work very fast and stable (no bug) on my lovely sensation !!
Frankinstine and eavleblood are 2 tmo based Roms. I'm using frankinstine right now and so far so good. It was also updated today with some nice features. Havnt had a chance to flash update yet
ARHD 3.0.4 with faux NoHZ 0.1.2 1.56 kernel.
Absolutely smooth and fast, no lag and very good battery life.
I've tried several, but by far, in my opinion, the best two are InsertCoin and Android Revolution HD 3.0.4. The new Faux kernel makes both of these run fast and smooth.
Honestly I still can't decide which of the two I like more. Try them out.

I'm using Android Revolution HD 3.5.0 and want to try other roms. If not satisfied I'll go back to stock rom.
I don't care too much for HTC Sense - AOSP guy myself. The XboarderMOD 1.0.5 ROM - which is based on CM7 is pretty cool. Phone feels so fast with sense gone.
yep, u got to luv getting rid of sense/bloat for speed!
I'm on LEEDROiD myself. Since he's UK based, I just gotta change the gps.conf and change the horrendous lockring, then I'm good to go. Took a look at the other ROMs, but saw no reason to switch. Tried CM7, but came back after a week.
Good battery life, really stable, works really well in general. It's what Sense should have been imo.

[Q] Would you be able to use the stock ICS ROM on the Sensation

Would it be possible to use the to use the stock ICS ROM on the Sensation?
Just plain ICS like on the Galaxy Nexus...
Just noob question but I do like the look of my friends Nexus.
Virtuous Quattro is the closest you'll get right now.
Ah okay thank you

ICS Rom for the Sensation 4G
Virtuous Quattro is a great ICS rom for the Sensation but i like OnceICS. It is in version 1.0.7z and it is running Android 4.0.3. The only issues i have is WiFi calling and I have had 1 random reboot.
does any of them support custom kernels yet
On all of the different ICS roms that I have looked at, SebastionFM's kernel is the only hacked kernel that is mentioned. However, it seems to have stability issues, especially on the 4.0.3 builds. So, it is pretty much recommended to keep the kernel stock.
Plus, they run pretty good stock anyways. At least insertCoin does, which is what I have used 98% of the time so far.
Hope I helped
Thank you to all who helped!

[Q] Which is the best ROM?

Hi guys,
Been running the HTC Desire & LG Optimus 3D for the last 12 months, done a bit of work on both and tried pretty much every ROM availiable for both phones. Just got hold of a Sensation that I'm looking to Root, S-Off, install CWM and then install the best stable ICS ROM.
Looking for one that gives full ICS experience with good battery life but is still fast and smooth.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
John
Best stable ICS rom is stock ICS rom like this one HERE (thanks mike1986)
This is my very personal opinion of course.
insertcoin roms are the bestest roms in the forums
ofcorse this is mine n millions others opinon

These are my favorites in descending order:
1. Insert Coin
2. ARHD
3. Elegancia
I tried all of them. Believe me the best rom (stable, fast, nice) rom is stock ics
rom. install 3.32.401.105 version, then leedroid tweaks + Beats audio + 1.5 ghz sebastian kernel. This is what rommakers does. this is best for me.

[Q] Recommended Gingerbread Rom

Hey Guys,
what "STABLE" gingerbread rom do u recommended?
I usually play games alot and surf the internet so i need the battery to last long.
ARHD 3.x
Android Revolution Hd is the best...
You can't argue with ARHD, its the most stable.
ARHD too, the most stable Gingerbread ROM.
Thanks guys.
ARHD ftw!
Guys
can u give me the mirror link for arhd 3.6.13?
my download speed is slow if i download from the main link.
Thanks.
I'd recommend Bulletproof. My wife won't let me upgrade her Sensation to ICS because of great battery, no reboots, etc with that Rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
is there a link or website where old gingerbread roms are stored??
Everything is based om ics now and all the old gingerbread links are removed?
insertcoin
i use an old incertcoin rom witch i have , found to be the most stable en battery efficient .
InsertCoin_Sensation_Android_2.3.4_Stable_2_2.5-SE
you also need an incremental rom to instal on top of this
InsertCoin_Sensation_Android_2.3.4_Stable_2_2.5-SSE
i can t locate them on the internet anymore , i have it on my harddisk
In the ARHD thread is still a link to a Gingerbread rom in the first post. (Ver 3.6.13, it`s Android 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0)
cyanogenmod 7.1- best for battery life and multitasking

Does anyone have a link to download InsertCoin 2.2.5 SE ?
Hi,
ARHD 3.6.13 is HERE
i've been using arhd for a long time now. i think it's the best gb-rom
I would prefer the energy Rom, because it has tweaks (like the leedroid tweaks for ics)

Suggest Fastest & Bug free ROM for Desire S

Please suggest Bug free and fastest ROM for Desire S
currently i am running
Android 4.0.3 HTC sense 4.0
ROM : CoolDroid v 6.1 Revolution
Kernel Version : 3.0.16g61209db
baseband : 20.4801.30.0822U3822.10.08.04m
that's a matter of opinion but the Roms that are most stable are the GB Roms, but like I say it's all a matter of opinion. 100 people= maybe 100 different answers. Read the Rom threads and try some, figure out what's best for you
sent from the thing I stab with my finger when I've got two minutes
My Opinion -
Fastest - Andromadus
Bug-Free - Any Sense 3.6 ROM based on official RUU/leak
Combination of speed and stability - Fallout
I tried Reaper V3 very fast but I couldn't pair the phone with my car kit so moved to Endymion_V3.5 which is great so far.
Endymion or Reaper.
Fallout or another 4.0 ROMS are not fast/smooth enough.
Why don't you just pick a few, flash them, try them out and then decide which is the best for you?
What suits somebody else might not suit others. For instance I currently need ICS but I don't want Sense because I think Vanilla looks much better, I also don't want a pile of crap on my phone at the start so I went with CM9 but somebody else may prefer Sense 3.6 or 4.0 so they choose a Sense ROM.
You can find out how buggy a ROM is just by reading the thread for it.
I personally am running
[ROM][May 23]Virtuous Saga v.1.0.0 [3.04.401.1][Sense 3.6 Android 4.0.4]
I like Virtuous ROMs, have been using Virtuous Unity before this one. Everything works fine.
In my opinion, the latest Andromadus JB is the fastest of all the 4.x roms I tried, definitely the smoothest. Other roms I tried were Fallout, ICE DS and Virtuous Saga.
I've tried almost every ICS ROM that's there in the development thread and I've found ICE DS the most stable and speedy out of all of them. I'm not even going to bother with GB in this case because it looks bad.
I recomend Fallout without doubs
Fallout with new oc kernel. Only problem with fallout is wifi hotspot
