Setting wallpaper - HTC Desire S

Hi guys,
Is there a proper way to set the wallpaper from the photo on my cell? Whenever i tried to do so it asks me to select one region from the complete photo and then it blows up to make the wallpaper. This finally doesn't look good
Thanks for your advise in advance

Drag the edge of the selection box to make it bigger.
However, you cannot change the aspect ratio of the selection box, because it has to have the same ratio as the screen of your phone.
Hope this helped!

Great, thanks!! I think earlier the selection screen use to come pretty much square and always use to mess up the desktop. Now its coming matching to the screen resolution, not sure if ot was a result od update between android 2.2.3 and 2.3.5
Thanks again

Yup. 2.3.5 I assume your sense is also 3.0 now. It has a diff aspect ratio and hence you are experiencing it first time!

[Q] Edit Sense Live Wallpaper

I have been looking for a way to edit already made live wallpapers. All I want to do is use the HTC LWP with the floating colored circles and edit it to be slightly darker. That way my phone screen can stay a little brighter but the LWP running in the back is slightly dim.
Thanks for any info.
Anyone?

Bump... Any one have a clue? At least for the tint of the colors or something simple like that?

I'm not really sure, but u can use apk manager to decompile the app. The only problem is that u would have to do that manually.

Wallpaper Thread

Hi all,
Didn't see a wallpaper thread for our qHD Sensations, so I thought I'd start one. First off, a wall that I just downloaded from the Atrix 4G that I think looks fantastic on the Sensation (better than HTC's walls, IMO).
Keep the wallpapers to a minimum of 540x960, please. 1080x960 for those who aren't using Sense.
I go with my tried & true fluorescence from Digital Blasphemy or just about any wallpaper from that site
taken when I got my HD2
Here's mine...

That's exactly the wall that I had on my PC when I met my wife...she asked if I was a stoner (it would make more sense if she asked if I did shrooms, hah).
This site has some pretty good wallpapers, you just have to crop it a little since they are for the iPhone.
Made this for myself , just love how dock and not-bar blend with it.
Great thread!
Was just looking for a thread like this so thanks for starting one!
Here is one of my favorites in both 540x960 and 1080x960.
if i view the page on my phone, how do i set some of these images as my wallpaper?
thanks
Nice one m8 using it now

I always use the XDA app. Not sure if a long press can immitate a right click on the device, but give it a try. Otherwise, view the thread with the XDA app or transfer the wall to your device via USB.
Edit: Just tried it out, simply press the image, it will open the larger version, then long press and select save image.

thanks for the help. i had to open the image in a new window first as it kept disappearing for some reason.
thanks again
poolga.com/ and tseventy.com/ have some very cool and original wallpapers, they are for the iphones resolution but can be cropped to suit the sensation screen.

I always end up going back to this one. Looks great centered when using Sense.
Some more of my favorites. Resolution is a little smaller (was for my Vibrant), but they are high res enough to not be very noticeable if at all.
And more...
Last one for now...
just downloaded half of these walls thanks all! the HD Wallpapers app has some decent ones, but these are better
Here are some of the wallpapers I use, enjoy!
And some more.

How to Set Wallpaper without it turning low resolution

Ok, I'm sure that it's not only me having this issue, but
I'm trying to install the CleanROM 3.0 Wallpaper and any time that I do, it crops it and turns all pixelated. I've noticed this with any wallpaper I try to set that's not a system wallpaper.. is there any way to fix this??
I'm currently Running CleanROM DE 3.1
but i've noticed this on pretty much every ROM i've ran
here is the wallpaper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27624455&postcount=24
I've actually spent yesterday figuring out how to do this in a super roundabout way.
I put the wallpapers I want into CleanROM 3.0 SE ROM itself. I edited the ROM zip file with 7-zip, inserted the background I wanted in the correct location and performed a full data wipe. Then I flashed it to the phone.
And walla, it works... I now have the 2 wallpapers I want in full resolution.
I'm sure there is an app that can put a full resolution wallpaper in your phone for you. I just never looked... lol
We had a similar problem with the HP Touchpad and a guy made an app on the play store to remedy it (here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5raGFubmluZy50cHdwYXBwbGllciJd)
Unfortunately it only works with the Touchpad's resolution, though if someone made an app to support our resolution then it would work fine.
Just resize it when you select the wallpaper. Touch the opposing corners on the crop box and drag to make it bigger.

I remember back when I first got my inspire and was using the sense launcher, i believe I used an app called wallpaper wizardii or something like that. Might be worth giving a shot.

np, glad I could help.
this is by far the best app ive found

I've been using Zedge to set my wallpaper. When I set it through the app, it doesn't seem to lose quality, but if I try setting it through Sense from the downloaded picture, it does lose some quality.
Look up "dodol wallpaper" in the playstore. I set some pretty damn high quality photos as my wallpaper. Always amazes people!
I use an app call wallpaper set and save. It will keep the resolution of the image you are setting as the wallpaper.

wallpaper ?

can somebody explain this wallpaper deal on the 1X, i find a cool one that according to specs has the correct size. save it to the phone --then i either add it as wallpaper via the Gallery or Personalize and it shows me the wallpaper, with a green square on it that i can slightly enlarge but still it only uses about a third of the entire image, on top of that.. quite a few look like crap (to put it blunt), very pixelated.. what am i missing here.
(related, yesterday i found how to have a different wallpaper on the lock screen but can;t find the setting anymore...)
Use quickpic from the market.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
uhm... not quite the explanation i was hoping for ;] will this app allow me to set larger wallpapers ? someone else say it may be a Sense "feature".
Gotta use an app like the one above to make full res wallpapers. I think dodol wallpaper from the marketplace also works.

The "green square" just shows where the home screen will be. Sense has scrolling wallpaper, so you will still see the area to the left and right of the green square as you scroll left and right n sense.

understood, but it also cuts of the top and bottom while i used the right resolution which then makes (if it has something on the image...) pixelated, someone said it may just be Sense who causes that. i find it odd, i download the exact size and have to cut pieces.

Do not ask a question without first making peace with yourself and knowing what you are looking for. If you want to fix that, use quickpic app from the market. Of not, good luck making your own gallery app

You do realise you can expand the green box and stretch it to the top and bottom of the image?

yes, i can resize but only so far, and the green box resizes proportional.
Guys, don't be so quick to jump on the op. Its pretty clear what he's trying to say. I know because I experienced it. I'm gonna take a guess and say ur using stock ROM? I had the same problem when I was in stock ROM, he green square only stretches so far, it does not encompass the entire image, therefore the image it sets as your wallpaper becomes stretched and therefore pixelated. I also tried to find ways around this op but I couldn't find any, well that is until I flashed another ROM. I can't quite remember I it worked when I ran cleanrom, but any aosp ROM will work like aokp and cm9/10. With these ROMs the green square stretches out to encompass the full image therefore giving you the right resolution for ur home screen. Other than that I know of no way around the problem. Flash an aosp ROM op, you will thank me for it later

The green box isn't supposed to stretch across the whole image. The green box represent one Sense tab, ie the homescreen. The area ot the left and right of the green box is still part of the wallpaper, when you scroll left and right through the Sense tabs.
I don't see the problem here?

i was using the clock lock-screen, to be able to use a different wallpaper on the lock-screen you must choose "wallpaper" instead of the clock lock screen.. can't have both i guess (#unrooted)
Myself I find pics in range of 1280x1440, that gives nice clear picture viewable over several scrolling screens.
Of course, Ymmv.

[Q] Changing wallpaper, and amount of screens

First time using sense fyi.
Everytime I try to change wallpaper it says it was changed, but its still the stock sense theme wallpaper. I can change themes no issue, but doesn't change to one I want. What's the deal?
Next, stock it came with like 7 screens. I only use 3, maybe 4. For the life of me I can't find a way to reduce the amount. Help me out here?
Thank you sorry just got the one s last night. Came from nexus one. Haven't tried rooting this or anything yet. Just getting used to the phone itself first.
