Known Problems
If you have problems while re-rooting or custom recovery (unrevoke) try to downgrade again with the above procedure.
Make sure you have made a new goldcard.
If you have problems e.g. 140 ERROR please follow these instructions (thx to raz2133)
This will fix your MISC Partition so you can flash back original RUU files.
Happy re-rooting
P.S. i hope you can understand this because english is not my foreign language
Great News!
Im not Root-Bricked ^^ but someone else will be happy with it =)
Edit: Why is 1 Pic from July and one from March!? And different times.
Thank you!!!
Maybe you should add: this wipes your device...
This is great, keep up the good work! =)
Edit: Are we sure those that do not have a carrier locked/branded also needs to create a goldcard?

The User maximini1 has found a thread where they describe how you can downgrade to 0.80 again.
So i try to explain how you have to do it.
Preparation

2. Hold Volume up and press power
3. wait until PB99IMG.zip was found and checked
4. Press Volume Up <yes> - PICTURE 1
5. Wait until all steps are done. DON't POWER OFF YOUR DEVICE!!! - PICTURE 2

Looks like it's possible for those with an unbranded/unlocked phone:
mbroeders said:
First of all, I have an unbranded simlock-free phone. All I did was
1. download the file to SD card.
2. rename to PB99IMG.zip
3. boot into recovery (turn phone on while holding down volume)
4. just let it load the zip file and press yes when asked to install
Easy as that!

Ok, I never rooted my android before and I have the OTA 2.2 Froyo update on an unbranded Desire. After I complete these steps, what do I need to do to install a custom rom?
Thanks!

Root your phone with unrevoked, using on of these guides for example:

Ok for the dumb and ignorant among us (a.k.a me) what state does this leave your phone in.
I get I downgrade HBOOT to 0.80 and my phone will be wiped, but what ROM will be on the phone after the downgrade will it still be the OTA rom or will it be another one?
Or do I then need to install a ROM of my choice after the downgrade, sorry if this is a really stupid question, I haven't put any custom ROM on my Desire yet and then I got the OTA update as I was thinking about checking out some custom stuff. Not had the phone long.
Thanks.
{EDIT} someone beat me to it as I was typing this post thanks for the above!

After you've done the steps above you will have the following:
Blank and wiped device
Firmware: 2.1-update1 UNROOTED!
HBOOT: 0.80
Basband(Radio): 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernel: [email protected]#1
Build: 1.21.405.2 CL174215 release-keys
With that you can root and flash anything you want
Thanks for the tuto.
Hello sweety 0.80, bye bye dirty 0.92 ^_^
Worked for me.
Btw, didn't need the gc
Well, if this works AdamG doesn't have to find a way to root hboot 0.92.
:/
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Has anyone tried this on a branded, but rooted phone?
I've got an O2 branded desire with hb00t 0.83, I can root with unrevoked, but can't boot into recovery =( Hoping this will fix it.
It's works fine! Why doesn't work the recovery bat. on my PC?

The OTA update for GRI54 was downloaded by my phone, however because I use Clockwork Recovery the update Google update procedure did not work.
Anyone know where I can manually download to GRI54 update to 2.3.4 (GRI40 isn't working it seems)?
Look in your logcat for download Link and post it here plz.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Oh yes.. please do post the link
Agreed... haven't seen a GRI54 link yet. Need to get that to MoDaCo Paul ASAP (although he's probably busy watching the wedding)
Unfortunately logcat only seems to show messages since last reboot. And I already rebooted in order to try to get the update installed Also I can't get the phone to attempt to download it again.
May be someone else could check before rebooting their phone?
Could you upload the update itself somewhere?
Do you know where on the file system I can find the update?
i would search on root of your sd card (/sdcard mount point) or in download dir on sdcard?
Or you can just search for .zip files on your sd card with weird file names
Oh.. nexus s does not have sdcard (just USB storage) but the mount point is the same /sdcard
Found it
Unfortunately I can't post URLs yet. So take the GRI40 update URL and replace the filename with:
486786a7fd97.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI54.486786a7.zip
Note: I have not tested this update myself yet. Use at your own risk!
As I see only 2.3.3-to-2.3.4 link is known now, look on AndroidCentral:
GRJ22-from-GRI40: http://android.clients.google.com/p...749.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI40.a14a2dd0.zip
Should wait a bit for logcats from other versions.
SanjuroE, where did you find it, aren't there GRJ22-from-GRH78C ?
Downloading... will update you all as soon as I apply this.

I found it in my /cache directory. My phone was at GRI54 when I bought it, so I don't have any other updates.

i want to root my phone but Sprint seems to have patch the root exploit, so i am thinking of doing a factory restore.
does anyone know what software version it will resort back to, currently i am on 2.3.4.
You will still be on 2.3.4 you need to search for the method then reds until your head hurts

This root method works wonders nothing is more better then to learn to manually root your device. Of course you can use the tool provided in the, the development forums, but I personally enjoy learning to do things without the use of developed tools.
If you need help feel free to ask we are here to help ^_^
Good luck don't turn your device into a brick READ READ AND READ FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY HOW THEY ARE YOU WILL BE A OK.

Use the manual method by Indirect if you want to have more control over what you're doing (also does not void your warranty) and definitely read read read
I would recommend at least going through the whole "user" section of xda-university before even touching your phone, it has tons of useful information

Definitely, also just FYI but when you do a factory restore that simply wipes all app data (both user and system apps)

Best advice I can give you is to Read, Read, Read, and Read some more. Use the search function a ton, as it will help you to get used to resolving issues in the future. Because sometimes even when people are willing to help, answers are hard to come by. Also there are a few links you can check out in my Signature. Na i was using you shift rootility tutorial, but i screwed up and put the wrong PG06IMG.zip in the $path. there was 2 versions a 12.7MB and a 227MB one. i didn't realize that i needed to do the 227MB to downgrade first then after it's downgraded then use the 12.7MB one.
so i stopped mid way through and tried to boot normally, which sent me into a boot loop. doing a factory restore fixed the boot-loop and now i am starting over again.
BTW CNexus you have some dead links in your Tut.

Hi all, first I want to thank to this community that helped me to solve a lot of problems just reading the posts
I have a little problem, I've an HTC One S (S4), already unlocked and rooted, I would like to install the maximusHD ROM so I'm following the procedure of SuperCID and S-OFF. I tried the standard SuperCID procedure with hex editor but cid didn't change after the procedure so I understood the nand it's locked.
I want to follow the moonshine procedure but now I have android 4.1.2 with TrickDroid 10.3.2 and I don't know if it's possible with this firmware or not or if I need to upgrade to another before..
If someone knows, please let me know, thank you guys!

in second, yes, my Hboot is 2.15 and my radio is 1.15 and I know that my phone is write protected, but it has also the T-MOB101 CID that is supported (as I can see on moonshine documentation).
Now, on moonshine download folder it's wrote for T-MOB only " ROM Version 3.14.531.11" , what it refers to this number? where can I check it? I read also that's possible some kind of down/upgrade to ROMs supported by moonshine, but, before I move, I really like to know from you if it's possible and what to do.
Thank you again

So you need from moonshine the file: HTC One S TMO_DE (3.16.111.10).

Yes my phone comes from Germany so it's possible that's TMobile germany, but are you sure of this? Because it's automatic to think that CID T-MOB101 needs the T-MOB version, but if you're sure, I'll trust you

The most easy way is to restore a TWRP backup with this ROM.
I have upload here a TWRP backup from my phone. (Boot ans System only - no Data partition)

Hello there.
I have got another problem once again with getting my phone into stock.
I have the HTC u11 + from Taiwan, it's on 1.24.709.93.
So before I had Magisk installed and Unlocked bootloader. It modified my bootloader and then an update came up the update 1.24.709.994. So I wanted to update to it because it's annoying that it just pops up every now and then with a popup. So at first I tried to install it via normal ways by just clicking it to install it. It didn't work, it just went up to 25% when it was trying to install and then the Red exclamation mark came up. I know you can't install an OTA if you bootloader is modified. I got the 1.24.709.93 boot.img and flashed it over fastboot and then it successfully flashed it.
So I downloaded the RUU 1.24.709.93.rar one and then changed the name to 2Q4DIMG.zip then I put it into my sd card. I boot up to my download mode and press the VolUp and start flashing the 2Q4IMG.zip file. But I keep getting the 22_RU_Header_ERROR, 22_RU_Header_ERROR, FAIL22 RU_HEADER_ERROR. I don't understand why.
Can I get some help please?
Thank you very much for reading this.
The company HTC has never released its firmware in rar format. What you downloaded is a repackaging of the firmware files. Try to flash it was not worth it. The original RUU should only be a zip and signed with the appropriate key. For example 2Q4DIMG_OCEAN_M_DUGL_O80_SENSE90gp_htc_asia_tw_1.24.709.93_Radio_8998-002772-1712201227_release_528412_signed_2_4.zip

Thank you for the reply my friend.
However I really can't find any RUU files for the HTC U11 +. Could you maybe point out where it could possibly be?
Thanks once again.

You guys are the best. Thank you very much for the help. I didn't know that I had to specifically get that .zip file that had that appropriate key.
It worked flawlessly and now I updated my phone so it's perfect.
Thanks once again guys. You are the best!!!
