[Q]Bricked? - HTC Sensation

well i flashed my HTC Sensation XE beats audio with 3.24 and using ARHD 6.1.1, i am getting a boot loop, when flashing back to stock rom nandroid, and same thing with ARHD 3.6.13, i am currently downloading RUU_Pyramid_Voda-Hutch_AU_1.45.862.3_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_220002_signed and for some reason its going at 15 kb/s, i have tried flashing to 3.12 firmware and then ARHD 3.6.13, right now im trying my nandroid backup on the 3.12 firmware.Tried stock rom and didn't work
So please what is wrong and is the RUU bold above the right one for my device, and will it fix the problems that im having?
BTW Will the 4ext factory reset work?
really need urgent help, i am not feeling well coz of this

//http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462691 i have a some kind of a problem too. Did i brick my phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462691

If you have the latest firmware update it is not compatible with GB ROMS. Is your backup a GB ROM. You need to flash a modified 1.17 bootloader and you should be back in business. Please use the search feature for the forum please, there are dozens of threads on the topic with solutions.
Bricked means no power, bootloop means no brick.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using xda premium

umm ive been looking around, in "firmware" "bootloader" and such and i didn't find and thing about modified bootloader, i even google searched "modified bootloader" and "bootloader 1.17" and nothing
Never mind I was using the wrong ARHD ROM 6.0.3 I think when i flashed my firmware for 6.1.1 now its working

[Q] i think i just bricked my sensation XE - Solved

I think i just bricked my sensation XE but am not 100% sure since i can still get into recovery but if i boot up the device, it get stocked in HTC boot up image.
Here is actually what happened... i wanted the new ICS, so i flashed the new firmware and flashed DarkForest Sensation XE ICS 5.0. it worked fine but i couldn't connect to wifi which is the only available internet connection i have, so i tried going back to the ROM which i used before which is MIUI from backup. it showed me restore completed but when i tried booting the device it get stocked in the boot up image, i tried wiping dalvik cache still same thing, i tried going back to the ICS and still i got the same problem. i also tried flashing both Roms and still i get the same problem, the only difference is for the ICS which gets stock in the beats audio logo.
Please i don't know if the problem i get is from the new firmware or if am doing it the wrong way. the phone is just two month old please help
Definitely not bricked.
I assume DarkForest 5 needs the 3.24 firmware. What Android version is the MIUI one based one?
When you try go back to ICS how long does it get stuck at the boot screen for? 10 minutes?
the miui is based on android 2.3.7 and when i try going back to the ICS, it get stock for over 30 minutes without any change
Best thing is to flash the orgional ruu that comes with your phone then start again. It will replace your boot loader and radio and sort out the issues for you. Dont worry your phone is not bricked! It is only truly bricked if you mess up during the install of the boot loader.
Before installing ICS, you might have flash a 3.24 FW.
To get back to GB, you have to downgrade FW to 1.17 version.
Have a look on this Thread for more retails.

Need help with ICS upgrade from HTC

Hi all, I have been waiting long for the official upgrade to ICS from JTC which I was over the moon when I checked software update on my phone and found it was available, I downloaded it , hit install, the phone shut down , I closed my eyes and opened them to see that the phone didn't finish the setup and Instead had the green Android man with a triangle next to it with (!) Inside , first I left it dor an hour and when nothing happened, I had to take the battery off and restarted the phone and tried it again but no luck.
My phone has the original Rom on it , not rooted , has s-off and has clockworks mod recovery on it , I even tried to install the update from recovery boot but kept coming with error and installation aborted , can anyone help me please? Much appreciated
Thanks

Stop fooling around with the original software when you have soff. Flash the latest firmware available here in forum and flash a custom rom.

u never upgrade from ota with custom recovery and s-off. i mean NEVER.
now your phone is soft bricked. get over it and flash the latest firmware and flash an ics rom
Thanks for ur reply, and sorry I realised it was the wrong sec right after I posted it, my question is is there away I can get it back s-on or if I uninstall clockworcksmod and wipe the Rom will it let me upgrade to original HTC ICS ? Or do I forget it and root it and get a cooked Rom ?
Sorry if I am a bit thick , I am usually not

you can. but it's a really complicated process and u may permanently brick your phone. my advice is that u just flash 3.32 firmware and flash any ics rom from here.

THIS IS FOR SENSATION, MAY WORK ON SENSATION XE, FOR MORE WAYS CHECK OUT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469296
Try this First, use 4ext recovery to format all partitions except sdcard, install stock ROM by running RUU and see if that helps, IF NOT use the below method
I got this working for me after I tried getting to stock from ICS custom rom and semi bricked my sensation, you use this at your own risk:
1. Use htc dev unlock method and then use 4ext recovery formatted all partitions except sdcard
2. Install custom rom , a 2.3.4 rom (use Android Revolution HD 3.6.13), can be downloaded from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14191938&postcount=1" as multiupload is not working so couldn't download any rom from there, so used above one
3. Reboot sensation, used revolutionary to get S-OFF
4. RUU was not flashing so do this : Relocked my phone by running "Fastboot OEM lock" with phone in fastboot USB and then reboot the phone
5. From "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033", Used METHOD 2 - ENG HBOOT [both Flash ENG HBOOT & Download an RUU and then Flash RUU (rom.zip)]
6. Once phone boots up, run the STOCK RUU.exe as normal (required else phone would not install OTA though downloads it without problem),
7. Once done and rebooted, used commands from "http://theunlockr.com/2011/10/03/how-to-unroot-the-htc-sensation-4g/" to put S_ON back
8. Result, relocked, S-ON and on STOCK with OTA installing without problem
Please tell if this helps
Dont make it s-off just install the ota to get rid off custom recovery
Then install the OTA
ore flash Mikes FW and then his stiock ICS
and has clockworks mod recovery on it
you need only stock recovery
jast flash orginal ruu and chek for update and install it

Virtuous inquisition 4.
For sense ics roms id go with mike1986 arhd 6.5.3 rom.
So what u need to do is root ur sensation
Supercid
Flash 4ext recovery. Its an apk and easy to do
Upgrade ur firmware to 3.32. Flash in bootloader.
Need mike1986 superwipe script
Rom of your choice.
Boot into recovery. Flash the superwipe. Then flash ur rom. Quick run down of what you need to do.
Skill required? Not much. The hardest part might be using adb and fastboot commands for the supercid. Other than that its easy as pie

thanks so much,so now the supercid i read up on it while requiring s-off and root thats alil confusing but ill read up on it again and the superwipe ive been seeing that on rom threads "flash superwipe" what is that and where would i get it?
and i need a big help,i tried upgrading my firmware to 3.32 and it said "wrong cid" "fail" now its stuck on the htc logo and bootloops help please :'(
Superwipe is down toward the bottom of OP of this thread. It leaves you with a very very clean phone. So no apps, no user data, no ROM. You'd want to have a nandroid backup at the very least before superwiping, as well as titanium backup for your apps etc. You just flash superwipe from recovery like a ROM (install .zip from sdcard).
Sounds like you've got hold of the wrong firmware for your CID. So you either need to know your CID (if you've got your head around adb and fastboot commands, "fastboot getvar cid" will get that for you) and find the right firmware, or supercid your phone so you can use any firmware. Go to this thread for firmware.
For your firmware there's a file,
android.txt, that has a list of CIDs. The T-Mobile CID usually isn't in it. If you do the superCID you shouldn't have to worry about it. Other wise you have to open the file located in the PGM581000 file and add CIDT-MO010 to the txt file. Either way make sure you delete the PGM file immediately after you flash it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation ICS 4.0.3 ARHD 6.5.3XE. Rockin'
Go to the dev thread for ROMs, ARHD is my preference. Good directions and all the files you need linked right there. Well most ROM threads are that way but this ROM and firmware are smooth and flawless.

This is misleading and not really true. First of all, VI is not true AOSP but Sense with most of the obviously sense parts removed. Secondly OpenSensation CM9 is hands down the best true AOSP rom and now that it has bluetooth and 1080p camcorder there's virtually no reason to use a senseless sense rom like vi.
to everyone that has tried to help me on this, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! giving me all the infos and quick break downs..
now i do have my phone up and running again but heres what i did..

CID is carrier identification. The thread you downloaded your T-Mobile firmware from contains firmwares for a variety of CIDs, in other words, specific to whichever carrier your phone came from. SuperCID removes that form of 'branding' and allows you to flash any firmware file, if you look through the list of firmware they can all be flashed to a device with CID 11111111. So essentially we superCID for convenience.
SuperCID has no bearing on what ROMs you can flash, the only consideration is that a particular ROM will require a certain firmware, eg. ICS ROMs need 3.12 base or higher.

Almost. SuperCID and custom recovery you can do no worries. Firmware upgrade will depend on what stock ROM is currently installed, if you flash firmware that your stock ROM isn't compatible with you will get bootloops and most likely have to downgrade. So personally I wouldn't be looking to upgrade firmware until you intend to flash a ROM that requires it. At that point you'll want a custom recovery anyway so it won't hurt to install that now.

Thanks. I'm currently on the T-Mobile Sensation 4G stock ROM S-Off/Rooted. Will going to the 3.32 firmware wipe the stock ROM or cause bootloops for sure?
I also have ClockWork Recovery from a really long time ago. Using ROM Manager to flash a new recovery (trying to update) does nothing. Why does that happen? Perhaps my recovery is too old?

I'm would assume your 4G would already be running ICS? In which case you probably already have up-to-date firmware installed. The firmware update generally applies for people coming from GB to ICS. Go to Settings/About Phone/Software Information/More/Build Number and see what numbers you have there.
Flashing firmware will not wipe your ROM, the worst that will happen is bootloops if the firmware and ROM aren't compatible.
The recovery you have now shouldn't stop you from flashing a new one, instead of using ROM Manager try downloading 4ext from the Play Store and see how that goes.

CM9 crashing help!

Everytime i boot CM9 it crashes as soon as i start pressing things after boot. I have tried 3 different ICS roms for my sensation 4G. I am S-off and rooted. What is going on? PLEASE HELP!
one thing i have noticed is when i try to wipe/factory reset i get an error in the log saying "E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2" I am using clockwork recovery v5.0.2.0
Dunno if this helps but I had similar symptoms until I flashed the 3.32 firmware, do look up the relevant threads, my aokp died every time but after I went to 1.27 hboot and flashed 3.32 I had full success flashing solo 0.35, berserk 1.1 and ordroid 5.0.2, perhaps you should look it up...?

which 3.32 firmware?

A couple noobie questions

Hello everyone,
I’m a total rookie by the way and and have spent a decent amount of time reading on my own before posting anything here. I am wanting to flash cm9 on my sensation 4g. Based on some of the research I have done, before I can flash cm9 I first need to install stock ics in order to get the 3.32 firmware correct? I also thought I read somewhere that before I can update the firmware I first need to update the hboot version (currently my hboot is 1.17.1111) but now I can’t find where I read that.
As I’m reading some of the guides on how to flash these roms it seems like all of them are saying “make sure you have cwm recovery installed”. Well when I first rooted my phone I was watching some youtube videos and following the steps. For some reason the one I chose had me install teamwin recovery, so that is what I use instead of cwm recovery. Does that make any difference? Can I still update firmware and flash ics roms with twrp?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA
Get supercid,root,s-off and cwm after thats done first download your desired rom and also the 3.32 firmware first boot into recovery flash the rom..
Then when its done just power off hold volume down + power (make sure fastboot is disabled ) and update firm ware reboot delete the pg58img from root of your sdcard and voila!
Sent From My Sexy Sensation.
well, you don't need to install the stock ics rom, but you need to flash the 3.32 firmware, that allows you to run ics roms...
I suggest you to install 4ext recovery, I don't know if you have to downgrade your hboot, mine was the right one and I don't know hot to do that, you'll find a guide or something like that on this forum...
if you have already rooted I think that you will not have any problem flashing a recovery or the fw...
and, my personal suggestion...if you want aosp experience flash aokp official rom, I tried both roms and aokp is more stock feeling

You have 1.17.1111 Hboot which tells me you are S-offed via Revolutionary. This means you can flash the 3.32 firmware that is linked in the ARHD ROM thread and then flash any Android 4.0.3 ROM you want to flash.
The Team win Recovery works just as good a Clockwork Mod Recoveryto me, 4EXT Recovery is my preferred re overy. You can use Team Win Recovery to flash any of the things you mentioned.
