Hi all, sorry for that I am a noob in this question, but please tell me normally in the correct oreder, what to do if I want to install Adroid Revolution HD on my HTC Sensation XE device? I have android 2.3.4 on it and I just finished the:
* HTC Sensation or HTC Sensation 4G or HTC Sensation XE S-OFF - Guide to S-off, Installing ClockWork, PermRoot, SuperCID & Flashing
by the guide what was written.
But now i just can't move forward. I want to install the AR HD with ICS 4.0.3 + Beats audio.
But i am totally confused what to do, because by the guide i am just ordered across by tons of web pages and i can't look through of it.
Please help me out.
P.S.: Do i have to buy that 4EXT or what is that program?
1: download the 4ext updater and install it on your phone.
2: Flash the correct Firmware (THIS) (put the firmware on the root of your SD card and reboot into bootloader (vol down + power))
3: Download ROM and place it on your SD card HERE
3a: Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card HERE
3b: Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power)
3c: In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
3d: Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
3e: Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
3f: After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
After that i flashed, not restart all the time my phone, shows the htc screen and the beats audio, and that's all.

Did you flash the firmware via boot loader?
Sent from my TripNiCE Pyramid using xda premium
Yes, Volume down + Power button. now i am in clockwokmod recovery and restoring everything. Maybe it will work, i am very sad and afraid that i lose my phone.
Nothing happened, after restore it's restarting at beats audio. i killed my phone
If you want to go back to you your other rom (restore) you have to flash the old firmware..
But did you followed the steps correct! And also the guide for s-off, root, supercid etc..
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
The s-off guide i followed correctly because when i enter the volume + power button the first thing what was written: revolutionary, the second was s-off, now it is s-off and LOCKED, and all the time reads the PG58IMG.zip and want to update every time. So i am confused.
You'll have to remove the PG58IMG.zip from your SD card before you reboot into recovery to install the ROM.
try removing the SD card before you boot into recovery then mount it back again and delete the PG58IMG file.
I will try to delete that zip file. Do i need to replace it with something, or just delete? After that i deleted i will make once again a recovery and i will post what i have found out.
Deleted the zip file, still can not do anything. now i CMW i want to restore and says can not mount sd-card. :S
Is there in the CMW menu something like mount? If yes choose it and then select mount sdcard
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I picked up that solution too, but i've got an error message. :S
Try to reboot your phone again. Pull out the battery wait 10 sec, put it back in and go to recovery.
okay i will try it. anyway i want to ask from you, that what firmware did you post me the Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU or the Firmware from 3.24.401.1 RUU?

Yes, you would need to get the recovery from an uploaded rom with the same build number as yours. e.g European 1.35.401.1
1. download the file attached. That is for clockwork recovery mod working for the sensation.
Find an RUU in the development thread or OTA update collections with the same build number.
replace recovery.img in the zip you downloaded below with your recovery.img from the official rom. Just extract it from rom.zip and then copy it into the PG58img.zip
2. Copy PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card) after you have changed the recovery.img in it.
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into Bootloader/HBOOT screen(See how to get Hboot post above)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android (normal screen with homescreen)
6. Remove PG58IMG from your memory card and YOU should now be back to stock recovery
Thanks mate!
Ill test it out tomorrow, really need some sleep atm.

Seemed to work like a charm, for me anyway. I'm back to original recovery again on my Sensation.
Was very worried when I saw what Mixmaven said about not being able to charge a dead battery due to CWM, on p.54 of Dev section Revolutionary thread.
Thanks ikhzter, for all the guides and help for us noobs.
I'm content with just having a rooted, unbranded, stock rom for now. No more vodafone logos and apps is like an early Christmas pressie in itself for me

If you download the 1.35.401.1 RUU exe, and get to the rom.zip from in that, there is a recovery_signed.img within that rom.zip.
and how would I do that? (looks like i'm a noob on that area)
I'm also interested to know how to do...
U can open the exe with winzip or winrar...
The attached file has had the Clockwork recovery replaced with the standard recovery from RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1....
I just put it on my sdcard, powered the phone off, powered on whilst pressing VOL DOWN. It found it and asked if I wanted to start the update.
I did this, and now have the stock recovery.
Will it do a whipe?
Just whant back s-on so i can update original ota 2.3.4 but dont whant to do a wipe

If I were you I would make sure I am running a custom ROM (this will be rooted properly). If you already are, backup up all your files, do a super wipe, and try installing another custom ROM.
Also make sure your WiFi is turned on whenever using ROM manager.

Thanks for the thread. I just went into RM and asked to flash the current recovery and that prompted me to choose the phone to flash and only the HTC Sensation was listed so that was easy peasy. I hit that, let RM flash the current recovery and during that the SU asked for root permission which I granted of course (this with the window to choose the phone was still up). When I noticed the background bar on top was done, I hit HTC Sensation in the pop up window again and it gave me a successful message.
I am now backing up my current ROM now (CoreDroid).
So.. The other day I rooted my htc sensation perfectly, and gained super user access, S-off and all that stuff to root.
So I flashed a MIUI rom onto the phone which worked perfectly.
Today I tried to flash the Virtuos Quattro ROM onto my phone and it didn't work. So I cleared the cache, user data, and all that, but every time I tried to flash the rom it came up with an error.
(At this point when I turned the phone on , it when in a boot loop..l unless I went into recovery mode.) so I tried to restore the MiUI ROM and it wouldn't work anymore..
So I formatted the system and still no luck. Formatted the SD card and no luck.
However, after doing all of that, I lost the MIUi ROM, have no way of getting to a home screen, and I don't know how to get back either to my stock rom or to the MIUI rom.
It still says I'm S-off.. But I have no clue how to get back to either my stock rom ( because I have no idea where to find it) which is what I want to do again
Have I deleted the stock rom?
Is there a way to get back to the stock rom in this case? Or what should I do?!?
In desperate need of help guys!!
Cheers

Download a Rom to your computer the go to recovery and mount sdcard plug the phone to your computer and put the Rom to your phone from your computer if this doesn't work use another phone and put your sdcard in that phone and put the Rom from your computer to your sdcard
If you've formatted the sd card, without making a backup of the stock nandroid on the computer, you've lost that.
Search here for stock sensation ROMs for your carrier (pretty much what you had before you started flashing ROMs) and, if you do want to go back to stock, follow the instructions to flash it. Then follow step 5 here *CAREFULLY* to get s-on and stuff again (if you're wanting to go that far).
I'd personally recommend trying to flash ARHD or something, a ROM that has been flashed by a lot of people - trouble free, again by following the instructions carefully. It could maybe just be something as simple as you got a bad download (always check md5 # to be on the safe side - and to ensure that stuff like this doesn't happen.)
Once you've rooted there's not really much cause for going back to stock, as most custom ROMs are edited to perfection for speed and efficiency.

Hi, don't worry. It is because whenever you are holding your power+volume- button , it boots into bootloader or HBOOT mode. This mode is intended to flash firmware package . ( i.e radio, HBOOT, Splash etc ) . That is why the bootloader searches your sdcard for the firmware package( PG58IMG.zip).
When it can not find it , it waits for user input , then u select recovery and press the power button.
In fact do not keep any PG58IMG.zip file on your sdcard if you do not want to flash your firmware. If this screen annoys you , you can use QUICKBOOT app from the market. By using this app you can directly boot into recovery. Alternatively u can open a terminal on your phone and type : "reboot recovery" . It will directly boot into recovery. If you are comfortable with adb , then type from your pc in the adb terminal " adb reboot recovery"..

Happy to see that you have solved your problem.
Just one request , while asking any question try to give your HBOOT and Radio version i.e the full details of your bootloader screen. This will help people to understand your problem better.
Happy androiding on sensation !!
Right 1st off I have been looking into this for a few weeks now and have searched but I just want to be sure before I do actually do anything and potentially damage my phone. Also I did used to flash custom rims on my desire so I'm not completely new to this but am by no means a pro at it.
I have s-off using revolutionary but that's as far as I've gone and I didn't install custom recovery due to wanting to install the official ics update which is what I'm running now.
1st question is are there any preferred recoveries? I know on my desire there were a few to choose from which could affect being able to install certain Roms and also are there any issues using recovery now that I've update to ics?
2nd how would I go about flashing it? I read about downloading it to root of sd and flashing from stock recovery.
3rd I've seen that I apparently don't need root as a custom Rom comes pre rooted?
4th will the whole flashin a Rom proceedure be the same as what I'm used to e.g. boot into recovery backup current rom, wipe when needs then flash Rom and reboot. Also I've read about a super wipe what is this?
I think ill he ok with all this but I love this phone and don't want to cause any damage to it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou

1. CWM or 4ext. Many prefer 4ext for the touch interface and additional options. You can download an updater for this from market, it will install it for you.
2. CWM Recovery can be flashed via the boot loader, it's exactly like updating the boot loader on your desire. You will also use this method to update your firmware - this is different to desire, it updates various parts including radio.
3&4 yes the same!

I would suggest 4EXT touch for recovery over ClockworkMod. There has been numerous reported cases in XDA threads with ROM installation issues using CWM. I myself have had issues with CWM and only recently changed to 4EXT recovery.

You can download 4EXT recovery in PG58IMG from Here
Rename it only PG58IMG and put on the root of your sd card.
Reboot to bootloader (volume down + power button), at prompt if you want to update, say yes by pushing volume up.
let do its things and when finished push power button to reboot.
Delete PG58IMG from sd card when done (or each time you reboot bootloader it will ask to update).
Once installed, flash this zip from 4EXT recovery.
Then download from the market superuser and busybox to get root.
Hope it helps. Hit thanks if it did

What is your model id?
you can dowload terminal emulator from market and give this command "getprop ro.mid" (without quotes). This will give your model id. Inside the PG58IMG that you downloaded ther is android-info file and there you can change the mid accordingly.
