My next device is deep unknown. Because I seek for something with 4" screen (best size of screen for me) and better performance (so 2-core or 4-core CPUs devices). Unfortunately, at this time there is only one device with this specifications: Iphone 4S (nevermind it´s actually 3,5" screen). But I don´t like Iphone for many reasons...
So the conclusion is, that I must stay with my HTC for another year. And wait for a proper descendent.

Current is Samsung Galaxy GIO from Virgin Mobile only because I got it for free and got a $100 gift card from Future Shop. lol
I'll definitely be interested in the new SGS 3. I'm happy with the quality of my Samsung device even though its a low range phone, so Samsung is in my good books.
HTC edge/supreme will be my next device as long as it hits telstra so i can have att! 3g bands
Currently, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on At&t (i777, non LTE), This is an amazing phone. Right now, running MIUI and overclocked to 1.6GHz, it blows everything else out of the water. The only things I don't like about it is the battery cover and screen resolution (800x480). The Galaxy S 2 should have had a qHD at least at launch, but if for some reason they would have had to make it something other than SAMOLED +, then forget it.
When its my time to upgrade, I basically want ^this phone^ with an awesome QWERTY! Unfortunately, no company is making an awesome and powerful slider anymore...
I am hoping to get the next gen of phones with quad core

Galaxy Note 2 because I won't go any smaller than 5.3"
I currently own a flipout for phone (just phone) and a galaxy player 5' for eveything else.
So I might as well get a Galaxy Note! Using wifi tethering is cool, but 3G directly on my 5' device would be appreciated lol.
So I'm not a noob to all this but I could use a little advice. I'm with AT&T and due for an upgrade. I currently have an Atrix 4G (which I love dearly and is rooted and unlocked running Neutrino) but I have no idea what I should upgrade to. Samsung seems to constantly get tremendous support from dev's so I'm kinda leaning towards the SGS2 Skyrocket but I'm not entirely sure. Any advice? Here's a couple devices I've been considering:
1. SGS2 Skyrocket
2. Sony Xperia Ion (pending release)
3. Samsung Galaxy Note
4. HTC something. I haven't paid enough attention to what they have to know which is the most supported device.
Any help would be great.
Current: Droid Razr
Possible phones just for all time sake:
Droid Razr Maxx(Just because of the battery upgrade)
....
Thats all I got so far lol....
I actual just collect the Droid Series from Moto
So far I got
OG Droid
Droid X & X2
Droid 2,3, waiting for 4(Finally with 4G)
I wont touch Droid Charge or INC(1 or 2)
Current: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100
Next?: SIII probably. Not sure if I really need to upgrade again.

Hi you guys,
I have a Samsung Captivate Glide (Bought it the first day it came out woot!)
Unfortunately, It's a very under developed device and I don't use the keyboard as much as I initially figured I would.
So I'm back in the market for a new android device. Preferably one with a strong developer community. ICS roms already running would be a big plus. I use the front camera a lot so thats a requirement.
Something with the best specs possible. I'm on AT&T so it'll need to be compatible with their network.
Thanks,
Kyle
P.S. My cappy glide is for sale on eBay if you're interested. http://bit.ly/zkiDqh
In the last Barcelona Mobile World Congress Alcatel presented a cheap but powerful device: Alcatel One Touch 995
For sure you cannot count on a strong support of developers, but they say it will be upgraded to ICS.

I think I'm going to get the HTC One X. I was reading about it the other day. Does anyone have an estimated release date?
I would wait for the release of the Galaxy S3 if you can hold on for that long, otherwise get a galaxy nexus i have one finding new roms all of the time and always pleanty of support from the dev community
Well I was looking for an advice , I don't have anyone else to ask so I come here , hope It's okay.
Anyways , I wanted to upgrade from my ds to a sensation xe or galaxy nexus but I was wondering if it is really worth it..
I love the community here , great devs and etc but a small bar on my screen isn't working and its almost impossible to use the phone :/
Now o have few options , either to upgrade either to fix my phone. I like the fact that we are getting ICS..
Any opinions?

Both those are already old devices. Best look at a HTC One S if you can live with the 16gb internal memory, or the HTC One X if you want the flagship for 2012.

Agree with above comments regarding upgrade.
I'd say fix (especially if it could be done cheaply or even better under warranty) and then consider replacing in six months

i second wnp_79 advice, the HTC One X with its quad-core processor and 1.5gb ram is the one too look out for.
i think the next best thing for you would be the Nexus or could you wait for the Samung Galaxy s3.
All these new phones coming out, its an exciting time for the Android platform!!!
At $400-$500 the One X is obviously out of his budget. I'm not entirely sure about the One S though.

Damn I want to have this option badly , I would do it ASAP , just me though.
Do you mind sharing how you'll do this? Locally or here on xda?
Sent from Hogwarts using the owl.
Several things:
1) There's not enough upgrade in Sensation to justify the money. I played with one (or actually, worked on one - loaded it with ROM and tested, for a friend). Unless all you need is a big screen - Desire S does just about everything, and feels more or less the same.
2) Personally, after a year with Nexus One and plain Android, I wouldn't ever touch "developer phone" again. Wrote it some times before: plain Android sucks badly IMHO, and Sense / TouchWiz have a good reason to exist. You can look at my message history, I noted all the points in which Sense is head and shoulders above AOSP/CM/MIUI. While ALL phones that have overlays can run AOSP/CM/MIUI properly, "developer phones" can't run overlays. So, why limit yourself?
And additional point - user base counts. Galaxy Nexus isn't going to be nearly as popular as the leading "non-developer" devices. And community support lies with popular devices. If you want proof - look at the forums of original Desire, and Desire HD, and compare them with Nexus One forum.
So if you're considering, consider Galaxy S2 or Galaxy S2 HD (the HD version, which is as big as Galaxy Nexus, and with HD screen).
3) Wrote it many times before - HTC One S is actually going to be better than HTC One X, unless they intentionally degrade it to make it worse. The dual-core CPU of One S is much more powerful and less power-hungry than One X's quad-core, and it will be accented even more by lower resolution (so its GPU will be way ahead of One X) and lack of optimization in Android for quad-core usage (which won't allow One X's CPU to even try to match the already-outperforming One S).
A point to consider - AT&T's Galaxy S2 is selling today $100 below its generic equivalent, and AT&T's going to get One X with the same CPU as One S. If it's also going to be priced lower - it might be THE phone worth buying. But it'll most likely happen 1/2 year from now, since when the new models go out - there'll be a huge buzz and the prices will be quite high, out of budget on this thread.
And the upcoming Galaxy S3 can also be a good contender, even though its price will most likely be out of budget too.
So seeing all that, I can suggest - if you have a cheap way of fixing your DS, do it. The "low-cost" One V is not going to up the bar in any way, and Desire S will be relevant for quite some time, probably at least for another year.
What do you mean by "developer phone"?
"Developer phone" = the phone of Nexus branding (Nexus One / Nexus S / Galaxy Nexus / something else in the future that will carry "Nexus" in its name). They're made to run pure Android, and are OTA-updated directly from Google, ahead of other phones.
Do what you're saying is that I should stay with the desire s a bit of more time?
I like sense , especially the 4 lite version but I have no problem with the stock android.

If it's not a problem, and you can fix its screen problem cheaply - yes, I think it'll be better. Unless you really want to spend money - in this case, all the One X/S talk is irrelevant, and your options are Sensation or AT&T Galaxy S2 - pick whichever you like.

Buggy like hell, at least the Sense. It's like saying HD2 has every possible ROM ported to it - true, and they were all in semi-functional state since Froyo - so they're worthless. Much like the current ICS ports all around the MSM8x55-based device forums, which are useful only for people that don't use half of their phones' capabilities. But with a small difference - those devices, at least DHD and DS, will get a fully functional ICS, because it'll be officially released for them, while Nexus devices will most likely never get a stable ROM, if I can judge by what happened until now.

Well i put up my Desire S for sale for 270JDs (about 300$?) and someone offered to exchange mine for his for 80$, not a bad thing i'd say, and i've already had it with this phone =.= (not the desire S itself, just the one i have), so i guess it'll be allright, i just need to find the money now hahaha
i'd like a bigger screen, bigger battery, and i'm a sucker for black/red, also them beats headphones ;D;
although the battery drain will go with the hardware, i think it'll be a bit better than my DS
i think galaxy nexus is a good choice

Can't go wrong with either. Favorite brands are HTC and Samsung.
I like HTC because it has a lot of support with devs. I like Samsung because of the unlocked bootloader stock... aka Download Mode.
Smart Phones I've Owned:
HTC Surround - Windows Phone 7
Motorola Droid X2 - Android (hated this phone)
HTC Incredible 2 - Android
HTC Evo Shift - Android
HTC Evo 3D - Android
HTC Titan - Windows Phone
Motrola Atrix 4G - Android (it was okay)
Samsung Charge - Android (this was my worst experience with Samsung.. still own it)
Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket - Android (owned now and most used. Best phone out of all of them that I have had)
Btw I owned all of these in a course of one year. I sell cell phones for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.. so yeah I have a lot of experience with them.

Hi all,
Me and my gf are looking to get a new mobile phone/smart-phone some time soon. We've been using an iPhone 3GS for about two years now and think its time to upgrade.
I told her that I think Android Phones are better than Apple phones and we've been looking around.
So far we've had a look at (I dont know the EXACT names...im not good with phones):
HTC One X
Samsung Galaxy S2
Google Galaxy Nexus
iuno much about other phones so far..should we wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the iPhone 5?
I will be using it mostly for music\watching converted videos\occasional games with the occasional calling and texting, and she will be doing pretty much the same, with a bit more calling and texting. What do you guys suggest?
Thanks all.

or if you want a device without the Manufacturer Skins go for a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, you'll be the first to get updates from Google.
Galaxy S2.. or better yet, just wait for the S3...
One X has the better specs among the phone you mentioned but the only thing that keeps me from choosing it is the fact that its not using Super Amoled screen.
I dunno, but I tend to shy back on phones not running Super Amoled screens anymore.. Sammy is pretty much on the bandwagon on hooking me up on their Super Amoled screens that my eyes are keenly fond or fixated by it already
anything not Super Amoled (for me) is not so much anymore nice to look at....
Just me though
I would choose the HTC One X.

Take a look at the Asus Padfone. Same core as the One X, but transformerable into a tablet and notebook form. It's set to be released this month with the LTE version coming Q3.
I would wait until the officially announce the Galaxy s3 because it is supposed to be incredible, but if it is not you could just go buy your next best choice!
I would wait for the specs from the new galaxy too. But, like the others, if you could not wait, id go with the one x.
The Nexus is a pure ICS Phone. Would be my favorite.
HTC uses the Sense UI, the One X Sense 4 which might be quite good looking and has some special apps on top. But: Right at the moment I'm using a HTC Desire with a ICS Custom ROM (before I always used a ROM with Sense) and i thought a could not life without Sense UI, but ICS is nearly perfekt.
I read somewhere that google wants to release Android 5.0 in August 2012. That another point why i would buy the google phone - the nexus will be the first to get the update.

htc one X
HTC One X or my favorit the Sony Xperia S
Hi all I currently have a HTC Sensation but due an upgrade in 3 days time. I have always had HTC smartphones but all this hype about the samsung galaxy 3 is making my decision to upgrade difficult. I had a play with a HTC One X and it is truly a nice phone and I do like the Sense 4.0 interface. However all the hype for galaxy s3 (based on rumored spec) appears to give the impression that it will be the daddy of all smart phones, but I do currently own a galaxy tab 10.1 and im not amazed by the TouchWizz UI, but more information online suggests a new singing all dancing revamped touch wizz interface.
What I want in a phone is nice smooth lag free interface, a decent quick snapping camera and video recorder, decent contacts feature oh and the obvious features of course.
Do I upgrade to the one x tomorrow? or hang on and wait for at least the announced specifications of the galaxy s3?
You will get different answers depending on which forum you post in.
Gs3 not out yet though, so if you not sure prob best to wait.
Me personally, I like sense and HTC build quality, which is why I have one x

Sammy knows what HTC's offering well in advance to ensure that the SGS3 willbe better. That the problem with being first to market, its not the best it can be (A9 based cuad core for example instead of A15) so its easy to one-up.
Im predicting a cuad core A15 based Exynos chip with updated Mali GPU and non pentile 720p super amoled plus HD screen...
As much as I love HTC and would rather buy their phones, they cant keep the all-around-best status Samsung has with their SGS series. I mean It has been almost a year and there is no phone that has put the SGS2 to shame yet

The S3 might have negligibly better hardware specs but you can be certain they'll still cheap out on the materials. Apple is proof that specs don't mean everything. The overall package is what matters at the end of the day.
It says volumes about Samsung's phones when their flagship Galaxy S series of phone uses the exact same quality of plastic as the €39 Galaxy Europa.
I suggest getting the OneX now. Atleast you'll have a high end phone right away and currently it is the best available phone (except in the camera dept). You should consider the OneS too, it can best the 4-PLUS-1 chip in the OneX in some benchmarks.
THEN after playing around with your phone for around 2-4 months the SGS3 will be available. Have a look at the specs and anything you might want to look at. If you want it then sell your phone and get an SGS3. If you don't want it then keep your Onex.
*That's what I'd do if I were you but I'd be getting the Xperia S for the Pic and Vid quality Different folks different strokes
I would go for HTC One X with better build quality and display !!!
