G2x battery question mark - T-Mobile LG G2x

From the moment I flashed clockworkmod on my g2x I have had a bizarre battery issue, my battery shows a question mark despite my best efforts. Stock even before i flashed a new rom, Cm7 (7.1.0.1 and latest nightly) and Miui with Trinity all give me this issue. It starts working fine and displaying battery charge until a reboot. I've tried the typical troubleshooting with a battery - calibration, wipe stats - to no avail. Help please?

This has happened to me when switching from my OEM battery to my generic ones. I always just plug my charger in for a couple minutes then unplug it.

Unfortunately doesnt seem to help, thank you though

What fixed for me is:
Put it in airplane mode Than turn off airplane mode again.

Wow! Thank you! So much frustration and such a quick fix!

So, which one fixed it? lol

Putting it into airplane mode, thanks again

I was having the same issue with my battery meter sticking. The same time this happens, my Setcpu app also was sticking and would full throttle the cpu. Im running the VirusRom right now, but have experienced this problem on a few of the other Roms also. My usual fix was just wipe everything and go with new install. It started happening again last night and I followed some posters advice to let the battery totally drain and then shutoff. I then recharged to full and everything seems to be fine again.
The first time it ever started happening was right after I had wiped the battery cache and rebooted. Ive stopped doing that now, but it still happens. I notice now that I usuallly experience this after a series of reboots. Not sure whats up, but draining the battery to zero helped out last night. We'll see in a day or two if it starts happening again.

Im actually done with ROMs until CM7 is ready. Im just going with a base rooted system and Ill use a custom kernel. Kernel is 99% of the improvement anyway.
Draining works for a day or so, then it does the same thing. I'm stock and it does it. It also does it with the stock battery. Hope they get it fixed with an update.

Mine actually just stopped working... was working for a week or so and today its just stuck on the same number until i reboot. Pretty annoying.
Bump - anyone find a solution to this? I tried running my extended battery to 0% last night and fully charging it... guess ill see if its fixed today. Pulling it off the charger, it already dropped to 95% lol...

That's because of how it charges not foot into details but that will always happen up to a 10% drop.

Right but my problem was/is the meter never changing. I think I fixed it by completely draining the battery and charging to full. Maybe the phone didnt know how much juice it had because of the different size battery.
yeah i changed to the stock battery last night and it would read fine but i really need this extended

Problems with the battery

Hello all,
I have been having a situation with my phone where while I am using the phone and the battery reaches about 80 - 75% the phone just dies without even shutting down, and when I turn it back on the battery is at something like 1%. Even more strangely, if I turn it off and wait for like an hour then reboot, it is back at 80%. I have calibrated the battery, so I am sure it is not a calibration issue. Also, this has been happening on every rom that I use. I had a Vibrant but traded with my father but I have the battery from the Vibrant even though they are the same.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I have discovered this is due to the battery itself and not a calibration error. I am using a new one now with no problems. Thank you very much for the suggestions though.
Gingerbread or Froyo?

You need to calibrate your battery. download the battery calibration app by nema from the market. Charge your phone to as close to 4200mv as you can. Calibrate in the app. unplug phone immediately. Let it die completely. Charge it back up with no break

Screen freeze on wake

I recently flashed weapon g2x rom. Everything was cool til I woke my phone and tried unlocking it but the screen was unresponsive. I do a battery pull phone starts up up and screen is fine. Screen goes to sleep so I wake it up and try sliding to unlock but its unresponsive. Please help. BTW I am not putting any blame on weapon rom Dev team.

Did you properly wipe before you flashed the ROM? Is this happening on a clean install? (No apps)?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Followed the install instructions verbatim. BTW I was stock GB before flashing. Happened before I dloaded any apps. Now it freezes when making calls. When I take the phone away from mg ear the screen is unresponsive.

You might have a defective device. Does it tend to get hot whenever it locks up? How long have you had this issue for?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Flashed the rom 3 days ago and issue started today. Had this phone for 3 months. Doesn't get hot or even noticeably warm. I got the go locker app with ics lockscreen. After i wake it up its unresponsive for about 30 seconds then the backlight dims and becomes responsive again. Weird. Maybe restore back to froyo(nandroid)? Thanks for your replies.

Hey this may sound silly but if it's only the lockscreen not responding and you stating you are using the ics lockscreen, did you try with the default lockscreen to rule that out first?

Not silly at all. I tried the original lockscreen that came with weapon rom. I would wake the phone with no response but with go locker LS the screen responds after 30 seconds of unresponsiveness. Its weird but I don't think its a hardware issue. I'll post back after I restore back to Froyo. Thanks again guys
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yeah i agree, don't think it's a hardware issue. Restoring back or trying another rom would be a good test. Another question..are you using setcpu or any other app with a screen off profile?
Edit: Went back to read all the symptoms again and i had a similar situation and it was because my phone could not handle the lower voltages on the min freq with a few kernels. Morfic upped the lower freq voltage on his kernel and it has been working perfectly since. Worth a try.
Try this one: ELPmax 20122011 (1.1GHz Battery Saver w/ voodoo sound)
Tried flashing kernel and phone froze on Trinity load screen. Restored to nandroid but no luck. Updated to stock GB but no luck. I'm starting to think might be a problem with proximity/ light sensor cause of how the phone freezes up after I pull the phone away from my face after a call. Guess I'll send it to Texas for warranty repair.
Thanks to those that tried helping.

Did you format the "system" before flashing the new rom? Weapon works with no issues for me. I would stay away from custom kernels for now, until you have isolated the issue.
I would suggest backing up your user apps using titanium backup and installing them one by one to find the issue. Let the phone run a while between installing each app. Maybe even reboot each time. Also try fix permissions.
I know nothing about Go Locker, but is sounds like that is a good place to start.

Phone randomly shuts off

So I am rooted and unlocked. My phone randomly shuts off, and I can only restart it if I plug it in or pull battery. Once I plug it in the battery reads empty, then it refreshes and shows correct battery charge. Any ideas? I've tried different roms and nothing changes.

If your using a nightly, try flashing the 4/15 nightly. There was an issue with some roms random rebooting and force closing of some apps.
Also, if you flashed a kernel, just run the stock on first.

Moonraker issue.

So I tried the Moonraker Rom yesterday, was awesome IMO. I just had one issue, when I would reboot my phone it would register my battery as dead and shut off before reaching the UI. But if I plugged it in, turned it on, then unplugged it it would read the correct percentage and stay that way until reboot. Is there a fix for this floating around? Kinda reminds me of the depressing "iOS x.x.xx tethered jb" days lol. Thanks in advance

Yes, no, maybe so? I'm currently using "dr no v3.0" and its great. Smooth, reliable, fast. But I would really like to experiment with the moonraker rom, just don't want to deal with the battery issue, am I the only one having it?

Pretty sure it was a log issue. I cleared battery logs with a recalibrator and it didn't happen anymore.
