[Q] HTC Incredible - Skype / Proximity Sensor / Wifi bug - General Questions and Answers

Greetings all,
I have the HTC Droid Incredible, runing Android 2.3.4, Kernel 2.6.35.13.
I would like to use Skype with wifi, but have discovered a bug. When I make a skype call, all works well on speakerphone. However, as soon as I put the phone to my ear, the proximity sensor turns the screen off, and slows down wifi considerably. This results in my skype call being ended.
I would like to fix this by setting my phone to keep wifi on like normal, even when the proximity sensor turns the screen off. I found this thread, which sounds like what I need, but there doesn't seem to be a download for my kernel version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752856
Can someone explain to me the steps I would need to take to fix this issue?
Thank you!

Hey, just noticed your PM. Are you using SetCPU with a screen off cpu profile?
If not then it probably is the same problem as in that old thread of mine for the desire. Since the incredible uses the same bcm4329 wifi driver, the patch should work on it. It might already be implemented in a custom kernel on the forums, that'd be worth looking into.
Otherwise i can compile one for the incredible no problem, just go into About Phone and post your kernel version. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my Incredible. Skype works fine on 3G but not on Wifi. Call quality is poor with delays. Can you compile a driver as you mentioned in your previous post?
Running 2.3.4
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.13-g03546aa
Thanks.

Hi everone, I´m happy today after been able to flash my Magic to Android 2.3

If you could compile that, I would be very grateful! Thank you.

Dutty's Rom Version 1.65.16.25 Help

Thanks to the sire today for not reading my thread, im new to this so I would appreciate some help with this post, i have looked through the forums but cant find anything to guide me straight, so il ask again for some kind assistance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have recently after hours of reading installed the above rom to my phone, and i like the speed of it and the design thanks Dutty.
I am new to this area and was very hesitant to try the non original roms in case i bricked my phone but I seem to have done ok, I have a few slight issues with this rom and would ask the experience of the forum members for help please understand im nieve to this rom updating.
When I start my phone i have the following rom version,
R 1.65.16.25
G 25.83.40.02W
D 3.5 Dutty's
In device info is -
Build is showing as 5.2.19588 WM6.1
Radio is 1.65.16.25
Protocol Version - 25.83.40.02W
Firstly is this the right setup?
2. Is there a faster or better rom available (Dutty's) that would be more compatible with the tytn 2?
3. Is the radio compatible with this version if not how do I change it please and to which version?
I seem to be having some minor glitches with the setup which i will go through and see if there are any fixes.
a. under comm manager I dont have the option to turn on data connection its greyed out!
b. it tries to download emails but tells me to adjust setting although i know the email ones are 100% right, this may be because of the data connection issue how do i fix?
c. There is no HSDPA tab anymore on connections
d. When i open the start menu from today screen it shows as black or fuzzy and not the list of programs and apps until i touch it with stylus pen?
e phone reception seems to be worse can this be fixed.
f. screen freezes sometimes aswell.
if anyone can assist me with these issues i would be grateful. thanks Wayne.
2.
reason nobody has answered is because every question u ask has been answered. stop being lazy and read or the mods will give u a kick in the arse.
p.s. ofcourse radio is compatible thats why u can make calls. AND don't double post again.

Strange Ringtone Volume Issue (ontop of known delay issue)

When my Verizon TP rings, the volume on the playing ringtones is loud for a second, and then quiet for a second, and then loud, then quiet.....*repeat.....
This is ontop of the already know ringtone delay issue. The delay issue is annoying, but not as annoying and the volume dropping and then coming back over and over while its ringing.
Anyone else dealing with this? Fix? please...

goto settings/phone/voicecommand & check the phone settings and see if you have announce incoming calls checked....if you do, turn it off. If that doesn't work, I don't know....
Well, thanks Chris. That sure did it. I love it when I can get a quick fix in one short blurb..
Although, i have another related Issue. I have voice command v1.6.19972 and it doesn't work for announcing calls. So, disabling it fixed the issue and i haven't lost anything because it never worked anyway. But how do i get it to work? do i need another version of voice command? and if i do get it working and turn on announcing, will the original issue come back?
Cheers

I think NATF's Latest rom and the one he is supposed to release this weekend (3.0)? fixes the VC issue. The fixed version has to be cooked into the rom I believe. I'm using an older NATF rom and mine doesn't work either. I'm probably gonna upgrade this week to his 3.0 version.. Good luck in the mean time....

[Q] Interesting problem with HTC sensation

Ok, I'm a noob and I'm sorry - I tried to search but couldn't find anything relevant.
This morning when I came to check my phone after charging it all night I noticed something weird with my sensation, the top of the screen is at the bottom of the screen and the touch screen is also out line. (its hard to explain the problem)
I have attached a picture which will hopefully make some sense.

You didn't say what kind of ROM you're running? Is it custom or official OTA?
If the ROM is custom I would ask the question in Dev thread, you might get more support there. Or someone might of experience the same issue and have a fix already.
Pretty sure it's the rom, which one are you using?
Yeah ics on sensation has to be custom. Totally sounds like an os issue. Try backing up User apps/data, wiping and reinstalling. If it is an os issue definitely someone on the ROM thread has addressed it.

Extreme battery drain issue with Bluetooth

Hello,
I've had by Z5 since late 2015 and it's been a real trooper. Sadly it has recently (in the last few days) developed an issue where Bluetooth appears to be draining battery like crazy. I've dug around a bit on the internet and found a few people experiencing the problem but none too recently. One post suggested turning on the 'Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log' and toggling Bluetooth on and off, then checking the log. When I turn that setting on, it creates the 'btsnoop_hci.log' which very rapidly starts filling with junk. In the space of about 20 seconds it took for me to toggle BT on and off and take a copy of the log, it had grown to 700 KB.
Below are some screenshots showing the battery usage of Bluetooth. I have a copy of my btsnoop_hci.log file too but I couldn't find a way to attach it to this thread. If there's some way I can share this, please let me know. If anyone can help me troubleshoot this issue, I would be most grateful. As far as usage / changes that might have cause this problem, I can't think of anything too crazy but here are some points:
I paired my phone with a pair of Taotronics BH22 headphones last week but have since forced my Bluetooth to "forget" this device.
I use my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones pretty much every day to listen to music since March 2019.
I don't use my phone for anything other than messaging, and music. The apps I have installed do automatic updates sometimes -- I was actually suspecting that an automatic update that went on for one of my apps might be the culprit, but I have no idea how to check this.

I think I've figured out what was causing the problem. It was an update to 'Google Play Services'. The version that recently went on was 16.0.91
I installed the beta version (specifically, 17.1.22 (040400-245988633) beta (040400)) and since then, Bluetooth is behaving.

Washed out colours when playing video in stock osprey rom

Hi I am new to XDA! I have a issue with stock Moto G3 ROM that gives washed out colour when playing video with hardware acceleration. This problem does not happen on other custom Roms like cm 12.1,miui 8. I am not sure that is this problem new or was always there in stock Moto ROM. I also ran logcat in floating window for a while when playing any video and at the same time colour changed logcat showed events that I attached to my thread are two screenshots. UI mode brings back display to normal colours but MV mode brings display to washed out colours. I can switch to cyanogenmod 12.1 if I wanted but I want this to be fixed. It's a shame for near stock Android phones like Motorola,Nokia. Don't say me to update or downgrade software because I have tried both things with stock ROM. I tried 5.1.1,6.0 and 6.0.1 as well. I am sure that it's not related to hardware because this only exists in stock ROM. This issue is popular on internet but no one solved it not even Google developers because they had no proofs or detected logs but I have two logs ui mode brings normal and MV mode is washed out and this problem does not exist in software acceleration but software acceleration is not for my use because it's poor and makes my low device hang. This doesn't happen in games, it only happens in videos. Please carefully look at my screenshots attached. Hope that helps! If you want any other proof or you have any questions about this issue you can openly tell me and I will immediately reply the answer because I will have to give some help to fix this issue. But when you post your answer just firstly tell me the meaning of MV mode. I understand user interface is ui mode but what is MV mode. So when someone posts just tell the fix and MV full form. Thanks XDA for helping me in many Android failures. But now I have started posting to give and get support.
