[Q] Troubles after updating firmware - HTC Sensation

Hi all,
I decided to install the InsertCoin 4.4.0 Custom ROM, apparently I needed to update my firmware with a link provided. While in the Revolutionary Bootloader I instantly got a message asking wether I wanted to update (I assumed that was the firmware). The update apparently went OK and I got a message 'Press <POWER> to reboot.
However, when pressing the Power button the device reboots, but after the Quietly Brilliant screen the device constantly reboots again, resulting in a loop. When going in to the Revolutionary Bootloader I get the same update message.
So, updates seem to go okay, but I can't get my device started again. Hopefully this is fixable, but unfortunately I'm still not that familiar with software like this.
Thanks in advance!

I am having the same issue after updating firmware..help guys!

By removing the SD Card, Booting into Recovery I can get in the recovery menu. Then by putting the SD card back in and mounting it I can restore the device using the backup I created just before I updated. But that apparently doesn't solve the problem, it still crashes after the Quietly Brilliant screen.

download new 4.4.0 and flash

Apparently I need to install the firmware update first. I'm not sure if installing 4.4.0 is a smart idea now that it seems the firmware update failed.

Ok i found the fix..just remove the firmware file from the SD card by deleting and install the new ROM thru recovery...but first do a super wipe..and then install the new ICS rom..that will fix everything. Given you didnt restore ur device..do this after updating the firmware..

Thanks. I managed to fix it and have installed IC 4.4.0. Didn't install the firmware update though, but it seems to work fine. Apart from the fact that all data on my SD card is not recognized. But that's not really related to this topic anymore.

Download the 3.24 firmware, place it on the root of your SD card, boot into bootloader and update. After update has finished, press power to reboot, do a battery pull, put the SD card into your computer and delete the PMG15 zip, put the SD card back in your phone, boot into bootloader, select recovery, flash ROM, enjoy.

Thanks, but I don't have a PMG15 file on the SD card after installing the Firmware. I ran Super Wipe, rebooted in Bootloader, let the installer install the PG58IMG file (after checking the MD5 sums). Basically did exactly as you said, but I can't find a PMG15 zipfile to delete.
I don't even care anymore if I manage to get IC 4.4.0 installed (also tried, ARHD 6.1.0, doesn't work either), I just want my phone to work again.
EDIT: Regarding the firmware, I'm not sure what CID I have, I haven't installed SuperCID yet, and I can't install it now because I can't boot up the device, which is necessary to get SuperCID.

It's not PMG15, its PG58IMG....sorry I couldn't remember the exact name....but you should get what I'm saying right?

Ah, yes. Well I did figure that out earlier, because if I keep the file it simply keeps updating in Bootloader. But it still doesn't get past the HTC splash screen when I try to start it up after installing a custom ROM. InsertCoin 4.4.0 shuts down right after 'Quietly Brilliant', ARHD 6.1.0 keeps rebooting at the plain HTC screen.
Thanks for the help so far, still giving me headaches though
EDIT: ARHD 6.1.0 now manages to get past the Quietly Brilliant screen and reboots as soon as the Beats logo flies in. It's progress, but it's still constantly crashing.

SNS wont update

Hey fellows.
So I wanted to try a custom ROM for my SNS, so I rooted it with this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwe4sWH67dk
And since I'm completly green in all this root thing, I didnt manage to get a custom ROM on my device. So I just stayed with stock android and a launcher, and to be fair, I dont need any more than that.
Then the 2.3.6 OTA update came and I wanted to install that, so I hit "Install" and my phone rebooted. Come to the Google logo with the padlock on the button... and frooze (have to remove battery to restart my phone). Nothing I have done can help it, I tryed factory reset, nothing (get stuck on the same screen again)!
So I looked around the SNS topics in here, and frankly, I can't fix it! I read that locking the bootloader would probably help it. So I installed drivers for my device on my computer, and tryed to use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875630 since it seemed fairly easy. But I cant make it work.
My phone version number is GRJ22 and my phone lock state is unlocked.
WHAT DO I DO? Remember, I'm completly green, so cut it into small pieces would be nice!
Hope that there is some helpfull sole out there that can help

I had a similar issue some time ago and I think I can help you. In my case, I had removed some system apps. I removed books and talk, and it couldn't update because the recovery didn't find these apps to update them. Also, if you don't have the stock recovery, but clockwork instead I think it will not work. You can find in the General section of this Nexus S forum links with the official updates zips. Download one of these and then flash it in recovery(stock or clockwork). Copy the zip to the USB storage and in recovery select 'flash update from usb storage' and select the downloaded zip. Personally, I downloaded the GRJ22 and flashed it, so I can have a clean and upgradeable GRJ22. Then I updated using the incorporated update tool from google OTA to GRK39F. It is better to do a factory reset before you flash the zip with the rom. Sorry for the messy explanation hope this helps. GL
Hmm, I downloaded the GRJ22 fitting me device from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664, placed it on the SDcard and tryed to go to recovery in fastboot, then the same thing happend again :/ (If that was what you meant)
I installed ClockworkMod Recovery through ROM Manager, then I installed the downloaded file on my device. Now I'm running 2.3.6 :O Thanks for the help dude!

[Q] HTC Sensation ICS Update Failed

Dear xda,
I have HTC Sensation unbranded, unrooted with software Android 2.3.4 having software version 1.50.707.2.(Pakistan/Asia)
I just downloaded the ICS 4.0 update with HTC Sense 3.6 having System upgrade version 3.32.707.10(304.85 MB).
Right after downloading I selected to install the update....Phone booted....started the upgrade process( i guess extracting) and within 20 seconds i had red coloured rectangle.... I pressed the Volume Up+Power Button to get into Android Recovery and tried installing the update from SD card.... It failed as well giving the (Status 7)... and nothing else.... I rebooted the phone and now the Update file has gone.....Right now downloading the update file again...
Any ideas what could have been the problem?
Open for suggestion.
Regards!
I followed this thread,
downloaded latest march 25th link for my XE and it worked flawlessly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542192
Hope that helps you too.
You need to be S-OFF if you want to manually flash an OTA file, but it should work fine OTA if you're 100% stock (this means you HAVE to have the stock recovery - if you have CWM it will not work)
Out of interest, what is the OTA file name?
Dear EddyOS,
I received the following OTA.
OTA_PYRAMID_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.32.707.10_R-1.50.707.1_release_251591ls4g359w5atckzzw.zip
Last time I installed OTA 1.50.707.1 which removed all the data on the phone. I have not installed CWR as i was waiting for ICS update.
I read somewhere on xda that someone format the SD card and then placed the update file back.. and i got installed. I see no reason to do such.
My last action would be to wipe clean the SD card as well as factory reset the phone to get started from zer0.
here is the installation message i see when i press the Volume Up +Power button, once stuck at red triangle icon.

Talked to HTC Support via Web Chat.... They suggested to Format the SD card with Fat32 and try to install.. did so and no new result.
Other option suggested by HTC Help is to factory rest... which i did... downloading the OTA ICS update in process right now.
I'll update with new findings.

The reason it's failing is it checks that all apks that were part of the RUU are 'stock' ie havent been modified. It looks like your Maps.apk has been altered in some way.
I had flashed a new battery icon when I first got the phone and when I came to update it failed as SystemUI.apk, Framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk had all been modified. Took a week of head scratching and late nights to get over this problem. I eventually extracted the stock files from a clean install, restored via cwm, replaced the offending files using Root Explorer and then ran the OTA update. It was the only way to keep my data as the OTA changes the hboot and removes root. Im now waiting for Revolutionary to update so I can have nandroid backup again.
As above, sounds like you've edited/changed the Maps package
Damn it... formatting SD and resetting to factory default didn't help either... still the same problem... same error message Status 7.
Now i am clueless what to do next
Mr_Erratic could you guide me through for the process you adopted..

same thing..
I ve same problem please help me..
I have got the same problem here. Difference is that I have rooted my HTC Sensation. I do have the stock rom though.
Yesterday my phone told me that there was an update available (android 4.0). So I downloaded this update, but it won't install. I get the android with the exclamation mark.
I do not know much about this kind of stuf, and neither do I know what information is relevant. What other information should I post?

My sensation is rooted too...hw can i solve the problem....please help...

hey Stabbler, you can check if it is Maps.apk which is failing the pact at the first place.
when you see the red triangle, press volume up+power button... see the installation log...
i guess that there is something wrong with the FOTA..
I down graded my HTC Sensation with software version 1.35.707.1 by wiping clean the sd card and phone(Rest Factory Data)
upgraded it to 1.45.707.1
The upgraded to 1.50.707.1
Neither i rooted my phone nor i install any apps from Market(didn't register the phone with gmail id)
downloaded the ICS update from scratch... and got the same annoying error "Status 7" caused by failure of Maps.apk
I've done everything by the book..... no help whatsoever.
Waiting helplessly

simplest way to un-root your device is to Factory Data Reset
Alternatively, you can try Android Recovery Manager to download your Stock ROM and flash... it is quiet simple as well... But you'll have to download all the updates to date afterwards.

Another bootloop issue

I have an HTC One S, rooted and unlocked. I downloaded CM10, attempted to update to it, yes without wiping(my fail) and sent the phone into a bootloop. In my attempts to fix I lost the ability mount the SDCard.
I did this to fix the SDCard and it worked - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459&page=12
I have tried to do the RUU update to bring it back to stock but it failed with error 171, USB Connectivity lost so I abandoned that idea. I did play with drivers, HTC Sync, reinstalls and registry cleanups all to no avail. This is the process I wanted to follow but no luck.....http://www.htconeforum.com/forum/ht...e-your-htc-one-s-back-100-stock-relocked.html
When updating with CM10 it installed VERY quick, like 20ish seconds. This seemed very fast so I thought maybe a different ROM would work and I went with Dark Jelly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848100
No matter what I do I am stuck in the bootloop. Looking for any guidance available of things to try. I have searched all over and tried the solutions that make sense but to no avail.
Fixed
So I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33857020&postcount=2181
delete that file and it booted right up. Have not looked at the Dark Jelly rom to see fi it has that file too but that may have been the issue with the other ROM as well.
Summary - CM10 contains that file that needs to be deleted before upgrading if you have hboot of low versions...I know, not very descriptive but its all in my posts above.
nvm, you got it.

HTC One SV for Boost missing camera

Hello. I decided to start a new thread. I have a Moonshine s-off phone. Recently I reset the phone put stock recovery on it and ran the newest RUU. It worked I got the new software[emoji3] . Then I unlocked the phone using the HTCDev method and my old unlock key, everything worked, when I went into BOOTLOADER phone said TAMPERED UNLOCKED S-OFF.
The only thing missing is my camera. Sometimes it turns on, but very rarely ( maybe 1/200 tries ). It tells me Unable To Start The Camera.
I think it's a software glitch, as with previous version of Android I had no issues. Also with the new OS the flash is BUSY sometimes. When I want to use a flashlight phone tells me PHONE SCREEN WILL BE USED FOR ILLUMINATION SINCE THE FLASH IS IN USE BY OTHER APP. There is no other app running...
I tried flashing TWRP but fastboot just hangs, I left it on for 3 hours and it never finished. I tried using the SD IMG method. It goes thru, tells me to reboot. When I do I'm on the same stock recovery...
I have backups of my phone. But they are all done with TWRP and I can't install it. I tried CWM as well, same result, timeout.
I might try running a lower version RUU and see if that fixes all...

[Q] Phone (Evita) stuck in Clockwork Mod Recovery

Hi guys, my first post on here so hopefully this is in the correct forum!
Okay, so I've decided to flash a custom ROM (candy5 version 1.5.1) on to my HTC One XL (code name: Evita)
Being new to this, I had to unlock Bootloader on my phone and flash Clockwork Mod. I followed some steps on YouTube and everything was working perfectly up to this point. (One thing that might've been wrong now that I look back was that my Bootloader had ***TAMPERED*** on top of ***UNLOCKED***)
Not knowing that that might have been a problem, I went ahead and installed Candy5 version 1.5.1 (an unofficial build of Cyanogenmod 12) and Google Apps 5.x.x onto my phone. This was when the problems arose with both of them having "installation aborted" messages.
I decided to go on regardless and flashed boot.img from my PC using Command Prompt. It came up with two "OKAY" messages so I thought everything was alright. So then I rebooted my phone, and surprise surprise, it didn't work.
So I decided to do a bit of detective work and because I am a noob at this stuff, I clicked on Factory Reset on Bootloader and I wiped my whole phone.
That deleted my backup on Recovery and I now cannot access any files on my SD card as it comes up with the message "E: can't mount /SD card." I also cannot access my phone to make any phone calls etc. as I only have access Bootloader and Recovery and I cannot connect my phone to my PC.
So as you can see, I am in a bit of strife here and I now have a very expensive paperweight...
Any advice to, first of all, make my phone usable would be much appreciated. Furthermore, any information to make my phone run Andoid Lollipop 5.0.2 using a custom ROM would be awesome too!
Thanks in advance for all your replies!
