I hear that they are not interchangeable because of the basebands is it possible to just replace the baseband with a p999 baseband?

dont quote me on this but if they are CM based, you can switch kernels and the ril but the partitions are different and certain features will not work? that is what problems i am having with the MIUI build but working on it...

They both are the same only optimus v is virgin mobile branded (v stands for virgin)
Does that means we can use the ROM for the Optimus V on the Optimus V section? O:
You might be able to, but if it works you won't have cell service. The optimus V is a cdma device, so those roms are set up to be used on its specific baseband, which our phone doesn't have.
