Hi,
Need some help here with my HTC Sensation
Was initially running Insertcoin ROM 3.4.2. As Insertcoin ICS Rom have worked up till 4.4.0, I've decided to give it a try and flashed 4.4.0 on it, along with the new firmware that is listed on Insertcoin website.
Afterwhich, when I tried to revert back to 3.4.2, it went into bootloop. I have tried both by flashing the 3.4.2 rom and by recovery through clockworkmod. Both methods result in bootloop.
Please advice on this matter.

You must flash the old firmware if you want to go back to an older rom.
In every Thread it is writen that the new firmware only works for the new rom the older roms need the old firmware to boot.

You can flash a RUU of related cid or if you have supercid. This will restore your firmware too. After that you need to flash custom recovery again.

I have always liked making changes to my phone and after seeing the latest ICS released I thought why not... as we were being told it was backwards compatible
So I updated my firmware and played about in ICS for a bit but then decided it's not ready for me yet and I rolled back to my backup of HyperSensation
When it finished restoring I was greeted by the white HTC screen and that's all, it will now no longer boot my backup... "I have restored from this backup many times"
I then downloaded Android Revolution 3.6.11 and installed and it booted ok but I always have a problem with the kernel so flushed bricked as I always do and it stopped booting again with the HTC screen, I then re-flashed faux123 kernel on it again, and again it would not boot... stuck at the HTC screen
The firmware update seems to have messed up the ability to change kernels at all.. or roll back to an old backup, but new installs worked ok as long as i didn't change the kernel..
I then restored the H3G Ruu exe to my phone and that loaded ok and booted fine, I then tried to restore my backup that uses bricked 1.6 kernel and this time it booted
I then tried to re-flash the kernel and again I'm greeted by the HTC screen and it never loads
This firmware update has changed my phone and not for the good... even restoring the Ruu didn't fix it completely...
Anyone else have a similar problem with the new firmware

The partition layout for the 3.12.401.2/102 firmware is different, as explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
Indeed, but then restoring to an older Ruu should remove the changes right?
As the Ruu has the firmware in the update?

Yep I'm thinking the same thing too
Hboot 1.17.0011
radio 10.43a.9007.00p_10.51.9007.27.m3
but all I know now is I'm unable to change kernels anymore or even reflash the same kernel over the top of itself..
What's your recovery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA App
I can see no reason why your kernel updates are failing. Check your downloads to have the correct md5 and if you still have issues try an alternate recovery(which I highly doubt to be a problem but anyway). Also check that you are downloading kernels compatible with your Rom, otherwise they won't work. Another tip when flashing kernels is to wipe cache after flashing. Good luck

After installing a stock RUU you need to install Superuser to root the stock ROM, and update the binary and busybox. Then you can flash kernels.

I had a similar problem with mine;I restored GB 2.3.5 backup, reflashed original ROM on top, and booted up fine. After it booted just fine I did a reboot and it wouldn't go past the first HTC screen. So, I flashed my 1.45 firmware (inc. hboot 1.18 & Clockwork 5.0.2) and still stuck at the same spot.
Finally, I flashed back the firmware from ICS 3.12, reflashed my 2.3.5 ROM, wiped cache & dalvic, fixed permissions, and rebooted... Strange enough, I booted to the setup screen, which I went through that to find my data gone. SO, I super-wiped and restored my backup, which booted & rebooted fine, and proceeded to reflash the original ROM again. Now I'm good.
Observation(s):
1. Reverting to Firmware to 1.45 causes bootloops that can only be broken by restoring ICS Firmware 3.12.
2. Even after reverting (1.) device will not be stable until you super-wipe. From there on, you can restore backups and flash a ROM as usual.
Hope this helps,
Cheers

I keep getting reboots with latest Miui.us
I came from cm7.1 i flashed the rom the same as i always flashed any other rom. Im not an expert or anything but im not a newb i have done this before. But what i didnt do was a suoerwhipe should i have done that? I followed how you are supposed to install it i even watched tutorial on youtube to make sure i did it right and i did.
What the rom keeps doing is rebooting my phonr and i keep getting stuck on the htc logo. It will go to thr htc logo then reboot thrn go back to the logog then reboot again it does that over and over. And even when i tried to flash my cm7 clockworkmod backup it didnt work it still did it that had me extremely nervous that i was screwed. To fix it i had to refkash the firmware and then fkash the rom again clear the cache and everything all over again.
I thought it was over but then it did it again i and i jusr went back to cm7. I really want to use this rom anybody know why it is doing this? And how i can fix this?

Firstly, you should always superwipe when going to a different ROM (that is, a ROM from a different family).
Secondly, read the first couple of posts in the Inquisition thread and make sure you are using the right firmware.
I am having the same doubt whether you have upgraded the firmware. If you are using ICS version of virtuous inquisition you must upgrade the firmware with v3.24 (Revolutionary) which has the HBOOT 1.27 . Please go through the following thread.

I would suggest you may have failed to delete the firmware .img file from the sd card before you tried to boot the ROM?
Somethings wrong bc mine is 98% stable

When you say firmware are you talking upgrading to 3.24? Because i didnt do that. I thought the only firmware you needed was the one included with the Rom that they tell you to install first. And boomboomer is right i also didnt delete the firmware .img.
But which one of these is causing the problem? Me not deleting the firmware.img off the root of the sd card. Or me not updating my htc firmware to 3.24?
I didnt know you had to update the firmware to 3.24 the first time a flashed this rom like 2 weeks ago i didnt do that and it seemed to work fine i just followed this youtube tutorial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF2OWf0D9XQ
In it it says nothing about updating to 3.24.

3.24 is not "required" by the VI 3.0 rom, but most users that use it experience little to no problems, compared to the previous firmware. Bottom line, it's more stable using 3.24.
Your right i didnt. you think thats whats causing it?
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
You aren't reading the help you're bring offered. Delete the img file to stop the boot loop, if you want then update to 3.24 for better compatibility with ROM 3.0.0.
Ok thanks. Can i upgrade to 3.24 after I flash the rom?

Yes , you can . After flashing the ROM, do not reboot. Just power off. Then remove the sdcard . Put the the firmware file on the root of your sdcard using a pc. Insert the sdcard in phone. Boot into bootloader. Then follow on screen instruction. Hope you knowhow to boot into bootloader.
By the way, why not doing things in traditional way ??? I mean first flash firmware then you flash ROM.
I already flashed the rom and don't have an adapter to plug my sd card into my PC. Can I just download it from my phone and move it to the root of my SD then boot into bootloader?
And I flashed the rom first because i was told updating to 3.24 wasn't required. Plus I was kind of confused as to which 3.24 firmware to download and i just wanted the rom to bad but I have the right firmware now.

Yea its best to use the 3.24 fw. 3.12 causes reboots bootloops (grab the milk) and just ics based rom issues.

Yea. Go ahead flash the 3.24 then boot into recovery do a superwipe and reflash the rom. Just in case it causes issues with the rom already running.

Ok so u flashed the 3.24 via bootloader correct? Ok go back into recovery. Run the superwipe script. Use this one. http://db.tt/ps5JWwBw
Put it on the root of ur sd. Flash the superwipe then reflash ur rom.

Dont rename the superwipe script or worry about the (2) just flash it.

Hi there,
I've been flashing roms for more than one year now and never had a problem before (I never did a Nandroid backup )
I was using the Virtuous Inquisomething for the past month but I decided to try the Quattro version. Finding it too laggy, I decided to go back to the Inquisi... But problem, after flashing it, my phone keebs rebooting... Htc logo, shows the V logo (sometimes doesn't), black out, then restarts again. I tried different roms, HD Revolution, Light Rom, even the Quattro that I had before but my phone keeps rebooting. I flashed the Firmware to the 3.30, same thing. I wiped the dalvik cache, the cache and everything I could wipe but I have the same problem !
I tried to flash an original file, a Ruu but my computer can't find my phone because I can only access the ToggleUSB via the recovery
Do you guys know how to fix this? Anyone has a Nandroid Backup that I can use? (Tmobile - Sensation 4G? )
Thank you in advance
Curiously, have you ever superwiped your Sensation while doing all these flashes? There might be some residual files here and there that's just causing chaos inside the phone. D:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849 Here's the link for ARHD's original thread which has the superwipe down toward the bottom of the first post under "Downloads" and you just flash it like any other file through the 4EXT touch recovery (if you're using that!).
Flash latest firmware.
Download and flash latest ARHD Rom.
Problem solved let me know if anything goes wrong

Thanks for replying. I did exactly what you guys said but... same error... Boots, write HTC ... Quietly brillant and boots again !
I even formatted my Sd Card :/ !
Anyone has a Nandroid Backup?
I see that you only updated to 3.30 firmware. Try updating to the final firmware 3.32 and superwipe before flashing a new rom.
So I download the firmware it says to, I update it and then I flash the ROM. I get stuck in a boot loop though. Can someone give me the firmware they used or is there something I am forgetting to flash or update?
Did you do a full wipe?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Is the PG59IMG.zip file you used to flash the firmware still on the SDcard ? If so pop out the SDcard and try a reboot.
Did you SuperWipe before installing the new ROM, assuming that ROM's OP suggested it.
Yeah I did a full wipe. I used the ARHD super wipe file. I flashed Elegancia just fine a couple days ago (I did update to the firmware needed for LeeDroid, since it's different from Elegancia). I'm coming from AOKP though so would that affect it at all?
Most ics roms take either 3.32 or 3.33 firmware ,most can run both 3.32 and 3.33. What exactly did you download in regards to firmware? If its ics or 4.0.3 It's going to take one of those firmwares.

I bought a used htc sensation (TMOUS) from ebay and immediately rooted and s-off'd (using the stickied toolkit, and revolutionary.io respectively). I then updated my firmware to 3.33 and used clockwork recovery to install the CyanogenMod 10.1 Jellybean 4.2.2 - KANG. The ROM would load but it would freeze and soft reboot at the welcome screen, after I selected my language. I tried again with the PAC-man ROM and experienced the same problem. Then I tried again with Cyanogenmod 9.1 and this time the phone would lock up if I tried to pull down the notification bar or use any apps. In one of the ROM threads I saw that it might be an issue with the radio, so I tried an variety of radios but still have the same results or occasionally the ROM will get stuck at the boot animation. I'm currently using firmware 3.32 (downgraded to see if that would help), hboot 1.27.1100 and radio 11.23.3504.07 M2. Any ideas on why my phone just refuses to boot up?

I tried flashing 4EXT using the multitool and for some reason the phone entered a bootloop when I tried to boot in to recovery. I then tried flashing the TWRP recovery image through the multitool and it worked! After formatting everything and reinstalling the PAC-man ROM, I was finally able to get past that welcome screen. I bought this phone as a gift for a friend, and it is blowing my mind that this rom makes this 2 year old phone have newer features than my galaxy s3! Thank you again for all the help!!
