Im not too sure whats happened but after flashing the ICS roms my sensation XE thinks its a Sensation. In phone identity it just states sensation and the model number z710e.
IS this just due to the rom or have a messed somthing up?

It's just a line in an xml file that is displayed in settings. If you want it to say sensation xe with beats audio z715e then flash an XE Rom

Probably just a line in build.prop, which you can edit if you really want to.

That is one of three lines that need editing but the other 2 are set in /system/customize/CID/default.xml and are only loaded on first boot so really best thing to do is flash an XE ROM or a ROM that has XE support

Assuming you have HBOOT 1.18.0000 (which you should) then you can just use Revolutionary to S-OFF as you would the normal Sensation

Would be interesting if we can flash normal Sensation Roms.
Kernel an Hboot are the same?
Kernel is ROM dependent, I'd imagine it would work fine but I've no idea how the clock speed would be affected as the stock XE ROM runs at 1.2GHz on the original Sensation as opposed to 1.5GHz
Nandroid and give a ROM a go. If it doesn't work, restore your nandroid/flash the RUU
can one of you who have the xe get us the kernel so we can find out how its running stock at 1.5?
the stock kernel isn't released yet.

Lol, mate I just came from having a HD2 and I worked that phone to max ! Hardspl, about 60 roms etc etc and dual booting wp7 and android It's only been a few days and I haven't really read up on what to do with the sensation yet. I don't know what s-off and all the other terms are yet but what are the benefits, apart from being able to change roms ?

I had HD2 and from that I had upgraded to my first Android device which was Desire HD , Android was very confusing at the beginning but later on it became understandable.
S-OFF is just like Hard SPL , once you S-OFF your device ( Security OFF) then you can easily ROOT your phone , it's the same logic as HSPL but different approach same result
Once S-OFF and rooted , you can use many other applications to take over your Sensation and use it's powers to the limits.
Try it , you will NOT regret it
I unrooted the sensation xe today. No experience with HTC whatsoever. By mistake installed RUU Gingerbread 2.3.4... but of Sensation instead of Sensation xe.
Now have all specs showing of Sensation like 1.2 GHZ and no Beats Audio, etc.
My question is this :
I have downloaded now ICS update RUU file ( the correct one for sensation xe ) but it says that my phone Must Be a Sensation XE and nothing else.
But after this installation of Sensation RUU , isn't my phone just Sensation now or I still can update with power off into bootloader from this ICS RUU since in reality it is a Sensation xe ?
Or do i need to install a Sensation xe gingerbread first before I upgrade ?
Please advice. I don't want to plug in my usb and install wrongly.
Any way out please ?

Number one what's your objective meaning what are trying to achieve you could have found a xe ruu instead and my suggestion if you won't the ruu for the xe you will have to read before flashing don't get me wrong I'm not trying to be rude but this could have been avoided had you did a bit more reading and ask question's before running that ruu but let me do some searching around to see what I can find and I'll get back with you on the result's sit tight well I'm back and its a no go on the ruu for the xe strange though you think it would be in available but it isn't and also you could check with your carrier's web site for your device and it may point you in the right direction I don't know but it's worth a try I'm with tmo u s and thats how I found the latest update for my senssation and you could have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326631

did you do a nandroid backup before you flashed the ruu? Maybe try to restore.

Kk... download latest frimware it may b 3.33.. put in SD card root,get in bootloader mode..flash frimware, download ARHD or ViperS ROM.. and install it, instructions are inside the ROM.. AROMA installer

I have a htc sensation xe but with a htc sensation data and informations , I do not know if this is a manufacturing error or the previous owner flashed another kernel or whatever (see photos)
installed android version is the latest available (see photos yet)
The imei under the battery is : 358313049963783; and when I do : *#06# I have : 358313043952576
Do I have to flash another kernel or something else, knowing that it is s-off?

about differents imei the only thing that i can think is probably the device has been replaced with a new motherboard

I think that is the same roms for sensation and sensation xe
Now I have installed coredroid rom; in the information of phone now the is sensation xe, but still 1.2 Ghz for processor; and when i do *"06# I still have another imei than under the battery
I think that the kernel flashed the first time is not the true
What do you think ? and what kernel you advise me?

Last week had similar problem. I was going nuts.
I had a second hand phone. It was rooted but had sensation xe. I unrooted the phone and locked s-off.
It became sensation regular ! Went to HTC and since it was not rooted, they updated for free. I am now running Android 4.0.3

There are different models like Sensation 4G, Sensation xl, Sensation xe. I search and find some information about them like
Z710e is the International + T-MoUS version. (1700/2100/AWS)
Z710A is can run 3G on 850
Z715e is audio beats. This one is bascially the Z710e but with cosmetic differences and it runs 1.5GHz out of the box rather than the 1.2GHz on the Z710e.
I am just confuse about flashing these models. If I have rom for Z10e than can I flash that specific rom to z710A and Z715e or each model have its specific flash file?
Hope you understand what I want to say.

They're all the same at the core, you can flash whatever, as there is no such thing as a ROM based on a different model e.g. z10a.

Yes but this is not the case for the sensation XL!! This device has different hardware and a different kernel to ours. Safe sensation devices to "share software" is the standard sensation, the XE and the 4g tmob.

Exactly this. The sensation XL is a completely different device and you shouldn't flash anything you find in the xl boards. Anything you find in the dev section here will work though.
