I've downloaded it, the version is: 32.48.00.32u_5.10.05.30
I haven't tried it yet. But to answer your question, yes it is older but it is Orange specific which I assume gets around the network locking issue with some other radio versions? I'm interested to hear peoples experiences with this as my Desire is on Orange.

Testing it right now, it works, can't say more atm...i gotta make a couple phone calls, so i'll report later
THX, could you upload the matching RIL also, please?
Well, no as I'm not on Orange and have no idea what to look for in the OTA file...someone else can do that

Ah sorry my bad i didnt see the "orange" bit funny i simlocked my orange desire but when i rooted and flashed my brothers his didnt simlock when i updated his radio with the same one.......
Could someone tell me if every radio has a corresponding RIL. I keep hearing about RIL, but never see them available to flash.
I've just been grabbing radio files (like those on this thread) and flashing them. I've never flashed a RIL - is this bad?

some say the RIL helps make a rom work better with the radio, however its a "newish" thing to do.
I have had nothing but issues when flashign RIL's so I now am just back to flashing radios like I always used to.
Nobody tested this Radio for 5 days? OK, I'll do it :/
Is this for Orange phone only? Would like to try it on my desire if it's not..
I have been using it for a few days and it seems ok to me! Can't really comment on the battery life as I have overclocked by phone since then!
Run it on OD 4.0.34 for 36 hours. Seems OK. But one of the incoming calls, my friend couldn't hear me at all at the full bar -56dBM 2G network, and he sounded like tin voice to me. Called him back in 10 sec, same situation. So, no love...sorry. Then tried it on OD 4.0.36, keep losing connection somehow on various place with 2G...
[Oct 23, 2010] EDIT: Confirmed this radio is on par with the 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 in term of sound quality and GPS. Stable.
I'm confused.
My phone's CID is Orange-related, but it's sim-unlocked.
- Will this radio simlock my device back?
- Do I need to use this radio only on orange france (or wherever the phone is originally from)?
Radios are not rom related, this is simply the radio that orange were using in their last OTA, you don't need a orange phone to run it and no it won't sim lock you.
errr anyone?
Thanks for doing this! Was looking for it - I'll test it now...
I tested this for a while and had no issues. Tried a couple of custom 2.2 ROMS with it and also had no issues.
As I knew I could flash back to it, I tried the radio that most chefs recommend with their 2.2 ROMS - It worked and I DIDN'T get SIM locked....
So I'm now using that! Not sure if I wouldn't have got SIM locked anyway, or if this somehow bypasses it...?
Tested and working on branded Orange
Hi, just to inform.
Previously I had:
I have a Orange Spain branded HTC Desire. SLCD Screen.
It's successful rooted using unEVOed and has ClockWorkMod.
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: 32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09
Kernel: 2.6.29-54b7033a [email protected] #1
HBOOT 0.83
Now I have:
A successfull updated Desire. No SIM lock, no problems with radio (few hours but seems work perfectly)
I didn't need unlock code. At the start it asked for PIN code and no problems.
I have used baseband 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30 with Leedroid 2.2d. Work!
I just got a new Nexus S purchased from a Rogers store here in Canada.
I am eager to start flashing some new ROM's and such but I have learned some things in the past with my SGS and I really want to make sure I have my stock radio available in case I need to flash it back.
i9020AUCKB2 is my stock modem. I have some newer modems ready to flash but I am worried that it will cripple my 3G connection to Canadian carriers.
I have looked and can't find this modem anywhere. Also I don't know how to back it up myself. I have already done a CWM backup but I have read that this doesn't backup the radio firmware.
Does anyone know how I can easily backup my own radio or where I can download it from?
+1 I've been searching for the last few days info about the exact same thing. I just sold my i9000m and was hoping to flash some new roms with this phone too but not gonna try until I either have a stock odin version of this rom or at the very least the CKB2 modem.
+1 same boat, want to know this too
Just bought Nexus S yesterday Telus baseband I9020AUCKB2.
Rooted and installed CWM 3.0.2.4 and flashed CM7 (Great ROM) baseband remained the same
from what I've been reading in Nexus S dev, Odin is something we should try to avoid if possible. I came from Fascinate T959D and I thought about it but that's probably one of the easiest ways to brick if you don't know EXACTLY what you're flashing and WHAT you're flashing it on.
Odin = last resort
lucidcoin20 glad to hear that flashing CM7 didn't change the baseband, I didn't have the courage to try it. I wouldn't flash just anything with odin but if you can find the right files it will get you out of a mess pretty quick. I agree its not for noobies with no clue what's going on but if Samfirmware comes out with the 9020a rom I'll make sure to have it on my pc for an emergency.
But from my phone wich is a Koodo version (went with them cause they were so cheap outright so I could go just cancel and go back to bell) we all have the At&t version so all Canada is the same. Hope it all works that way so I can go on CM7.
But would still like to learn how to backup the radio file in case I ever need it in the future.
Well I went ahead and flashed KB3. My speeds are less than impressive but I still have 3g with Rogers. Still looking for KB2 though to do some more testing.
Have you tryied KB1 radio, works good for me, i believe it is a US radio.

Flashed KB1 and KB3 and tested using speedtest.com app, three separate times over wifi and cellular network - the KB1 was roughly 10-15% slower than the KB3 for me..
KB3 labelled my radio as "ATT" btw

LMAO did the same thing but for rogers saved $75.
If you look in Q & A forum, there is a post for a clockwork flash, K2B radio, just posted in that forum today. I have flashed the radio, work great fore me.
You can get the KB2 radio file on my thread in the General forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13077026
Thanks a lot, I was unaware that the Canadian carriers used KB2. Currently I am using KB3 and I noticed that sometimes the call breaks up, however I am not sure if its the firmware to blame. Does anyone have similar experiences with KB3?
I have tested KB2 and KB3 and my tests are not constant. Sometimes I get only 1MB or less down and up, sometimes I get 5MB down and 3up.
I'm not sure why the tests are so different. I can do the tests one after another in the same place and get completely different results.
I am with Rogers and I am using the Speedtest app. I noticed at one point the speedtest app was connecting to a server in Quebec which made no sense since I am near Toronto. The test results I mentioned above do not take the Quebec tests into consideration.
Well, here goes.
I've been reading alot for quite a while, and learning everything I could around this place. Thanks to tall who contribute.
I'm running NScollab, 1.0.42, with matrix 8.0 kernel.
Currently on the XXKB3 baseband.
Following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
I tried flashing the new KF1 radio for the nexus S. No luck. Either is doesn't flash at all ( status 6 error ) or when it does ( the signed version can be flashed in CWM ) no signal whatsoever. I've tried everything, changing the band, ( *#*#4636#*#* ) rebooting 45 times, dalvik wipe, changing type of radio, all guides, searched google, this website ( for a whole week ).
Nothing came up.
I'm posting, because this is pretty much last resort. I actually tried the KF1 radio on Miui, devnull, oxygen, and NScollab.
Telus users out there, what is your baseband ? What radio gives you the best signal and performance ? I know koodo switched to KF1, but I can't get it to work on my NS.
Any help is appreciated !

I use KB3 for koodo(telus). I get signal... and it works.
I'm curious as to whether KF1 would be a better radio for us, or if it even works for Telus/Koodo. Anybody know?

I have a Telus Nexus S in BC and I just installed an OTA update to 2.3.6 / GRK39F / I9020AUCKF1 and the KF1 radio seems to be working fine. I've been able to call around and MMS without issues so far. (about 2 hrs) Not enough time spent with it to tell you if it gets better reception or not...
I acutally installed the OTA pacakage in order to go back to stock as I was getting sick of the Search Bug that has been plaguing my phone for ages and I was going to bring it back for warranty work, but it appears the flash of the radio to KF1 that was included in the package has resolved the Search Bug!
Sweet! So, I might stick with this for a bit to confirm it is gone and and if all is well, I guess there's no need to return the phone for service!
I have the same issue on koodo. Flashed ICS and I get reception with KF1 downtown but barely anything at home and it used to be great.
I'm running the UCKF1 radio on my telus NS, on cm9 + matrix 14.5. With my phone, it was impossible to flash the radio with CWM, it would flash, but could not get on the network. I had to use fastboot to flash the radio.
In my experience, XXKB3 and XXKD1 were definitely the fastest radios (no upload cap), but my connection was unstable, needing occasional reboots to reestablish connection if I ever lost reception. UCKF1 has been rock solid for me. (I'm in the Toronto area)
Also, for some reason I only started getting the search bug with ICS and XXKD1, but UCKF1 fixed that.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
So my friend has a Nexus S that he bought from Rogers, using on Rogers etc. He put CM7 on it a while ago, didn't really like it so he tried to go back to stock as much as possible but is having some issues. I tried to help last night, but holy smokes there are alot of different radios and versions out there. It was so much easier when I had my nexus one compared to this (or so it seems to me). Anyways, for a Rogers user, what is the best (or most current) radio to use? He has tried the UCKD1 and B2 I believe, but had problems with not getting 3G. And even when he did get those on, and tried to install the OTA update, the update crapped out on him. I'm not 100% sure his phone is the I9020A version (it seems that way for ROgers though).
So I guess I will summarize some questions, that was a bad paragraph there.
1. What is the best (most current) radio to use for Rogers?
2. Can I combine the radio from Q1, with the current stock rom (2.3.6) and just flash with CWM recovery or fastboot?
3. Can someone verify the model number (I9020A)?
Thanks for the help!
search through the radio thread for Rogers to see what others ate using. You can determine your phone model by looking at the label under your battery.
Obscurely referenced from the fifth dimension on my Nexus S

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664
Hi all,
A week ago I bought a brand new Desire S and installed latest CM 7.1 stable following the guide on cyanogemod Desire S Wiki using revolutionary 0.4pre4. Everything was smooth and nice, I flashed ROM and GAPPS and my phone is working absolutely perfectly... but there is one little problem...
I am using Desire to fetch my mails from 2 mailservers using IMAP every 30 mins. But when the phone is switching between network modes i.e. HSDPA -> EDGE or EDGE -> GSM or any other way, I am disconnected from operator network for about 10 seconds until the network mode changes and everything is fine after that, until there is another network mode switch.
This happens for me about 10 times a day, so my phone sometimes appears that It is turned off for people who want to call me. Immediately after connecting to network I get a missed call SMS from my operator.
Interesting thing is, that when I disable email fetching, disable background data transfer and disable network data, the phone works fine without "blackouts".
Can someone help me with this problem? Maybe a radio issue?
Some more info:
ROM: Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 Desire S
Recovery: Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
HBOOT: 6.98.1002
Kernel: 2.6.35.14-cyanogenmod+ [email protected] #1
Radio: 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
There is a newer radio-file online.
Maybe it's solving your problem.
I'm using MIUI and never had such problems, but i'm interested in flashing CM, so please report if the problem is gone by flashing newer radio!
Which radio version are you using?
Today I am testing 2G only switch so I am on EDGE data only.
Flashing radios is safe......, but a bad radio flash will instantly brick your phone.
You are using 1.47.401.4 radio, try updating to the 2.10.401.5 one.
Thanks for reply.
Shoud I flash something else with the radio?
I have 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 downloaded from cmw.22aaf3.com
Another I have is ftom OTA update zip file OTA_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8-1.47.401.4_release_225210fmxlt12djw1sr7y5.zip where is one radio.img in formware.zip file too - version unknown
So Which one to flash?
and if so, which method should I use to flash radio? The Android SDK one or the ZIP + Bootloader one?

Strangely I had the same issues as you on Endymion.
Then I updated radio to the latest.
It worked well.
Then I went to CM7. It was fine for a while, but now I'm losing signal with no 3G bars and its not switching automatically to 2G like it should when It has no 3G signal!
EDIT:
After really reading your post, I realise my issue is no way like yours! Yours seems really bad. Update your radio.

No, the cover is at its place where it should be. Somehow I did the trick and I am back online with 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03 on 2G only for now.
I read somwhere in the forum that ENG HBOOT is required for new radios... Are you sure I dont need to flash eng hboot it before new radio ??

may you have to set automatic settings, rather than 3g/2g-only?!

using same hboot as you, never had problems on flashing radio-files!
yes, in my area there is 3g, when I turn off 2g only switch there is a problem described in my first post, so i am on 2g for now just to keep phone connected to network.
main problem is when i am driving and the phone is switching network modes.
so I give 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 today another chance, try to flash if again.
but i am woried about stucking on HTC logo after flash :-( and brick it.

i already had the problem for several times, and i also pulled out the battery (you shouldn't do that)!
only had to boot into bootloader, start recovery, wipe all partitions, flash rom and was having fun again with my device
this thread could help you, if really stuck on HTC logo
For your real problem on loosing the signal, did you ever tried out using actual stock rom, or another custom one like MIUI?
i used MIUI from 2010-08 till yesterday, now trying out CM7.1 for some days
I have the same or a very similar problem. I have the stock rom.
I already had 3 different desire s motherboard's and 2 different display's.
The first Desire S i had, with android 2.3.3, had a excellent signal. Due some problems i had, the phone bricked and had to go to HTC to repair.
HTC replaced the motherboard and update the version of the android to 2.3.5 and ever since the signal caption, the signal switch was working very bad.
The phone went to a second repair because of this, new phone, and again with android 2.3.5. The problems persisted.
I also tested with different SIM cards, from different mobile operators.
So, my conclusion is either android 2.3.5 or this new versions of Desire S have problems with signal caption and signal switch.
So as you, i need some help with this issue!

I am still testing new radio, but looks good Give me some days let you know...
Hi All,
I have a similar problem with the latest CM7.1 nightly builds (Reaper, jorgen2009). I never saw this with older CM7.1 versions, e.g. Nexx version, ICS, MIUI oder Endymion.
I have WLAN on and leave my house. Phone switches to 2G/3G..., so far so good. When I return home, The WLan sign in the status bar appears again, everything seems to be fine, but I have no connection. I get no data via WLan until I swicth WLan off and on again.
Radio is the latest from 2.10.401.5.
Best Regards
Wrapp
Had similar problems, upgrading to the latest radio helped. I got stuck on the HTC screen and I went through flashing RUU's and unlocking bootloaders back and forth... when the only thing that needs to be done is to wipe the cache.
Learned a lot about bootloaders though. But my warranty got void because i did the htcdev unlock... (Sorry for OT)
