[INFO]Kies Update - Samsung Infuse 4G

I downloaded and ran kies while on stock froyo not rooted and I got the "unregistered device" message, my baseband was UCKH1. I decided to use GTG's UCKD5 unbrick for the hell of it, restarted kies and I now get the "Phone Upgrade Available" message, when I hit upgrade it puts the phone on download mode, kies downloads a file and after a few mins kies says unable to upgrade phone.
The kies box shows current version I997UCKD5 - Upgrade version I997UCKE3
Don't know if that has anything to do with Gingerbread being as it hasn't been announced for the Infuse but I thought I would let you guys know.

Calm down buddy...This is the first time I have been able to get past the "Unregistered Device" message and seen 'Upgrade Available" though kies. There are many people that also get the "unregistered Device". Just thought I would share the info I found. If it's not relevant to you, then keep it moving and don't tell me what to do.

Umm.... How about you calm down. No one was freaking out or anything. You just took way too much offense to that. And it's irrelevant to everyone and just gets excitement for Gingerbread up. We've had quite a handful of these popping up about possible Gingerbread this and that. There's no reason to post until you're 100% sure that it's that or whatever.

Accidental double post.

no update = fail post lol

post nazis please join another site and spew your un-needed hate there. the gb update will come when it comes, stop over reacting because people post something that turns out to be something else. its like a bunch of 10 year olds waiting on santa.
if you dont like a thread, don't reply. it will fall to the bottom and die. bumping it with usless bs just makes it keep showing up.

ummmm....notice how the tittle says "Kies Update" and it does not say gingerbread update..the purpose of the thread is that I was able to see "upgrade Available" intead of the usual "unregistered device" and in oreder to see "upgrade available" I had to use GTG's unbrick.
I see the point you are making regarding the Gingerbread updates threads, but that's not what I was doing.

No, I was using the Samsung PST software. It downloads the software to 100%, then an error dialogue box pops up.
I have the "unknown baseband" problem, and I think it's failing right at the very end as it's trying to flash the modems.
Sorry for the multiple posts--this topic is being discussed in a lot of different threads, and I feel like I'm the only one who can't get it to work successfully.
Baseband Radio
Ok so this is a noob Q. Is the baseband what gives my charge Signal?? Ive been having problems with dropped calls and lack of network stablility would this fix it and can i upgrade to ee4, root flash roms and kernels and still keep the new baseband? Thanks...

In a nut shell, YES. Once you get yourself to an ED1 or ED2 stock or rooted state, you should then be able to accept the OTA EE4 update which will update your radio. Just make sure you are not on a custom rom when you update. So, stock rooted ED1 or ED2, then update. Just apply the OTA, then your favorite root kernel. If you want a custom rom, pick one that is made for the EE4 update. However, you will not lose the radio/baseband update as the custom roms and kernel's don't touch the radio area.
Good luck!!
Thanks youre the only who answered any of my posts...lol I was thinking maybe I had to know someone

Did you take Sim Card out? Heres i what i did.
as soon as i put the phone in download mode ( you know yellow triangle?) i inserted the battery, make sure its fully charged and make sure you take the sim card out. So i inserted the battery back in and pressed the button to start flashing the ED1 file. I tried to flash the ED2 thats on the list but that file is borken i think.
Please continue this discussion in the thread linked in Post #1 so that everything is in one place.

Update Available but failed

Checked my infuse to see if update was available. To my surprise it was, started download, everything fine and then it says update failed. Now my phone is stuck trying to download update. Any suggestions?
Proof?......
Interesting, I just tried to update and it just stalled, never said up to date. It always completes and says up-to-date .. now I have to wait 24hrs to try again lol what BS!

He says proof but I just stated that my phone is stuck trying to download some update. BTW I never said it was gingerbread, since that's obviously what you thought I was referring to. The update said 8193kb and then after it downloaded that, it tried to update on a white screen and said failed. I have no reason to lie. I could care less, I just want my phone to stop force closing because that is what it has been doing for the last 30 minutes.

Most likely this was the pre-release package that was pushed some weeks ago. Sounds like the right size for it. The GB update should be about 100000kB or 100mB depending on how you wanna look at it.
Can you get into fastboot or sbf?

That's what I figured but I just came to this phone from an inspire(starting to regret) and i'm not to knowledgeable with the infuse yet. Thx btw.
I'm using ODIN right now to try to return to stock. Hopefully it works.
Update, i'm back to stock and I got rid of superuser. I may be taking the phone back. Thx for the responses.

Don't recall saying it was news. I think I was asking did anyone have a suggestion on how to get my phone outta this stuck mode/force close mode.
Ultimate unbrick.
when you ultimate unbrick you will always have a update available since you are running the previous version and a update was pushed.
so yeah ultimate unbrick then flash the community kernel if you would like giving you red CWM then just flash any other rom.

[Q] Please Help my Bricked Infuse

OK, So first of all, I would like to say thank you in advance for all of your help. This has been a very informative site and I have been a daily reader here. I have learn alot, and then I think, wow, what if.....
So, here is my delema,, I tried to update with Kies mini and after a few minutes I got a message on Kies and my phone;
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
So I follow the instructions, which say to remove the battery, replace the battery, hold volume + and _ while pwring up. And I still get the error message. Samsung cant even help....
My phone has never been rooted and is bone stock with exceptions to a few apps. I did unmount the sd card first....
SO PLEASE, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I have read all I can find, but find nothing to pertain a unrecoverable phone ?
Can anyone help me?

Frank give us an update when you can ok :thumbdown:
First off, make sure to thank bigjoe (thanks button);this phone is pretty much unbrickable so no worries there. If you where bone stock before the update then you probably need gingerbread bootloaders for qkster's one click to work (pretty sure bootloaders aren't selected by default).
You can either retry the links Joe posted and select to also flash bootloaders or...
You can give this a shot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
It will take you back to stock froyo unrooted etc. From there you can try Kies again (make sure when you plug the phone in to select "Kies Firmware" option). I used this method last week to flash the update. Kies can be tempermental sometimes but you've got a lot of unbrick options at your disposal. Let us know how it goes.
I finally got a screen other than the error message. I had a choice, vol- or vol+ to continue. I chose + to upload a custom ROM or whatever it actually said, other than cancel, I had to plug in USB and hold + and - while inserting the battery.
I installed the USB cable to a different port. ,so now I have the android digging and underneath it says downloading do not unplug. BUT nothing is happening. A very small piece of a progress bar is showing up, but nothing is happening. Wait, the progress bar is moving a smidge. Let me get back to ya'll on this.
BTW, I cant click on the thanks button, there is no button to click but I will check that again as well.
Thank you
bigjoe2675 and xIC-MACIx,
I just want to say thank you guys for all your help and patience. I finally got the phone back with odin and am currently again trying the update with Kies mini. I will let ya'll know what happens with that.
I tried to find a thank you button but have not seen it? Am I overlooking it? I will look again, but a big THANK YOU to you both. And I am now rebooting after updating from Kies. Sooooo, I will update after awhile and let you know how its going.

Well, I did get the update and got everything back in working order. However, I did use Kies? I see that you say you wouldn't. May I ask why? or is it just because Kies is so flaky?
My ultamate goal here is to flash AEON, but I am not sure about doing it before my Samsung warrenty is up. I have read over and over through this forum and have decided that AEON is the one for me. As far as I can remember reading, Everything works and I would prefer it to be as such.

ahhhh... there's your problem. Updates on the cheescake server can be notoriously had to catch. They can be there a second and gone the next. You should of hit update and let it download then deny the installation once it asked. That way you could of made a backup later and have the leaked file.
You definitely gotta be quick. I've had the update go unavailable mid-download before back when we first got 55.13.15...
It was about 30% complete when the download stalled then failed. Further update checks on that server (IIRC it was bqa1 or maybe lenny) showed I was up to date. The update was still available on another server though.
Must reiterate that you should never install the update without copying it out of the /cache folder first.
The proper answers are always YES to download and NO to install.
In fact you probably shouldn't install these updates at all...

[Q] Does anyone know what's wrong with this screen?

I was trying to update my mom's Infuse to ICS, then all of a sudden this (attached) happened. Heimdall had just given me the libusb.dll error (I needed to update the bootloader cause I kept getting rainbows in CWM), so I was unplugging the phone so I could get the right drivers.
I have a horrible feeling I did something very wrong. I can't imagine why what I was doing would have caused this though, since the cmd had gone back to a default state after giving the error.
Is there any way to fix this?? Thanks a ton in advance!

can you get it into download mode...?
if so run the one click again and you might have to check the box for bootloaders, on the second run...meaning I would run it twice...
It does that immediately on power up. Doesn't even get to the Samsung screen. Odin will recognize the phone, but when I try to flash a return to stock package (which I used earlier perfectly fine), it says the md5 is invalid.
Like I said, I never even got to the point of installing the bootloader since I forgot about the drivers. Are you saying I should install the drivers and try to flash the bootloader again?
Thanks so much for the help! I've never had this much trouble with a phone before
EDIT: I'm a dumbass. since I couldn't see the screen, I forgot to press up again after entering download mode. Odin is now in the process of installing the aforementioned return to stock package. And I think it worked!
You have no idea how grateful I am of you for pointing that out! I feel kind of dumb for not trying it, but when the screen looked like that I could only assume there was no functionality!
THANKS AGAIN! Times a million!
Lol ok let us know when you get it up and running....kk

What EXACTLY gave you the idea to put your mother's phone on a ROM that half works and has many bugs? Just trying to understand... I could have done this to my friend's mom's atrix, but I didn't because the stock ROM will always have the least bugs for unpopular devices like ours. (ones that don't get official support for CM or AKOP or anything)

the op has the options to put what he wants, and actually if you have been tracking the ICS/CM9/AOKP threads they have made leaps in the smashing of bugs....actually very stable and good to go now, seeing how just months ago we didn't even have any ver of ICS, and yes it takes homework to install..
and you kept stock on your friends Mommy phone well that was between you and him and Mommy...
so long story short....as far as unpopular, I see this device being sold and for a high demand on CL and Ebay...with all the support given here...that is my IMHO...as is yours

First of all, every once in a while, she asks me if there are any updates yet.
Second, there's only a short list of insignificant bugs mentioned in the ICS topics.
I flashed GB on it a while back, and I figured since CWM and everything was set up already I wouldn't have a problem; flash, reboot, flash again, done. Unfortunately, it wasn't flashing the second time for whatever reason, and I figured it had something to do with the now half-functional CWM.
Anyway, to those of you who weren't unreasonably judging me, and rather decided to help: Thank you, the phone is now back up and running!

Same thing happened to me. What I did was send my phone back to Samsung tell them everything ( except about rooting) they will email you a label then ship it off and get back in about 1 week. They will put stock gingerbread on it. Hopes this helps.
