Hello,
I have a simple yet annoying issue. Every time I get a text message or email the media volume lowers a bit, like one notch. I checked in the volume setting, and all sounds settings on the phone. It happens whether I'm using XM app, tune in radio, etc, so it's not a setting in those apps, and it does it with both gmail and texts.
Not really sure what to check next. I thought maybe it was Tasker, but I disabled it and same thing. It's just annoying to have to constantly turn up the music volume after a message comes in. Any help is appreciated!
Running stock Bell Android, no custom roms or anything like that. I just did S-off, root, but that is all I'm doing, and the problem existed prior to doing this.
Try going to settings> sound> quite ring on pick up and uncheck it.

That one is already unchecked

I've noticed that, for some reason, during the day my notifications won't sound. The phone will vibrate but I have missed calls, SMS, emails, etc. because of this. The phone is DEFINITELY on loud and I am NOT changing the volume in pocket (it happens with or without case). Everytime it happens, I checked my volume and it is all the way up.
Any ideas? PS - happens on any ROM

I had a similar issue that turned out to be due to my own mis-setting of CyanogenMod's quiet hours <.< 12PM is different than 12AM.
In your case it sounds like there is a setting somewhere that is preventing there from being a notification sound. Do you use stock messaging and gmail? Go into the settings for those applications (stock or non) and check to make sure its set correctly. Has this always been true? Have you tried doing a full factory reset? It sucks but its the best way to gauge whether or not you are experiencing a setting issue or if its really a hardware issue. Do your calls ring?

I appreciate the help; I'll check quiet hours. As I stated, calls have the same problem. Notifications are definitely properly configured in their respective apps because I get the sounds sometimes.

In your Sound -> Volume Make sur ethe "Use incoming call volume for notificatons" radio is ticked. Turn ringer all the way up and see if you can hear your notifications.
I'm a guy who likes his phone to be as quiet as possible. It's always in vibrate. However, there are times where I'd like to hear some notifications, say text messages or calls from people I'm expecting, or other events relevant at the time but everything else is still suppressed to vibration. Is something like this possible through an app, or is it something that requires a bit of modding in Android? It's more convenience and definitely something I could live without, but it'd still be nice.
Make sure your phone is set to vibrate on all events. Change the ringtone of what you don't want to vibrate to a silent ringtone, and what you do want to ring to an audible one.

I am new to Samsung, and new to this phone, so maybe I am missing something silly.
I can't get this thing to vibrate! I have tried all the vibration settings (always, only on silent, etc.) and I have my gmail and voice settings to always vibrate, but the dang thing won't vibrate. Even the little vibrate icon in the notification bar lights up, and it vibrates when you turn off/on and when you volume down to silent (just as confirmation of silent mode), so I feel confident it isn't a hardware issue.
I just got it Saturday, and I have been testing out different profile managers. I have them all deleted now, but could one of them set something to not vibrate? Even though I have it set to vibrate in stock settings? I can't remember if it vibrated before I started messing with those profile managers...
Should I just factory reset and start over?
Put it on vibrate. Then go to your sound settings and make the notification sound louder. Then try calling your phone to see if it worked.
Should of posted this in q&a btw.

Have you tried turning your vibration intensity up?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the incorrect location.
OK, tried what you suggested. Looks like vibration works for phone calls but still no vibration for notifications.

Yes, vibration intensity is on max for all.
ETA: Ok, My wife has a brand new i777 that we got at the same time and I set up the same way. Her notifications weren't vibrating either, even though I had the settings set up that way. I checked the profile manager that was still on her phone (that I had had on my phone, but deleted) and vibration was unchecked. When I checked it, the phone vibrated as it should. Therefore, it looks like that app (Profile Scheduler) left something unchecked down inside the OS even though it is deleted and the stock OS says to vibrate.
I'm going to try to reinstall that app and check the settings and then uninstall again and see if that fixes it. Otherwise I'm going to have to factory reset.
ETA2: Ok. Looks like that fixed it! It changed my ringtone, but that is a simple fix. Much better than having to factory reset. Thanks everyone!
Has anyone figured out a way to make it so you can set different sounds to mute (example just notifications, which are tied to ringer, stupidly) without the sound profile for the entire phone changing to silent? If I set ringer to silent, everything but alarms and media are silenced, which is ****ing annoying. If I want everything silenced I'll set the silent profile mutt self. Really all I want is a way to control the different sound levels like an adult who knows the difference between ringer and notification volumes.
I've tried multiple third party apps, they are all limited to the way sound are handled natively, and can't override the auto-silent mode setting. I need a root solution, like a modified settings app, but unfortunately no one makes those for odexed ROMs, and I'm in stock T-Mo US...

Quick settings in the store. Used it for ages. Works perfectly for that. Only thing is that ringer and notifications are still tied together. But that's ICS, so you don't really get a choice.

Yeah, noticed that. Was going someone fixed it like in AOKP. But it might not matter for long since I'm having AOKP withdrawals, so I'm probably going to flash it soon. I was trying to stay as close to stock as possible but there are just too many little things about sense that irritate me, and now this.

HI,
MY LG G2X has developed a new bug and not sure how to fix it. The volume goes mute often meaning, i am missing calls. not able to listen to ring tone. For example if someone is calling, if I hold on to my mobile, I can see the call on screen but without ring volume. Only after force restart the volume comes back but this happens many times in a day. I am missing calls often because of this bug. Someone having similar bug? any fix for this issue?
I have tried factory reset, but still not able to fix the bug. Any suggestion, appreciated..
Is it just ringing that gets muted or all audio?

Need more info. What ROM, baseband, kernel etc.
Edit: something very silly used to happen to me sometimes when the ringer would turn low or even off when phone was in my pocket because the vol- was being pressed accidentally... am sure yours isn't that but figured it won't hurt to mention.
