Sensation won't stop taking screen shots! - HTC Sensation

Hi there
I'm having the issue recently where I press home button and it takes screen shots! I have to lock and unlock to stop it but it soon starts again!
I have checked the button for operation and can hear it click in and out, I have carried out full reset but issue persists!
I have had Android since day dot but this has never happened!
Any ideas ... Can I disable screen shot function!

What rom, what service provider etc etc? Good to put it in your sig

I had exactly the same problem, if i was using the latest shipped pyramid ROM. Older versions of shipped ROM's did not have this problem.
So you could try a older version of shipped pyramid ROM or maybe a custom ROM, like InsertCoin, AdroidRevolutionHD, CM7.1, ... with these i had no problems.
Also all that was ment for Gingerbread. With the newest ICS ROM's stock HTC, senseless, or AOSP, I had absolutely no problems with screenshots...
I hope that was helpfull

Thanks, will try that, it's HTC sensation on 2.3.4, using GO launcher instead of sense, software number 1.50.401.1
Never changed the ROM before so could be interesting!

If i remember correctly the "1.45.XXX" was the last that worked great with sensation and if you updated that one the screenshot problem started to appear.

I'd flash cm7 and see how it goes. It could be a hardware failure of some sort and would likely be a warranty return.
Matt

How do I flash CM7 !

Just an FYI they did have a recall on this handset due to this issue if I am not mistaken. Here is the thread for that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419487

I had the same problem with the stock sense...no longer an issue once i flashed a different rom.

Hmmm ok looks like I will have to work out how to flash the ROM!
Thanks

Edit youre also gonna have to flash the new firmware package

Does this mean I will lose all my apps etc like a reset! Thanks

I found when I was playing with an app' called SD Maid,I had the same problem.
After I removed it,problem gone.
Go figure.

The same problem cropped up for me after the OTA GB update that included the feature. I installed a different ROM (InsertCoin ICS 4.3.1 currently) and the problem totally went away.
I had initially assumed that my power button was "sticking", but since it went away I'm assuming it was a software problem.

The only time I have had that problem is when my power button got stuck on me. But I am currently using the stock rom.

I have had this problem with my Sensation and i think it is the power button that is built into the outer case becoming physically stuck half way down. I have solved it on a couple of occasions by taking off the case and just making sure the case button is free and loose and also then giving the actual power button (pad) on the device a few presses with a finger nail before re-fitting the case.

i had that problem with stock.
solution is to repress the power button... i think the software thinks its being pressed, so press it once more, and it stops taking pics.
that said... im now on 4.0.3 and that problem is gone.

My power button was sticking. Power+ home was a screenshot. I gave the sides of my power button a flick with my fingernail. No more issues.

Is it just in the Vodafone branded update?
Nice, works perfectly ;-)
Great, thank you. It works for the unbranded European Sensation, too (1.45.401.2).
Lol I was pressing home and power at the same time and wondering why it didn't work Thanks

Just to confirm, this also works on Android Revolution ROM 2.1.0 !

That would work too, but it's practically impossible to precisely press both at the same time.
i am using InsertCoin 2.2.2, and this is working perfectly.
baadnwz's rom based on 2.3.4 all have that feature.
so is it a feature of android2.3.4 ?
Wow. So this works with the stock rom too? I knew insert coin had it, I just never figured out why I couldn't get it to work the right way.
How are people only just realising this?? LOL!
I'm using this feature in InsertCoin 2.2.2 ROM it works good most of the time, but sometimes when I hit just the home button, it takes screen captures. Is anybody having the same problem?

Doesn`t work on my UK T Mobile Sensation
Unless you're on 2.3.4 it won't - it wasn't in 2.3.3
Ah right thanks, that explains it then.

It's not a feature of android 2.3.4, htc decided to implement this feature in 2.3.4. They could have done it in 2.3.3 if needed, but may have skipped since it is not a high priority feature.

HELP--HTC sense has stopped unexpectedly- wtf

for like the past week my sensation has been telling me that "htc sense has stopped unexpectedly" it does it in random places, nothing i have been able to track. then whenever im done doing whatever im doing and push the home button the white HTC splash screen pops up with the green writing and then starts loading as if i had just restarted the phone.
any idea????
Had similar issues before rooting/CM7A... got that white HTC screen almost every time I went back to home screen. Was thinking maybe a resource issue?
any idea how to fix it, its annoying as hellllllzz
I fixed it by rooting and installing CM7 Alpha.
my phone is rooted too but im still having the problem, are you still using the sense launcher? i kept the stock rom and everything, just rooted to freeze the bloatware
have you tried to clear data in htc sense?
i'm having this problem after install kernel looks like no solution for me if wanna use custom kernel
CoreDroid fixed the issue. Try it. Plus it's themed and let's you turn on and off tge Spinning SENSE animation and colors of the clock, etc.

Ive tried all the fixes, clear data.
Best one so far is to remove the new funky android Market app and go back to the old style one. Sense is only rebooting a few times a day now, not all the time.
Im on Stock Vodafone ROm, 2.3.4 No Root etc...
Bloke
Just back everything up (not system files) and factory reset and reflash. Its from a Dodgey install

The only thing that I'd like to add is that the more recent version of the Pyr-o-ice desensed is the Virtuous rom over on rootzwiki (the creator works for virtuous team now). I've been using it for the past 3 days and it's damn good. Seamless transition, very impressive.
Ditto, virtuous inquisition is my daily driver and without a doubt the most stable I've run with yet. Id just head to virtuous' website directly.

I'm using virtuous inquisition ROM. It is very stable. The things that you will miss out are:
1. Shift/Alt buttons does not show indicators on screen when you double press on them for All Caps or numbers. However, you will get the Led light indicators on top of the keyboard (if you are aware that there are 2 led indicators for shift and Alt)
2. The burst shot function on camera does not work. So if you use burst shots (take 5 pictures one after another with a single button press to capture action scenes), you will miss out on that.
3. Not an problem issue, rather different from what it used to be, is that the physical www/com button opens browser instead of inputting www or .com
I did not get any error message or screen freeze issues on this ROM.

[ROM][25.May]UTB ROM 2.0 - As clean as can be

NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.
DOWNLOADS
v2.0 RC1
v1.0.6

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though

Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...

The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!
Thanks

TMO News Report: No ICS Upgrade until at least mid June

http://www.tmonews.com/2012/04/t-mo...-ice-cream-sandwich-upcoming-device-launches/
If the Sensation ICS update date of 6/16 is accurate this just shows what a clusterf*** T-Mobile USA and HTC both are. Another 2 months before ICS comes to the Sensation, to be honest at this point, I don't buy that date. I think it's just being leaked to try to shut up those of us Sensation owners who have been expecting it in the the near term. I have major doubts whether T-Mobile and HTC for whatever reasons, will release the update ever. Clearly the proper resources are not being committed to this project. Very disappointed.
The tmo sgs2 isn't getting it till mid May so a mid June date isn't too impossible. Such crap on tmo and HTCs part.

I thought bt problems were only with sense4.0 roms?
I just got this phone, and I'm torn as to whether it's worth it to flash now or just wait for the update. I had ICS on my 4g slide, and I'm sure it would make this phone rock, but I'm not sure there is a real reason to switch now instead of wait for a fully stable version

You can easily reproduce the bt problem with any sense 3.6 or 4.0, even with the htc release of ics without root or anything. If anyone is interested in the issue, try this to reproduce the issue. 1) open google listen with bluetooth on. 2) just play any items not downloaded (streaming it). 3) press home to go to home screen. 4) try calling anyone. 5) you can see a huge delay on calling or receiving, almost freeze. 6) if your calling was ok, then check whether the listen items continue to play after call.
In this process, I faced a lot of delays of switching listen to phone and vice versa. Force closes sometimes occurred. Force reset was occasionally needed for me to use the phone normally again. If you do not use bluetooth, it will be no problem at all. But if you use bt a lot like me, this issue is really annoying.
I wonder if it is only me to experience the issue with bluetooth and ics.
Tmobile is going to make you guys wait until their new phones, packing ICS, have been out for awhile. Why spend money on a phone that is EOL? The new phones have very very little up on the sensation. To give the sensation ICS now would make it a huge competitor of their new phones.
Root and be done with it.
