The cm7 was supposed to be ironed out in this build but it want..

I hope that devs come over to G2x land. LG can't work out its problems, T-Mobile can't work out its problems. Maybe the smart developers can work it out.

I think it would be a mistake for anyone to jump ship unless they just really wanted something else. The G2x has an awesome screen (despite screen bleed), great hardware, and great form factor. The only thing wrong with it is software related, which is fixable. You can't fix poor hardware, which some newer phones do have.

Thinking and doing are 2 different things. I could easily sell one of my 7 devices and get the sense and still keep the g2x. Some people read to far into things.

I believe I did say "thinking" in the OP. I was only trying to point out that it seems as though a lot of people are switching to the sensation... And your update didn't say "thinking of selling one of my seven devices" it said "thinking of selling my g2x".
I wasn't trying to read too much into things. Just don't want a mass exodus...

Me too.
CM7 already has the battery driver ironed out and a pretty stable release of 2.3.4. The phone itself is awesome and I'm loving the Tegra games.
I think I would be seriously disappointed if I were to switch to another phone right now.
I think my next phone won't be until Tegra 3's are out.

u hit it on the head player911, im effin loving my phone it is a beautiful piece i actually took my screen protector off and wow this screen is amazingly beautiful, ill tell u what those tmobile anti smear protectors suck! anyways the screen doesnt have one scratch id figure i would just keep one off because of the gorilla glass it has been about a week and not one scratch, and i think im just gonna stay with this phone for a while, i love the way this phone plays games, u have to check out galaxy on fire 2. great game....and now that cm7 is on its way to stable im not even worried about that official gingerbread release because it really wont do nothing special to our phones, we need the drivers from nvidia! as far as battery and etc., but like i said cm handled that......sorry a little off subject

So, my teen daughter is getting a phone for x-mas.

It just arrived through ups.
Its the LG G2X, and I'm extremely jealous looking at all the cool features it has, not to mention it's dual core.
I just took it out of the box, and looked at it.
Didn't turn it on or anything, because, well, its her Christmas present...
So i am pleading to you guys to give me some good reasons why I shouldn't stick my phone in that box, and pretend that's the new phone she got, while I sneakly keep the g2x as if it has been my phone all along.

Octane 3.0 themed version. Gotta wait until its available and you've tried it before jumping ship Other than that, umm I moved to a G2X myself. But I still have the SGS4G. Umm reasons to stay with it..... battery lasts noticeably longer, screens brighter, speakers alot louder! Other than that I love my G2X

Yeah, the g2x does look pretty badass.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to be satisfied with modding and hacking it for her, lol.
Best of all is, it was free, just by adding it to my family plan.

I would swap it. Seriously.

I wouldn't. I had a g2x and it had massive problems. They may have worked them all out by now but if its still the same quality as when it first came out then it is some garbage.

Software, or hardware?
Also, you might of just gotten a bad apple.
Haven't really seen many negative reviews about it.

Nah, I think there's still some life to come onto this phone yet.
I have been around since the kb5 enhanced days, and i know we go through slow periods here, but there is always something new on the horizon.

Well, she got lucky they are giving them away for free.
I mean it would be kind of stupid getting a lesser quality phone for the same price ($0), just so my phone would be better.

My dad gave me a g1 when he had a blackberry pearl that was old and my mom had a verizon pay phone. Yes, he payed contract price for it. So ya, you should be as kind as that. Also, my dad also gave me the SGS4g, but my whole family has an SGS4g

Plus, she's been a good kid.
She just got her from Brazil this year, and has made tremendous progress in learning English, and getting good grades in school.
And ill be happy with modding the phone to her taste.
Just likei do to my wife.
In a way, this is still a present for me, because the most enjoyment i get of a phone is modding it.

for me its a terrible choice...but hey, if you put a physical keyboard in front of having the best android phone on the market, then sure, why not. I guess its a personal choice over specs

There's no substitute for a physical keyboard. Period. You're going to type better on the Glide, and that's a basic usability factor.
I was pretty much sold on the Glide myself, but I jumped to the Skyrocket because it was very important to me to get a phone that was more future proof, given my last experience, and the Glide is not, and (I'm speculating) will probably not get Ice Cream Sandwich. That's a big deal to me.
HOWEVER, if I was the kind of guy who bought a new phone every year and wasn't planning to be stuck with it for two years, I would have gotten the Glide. It's absolutely a good phone.

Honestly, that seems like a terrible trade and your getting ripped off. If you really really wanted to do that, your better off selling it for straight cash and buying one cheap from Ebay, Craigslist.

im sorry but i totally disagree...luckly, the human brain adapts quite well. ive had a gs2 for 6 months and i can type better and faster than you on your glide and even better and faster than most on a computer. you get used to it very fast, at least i did

Well for emulators the physical keyboard will be best. I think I'm gonna give it a go. They have roms too plus i can get my taste of ICS with my galaxy gab 10.1 with CM9

The Skyrocket has great rom support. I have one and completly love it. It all comes down to personal preference though. I came from a phone with a slide qwerty and I always said I would never get a phone that did't have one. Well I got my skyrocket and guess what... I got used to not have a physical keyboard.

There's a lot to be said for no-look typing (and the improved accuracy that comes with it), which is virtually impossible with a touchscreen and effortless with a physical keyboard. Also, things like switching to extended characters always slow me down on a touch screen, but don't on a physical keyboard.
The Skyrocket is certainly the better piece of hardware, quite a bit faster, larger/better screen and obviously much slimmer. But the Glide's still a dual core phone with a Super AMOLED screen, and for many users it's not the kind of thing that would be a big sacrifice to get that keyboard.

Why you love your Mytouch 4G

There are allot of reasons I love my phone, but just yesterday I dropped mine in the fish tank! WoW I was worried about it not working anymore. Did the normal steps to dry it out. To my surprise it is fine.

Speaking of fish tanks, I went to sea world this last summer and sat in the splash zone for the killer whales and got drenched with my phone in my pocket. I wiped it off and kept using it afterwards like nothing happened. I was expecting at least my mic or headset to screw up but its been fine since.

I work outside and there have been many times I got caught in the rain. I'm not talking a drizzle, here. I'm talkin' Noah all over again. Never had an issue with water damage.
Ordered my Nexus 4 on Nov. 13th. Still waiting.

I've had this phone for 2 years, and it still works well....there are better phones out there now, but none are impressive enough to make me drop $300. Recently rooted it and installed ICS, and at this rate who knows when I'll get sick of it....

I had this kind of accident too. The phone works well after that. This is really a good phone.

It was 1/2 flushed! Sort of.

I've had this phone since before there was a root method for it. It's not my daily driver anymore, but I love the form factor and weight, and I love perfectly stable cm7 on it.
I feel like this is the last of the purist Android devices.

Because I slammed it in the back hatch of my car at the E. R. The 2nd day I had it. Right on the latch and screen and I only needed a new screen protector.

because i recently purchase my first android smart phone having good hardware configuration and custom rom support that's why i really love mt4g...

Its getting old but still kicking. I'm sure the battery will be the first to give up the ghost.

I'm on my 3rd one.

Developers are loving it even today
I love my mytouch-4g because the developers are still showing love for it. I am running CM10.1 on mine, updates more frequently available than the other most high octane phones.

This is true, cm10.1 is only in pre-alpha stages for both sgs2 and sensation. I keep my mt4g on cm7 though because I love "traditional android."

It'll be a sad day when we upgrade... Wonder how long we can hold out...

Me because my Galaxy S4 screen broke.
Will be rocking this until my S4 gets fixed.

Although I bought a note 3 few months ago I keep coming back here hoping for some kind of miraculous break through.

I still have my g2x in case anything new happens with development although I don't know how many devs are really left lol. The nexus 5 is an amazing device.....it would have to be something really crazy in terms of development for the g2x to make me get the dust off mine and boot it up.

It stood well the test of time. I've reclaimed the very first Android phone, myTouch 4G from my cousin. I gave him my Nexus 4.
Anyway, I compare the G2X, still solid and smooth. The myTouch is just slow painful to use. How times have changed.
The other day used G2X on skype and had multiple crashes and phone has become very sluggish at running more than 2 apps. This is on CM7. The display and colors are bright and deep black colors. In my opinion, its a great display.
My main is Nexus 5. Still my favorite phone.

Jumping ship and getting the nexus 5 as soon as I get a job.

- 50% of paint on metal stripe around phone is gone
- the back plastic plate that says "8M" fell off, I superglued it
- microUSB port looks scratched around the perimeter
- slot of the backplate looks uneven from billions of removals
will be 3 years this summer, still refusing to get rid of it. I will use till it vomits in my face.

Nice! Almost 3 years for me also. Don't feel the need to spend hundreds of dollars on a new phone when this does what I need it to do. When it dies is when I get a new one lok

I love this feeling - at school, I've always had the crappiest calculator, the cheapest books in terrible condition I can find with human genitals drawn on them, and getting all the scholarships and research grants. I love this way of being. I love how everyone gets their new and shiny nexus and apple, and thinking now they are ready to make some good in their lives. Your belongings have nothing to do with it.

Agreed, belongings have nothing to do with the person you are, but that doesn't mean you should limit yourself to your material belongings when it truly serves no benefit upon doing so. With that said, I f***ing love my brand new Nexus 5 =)
