Fast 4G LTE Speeds - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Last night finally moved over from my old iPhone 4S Data plan to 4G LTE and was amazed by the first speed test.

I ran tests the next day inside UNI buildings and other places and still seemed to get awesome speeds.
Has anyone seen these speeds anywhere else in the country on AT&T 4G LTE?

I didn't get speeds that fast but in San Jose I was getting these numbers
ping: 60
UP: 27610
DWN: 14919
Where are you getting speeds like that at?

Jeez, where in Dallas are you getting speeds like that? The tower I'm on won't go past 30 down, that is unless I go past the Tom Thumb near me, then it jumps for like 50-60.
Uploads are ALWAYS at 13-17 though.

I have found (at least in Dallas) that when within a few hundred feat of the to were the speeds are insane

I have yet to use apps that would display what you're showing, but I have a fairly good seat of the pants feel for speeds, and yes, I notice web pages loading like a flash here in Los Angeles. I am using the skyrocket all over the West side. From LAX all the way up the beach past Venice and Santa Monica, and inland to Beverly Hills and Culver City, ever since I got this phone I've been amazed.
I'm also on the stupid 2 gig tiered data plan and I blew the lid off that and get automated text messages from AT&T's system informing me of each gig I go over how it's costing me another ten dollars.
The guy I ride around with in a truck all day has a Iphone 4 (the newest one) and his phone browses faster using my wifi hotspot, than it can on it's own. And that's part of the reason I went "over" as I like showing off.
It's an expensive trade off. His 3G unlimited plan is SLOW compared to my setup. I ditched the unlimited in favor of the tiered plan because I like how fast it is.
And no I didn't put the tether/hotspot plan on my bill, I simply flashed CyanogenMod to get it to work.
I should go to ATT store again for more rejection, and see if I can't get a better plan, (but I don't like beating my head against a wall).
Yes. Fast. And if you use it, it will cost ya. A hundred years ago, Jesse James used a gun when he robbed people. AT&T has morphed into a monster with even less integrity.

Im actually south of Arlington in mansfield. Even up at UTA and TCU, I get good speeds. 4G is INSANE!

My signature

see attached.
San Diego, CA

In Vegas last weekend, I got up to 44.52Mbps down. But, my connection was extremely unreliable. Sat night, couldn't get any data despite showing full bars. Only started to connect after 2am.
Out in LA (primarily the west side), I usually get around 14-15Mbps down, while once reaching a high of 27Mbps in Hollywood.

Atlanta speeds
Here are my speeds in Atlanta from a couple of weeks ago ...

Wow, most of your downloads are better then mine, but my uploads KILL yours. I average 17-22 up all the time. I'll screenshot it when I get home.

I never get more than that in LA either.
And the speedtest app usually crashes when trying to test the upload.

I'm looking forward to LTE being enabled in Knoxville, TN. I know they have the towers up... just waiting for them to flip the big switch.

Infuse 4G speeds - pleasant surprise

I moved over from Captivate to Atrix to Captivate to Inspire to Infuse.
On all phones the max speeds I could ever get was around 3Mbps down, rarely hitting 4 (more like a lottery). Now, infuse blew me out with its download speeds -- averaging ~9 Mbps. Upload speeds aren't so great, but well, am no so much into uploading stuff all the time.
Posting this to make it easy for people who are thinking whether to switch to Infuse or not.

It all depends on:
1) If your tower supports HSPA+
2) If your tower has the "enhanced backhaul" - your speed to the tower means nothing if its connection to the Internet is bottlenecked
3) How many other people are using the tower at the time

yeah im sure how many other people are using the same tower affectes it alot. one of my friends tells me my friends infuse is faster because it has a older/diffrent "radio" idk. i always have the HSPA+ displayed. idk about the "enhanced backhaul" though
I have received speeds in Jacksonville, FL all the way up to 11MBPS as well.. under one condition (the same one that you are under)... It's past 9:00PM, with peak speeds at 2-5am.
I'm not hating, I love this phone, one of the best I've ever used.. but during the day I max out at 5MB, with an average of about 3.9MBPS. Not horrible, but not exactly a consistent experience!

Anyway what would you rather have, a 20 meg connection and not be able to talk on the phone at the same time or a 7 to 11 meg connection and be able to talk on the phone at the same time? I'd definitely go for to eleven and be able to multitask then having a twenty meg connection.
When I'm away from home on business my gf calls and i need to be surfing the web while she's talking or I might as well stab myself in eyes. Sorry verizon you lose.

This was my last one:
I'm in Utah.
That's impressive.
Sprint just said there was an "outage" in Houston.
Yea it sucks here in Wilmington. But in the last half hr got a little better. I believe the towers are over tapped out. They let to many other low cost carriers use their equipment that bog that is for premium customers. Once again the unlimited data of low cost carriers is killing the sprint network.

Blame the iPhone, Houston's 3G was fine until that giant POS came out and ruined everything.
I consider my 3G "working well" if I hit 200k in Dayton, Ohio. Sprint had also promised 4G in Dayton by the end of December 2010....I'm still waiting.
Cincy and Columbus have excellent 4G coverage - I hit almost 11mb down while at a Bengals game a while back - then I return home to my 150-200k speeds

It's everywhere around me. Charlotte NC, Atlanta, now Tennessee. I feel like I'm being teased.
Holy crap. I've seen around 30 Mbps in the Boston area. But 50 Mbps is ridiculous. Better be careful, at that speed the doors might get blown off your house!

I get around the same speed in Atlanta, depending on my location.
I hardly notice a difference in browsing moving between my phone and computer...it truly is amazing.

was there any telltale signs that it was coming? My phone keeps getting stuck on edge and I'm told that means the network is being worked on in my area so maybe...
Gunny I was on cm9 and it said 4g instead of h+. Went ahead and switched to cleanrom because I'm leaving for my honeymoon and boom there was a little lte under the 4g. Now I'm about to drive away from it but its for a good reason

Welcome to the above 50mbps club
I've been getting consistent 54mbps here. Its utterly insane.
I hate all of you. :-D
Depending on location the highest I got was 55 Mbps downloading in the New Orleans area, 25 Mbps uploading.

Was consistently getting 45+ in children's hospital in Nola a couple weeks ago. Getting 50+ in baton rouge too. Insane

That's crazy! I was in Nashville last night at Zanies and I was getting 15 to 16 down with 10 up and I thought that was blazing!
What good is speed when one could only use 3gb a month? I've been on the sideline thinking of switching to At&t but I'm fearful 3gb just isn't enough. I like to stream radio during the day, watch about 5 Netflix movies a week and watch one game a night of MLB baseball using the AT-bat app. Could someone tell me just how much use you get out of 3gb? Will I go over it with my usage?
I remember when I got LTE, I had one of those "**** just got real" moments

Unless you must absolutely do those things on LTE; you would be fine. On LTE, you'll blow off 3 gb on just 4-5 netflix movies alone.
Any of you Nashville folk been to Antioch to see how the LTE coverage is there? I won't be home for a couple of months, but I hope I'll have some speedyness when I'm not stuck at school at day
