First of all, Thanks to all HTC Sensation's Rom developers. We have quite a few. HTC Sensation is as of now one of the most supported devices…kudos to them...It is really appreciated.
I am just tester that switched from iphone(got sick of it) to Android about 1-1/2 to 2 years ago. I started with the amazing HTC HD2, then HTC Desire Z(t-mobile G2), T-Mobile LG-2X, and now the powerful HTC Sensation.
I have always looked for the best battery developed rom offered. For example on HTC HD2 , I could not find any better than Hyperdroid from pongster, or Virtuous on G2, Eagleblood on LG2X. These are just my modest opinion
I have tried about 10 different ROMs on my Sensation and so far the best I have found battery wise is Insertcoin….(as I said it is just my opinion). Insertcoin is fine and 40 to 50 % better compared to stock, but it does not compare to the battery life I was getting from Hyperdriodv11 from pongster (which with normal use lasted 1 1/2 to 2 days, on heavy use lasted the entire day). INSERTCOIN give a good 14 to 16 hours (normal use) which I cannot complaint about it, but o when I have heavy use I need to charge it at least once or twice a day.
I have only one Sensation and I have tested quite a few roms but no all. There are about 30 to 40 out there. I am posting 33, sorry if a miss others. I have tested quite a few so far would like to share my experiences, but I would also like other member opinions which may help me and others to make their best pick.
This a bashing or a pissing contest..it is just your opinion please be gently
I will appreciate your inputs.
Thanks

Too bad this poll hasn't gotten a larger voting result. I would love to see the poll with votes in the hundreds.
You forgot CM7 alpha 7.... ive tried a couple different roms and lees and mikes dont compare to CM7.
Not all SOCs are created equal
I have tried the following ROMs so far and have monitored battery usage on them with the Current Widget and logs.
1. ARHD 4.1.6
2. InsertCoin 3.4.4
3. Reverted AOSP
4. MIUI.us Latest
My best battery usage (lowest under 10Ma) is with InsertCoin's ROM. The other ROMs showed heavy battery drain(even without any other apps except stock), particularly with ARHD and Reverted AOSP. ARHD and AOSP use custom kernels unlike InsertCoin which uses stock by default. I don't however think the problem is with the ROM or Kernels. My phone SOC just cant seem to handle undervolting or any other kernel mods very well.
I love InsertCoin. VERY useful additions/changes from stock. I also love the speed on ARHD. Tough decision between the two but the battery life was the clincher so sticking with InsertCoin for now. I love the simplicity of MIUI but too many FCs at the moment. InsertCoin has been the most dependable ROM for my phone.
I am also going to try ARHD with some other kernels and see how that works.
Like I said, not all SOCs are created equal so mileage WILL vary. This poll is at best some kind of starting point for the battery conscious.
IMAO, CM7 is awesome, more than 1 day with medium use !

I've been using ARHD for about 2 weeks now and battery has been absolutely horrible. I cant seem to get more than 4 1/2 hours without getting to 25%. I'm going to try InsertCoin next. Can't wait for the ICS version on CM though!
Sense-O-Maniac Rom which is already debloated runs fast & batt life is awesome!
P3D is the best for me.

Hey guys,
I'm wondering what ROM is better, Runnymede or Endymion, what gives you better performance and battery life, which one is smoother?
Thanks
Endymion 1.1 much better for me

Endymion is the superior rom.
You dont need overclocking with this one even for demanding performance. While with other sense 3.5 roms out there overclocking is an absolute essential even for something like a lag free rosie... There goes battery life out the window.
Anyway, what kind of battery do you expect with 2 ghz oc ? Plus there are known kernel problems there.
Also how long would you expect to keep your phone alive keeping it overclocked like that...?
There is nothing out there with sense 3.5 that is even remotely in Endymion's league.
However, I do acknowledge that opinions are always subjective and everybody is entitled to their own.
So I'd suggest you flash both roms and try them out for yourself.
Firstly, you will get a first hand picture of which one is better...
And secondly it doesn't cost you anything except some time...
Which again is the least you can put in to try out two of the best 3.5 roms for your phone designed by Devs using their valuable time and yet offered to you absolutely free of charge.!
Hope this helped. Cheers.

I'm sorry but IMO the ability to OC to a higher degree isn't a benefit, OC your simply means burning more battery and simply shorten battery life. Anything over 1.5Ghz has been demonstrated and discussed many times to be dangerous for any prolonged periods unless you are intending to use your device as a form of central heating.
Using Nandroid Backup you should be able to install and run both ROMS alongside one another as well as keep the ROM that you're currently on all in case you choose to return to that....if you do please post back your findings and comparisons.
Has established Endymion 1.1? But sound improvement (Beats) does not work. How to treat? Excuse for my English.
I've only tested Endymion 1.1 for 2 days now and i'ts really good.
I've O/C my phone @ 1228mhz via SetCpu and it's very fluid and fairly battery eating.
I can't do anything but advise you this rom, very good stuff for me, but i don't have anything to compare on this device...

Irrelevent point, I'm running the HTC stock kernel with no overclocking (with some extensive priortising of non launcher applications), and I'm experiencing no lag what so ever. (Proxuser's Runnymede S)

better kernel support and its very stable.
Using runnymede with stock kernel no lags but battery drains :\
Runnymede is perfect for me. Speedy without OC, but I did it anyway. No bugs and battery last 2-3 hours longer than my stock 2.3 with Sense 2.1.
Regards,
Crwblyth
Runnymede better u can trust it
Thanks all for ALL the information,, REALLY helpful!!
but i think i'll stick to Runny,, and now they are updating to v3.2 and it has some good tweaks!
Change-log in Runny v3.2:
✔ new base 1.05.401.4
✔ Fixed Honeycomb lockscreen text bug
✔ Tweaks - Volume Key Screen On
✔ Tweaks - 5x5 Appdrawer
✔ Tweaks - Hide Navbar Text
✔ Tweaks - Volume Key Camera Shutter Button
✔ Fixed distortion for HTC videoplayer 720p playback
✔ rom manager support
Hi I've a question. Do I need the latest h boot to run endymion or runnymede? When I ran proxuser's ota 2.3.5 rom I kept getting bootloops. Or is this due to the hyperion kernel?
Btw I'm on revolution h boot s-off.

I understand those are the most popular sense 3.5, I now have Insertcoin's version, are there any big differences between them? should I give ARHD's a try? also if you have a better recommendation for another sense 3.5 rom I'd be happy to listen.
Between the two I would pick insertcoin. ARHD was just slow to me, and drained batteries if I looked at it weird.
You could try giving Senseay a try, heard good things abt it.

Okay so not a big difference then, thanks mate.

I find InsertCoin ROM's to be about the fastest sense versions. I also like the S3ns3ay versions too.
Both of these are followers of the Bricked kernel, which is probably a little quicker than the Faux kernel in ARHD. However, speed and power can consume more battery and I think Faux is working on a battery efficient kernel, where Show-P is a little less battery conscious.
I started out with ARHD switched to InsertCoin primarily for the amaze camera and found I liked the feel and speed of that rom better. I've since switched to CM7 selfkang 9 and am stuck in limbo as to what I want to do because I'm not 100% happy with what I have. Also from my experience both ARHD and InsertCoin have so many additional apps that I have no idea why they put them on the rom I ended up cleaning up the rom major after I installed it. I have heard that bulletproof is a great rom though. I may try that out. I'm just tired of setting up my phone after each flash.
Only you can get a feel for what you like.
InsertCoin and ARHD are pretty similar, others offer different visuals and features.
Nandroid is your friend!!
Try 'em all until you're happy. Just be scrupulous with your backups.
Different devs have different philosophies.

TaDa!!!

2nd day with IC and I'm seeing huge improvements in battery life (probably ARHD's 1.5ghz overclock was the culprit) I'm very satisfied with it so far, thanks everyone for the input.
Neither. CM7.
Everything
I have taken my Sensation on all the rides in the park and keep going back to my ARHD backup, the bugs i had aren't there in 4.1.5 so i think faux has had some success lately, my battery life is much better than it was in Stock mode. same factory battery. however not all phones are created equally and not everyone runs the same apps, i think the apps loaded are the key to better or worse luck.
Do you run it @1.5ghz ?

327 hours up time. Averaging 15 hours of battery life a day. Heavy usage.
I'm on the latest insert coin rom.
It's rare for me to not have a random reset with other roms. This one is flawless.
If ur having issues with other roms try insert coin

I used this ROM for Weeks...
Other ROMS (Im using RCMIX) are far better... same stable but more features and more spped ;-)
Same here...
Superb ROM. I've used InsertCoin ROM's for ages on my old Desire, so I had no reservations whatsoever about installing one on my Sensation. Absolutely superb ROM - fast, smooth, stable, sleek, sweet, what more can I say?!
I have noticed with every ROM that immediately after flashing and installing apps, it runs smooth and fast but after 3 days the application drawer , Sense Roise and menu scrolls start becoming laggy..
I used IC for a few weeks and it is a very well done sense ROM, and zippy too. But I found its performance was not as nice when I set it up for battery life. With the sense bloat it was almost necessary to OC which ravaged my poor power source and made my phone very warm after a short period of heavy use such as a 3D game. I am currently running CM7 alpha10 with similar battery life to what you are getting, but I find the whole rest of the experience is improved. The phone stays cool, is lightning quick, and the ROM is only 90MB! I usually have around 275-300MB of free ram. And even though some say it is fact that the camera won't record in 1080p properly, I have no issues! I can record as long as I like in full HD. I highly recommend the AOSP world of Cyanogenmod!

I tried Insert Coin, but Sense 3.5 roms seem to run like garbage on my phone - I tried two, IC being one of them, and they're laggy and have low FPS on basic tasks like scrolling through the app drawer.
I'm on sensation XE + ARHD 3.6.x + Bricked kernel and I never had any!! of those problems mentiend here on forum
+ getting 20-24 h. from battery!!! on average use (periodic wifi, 3g, allot of calls)
I believe sensation xe is not so "the same" as normal sensation and i'm glad I prefered it

it is the exact same hardware inside.
it has a higher power battery so stock senny vs stock senny xe. the xe will last longer.
Glad you find a combintion that works well for you.

I'm on CTDroid's reverted v1.1.0 AOSP/CM7 ROM it works well, fast, stable and reliable, plus I get over a day on my battery as well :-D
I've never gotten random resets on my Sensation 4G, used many roms, about 6 or 7 and they all work pretty well but I am using Android Revolution HD now, with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5
Running IC, i'm happy
Hey Guys!
What Rom is smooth for Desire S. In Gaming, Multitasking, Internet?
You can try ICE DS or ViperSaga.
Both works good for me.
Reaper is still one of the best. Fully functioning, blisteringly fast and stable
Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. ~Wernher Von Braun
Viper or MIUI - both are customable, smooth.
Sabsa Prime is probably the smoothest but it has still some annoyances on the camera and fallout tweaks, nothing big.
Viper is what i'm currently using, really impressed with it so far.. had to install tweaked 9.0 kernel so my wifi would function fully.. had disconnects with default kernel and lower performance on speedtest, same servers.
Haven't tried others that i would use daily to give you feedback on, only experimental JB etc.. i would check at least viper
if u want smoothness and multitasking ,, then cm10 latest build is the best option ,,as smooth as butter,, and a great multitasker,, great gaming ,,
i benchmarked with antutu (default cpu frequency ) i got a score of 3712 ,, btw im using viper saga ATM ,, so i can tell this is also smooth ,, but not a very good multitasker ,,

Speaking of which, amida have you found yourself a nice set of settings for that or are you sticking with default? Default doesn't seem bad as the rom is still pretty smooth for me but i'll take anything i can
Would give people some guideline values to start from besides default if so.
Edit: Bit silly question, the already existing ones should work well enough.. considering stock is already smooth.. can just go from those values.. nvm it m8.
I am not heavy multitasker so I am fine with the defaults
Sent from my HTC Desire S
For me, both Endymion and Reaper work very well.
In Reaper, there are some memory management tweaks- default cm7 and the Supercharger profiles of Balanced, Aggressive and Insane.
For different things you will need different sets to do the best.
eg. For multitasking and internet, you do not need the Aggressive and Insane modes, because they will kill your memory apps faster. But the same setting will be better for Gaming. So kind of different settings, which you can change easily.
Also, for gaming, overclocking will be better, but that is not explicitly required for multitasking or internet, though it is a plus.
You will have to play around the things for some time. And every device and user is a little different. What works for me, may not work for you.
Cheers.
