I read some questions about governors and schedulers.
Because I was also interested in it, I made some research and found this two threads I want to share with you.
[REF][&Tweaks] Kernel Governors, Modules, I/O Schedulers & CPU Tweaks: Siyah & Others
[REF] Quasar kernel governors and I/O schedulers manual
For my opinion they are pretty detailed, hope you enjoy it
Thank you so much! I was looking for some post like those to understand how governors actually work! Great job

I saw this thread today

And am interested in how governors work and and what they can do for my phone. Would anyone like to offer a simple explanation for myself and fellow n00bs who might not know what its all about?
I probably should have UTFSE

It's got to be wortha little look at my thread...
For kernel benchmarks and more, see here: my thread
there is no such thing as simple explanation, only thing you have to do is read that thread over and over and over ... then you will know
hello
i want to request from developers to bring gpu overclocking ability to optimus 3d.
i guess we need a kernel with ability of gpu overclocking , i guess the gpu of this device could be overclock for example galaxy nexus with omap4460.
i know overclocking is almost or maybe dangerous and i don't accept any Responsibility if your device damage.
i want from developers if they can bring gpu overclocking ability to optimus 3d.
please give your comment about my request
thank you
Wrong forum, ask in Q&A.
it's more request from developers rather Question.
but if it doesn't relate here ok i ask it in Q&A. apologize me.
thank you

hello
anybody has tried any kernel or rom which able to overclock gpu of optimus 3d?
thank you
Do you bother reading the threads at the development forum ?
but i don't know will gpu oc affect on performance?
thank you
What do you think? If CPU overclocking does, wouldn't the same apply for GPU overclocking, bar any stability issues?

thank you

Overclocking the GPU will not make that much of a difference. I believe the default speed is at 300mhz and there is a rom in this forum which operates the GPU at 400mhz.
There are lots of other factors that come into play, mem access etc. the increase in frame rate will be negligible together with the chance of frying the circuitry. Even at 400mhz (which would be a 25% increase) in reality this would probably result in around 5-10 percent performance increase at the max or even less
I find myself struggling to figure out which governer to use? which one does what? which is better for battery life? is there a thread with all this info?
Ive listed some of the options below.
lulzactiveq
hotplug
ondemandx
lulzactive
Your help is much appreciated.
It's going to be up to you. Every phone is made a bit different, hence why under voting is touchy because some chips can't handle it.
I would suggest trying all the ones you would like to and comparing your experiences.
Some of the new governors will shut down one CPU core when the phone doesn't need it like when the screen is off.
I will try to find some of the helpful links floating around here on our new governors and such

I realized this thread is in development, it will have to be moved but I could only find this at the moment.

My setup is:
Paranoid-Android v12 OS 2.54
CPU speed is 192 min 1080 max
Governor is: ondemandX
I/O scheduler is:SIO and here are some screen shots of a 1900mah Anker. The stats on JB are a nightmare and a reboot allows for a gain of battery so my graph looks weird. Also I don't think I had any voice calls that day so mostly just SMS Google talk and games

Thank you both for speedy responses. If enough useful info is gathered I will put together a "useful thread" on governers to help others out.

No need. This one is more than sufficient.

Also, take all settings advice from others with a grain of salt. Even those with the same device. All CPUs are different and can prefer different set-ups.
Moved and the thread quoted above was what was about to post.
As more and more kernels are made available to the public, the more the governors and schedulers... Although I can find info on some of them, there are many others which I know nothing about... I have tried searching and thats how I learned about some of the governors but about the rest? Can someone help me?

a 5s search gave me a gigantic list of governors/schedulers and info about them. is 19 governors enough?
Basically this was the thread that i found as well... But still thx
I wrote a long thread on Kernels, governors, hotplugs, and a lot more. You might it useful.
It has a lot of general information, not just LG G2 and since I have an OPO too there are lots of information on the kernel I use (Boeffla).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/test-t3032171
I would be interested if users of other kernels want to add something specific to what they use please let me know (eg: AK, Franco kernels, etc).
I just don't have the time to run around with all the kernels.
Cheers,
bloof
