[Q] Removing words from keyboard dictionary? - HTC Sensation

I am using Swype beta at the moment and really like it. My problem, however, is that there are some common words I swype which have alternate words associated with the swyping pattern. I am wondering if there is a way to modify the dictionary to remove these words I will probably never swype?

The way I did it was go to remove apps then click on swipe and clear data and cache. This clears all of your settings though. There might be another way though.

Thanks for the reply! I meant the default/built-in keyboard, however, for whatever language you select

Sorry. I would try settings / language in keyboard / touch input / personal dictionary / edit personal dictionary. Hope that helps.

Modify HTC / XDA Keyboard Dictionary

Hello all,
I would like to know if it is possible to modify the HTC keyboards stock dictionary. Basically I would like to force it to type "the" every time I accidentally type "Tue".
I am currently using the XDA version of the keyboard, and know that it is possible to edit the user dictionary.
Thanks.

x3, im sick of it trying to shove "OS" onto my texts instead of "is"
I think if you type the word enough it starts to use the other one.
Alright, to get to the user dictionary, pull up the keyboard and look for the microphone icon, it should also have a gear under it on that same button. long press it and this brings up the touch input settings. Scroll down to user dictionary and add or remove any words you would like. The nice thing with that is now I never text ducking to people........
Hi, I would like to know how to access HTC dictionaries too. I am currently deodexing a Gingerbread 2.3.5 ROM to try an d find the needed apk and all.
I am using a ROM which doesn't support French dictionary, spell-checking, or prediction (obviously you might say if there is no dict...) and would like to add at least this dictionary.
Could anyone point me in the right direction ? I would be grateful !
Edit : HTC_IME.apk from stock ROM did the job for me. Check my post here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521922

Install different keyboard?

Why is it when i install a different keyboard it wont override the stupid HTC keyboard?
For example, i wantto install the droid x keyboard, but when i go to activate it in the keyboard settings, it leaves the HTC keyboard as the main keyboard. Is there something im missing?
Long press in a text box and then release and press input method to change keyboards.

Try reinstalling if you get a force close. Go into Settings>Language and Keyboard and check your settings for the custom keyboard.

You do NOT have an extra keyboard called "Trace Keyboard" or whatever by long pressing. After enabling it, just slide as if you were using swype with the regular HTC keyboard.

I know what Trace is.....
After enabling it just doesn't work
Settings - keyboard and languages - touch input - trace keyboard - enable.
Then long press any text entry screen and choose "Input Method" then "Touch Input". Works fine for me.

EDIT : Okay turned out you have to enable the prediction feature for trace to work, without prediction it just ignores your trace inputs.

i had no issues getting mine working and i find it quite handy. i tap away most of the time, but in landscape mode its good for bigger words. i dont tend to use it in portrait mode much.
Hi
Just wondering if Trace can be added/flashed separately if its not included in the Rom?

Does anyone know of a way to append a space after the corrected word? This was how my old Nexus One handled word corrections and it was nice because you could just keep typing after choosing a word correction from the list.

[Q] Is there a way to remove the smiley key from the stock keyboard?

And the "globe/earth" key next to the spacebar? The functionality of the globe is redundant if you can hard press the spacebar for the same action.
Check the checkbox system default language in stock keyboard settings will remove the globe.

Where is it?
Click on Input languages. But I see you have multiple languages selected, don't think you can remove the globe with multiple languages. Try Multiling keyboard app from the PlayStore.

Okay, thanks. If I root my phone, is there a way to just edit the stock keyboard?
Or just buy SwiftKey

Not if you know how to modify the AOSP codes and recompile the stock keyboard. Give Multiling keyboard a try, I'm too using multiple IME and it fits my needs perfectly.
