Any books/classes written/taught on Android programming? - General Questions and Answers

So I have finally gone back to school to finish up this semester, and in one of my classes we are going to touch on Android programming towards the end of the class. I was wondering if anyone knew of, or could suggest a good book to help me get started now? I am very interested in this and I feel I could make it my hobby/job.
I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807392
Which mentions a couple of books, but does anyone have any other ideas? Maybe some classes I could take online? I feel as if a class would be best for me.

[Q]armv6l makefile for building aosp in armel debian?

anyone savvy got an easy solution to this one?

bah, humbug. I don't want to learn all about makefiles, much less the tweaky aosp setup, just to add HOST_ARCH support for armv6l in the aosp build system.
So, I'm asking for the easy way out, since google isn't very friendly about this one.
thanks for reading!
edit: sorry, mods, my first thread in general, didn't realize no [Q] threads in here. feel free to move it.

yeah, I thought this was a general sort of thing, I deliberately avoided posting it in a dev section of the forum. I saw the sticky saying no questions here shortly after posting this thread and edited the title to request it be moved so you wouldn't have to hunt for it.
sorry it was misplaced. not like I was trying to hide the fact it was a question or avoid having it moved.

Leapfrog LeapPad?

Does anyone have any good links for softrooting this device and were to get apps for it? I bought it for my nephew not knowing the apps were 20 bucks each.
its not android based, sorry.
and i google search'd, cuz i was a little curious, there's not even a whisper about porting android to this. :/ so, pretty much, you're out of luck, unless you want to post android to it all by yourself.
Kinda what i thought considering I couldn't find anything for it either.

Best Tablet for reading manga/comics?

Hi guys,
I have a Viewsonic G tablet and I love reading manga on it. I'm going to buy another tablet as a birthday gift and didn't want to spend as much since it'll mostly be used for reading manga.
Any suggestions on a $100-$200 tablet that would be good for this? If it also has a 'hackable rom' that would be preferred (I love vegantab on this thing!).
Thanks!

Thanks, I was looking for the right section
I did a search on all the tablets we have listed here on XDA-Dev and it looks like the only sub $200 tablets are the Kindle Fire and Nook Color.
For those who have used one, or both, what do you prefer? Or is there a sub $200 tablet that works well for reading comics/manga that I missed?
Thanks!

Onlive?

Has anyone tried this out. Thoughts, issues?

Its infinitely better quality wise than the other solutions. Grab one cheaper via eBay and give it a shot

handbook for android development?

Hi everyone!
Right now I'm practicing on eclipse and sdk android. I'm practicing with the help of some guide on internet, but I also like to have a "paper" where to "study".
On the first hand I prefer to study on the classic book and on the second hand I need an handbook to stdudy on when I moving, like when I take the train to go to the university...
Do you have any suggestion? For you which is the most complete manual? Thankyou very much!!
