im thinking it has to be possible since there are senseless ics roms with the aosp mms. i tried moving aosp mms from a senseless rom using root explorer and changing permissions but that didnt work. anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

I know that the Sense ROMS on Froyo and GB with their applicable Sense apps are wholely dependent on the Sense framework.apk. I was wondering if this also applies to the Sense Messaging app mms.apk?
I am currently running a MIUI 1.4.22 ROM and I really like the Sense messaging app over the MIUI stock, GB stock, CM7 stock, Handscent, Chomp, etc messaging apks.
Before I try to install a GB Sense mms.apk on my HTC DZ to replace the stock MIUI mms.apk which will likely result into boot loop after boot loop, and invariably screw up, was wondering is anyone has tried to do the same WITH SUCCESS?
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, any HTC app will require HTC's framework..this applies to the phone app, contacts, calender, friend stream, the Sense widgets, etc. I haven't tried to do this myself, but I could only guess it applies to the mms.apk also. Although, I don't think it will put you in bootloop if you tried and it failed, probably would just FC. For it to work with CM7 or MIUI framework I think it would need to be ported.
Hey Gentlemen,
I've been looking all over to see if anyone has developed a completely stock Gingerbread Rom. I'm tired of sense and just want some fast & simple vanilla android. Does anyone know of a Rom for it or if its in development ?
Thanks

havnt seen any yet but you might as well wait for CM7 like everyone else
CM7 - it's like stock Android, but better
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Very cool, will do. Thanks.
Any word on a release date or if they've even started working on it?
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/ is going to be the best place to wait and watch.
Personally hoping for just a straight up AOSP build. To customize off of. Just have to wait and see.
where can i find a stock gingerbread but with sense 3.0 lockscreen rom?

nowhere. the sense 3.0 lockscreen relies upon sense. and right now, there aren't any "working" (read: daily driver-able) AOSP based builds working/released.
So I flashed Virtuous Inquisition Quattro and Virtuous Inquisition. I preferred the later because I can get mobile hot spot to work. However, I like Trebuchet launcher more than Nova. So I took the Trebuchet apk and RW onto Virtuous Inquisition ROM. My question is where can I find the AOSP caller that is on VIQ ROM so I can RW onto VI ROM. They both have the AOSP dialer and contacts, but when you make a call on VIQ, it is AOSP caller, whereas VI caller is still not AOSP. Anyone know where I can find this apk.
p.s. I am not sure if I am referring to the AOSP apk correctly. I am assuming it is the caller apk, it might be related to systemui, not sure, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
extra info
BTW I am using sensation 4g android version 4.0.3, most recent VirtuousInquisition build 3.0.0.
Afaik, using the aosp caller screen you're referring to on virtuous Inquisition doesn't work (they've tried and have ben trying very hard). Like rmk has been saying, sense is integrated VERY reply into the rom and kernel, even into the very low level stuff.

Thanks for the info geoffcorey. I was reading through what seemed to be endless threads on both ROMS and could not find any info on it. Guess I will just have to wait for VI update for AOSP caller apk.
Hi, I was wondering if there was an APK or something with the stock ICS dialer for ICS based touchwiz roms. The stock samsung dialer on ics is very slugish. Same goes for contacts. Didn't know if anyone had the apk files from some ASOP roms that we could just send over.
Since TouchWiz goes deeply into the OS, unfortunatelly, that's probably not possible. Give Imilka's AOSP ROM a try - it works really nice and stable, and is more than easy to install.
i cant send and receive mms with aosp based roms like cm9,aokp... its stuck on sending.. and there is no data indicator in the statusbar
Is your apn correctly configured?

hmmm. maybe they require a proxy added/removed for the aosp/kp to work. you could ask your carrier to confirm what your apn settings need to be for your device.
