[Q] [S-Off] ChaCha and Carrier Unlock - HTC ChaCha

I've read through most of the forum, and I can't seem to find the answer to this question.
Does turning the ChaCha into S-Off mode make the phone unlocked? That is, able to be used by any carrier?
If not, how do I go about doing that?

After unlocking your phone using xtc-clip, your simlock should disappear and you could use sim cards of every operator... If you mean that?

I used the hboot tool from HTC to change it to S-Off.
I'm just unsure how that relates to the Phone being unlocked for any carrier.

The tool from htcdev doesn't turn it S-OFF unfortunately.
The phone it's still S-ON but the bootloader it's now unlocked and it allows us to flash custom roms.
So it doesn't have anything to do with the simlock

Well, then mine came S-Off, because I confirmed it by a restart holding down the vol down button.
S-Off means I have an all carrier phone, or is there some additional work to do?

The SuperCID (CID=111111) allows you to use any carrier SIM. The SuperCID is automatically set by the XTC clip when S-OFF is set.

Seeing as I don't have the XTC clip, how can I check to see if this is the case on my phone?
Is there a software fix to get the SuperCID if I do not have it?
I do not have the XTC clip, so anything pertaining to that doesn't help. Thanks in advance.

From market download CID Getter and check your CID. IIRC there are a few software hacks that sim unlocks your device (if that is the case).

[Q] S-0ff successfully using AlphaRevX but still networked locked ?

The HTC Desire S is originally from O2 with all the usual branding etc.
Sucessfully S-off using AlphaRevX (Windows 7 version) without any issues (no unexpected errors etc) however, when I tried to use another simcard ie. Orange it still says 'network locked'. Is there something I have missed after completing the AlphaRevX process ? I did complete a factory reset after getting 's-off'
Thanks in advance guys !
i don't think the s-off has anything to do with unlocking the network. I believe you will have to pay for that. You can remove any bloatware if you want though. You can use a custom rom.

s-off doesn't touch your network lock status - you need an unlock code.
Try searching the forum as I've seen other threads about just this very recently, you need to purchase an unlock code, either from your phone supplier or off the internet
If I was to use an XTC clip to unlock the network, now that I have AlphaRevX with HBOOT showing as 6.98.1002 do I need to downgrade the HBOOT back to it's original one of 0.98.0000 ?

I seriously wouldn't recommend using xtc after alpharevx, as you'll completely invalidate your warranty.
Alpharevx team are currently working on a software method to reverse your soff status, where as using xtc is soff is permanent
You can buy a network unlock code from least than twenty pounds.

I can't find the thread at the moment but there is a network unlock tool on the board somewhere. Have a search and I'm sure you'll fund it.

how can i unlock the desire s from network

can anyone help me to unlock a htc desire s. it is blocked on three mobile uk. thx
What do you want to do ?
SIM-Unlock ? make your phone s-off ?
To sim-unlock, there isn't much choice. XTC-Clip, but you will definitely lose your warranty. Better waiting official time to obtain Unlock code from your carrier.
To s-off, Use Revolutionary www.revolutionary.io. It only works with HBOOT 0.98.
Boot your phone with pressing Vol- and Power button and look the HBOOT-x.xx label on top of screen.

[Q] Phone does not ask for SIM network unlock PIN

Hi, I bought my phone second hand and it is locked to O2 (has O2 splash screen), however when I put in a different sim from another operator eg t-mobile it shows that I have signal, but does not allow calls/data to and from the phone and when I put in no sim it says emergency calls only but does not ask for an unlock code.
I have looked around and the only way to unlock the Desire S seems to be with the XTC clip or an unlock code. I'm more in favour of the unlock code as you can buy them for about a fiver on line, however I won't be able to enter the code if I were to buy it.
I have not tried contacting O2 as they are not my network so are unlikely to help.
Has anyone else had this issue? If the issue can't be fixed, does anyone know whether, if I take it to a shop with an XTC clip they could fix it?
Thanks
here's some extra details from the bootloader
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON

You can't sim unlock the desire s via software. You must use XTC clip. You don't need to buy one, just find a local store with an XTC clip where they charge you a small fee for sim unlock.

Oh........I thought I was following a path to get me SIM unlocked.
tonks22, is that not the case?

Conversion of Carrier Chacha to No brand Chacha - Remove customizations.

Hello. I'd like to know the required steps to convert a carrier branded and customized ChaCha to a stock one.
I know it is not just "flash another rom". I flashed the stock spanish rom in the spanish orange chacha and the keyboard layout is different.
Also, the apps that tells info about the device still show orange related stuff.
Does the CID relate to this??
Thanks all.

Saludos y cerveza.
Required steps to achieve this would be to firstly gain S-OFF, then obtain SuperCID. Once SuperCID '11111111' is written, you are able to flash any official RUU, including the non-branded generic ones such as WWE.
Looks like obtaining S-OFF is only done with the XTC Clip (hardware box) at this stage, although I'm unsure if the HTCDev unlock for the ChaCha will allow you to alter CID (I'd be highly surprised).
Changing CID is a few simple fastboot commands, but won't work until S-OFF is achieved.
Do you have access to an XTC Clip at all?
You could give it a shot at a GSM service/shop around your area. They usually have XTC Clips and an S-OFF is about 9-10 euros. He'll set SuperCID automatically.

If I S-OFF my ChaCha, it will stay that status for ever and ever, won't it?
Can I put *ANY* CID once the ChaCha is S-OFF'ed? Even the original one?
Thanks.

Thanks. I contacted one of the local 'liberadores' (unlockers) and I'm waiting for its answer.
