Dr dre Beats comp. iphone version and Klipsch ?? HTC or Sony ?? - HTC Sensation

Hi
I own expensive headsets for my iphone 4.
At this moment I give my iphone to my girlfriend and
want to use the iphone headsets on HTC Sensation XE.
- Dre dre beats Solo HD : will this work on HTC Sensation XE ??
- Klipsch S4i, wil this in ears headset work on HTC Sensation XE ??
If not working I could be a dealbreaker for me...
What about the upcoming Sony Experia S LT26i ???
Regards Valentijn

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Beats headphones if you care about sound quality.

Read the comments here http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/monster-and-beats-electronics-discontinue-partnership-/ . With the b & w p5 the middle button needs an app to work (jays headset control) and the volume buttons don't.

I read your thread and I don't own any iPhone or any pair of Beats Speakers yet, but was considering of buying one. So. Can you please argument what you said?
In general I don't believe any pair of speakers is worth more than 100€ and anyway I would never buy (because for my needs are more than enough) any pair of speakers more expensive than 50€.
That said. Why do you think that Beats Audio Speakers are overrated? Why do you think they sound crap? Considering that you can find the same headset included in the XE or XL on the Bay for about half of the price (around 40-50€ shipping included) wouldn't you recomend it as a good purchase? And why?

Yes, they are all overpriced to much. For more information please check Head-fi forum, they will tell you which pair of headphones you should get instead of Beats

I have Klipsch Image S4's.
They're brilliant all rounders for people who don't want to spend more then around £50 on earphones.
The only complaint I have is the little bud on the earphones come off a bit easily.
I haven't got the S4i's but the standard ones. But there is an Android version of the S4's. See here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...bine-great-sound-with-an-awesome-control-app/

I recently got klipsch s4a, also got comply foam tips. Quality is amazing. Hightly recommend it.

I can recall the S4A's were among the items I would have chosen if they weren't that expensive.
The review you linked is great...but indeed they cost around 100$ and even on eBay I couldn't find them for less than 88€
There are a couple of auction from USA which at the moment are around 50€ but you need to add another 30€ for the shipping plus the VAT which I'll be charged at delivery so we are back again at 90-100€
If you can tell me where I can find this headset for around £50 I'd be glad to have a look into it..!

I own the S4i's and they are easily one of the best pair of buds i have ever owned. Excellent range on them. I'm someone who loves mids and highs with bass as a supplement and not the main thing. (mostly because i listen to bands like earth wind and fire and such)
I tell people all the time, if you plan on getting these, avoid the app. The delay is so bad sometimes, it will mute your call instead of answering it or you may just miss the call outright.
I have heard there are apps that work better for headset control, but I run ICS ROMS now and they accept the button without need for a third party app. So I'm find with that aspect.
Mic is pretty good. I have yet to have a caller tell me they can tell i am on a headset or that they can't hear me. Sound quality on my end and their end easily makes these worth it in my mind.

Well...I can find your S4 at 20€ or less on eBay...thing is that I need a mic to use them as a headset..!
S4i for iPhone starts at 30-40€ but S4a for Android seems to be the most expensive and I really can't afford them without risking a divorce :-/
I can't find anything with a better compromise between price and quality than the Beats Audio In Ear ....if anybody has any suggestion is more then welcome!
Key points to keep in mind is:
- In Ear Headset with mic
- 50€ MAX (NOT around 50€: MAX 50€!! And the cheaper it is the better it goes)
- Possibly with a working comander control (play - pause - skip music - answer to call.....)
I just got the HTC RC-E190 for 19€...but I'm selling it cause the ear buds don't match with my ear channel...! Klipsch S4A's would be great but it's too expensive...

Hi I have an XE and s4i (black ones).
I can confirm that the beats profile is recongnized when the headphones are plugged in and play, pause work (with the center button) but not the volume up and down.
The mic works as well.
Quality on s4i is top notch and I actually prefer my s4i than the stock beats headphones (oval earbuds fit better in my ears)
Hope this helps.
As to the sound, I find s4i better than ibeats given with the phone (but sound is a personal taste)

Pickup a pairs of Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, AKG and listen to those yourself. You'll know the reason.
If you like to wear a headphone, buy Beats. If you like to listen to music, get something else.

Can someone suggest a good but a reasonable one at a decent price.
Looking for noise cancelling and black
Thanks
the ones that came with the sensation are really good imo
and i have/had the bose in ear and around ear, ibeats and Solo HD's
there really cheap too on like ebay. maybe 15 bucks, some are cheaper, like 5 or 6.
oh you want noise canceling lol..
id say the new bose around ear are good... but i'd look into other brands like Koss, Sennheiser, Audio Technica and Klipsh.
Never had any of them but I hear they are really good brands

Yea they are. I mean, if you want bang for buck you can look at the Sennheiser HD Series. They go for pretty cheap on ebay.
I really love the Bose AE2's tho... Amazing sound and I can never hear anything around me lol
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see what I can do
The bose ones look nice
They're not noise cancelling but the sennheisser HD-25 mkII are probably the best sound quality I've experienced from headphones.
They are what most sound engineers and DJs use, so they are designed to cut out a large amount of external sound - I have no problem listening on planes, busses etc.
Cheaper than Bose too.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-II-Closed-Headphone-headband/dp/B000TDZOXG
EDIT: you can pick them up for around £130.00 on ebay
I'd recommend the Sony MDR NC33, they are in ear noise cancelling headphones and you can pick them up online for between £50-60.
You could always try the Sony MDR NC7 which are considerably cheaper at around £20-30 but are over ear.
Out of the 2 i would pick the MDR NC33's because they give a comfortable fit and are awesome in general, plus they're Sony so they are well made and have a wicked sound quality.
I don't think you can get mobile noise cancelling headphones, i know you can get noise cancelling bluetooth headsets but not as headphones, i don't think so anyway. However, if you're looking for a quality pair of mobile in ear headphones with good sound quality, and well, noise isolation and not noise cancellation, i'd try the Bose MIE2i, they go for around £90 online.
Oh wait, i've found a noise cancelling pair with an inline mic, they are the AKG K390, they are for £73.26 on Amazon.
But yeah, i'd still recommend the Sony MDR NC33 if you intend on using them solely for music, or the Bose if you want a mic.
Hope this helps
Thanks guys for the suggestions I will definitely look at the Sony ones over ear, I don't like the in ear ones merely because after sometime my ears hurt weird but yeah

I got mine for $85 bux, well the V-Moda Crossfades LP (originals). If you are looking for a bit cheaper headphones, I can wholeheartedly recommend the SOL Republic Tracks. About 100 bux at Best Buy. Try them out and see if they seem good or not.
I have both the V-Moda Crossfades LPs and Sol Republic Tracks HD (HD is the highest model-also bought for $85 bux). And both are on par with clarity but the bass is there when needed. But the Sol Republic are a bit more on the bass-y side, but not obnoxious. lol
However if you are looking for cheaper than that, go with the Koss Porta Pro. Its bit retro, but its and awesome headset for clarity. (retail is about $35 bux). Not bassy as the beats, but they are moderate in bass but it's just clear as heck! Mine broke after years of use lol. I am talking about a good 12 years or so.

It was when it was priced like for $100, but $150, it's a toss up. I do like them, but look a little too bulky for me. The Vmoda Crossfade LPs are as bulky as I can get without getting to look like a helicopter pilot .

I already bought Monster Ibeat beats audio by Dr.Dre original that came with the hTC Rezound and Sensation with control talk etc. Just waiting for it to arrive
First tip: Different people have different taste. 250 can buy you some really good sounding products. I would recommend HeadRoom because they provide a lot of guidance based on price and taste and even provide you with cool frequency response graphs. Really worth doing a few hours of research over if you're spending that kind of money. At that price, good brands to keep your eyes open for: Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Denon, and Audio Technica.
Head-fi is a good resource but ABSOLUTELY chock full of opinion and voodoo. First thing to remember is that your taste might not equal someone elses, though on Head-Fi, nearly everything is taken as fact.
Final tip: Don't buy it if it has someone's name on it. This includes Beats, Soul, etc. It's not that they're bad per se, just overpriced. You can buy some hard hitting heavy bass headphones like Beats for much less. For example, the Audio Technica ATH-M50 is 150 on amazon and have a very similar sound to the 300 dollar Beats over ears.
sassafras
The ATH-M50 / M50s are great headphones. I would take those over any pair of beats.
The DJ headphones I use are Sennheiser HD25IIs. A bit more pricey, but great on ear headphones with good isolation while being light weight.
For long periods of use, I use my Audio Technica ATH-AD700s.
For IEMs I just Klipsch S4s
If you want to buy a pair of headphones. Let me know what your budget is and what kind of headphones you want (IEMs, on ear, over ear) and I can find the best pair.
Another tip- never buy a headset. ever.
If you want something good looking like the Beats with quality sound, wait for the P3s : http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Headphones/Headphones/P3/explore.html
If they're anything like the P5s, they're going to be amazing.

They truely, truely are. How can anyone favor beats? They're disgustingly bass heavy.
I got a pair of urbeats headphones free through work. Yes, they're quite bass heavy, but the sound isn't terrible.
What I'm really looking for is something with an in-line mic and controls. I really like the 3 buttons on the remote to pause, skip, and rewind.
Are there any other headphones on the market besides the beats that have a mic and the 3 button controls? I wanted to get the Klipsch S4a's, but they only have the single button control.
Is there anything (earbuds) in the $50-ish range that are any better than what the phones come with? I haven't opened the ones the HTC came with, but they look like the others.... a joke.
I only *rarely* use headphones/earbuds so I don't need a $250pr. I've tried Beats, thought they were very comfortable.
Also, if I could get a helmet on over them, that would be a plus.
I have two pair of breasts. Over the ear and in ear and I love them both. It's different for everyone though

if you want good audio quality for music, the beats are not good. rather get the htc mic-piece and use some good headphones from sennheiser, ultimate ears, etymotic and so on...
For 53 bux it's not horrible. The mic works fine and controls are good as well. Because they are bass heavy, depending on what type of music you listen too, you may like or be 'meh' on them.
I personally think they are ok, but have since replaced the earbuds with Sol Republic AMPS HD, but those cost a bit more than 53 bux. (I got mine for 85 but retail for about 99). Those suckers are clear with the bass where it needs to be.
However saying that, the Sennheisers would do the job nicely as well, but it's just personal preference!

I thank all of you for your input. I found the iBeats on Ebay for 39 dollars, so I went ahead and ordered them. They'll be here today, I hope.
Again, I appreciate the input. I am not really interested in AMAZING sound quality, I just wanted something that looked "cool" and enabled hands free calling. So if someone called while I was listening to music I could just answer and go... And was better than my 5 dollar ear buds from Wal-Mart. Haha.
The iBeats will be perfect for my reason. I'm not really a music head. Just listen when mowing the lawn, walking about, etc.

What's wrong with dr.dre?
I have used the full line of bose, but only have one pair that came with the amaze with controls. That's the only reason I have them. They aren't totally bad, just the name of "Monster" and "beats" makes it a marketing genius formula. Pair that with a known rapper/musician/producer, and everyone wants to see and try em. I know I have .
I have used clearer headphones/earbuds but I do have the beats as a backup.

Mine? Nope bought them off a person who had an amaze. So not fake.
Same can be said with most headsets out there. Bose, Sol Republic etc.. Just try some out and make your own decision.
I have Beats Mixr's which I use for work (DJ'ing) and occasionally on my phone as they came with a DJ cable and control talk cable. Love them.
iBeats are on my shoppling list next for the Sensation as I love the quality and sound.
Saying that, it all depends on the quality of MP3 you are listening to. I bought some Sennheiser CX200 last week for £10 (no control talk), however the music and sound is pretty decent for the price.

if you like plugs then you cant really beat the price of the skull candy inkd and if you want to spend a little more the klipsch buds are nice. i use Shure SE115M only when there is no chance of breaking them. the skull candy are about $15 w/o mic and $20 w/ mic and if you happen to snag them you wont be too pissed if they break.
V-Modas give a good thorough bass, but the sound, depending on genre, production, mp3 quality (I use FLAC), etc. For some better defined bass, not so loud as VModa, still loud though, but definitely better in terms of aural quality you could give the AKG in ear series (330, 540, perhaps 370) a shot.
Look at sennhiser - I had a pair of cx 300 ii which were unreliable and broke (got it swapped - same issue of one cutting out) but for the price were good sounding. A friend has had the same earphones for a while and I don't think his have gone wrong

I 2nd the Skullcandy Ink'd suggestion.
The bass is very good for a $15 pair of headphones.
JVC on ear, over ear,in ear. Cheap and amazing sound quality. Very deep bass and very clear highs. I have over ear for 3 months and I'm enjoin everyday my music. Professional DJ recommended them to me.

Since I thought I lost my cheap JVC Marshmallows over the weekend, I picked up a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd based on the opinions in this thread. I don't know what true audiophile earphones sound like, but I have to say I really like the Ink'd buds a lot. They have solid bass and good sound clarity all around. Thanks to everyone who recommended them.
I did find my JVCs yesterday though. Turns out they went through the washing machine in my pocket and still work great. I think they sound pretty good too, if you're looking for another inexpensive alternative.
I'm surprised that some people actually suggest skullcandy. They suck massive ****. They are incredibly overpriced for what they really are. They are simple 2 dollar production cost generic headphones with the skullcandy logo slapped on. They sound horrible and the value is even worse. If you're going to get skullcandy's you might as well buy generic headphones from a site like dealextreme.com.
If you're willing to go past generic take a look at some sennheiser cx300.
I'm going to link you a site that actually tests the headphones, not just on the reviewers personal ears, but with graphs of the actual frequency response and such! The site has helped me so much in determining what is good and what isn't with precision.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/in-ear.php
They mostly list more expensive headphones though you can always get them cheaper than at that store. The reason they usually review the more expensive headphones is because the graphs are aimed at audiophiles.
I had a set of Klipsch Image S4. Pretty good monitors, heavy on bass. I'd recommend the S4s since you're looking for lots of base.
Personally, I rock Etymotic now.

I am considering getting monster beats tour high-res with control talk but not sure if it works. Does anyone know whether remote control works fine on htc sensation?

I have heard control talk doesn't work. But if you can test it in a store and download Jays Headset app from the market. The app will map the center/answer/call button to control volume if pressed x number of times and can be customized.
But test out the headphones in the store and call someone using the headphones to see if the mic works for the phone. I have heard conflicting things.

Yes! Do I have the earbuds for you! I recently bought the Klipsch S4 buds and I love them! I did a lot of research before buying and they were highly recommended!

They have great bass response too!
Do you guys know if Klipsch S4 is fully compatible with the button functionality with HTC Sensation?
I'm also thinking about to buy them, I don't like the beats-hype.
Are these ears good for hiphop/[email protected]?

Just use the Jays headset app to map the button presses to control volume. The volume buttons on the S4 do not work from what I know. Only the center, answer end button and mic of course. Introduce the jays headset app and that should solve your probs. I mean you can get the S4a - made for Android, but not really needed.
As for hip hop/R&B it should work great. I have the mid range Shure SE215 and they are pretty good on the bass. The key to better bass in IEH is to get a good seal on the earbuds.

completely agree with the s4/se215, i can also recomend the mdr-ex310lp which have a pretty good bass response with the large driver they have helps alot,
i also have the se215 (i actually found the s4 to have too much sillabance though which is why i prefer the 310lp ) which are great but from looking at your budget they are a bit too much...
I finally have beats tour high-res working thanks to Jays. Only the middle button is operative though, volume controls don't work but they do on my friend's iPhone.
Bass quality is marvelous, only issue is it is a bit overpriced for a pair of earbud.

Headphones that compliment HTC One S

Anyone have any information on the sound chip that's inside of our HTC One S?
I'd like to buy a pair of headphones that compliment the audio features of my phone. Preferably "ear buds" "behind the neck" or "clip-on" models.
Mm apparently htc says beats headphones, I got some sounds good but cheap headphones (stock iPhone) sound good

I wouldnt want to waste money on a pair of headphones that the phone cannot drive to its full potential. So pretty much just looking for a pair thats an even match against with the phone can put out. Knowaddumsayin?
I don't think anyone can answer that without knowing your price range. For in ear, I'm partial to Etymotics.
Personally, I don't think the htc one s can make magic happen out of anything over $100 lol. So probably between 60-100.
The Beats technology inside is primarily tuned for the urBeats and Solo (not HD) (you select them in the sound enhancer menu), if it's what you are talking about.
But to be honest, I don't think you need "beats" headphones to get the "Beats improvements". I would say that any pair of headphones that can deliver high power and bass can do it.

Well, I know that Beats headphones will work great on the phone but you will still waste money on them xD
(You may wait and get them for nearly half (if not more) the price at the Boxing Day...........)

The beats headphones are good, but not worth the price tag. All they are, are fancy headphones which look cool, inside, they have the same parts as your basic headphones,
Beats Audio is just a preset EQ..
However, I like beats and i got beats headphones free with the phone.. but i most certainly wouldnt pay for them, The stock headphones work just as well.
I recommend Me electronics headphones, fantastic for the price and awesome customer service.they have many styles and qualities and get very good reviews depending on the headphone. Go to headfi for reviews based on price range.
Yea I pretty much agree with anyone here I use basic in ear skull candy headphones I got last black Friday for 10 bucks and they sound the same as when I plug in my cousins beats which he paid 79.99 for

I have a pair of Sony in ear headphones. Found them at Bestbuy for 40 USD. They have real rich sound and work great with the Beats Audio plugin. They also have an in-line microphone and play/pause forward/back answer/hangup buttons that all work on our device. I will try to find a link if you are still interested.
Keep in mind these have a real good quality if you want something kind of budget, they can definitely compare to my friends in ear Bose at 99 USD.
You can also get the best sound ever by using a 3rd party music app called PowerAMP. This gives you a crazy amount of control of EQ, bass, treble, stereo x and much more. As an audiophile I cannot live without it
Not sure where you live but the bestbuy where I live has headphones on display and you can pop the jack into your phone and test drive for yourself. I found some Sony studio style headphones for 149 that sounded better than the 299 ones. Plus some skull candy's for 129 that sounded even better. I know your price range, just saying price isn't all its cracked up to be when it comes to headphones. Plus if you know any audiophiles or DJs they will tell you beats headphones aren't worth any price they sell them for.

I have a set of Sennheiser PX100s. Luckily I got them a few years ago when they were cheap; looks like they've since been discontinued and have gone up in price. But I like them. I can't stand earbuds, I've never found a single set that stays in my ears. The PX100s are headband-style and they fold up flat. And they have good sound.
Also heard good things about Koss PortaPros, another under $50 portable headband set. Despite being over the head style, both these sets are small and compact so they won't make you look TOO weird if you're wearing them in public, although they might mess your hair up a bit if you're not careful.

or at least some part number.
I am using the headphones that came with my Samsung Vibrant, but the button on them doesn't control the phone like it did on my Vibrant. I am looking for a set with a button that will pause my music and also click to answer/hangup calls.
I just have a pair of $13 headphones, which come with foam tips and sounds pretty good.

Second vote for Etymotic!
I have found anything from monoprice.com to be amazing...their $2 iphone knockoffs sound better than any buds I've gotten with any phone and their $5 in-ears are even better. There are devoted communities of hackers who use their bass boost models as project phones and many audiophiles rate their over the ear models higher than phones costing 5 times more.
I know you guys are talking in the ear--
But, I have a pair of Plantronics Pulsar 590E over the ear Bluetooth headphones that have good range and nice bass.
I don't know how beats works, but no change in sound quality with it on or off--
