how to getSamsung Prevail to read in CDMA Workshop,

Beginner
I am trying to use CDMA workshop with my Samsung Galaxy Prevail. In my device Manager, it shows up under Android USB Device as "Samsung Android USB
Composite ADB Interface"
It also shows up under Modems as "Samsung Android USB Modem" it is connected to port 4.
I have set my phone to Debugging. I have hit "##8778#" and entered my MSL and set DM to USB, I have also allowed Mock locations, allowed to Stay awake, allwoed unknown sources. checked everything I could.
I can connect to it on port 4 in CDMA workshop, but it fails to read "failed...Phone does not answer" is the error I get when I click "Read"
When I hook my HTC EVO SHIFT 4G up, it connects and reads.
Can anyone help me?

i've been "phone hopping" for the last 2 weeks, & just came across the prevail. imho, it sucks. now, depending on what your looking for in cdma ws i may have a workaround.
What version of CDMA are you using?
It sounds like its not recognizing your phone.
I tried the brand new demo but it won't allow you to change prls
ended up finding a slightly different version at the thrift store lol
it might also simply be attempting to read the wrong port too
i had to play around in device manager quite a bit before it finally revealed the correct one
bought cdma workshop nov 2011. free upgrade until nov 2012. interested in transfering license to you, leave a private message
failed.. phone does not answer

I am facing a strange problem here. While i connected Sprint S3 for the first time, i was able to connect it to WS 2.7 by latching to the com port after getting in diag mode(rmnet+dm+modem). I was even able to unlock the set by entering samsung default password (while it was not getting spc unlocked) and then flashed cdma operator parameters. After the phone got reset, i checked for prl in the handset which was changed, which meant i was able to flash the parameters.
But then after that, i am able to connect my phone to ws2.7 by latching to the com port, but when i go to read or enter spc/etc, it gives an error "Failed... Phone does not answer". I tried removing the phone and connecting it again, changing the port, reinstalling drivers, but same issue. Request help from gurus..

[Q] Droid Razr HD XT926, CM11, Diag Mode, & CDMA Workshop

I'm trying to use CDMA Workshop to do a partial flash on my phone from Verizon to PagePlus. I can't figure out how to get CDMA Workshop and CM11 to play together nicely with me. At first I could not find the port in Win8.1 or CDMA Workshop, but then I found an online post on using a 3rd party virtual port program. As a result I did get a port (COM10, port 11008), but when I try to Read in CDMA Workshop I get an error stating the device did not answer (I think because it is still not in diag mode). In CM11 Android Debugging and ADB Over Network (for the virtual port) are on. Anyone know what I'm missing please? Thank you in advance for the help.

first, THANK YOU dragonhart6505 for your youtube vid how to install motorola qc diag driver for unlocking motorola droid razr m/hd (xt907/xt926). your words "hit vol up so phone boots properly" was what i was missing.
my problem was i wasnt really in diag mode. :crying:
heres how i resolved my problem. i went back to stock rom (4.1.1). im not sure, but i think i had to do this. i think nv mode is disabled by custom roms. that didnt resolve my problem completely though. i found out i wasnt really in diag mode (bp tools for my moto). i thought i was booting into bp tools mode. i did the three finger salute. i scrolled to bp tools. let phone boot and plugged it into usb port. no qc port (not even one that needed a driver). couldnt create a virtual serial/com port either using hw vsp. got a lan error. cdma workshop stated no answer from my phone. i could ping the ip though with no errors. all because i wasnt in bp tools mode as i thought! UGHHHHH!!!! after scrolling to bp tools, hit vol up (no dont scroll to factory reset). youll see when you do it. then i was able to manually install the qc driver. then i could read in cdma workshop.
the other thing i learned along the way was that with windows 7/8 (yes, and 8.1) the qc diag driver must be manually installed.
There is a thread about how to put this phone onto Page Plus over on Howard Forums. There may be a mirror of how to do this here as well. Also you do not need CDMA Tools to do this either. There is another thread about trying to put the phone onto Page Plus with the new 4.4.2 software. We have not been successful in that yet. If you do not have an unlocked bootloader then would work on getting that done ASAP.

[Q] Need help with CDMA Workshop 2.7.0 for Galaxy S3

I am trying to connect to my phone (S3) using CDMA Workshop v2.7.0.

I know my MSL number already but im just not having any luck connecting. Any advice?

Restore IMEI - Enable diagnostic mode

Hi there,
My sensation 4g on cyanogen 13 (android 6.0.1) by Ivanich.
After couple of weeks abroad on vacation using flawlessy my phone in roaming, the exact moment I got back to my country and I turned on the phone (after flight landed), my sim card instead of connecting as usual to my carrier could no longer register on to the carrier's network (I have signal / bars but can't register to network, hence can't use mobile data, send sms, call...). After running few tests and checks, it seems the IMEI automatically changed somehow (!!!!) from the one printed on the phone's box and phone itself and now the SIM card "rejects" the phone and can't connect (tried to insert other sim cards from other carriers but with no avail...).
Anyways, I got everything to change imei on a qualcomm chipset device (if htc sensation it were mtk it would have been way more easy) but the only thing I can't do is enable the diagnostic mode so to have the com port required to restore the IMEI... USing adb I try to reboot the phone in EDL mode so to download in it qualcomm drivers (required to enable the diag mode) but it keeps rebooting into regular android.... And my pc can't recognize the phone as necessary in order to then restore imei. Can someone please help me?
Just to make things clear: I don't want any support restoring imei (i know such threads are not allowed on xda) but just support on how to enable diagnostic mode. Please note that my phone is S-off and my bootloader is LOCKED.
Thanks

Diagnostic mode on n915pvpu5dqi5

Hello everyone who may still peruse this section of the forums. I know I have a low post count, but that's cause I normally find answers to my problems by reading... Today is a struggle.
I have recently aquired a Sprint Galaxy Note Edge, it has the n915pvpu5dqi5 firmware installed.
I have followed directions from a couple of different sources and have been able to get freezas Notedge beta rom with the Emotion kernel installed and working, however I'm still limited on LTE bands my phone will connect to.
My intention, and I don't know if it is possible or not, is to use QPST and QXDM to modify my NV memory.
I have reverted back to the original n915pvpu5dqi5 firmware, and I am trying to get into diagnostic mode for QPST.
I used *#66336# and set the CP Debug level to CP RAMDUMP ON.
After reboot I used ##3424# went to Qualcomm USB setting and set RNDIS + DM + MODEM.
When I go into QPST to backup, (using my MSL in the box titled SPC) it starts to Backup NV memory from phone, and it will get to 18% before giving an error that says "Could not communicate in Diagnostic Mode."
Can anyone advise me on how to get into diagnostic mode or if it is possible with this phone being upgraded to the latest bootloader(QI5), or is there another kernel out there other then stock that will allow me to get into diagnostic mode (I'm told a lot of the custom ones cut it out, why? Over my head...) to edit the NV memory and unlock other lte bands
what is QPST ? and what are you trying to accomplish?
