[Q] ROMs with swype - HTC Sensation

Does anyone know which roms for htc sensation include (or are compatible with) swype?
I tried flashing coredroid and when I tried installing swype beta it told me my phone was not an android device.
I'd really like to find a custom rom that improves battery life and performance, but losing Swype is a deal breaker. Can anyone suggest a rom with Swype?

I've installed Swype in every Rom I've flashed with out a problem.

If you have problems downloading the swype installer from https://beta.swype.com/android/get/ because it says sorry this is not an android phone bla bla...just make sure that the user agent of the browser you are using is "mobile" and not "desktop".

Hi,
The thing is to flash mods using the same base as your ROM.
If you check my sig , I have battery mods for ARHD base 2.3.4 and 2.3.5
Check with your ROM'S dev,to see which base you are using, and then flash the appropriate mod.
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL A MOD
For beats I installed THIS MOD ,because I am on base 2.3.5 using Sense 3.5
Or you could install ARDH 3.6.3 XE which contains beats anyway.

You can install anything you want, you just have to know what it is you want to do. Lets say you want to have beats audio (using the previous posters example). You know you have a stock ROM, version 2.3.4 most likely, so just find a beats audio only mod for 2.3.4 bases running Sense 3.0.
Or, as the previous poser says, you can install a whole ROM that already includes it. ARHD basically simulates a Sensation XE by removing the under-clocking on the CPU thats there stock bringing it up to 1.5 Ghz, adding beats audio, and overall just smoothing out the ROM. It looks the same as the stock ROM, it just works better.
The best thing to do is just make a backup of how it is now through recovery, then try stuff out and see what you like. You can always restore your backup and it will be right back to how it was before you did anything.
~T.J.
EDIT: Saw you came from ARHD. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. But yes, you can install mods without a full ROM.

Yeah I did tried 3 of the most recent arhd Rom, it is smooth and fast but has too many glitches on my phone. I tried installing the recommended radio it does fixed my signal issue, but after 3 days of using my phone keeps goin on a black screen when somebody calls me or text me so I decided to revert to stock

Interesting. Did you try turning the CPU back down to 1.2 GHz? I have ran 3.6.1 and only had one reboot before I switched to the beta kernel, never had any issues with 3.6.2 which came with the same kernel I upgraded to with 3.6.1, but I switched to bricked 0.91 kernel and its even better. Tried 3.6.3 and had a bunch of FC problems and issues so I restored back to 3.6.2.
Basically they all have worked well for me, but I've read of some people needing to stay at 1.2 GHz because of problems you have described.

I haven't tried restoring to 1.2ghz , I just restored my phone back to stock I got tired of trying all the versions and seems all of the versions I flashed had issues on my phone, don't get me wrong but I do love the speed and smoothness of arhd its just those fcs, unstable signal and not to mention the black screen issue. But like you said I haven't tried using different kernel I just used the one that came with the Rom and the other faux kernel that one of xda member suggested the beta 10. I even tried the insertcoin 3.3.9 and same issue with signal. I'm on tmobile carrier I don't know if that causes the signal issue with most of the Rom I flashed.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile also and have had no issues, thats strange. Did you flash the recommended radio also? Maybe you need to try a different one if so.
I really like the Bricked kernel, it runs faster/smoother and the battery life is better than the Faux kernels I used - at least what I've seen so far. I run Sense 3.0 so Im limited to Bricked 0.91, but its still plenty good from what I've seen. He is developing more for Sense 3.5 kernels at this point I think.
Anyway, if it was me, I would try one of the ARHD ROMs with a bricked kernel (the kernel can also affect your reception I believe). If you still have issues, try clocking it back to 1.2 Ghz. I too ran IC for a little while, but finally just settled back to ARHD for a few reasons.

Currently running ARHD 3.6.2 with bricked 0.91 kernel at 1.5 GHz and the mods in my sig with whatever the recommended radio is in the ARHD thread. I have no issues and use it quite a bit every day. I might give 3.6.4 a shot though.

Hi,
Have you tried a custom ROM with the original radio?
I know it won't be matched,but sometimes it's a needs must situation.
Use the radio that will give you the BEST signal.
It might just be that it's the only one that will work properly in YOUR area.

So,what combination of ROM and radio was the best for signal?
And with your current set-up,do you ALWAYS have bad signals?
Or does it vary from area to area?

[Q] Rooted cyanogenmod on HTC sensation XE but..

Hi guys sorry for any noob questions I'm going to post. Firstly I was successful in rooting and installing cyanogenmod 7 on my HTC sensation XE by following Viper's guide. I'm really thrilled by the speed and interface of the mod but would like to get the preloaded locations app back on it because I received a lifetime voucher in the box. From what I scoured from the internet it seems that the app only works using HTC sense. Is there a way to install it onto cyanodenmod? Or it means I'll have to reinstall back my stock rom using Viper's guide? If I have to reinstall my stock rom, can I just select restore using cwm, or do I have to download a "RUU_pyramid_*****.exe" and follow the guide to reinstalling it? Thanks in advance!
Locations only works with Sense 3.0 / 3.5
Its either you revert back to Sense 3.0/3.5 roms or forget about Locations.

[Q] Are ICS ROM safe?

I have been reading posts about ICS ROMS and it seems that there is no perfectly working ICS ROM yet. Is it true?
And if you saying that ROM is stable that means that you have no problems at all with it? No app forse closing, random reboots or sense misbehavior?
Sorry if my post didn't belong here or if there are topics about this, I would appreciate if you post links to that threads

i have been using the androidHD ISC rom with 3.12 firmware and the only issue i can see is that the effects in the camera do not work. but i believe that has been fixed now with the 3.24 firmware package. 3d games work such as shadowgun and dark, no apps have FC'ed on me yet and no random reboots either. just make sure you make a nandroid backup and just test a few ICS roms out and see which one suits your needs.............................sudeki300
i'm now currently on 4.0.3 with ARHD 6.1.1
it is very smooth and i have not discovered any bugs so far.

The ICS roms are certainly stable enough for daily driver. The 3.12 based roms had a few issues, one being the use of camera effects, this was causing the camera to force close. These issues have been fixed in the new 3.24 based roms. I can't find a single issue in either arhd 6.1.1 or insertcoin 4.4.3. I haven't had a single force close or strange behavior from any part of the software

I have flashed Virtuous Inquisition v3.0.0 this morning (on my XE) and I must say, it is fantastic and beats other roms out there in terms of speed, being stable, no FC's etc.
If you don't mind that HTC Sense (the launcher etc.) is missing, I would go for this if you are wanting to try out ICS.
I have tried ARHD, InsertCoin and the RUU before this, but they were not to my liking and I found them very slow and unresponsive.
Please note, I flashed the 3.24 firmware.
I am using Leedroid 6.0.0 and have been using all the other leedroid ICS releases.
My only problem is a fc of soundset on startup and thats it.
So yes it is safe.
Thanks guys for answers I'm using now ICS ROM (InsertCoin 4.4.4 thanks to baad) and my experience is even better than it was with custom GB ROM. I guess it's partly because of me using Titanium Backup correctly now xD Everything is working and no lags

[Q] Which is the best near stock ICS Rom for HTC Sensation (Not XE)

Hello Everybody
I am currently using Android Revolution HD 6.1 ROM in my HTC Sensation mobile phone.
I like the firmware for most part, but the browser flickering is annoying.
Eventhough i can use any 3rd party browsers, i want the built in browser to be less annoying.
Also i hate ROMs that deviates from the stock user experience.
Please suggest a good ROM or suggest a solution for the browser flickering issue.
Even Google Chrome Browser not working smoothly and is not yet available for me .
Update to 6.2.1 and the browser issue is fixed.
Sorry, i given wrong information.
I am using 6.2.1 it self.
But i haven't updated the radio firmware and have not installed the XE version and haven't erased data partition after updating it.
Someone told me that only in 6.2.1 XE firmware the browser issue been fixed.
But that required radio firmware update.
I'm pretty sure both versions of 6.2.1 required the updated firmware package as they were based on the new RUU.
So if you're successfully running 6.2.1 then you must have the updated radio etc.

If you have s-off, root and super CID, run the latest ics sense ruu then you will be totally stock.
This will lock your bootloader but you will still be s-off and you can download the superuser app for root privilidges and re-install a custom recovery.
I am running stock ics 3.25.401.101 from an RUU install and have remained completely stock except for a percentage battery mod and a custom recovery and everything runs very well.
As long as you are super CID you can always revert to any other stock rom using appropriate RUU's and unlock the bootloader again using revolutionary.

just rooted and S-off, wich ROM.... ?

I just rooted my Sensation XE and got it S-off. :victory:
Installed Rom Manager and Titanium backup (backed-up everything).
Now i don't know wich Rom i would use....there are so many...
I want it to be stable, i use Go Launcher instead of Sense because Sense had the ennoying problem it was closing to free memory when i was using a load of memory. In Go Launcher i can select it to remain always open.
I would like a stable ROM wich keeps camera, bluetooth etc....all working without problems.
In addition of this question i would like to know if i can just remove Sense true titanium backup from my phone without problems? (on stock rom or other ROM ? )
I hope i put this thread in the right section 'cos i'm not used to using this forum yet
Thanks in advance for every reply :good:
You should seriously try Virtuous Inquisition very fast and stable. It's running Android ICS. But I don't know if you installed the required firmware. If not, do so.
Oh, and it's an AOSP Rom and it's senseless. Everything works fine.

What are you all retarded ?!?!?!? You gotta go aosp!!!! CM9 is the best choice only retards and crackheads like sense overlay (all offense) lol
I must say that on factory ROM i was using Go Launcher because Sense got closed sometimes when I was using many RAM. Reloading Sense always took a bit of time wich I found annoying. The downside of using go launcher was the loss of the HTC widgets... Go contacts wasn't so good in my opinion. In my current ROM Sense didn't close once so for me it's perfect. It looks very beautiful and it's faster than ever before.
