[Q] About the 1.2GHz OC kernel in Android Development.. - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Coz Im new to this forum, i cant post anything in Android Development... so have to ask in here.
I have read the post in Android Development and saw the kernel is greater in KPQ rom. However i m in KPM. Although kernel should be universal, is it risky for me to flash it in KPM?
And is it necessary to factory reset first to flash the kernel?
Sorry for the silly questions...
Thanks!

Questions should be asked here. Yes you can and no need data wipe. I assume you're talking about universal root.
Cheers

If you are talking about Utter Chaos kernal then its for xxkpq. No need to factory reset.
Second if you are talking about universal cf root by amit then its not firmware specific it can be flashed to any firmware. No need to factory reset.

Why don't you upgrade to XXKPQ? You can also try out the kernels in XXKPM... if it doesn't work you can always reflash. Keep a backup.

thx for all of your support!
i ll try it out later

A guy i know flashed the Utter Chaos Kernel, i think the v7 on a kph rom and it worked, but that's a particular case, me myself i haven't tried it. Nandroid first if u r not sure!!!

i decided to try new things! ha
only one problem here.. my phone boots, but stuck on the ''samsung'' boot screen... does anyone know what's going on??
luckily i did nandroid the phone
i found that i flashed the one without CF root and failed. so i tried flashing the one with CF root and my phone can boot now!!!!
thanks very much once again!!

1st i want to say sorry co'z i made a new thread i cant help it ^^ ...
good day to all this is my 1st time to use this phone i bought this from a friend the unit is already cynogen mod 2.2 but i want to try the froyo version which is 2.2.1 because i encountered a lot of fc in my version
any sugestion ow to make start what file i need what thing 1st to do...
things to xda and to the person will guide me here
If you want to learn about installing roms read "Beginners GUIDE:Rooting a HTC Dream(T-Mobile G1) and Installing CYANOGENMOD 6 (FROYO)"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727688
As you already have an old Cyanogen rom, your phone is already rooted, so you can skip the 1st part of the guide (you may want to read it anyway for a better understanding of what was already done on your device).
Once you select the rom you want to flash, you can post your questions on installing that rom in that rom's thread.
Happy flashing!

[Q] Question, Gingerbread baseband?

I´ve been using gingerbread rom´s for a long time, but in the last days, when i flashed acura´s 3d max rom and then prometheus rom and kernel, when i try to connect to my network the phone gives me a message that i have inserted wrong pin and i have 3 more tries, the pin his right and this happens 2 or 3 times then it gets the network but it only works for a few minutes, and then it gives me "reorganizing internal processes..." message.
I´ve been reading about basebands and kernel's and stuff, but i still the same.
So i have one first question, i have on my phone information this baseband version: L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Is this the right version? Gingerbread baseband?
Thank you
I had the same problem after flashing Prometheus kernel I had to reflash my kdz to fix it

You know what RTFM means? Here is used RTFF...cause you have it all here. Anyway a hint: use Lg updater, go to customer assistance, emergency and recovery mode, put your IMEI and you should be good to go with the latest baseband.

But just as you click in the Optimus 3D general section you'll see 3 sticky threads: Firmware update, [TUTORIAL] Flash BIN rom, Unbrick, Update - Optimus 3d (Service Flash software) and [GUIDE] Manbearpig's guide to a smooth ride with your O3D. From all three I'm sure that you can pull out some infos. In the end... got your problem solved?

...The baseband version I see it on the last line of the "About phone" option from Settings menu. But there are some issues with some ROMs, for example I've used the Meemo Xplay ROM that, for some reason gave no info about IMEI and software version (baseband).
I restore stock ROM using suggested tutorial and now in about phone have:
Baseband version L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Kernel version 2.6.35.7+
Build number GRJ90
Software version LGP920-V21e-Apr-19-2012
Before this I have Promethius 1.5 together with battery draining and dont know if this is OK after flashing stock ROM? Can I install Promethius 1.5+ now with new kernel?

Stupidly flashed stock p3100 with OC kernel....

Does anyone have a packaged stock kernel that I can reflash my sons tab 2 7.0 with as I have suddenly become the worst Dad on earth due to the possibility of my tinkering losing his had earned game data! Doh!
It's running 4.0.3 and I flashed with CMOC10 without bothering to properly read the details as I hadn't clicked that it couldn't be f;lashed to stock, the phoen hangs at the Samsung logo but I can get into CWM recovery still.
Thanks

As touched on above, don't post in the Development section unless you're releasing something. Questions should be posted in Q&A.

[Q] SAMSUNG GT I9003 Firmware

*********THIS IS MY FIRST TIME ON ANY FORUM SO PLZ LET ME KNOW IF I COMMIT ANY MISTAKE********
i would love to use my phone on optimum level,so i finally decided to flash my phone Rom to
Frimware4.0.4 (Using Odin3 v1.85, latona_20110114.pit,ETC)
[Initially came with STOCK Firmware2.3.6]
After browsing some fourms, websites i did flashing (although this was my first time)and i was able to flash it.
(i am not sure whether i did it in correct manner or not) but phone reboot within a while,so i was wondering if
you guys can plz suggest me some other appropriate PDA,PHONE,CSC files which is much more stable.
so i can update the version of android 2.3.6
AND YES I HAVE ALREADY CHECKED OTHER THREADS BUT NO LUCK.:crying:
BY STABLE I MEANS IF THERE IS A BUG THEN THERE SHOULD BE A WALKTHROUGH
and yes i know bit of LINUX ,BUT THIS IS MY FIRST TIME I AM TRYING TO OVERWRITE MY PHONE

what do you mean by "phone reboot within awhile"? Is it that the phone keep rebooting itself?
well.. I am a newbie too but I have flashed my phone more than 100 times I guess, keep trying on XDA developers' custom ROM (because they are way better than SAMSUNG stock rom)
I think there is no such ROM as most stable or appropriate here, every ROM has its own feature(some might be laggy or buggy though) so the best way to find out which 1 most suit your needs is to test them out. You can read through the threads in Development forum, there are many ROMs there from XDA developers. See some review and comments to find the ROM best suits your needs, and follow exactly the installation guide then you should be able to flash your phone without worry
Im currently using [4.1.2] JellyBam ☄ v3.1.0 [AOKP.CM10.PARANOID] by Lolation, very smooth and kinda good battery life too
good luck flashing~ =)

give me some ideas

hey ive got a mf3 s4 that i have rooted but have not yet put any roms on. ive read about as much as i can on here about roms and such. i know that i have to flash the mf3 zip after i flash the rom in safestrap on rom slot 1 and never to touch the stock rom slot. i just need some imput of which rom to use, they all sound great. so if u have used the roms could u give me some ideas of which to use. i like shostock but there are 3 versions and im still not sure which one to use, and gravitiron is also a posibilty. ive read where the WIFI sometimes wont work after flashing and that there is something u have to flash to get it to working. so if it doesent work and i go back to stock will the WIFI start working again.. sorry for the long post,.
Everyone has their own flavor here. What may be good for one may be utter crap to another. We all took roms out for a test drive till we found the one we were most comfortable with. Unfortunately no one will hold you hand on here and asking for what rom is best for you is frowned upon here. Thats why we never compare roms to one another.
As I said you have to take a few out for a test run and see which you like best. There all AWESOME in my opinion. Go to each rom and read the last few post and you will get an idea as to what issues people are running into is all I can advise. Plenty of reading ahead of you, we all did it.
Enjoy the learning.

okay, thanks for the video.
help me understand this. So this is like you got 2 roms in your phone at the same time. and we can flash the custom rom in slot1 2 3. and keep the stock rom right in the phone. that means we can always switch from the original stock rom and the custom rom that we install at slot 1. is that right??
As stated members are expected to do the research and decide for themself which ROM to try. The only thing you will get with a thread like this is what everyone's favorite ROM is and those threads are not allowed on XDA. Please read thoroughly all the ROM threads you are interested in before drastically altering your $700 device.
Thank you for your cooperation
