[Q] Caller name in SMS and Phone - General Questions and Answers

Hi. I have a problem with any SMS App and Dialers, hope you could help.
(Note that I have searched lot for this on the net lot of people are reporting he same but no real solution)
In My country Phone numbers are 8 digits (2 area code + 2 Phone Number). Some area codes start with 0. I store the numbers as follows:03xxxxxx in phone book. When a message is received it's received with country code ahead of the number:ex. if country code is 876 then number would be 8763xxxxxx - (Att that the 0 is removed). hence the SMS app doesnt recognize the contact name. If I store the Numbers as 8763xxxxxx then SMS app will show the name properly but then the Dialer application wouldn't find the contact name since when receiving a call, the local number is shown without the country code(i.e 03xxxxxx).
I don't have the problem with contacts in area code not starting with 0.
Could you please advise where is the problem since I see other android phones(like Samsung) dont have this issue.
I have Desire HD.
Thanks

maybe it will help if you try to replace your phonebook app with some other at market?

Or you could go through your phonebook and have all your contacts listed with 2 numbers. One with the 0 and one without it. It's a pain but it would fix all of it.

insert contact number in sms ..how to do this?

say im sending sms to Mr 1 and i want to add contact detail of Mr 2 from my contacts, how can i do this?
its pretty simple in normal phones like nokia...
u need to open contact first, then view Mr. 2's contact details. Click on menu ---> send contact via SMS/MMS
there are several option on the menu such as call, send a message, edit contact, send contact via SMS/MMS etc
hth
no no u didnt get it..
ok im composing new sms, now how can i add someones detail/ number from my contacts..
rememeber im sending sms to Mr 1 thats not a problem... i want to add numbers of Mr 2 and Mr 3 from contacts that Mr 1 wants thats the problem hope u understand now
i've just edited my last post above, sorry my bad ^^v
unfortunately that's all i do to send contact to another numbers. I think that it's more complicated by composing a new message for sending contact details to another person (imho) well, u have to edit the contact details, and then copy and paste his number and another information to the new message
ok good atleast now i know how to do it i was reading and writing nums and then sending, really bad in rememebering numbers.
i think this is already resolved nowadays by choosing the insert text option when sending SMS. then choose contact and select the number. that's it

Complete sms integration with google voice?

Ok, I have dug and dug on this issue so I am turning to my fellow members to help me out a bit. On my wife's iPhone I have installed the sms and phone integration addons from here: GV Extensions for iPhone | SMS. This allows you to use the stock messaging application to send/receive texts. No special stuff is needed and it just plain works. What I would like to know is how can I accomplish this on my android phones? I currently have an Optimus V and just obtained a Triumph that I will be activating in the next day or two.
I strictly use Google Voice for my phonecalls/sms as I did not want to lose my cell number when I moved from AT&T to Virgin Mobile earlier in this year. So I have the GV app on the phone and I have it set to dial out so my # shows properly to the receiving party and I use it to send/receive texts. Well recently I have been trying out various apps like Iris and they only use the stock messaging app no matter what I have set in preferences. Plus lets be honest, the GV app leaves alot to be desired in terms of looks and it is laggy most of the time.
I know I can forward texts to email but that is just clunky at best. I can also send the sms's to my phones # via the GV interface but what about when I want to text someone that I don't normally text? I don't want to have to go through my entire phonebook and text people and hope they reply just to get the "gv textback #" that I then save to my contacts and set as sms default.
What I would LOVE to be able to do is just open the messages application, choose compose, select my contacts cell #, write a message, and when it sends it not hit my SMS at all but rather be sent directly through my data to GV and then to the recipient.
Is this possible? It seems odd that an iOS device can do this but an android can't. I know it should be but I know it may just be a matter of the right developer taking the time to do it. I would gladly pay the same price as I did for my wife's iPhone apps ($3/each) for this functionality on my androids. Anyone have any insight into this?

Sorry about that. I thought I put it in the most relevant location. Thanks for moving it though. Now just to see if anyone has an idea on how to do it!
Sorry - I don't have a solution for you, but I second this. I have been trying to find a way to do this for a long time.
BUMP
I really do love Google Voice and can not figure out why they offer a better solution for iOS than Android. Major beef with G over this, especially since they offer partnered with Sprint 6 months ago to offer more integration and have not offered the same option to other vendors or the open source community.

Well, TextMarkter.co.uk provides solution for any Google contact to SMS, you may refer to textmarketer.co.uk/software-partners/ as well.

email templates on Win Mobile??

Hi. I use Win Mobile 6.5 when on the go - to receive and answer mails. That works well apart from one situation - where I need to send on an email template. By that I mean, it's a standard email that I send to many folks - but it has a lot of detailed info on it. To have to type it out each time - is simply not on...not on a touchscreen in any event.
Is there any way I can solve this problem? I was thinking of having mails stored in the drafts folder - but then if I use one of them, then I can't send a subsequent mail?

Verizon Wireless and Google Voice?

I've decided that I no longer want to pay for text messaging, since apps can replicate the function.
Essentially what I want to do is, drop text messaging, and use Voxer instead. But I also want to be able to text the few friends that don't have a smartphone. This is where I think Google Voice can help.
I'd also like to get a new number, since my current is from my old home (I've moved). Is it possible to get a new number, but port my current to Google Voice in order to still receive and send texts to dumbphone friends without having to give out a new number? I can set up call forwarding too, so that I don't have to tell anyone my new number, but people can still call and text me.
Can this be done? If not, what are some other options I could be overlooking? I can't simply port my number to Google and go from there, my contract will be terminated. I'm grandfathered into unlimited data, which I want to hold onto as long as possible.

[Completed] Lenovo a916 not showing Contacts from Contact list?

Hello,
is there any solution to this problem?
I have all numbers stored with country code synced with google contacts. When someone calls and number is without contry code(local) it shows only number without name. I tried everything...erasing all contacts, putting in just one contact and when receiving a call it shows just number. When the number is stored local(without country code) then the contact is shown but it is not always like that. I tried also adding a line ro phone min match=7 but no effect. Android is kitkat 4.4.2 For now I installed CALLER ID from Playstore, and the name pop up great, but i rather see that it works without this Application.
The number is in following format:
+38641 123 456
041 123 456
Thanks for any help!
