Hello everybody. I've done absolutely everything I can think of to fix this issue and I'm not having any luck.
My wifi just won't turn on anymore. It constantly says "turning on", but won't actually turn on. Please help.

I did a factory reset and there still is no wifi showing up. Its almost like the wifi hardware just completely died.
I'm trying to do the eraseData truck outlined in this thread. Haven't quite figured it out yet tho.

I had the same problem when i tried to restore a backup. I saw that thread too...but I think in my case...the backup was not complete (cwm f'd up?). Anyway...I just did a fresh install of the ROM that i use, cause that was faster than trying to search for a fix.

I've been trying a fresh revolver install as well, but it keeps putting me in a bootloop. The only thing that even boots is my backup. I'm downloading the revolution super wiper and revolution and see if I have better luck with that.

Hey, just so everyone knows, the problem I had was that the Clockwork Recovery wipe was not complete. Make sure to use Revolution wiper prior to flashing a new ROM. I did that and everything is working fine now.

Is it possible that you may have changed kernels and then restored a nandroid backup from earlier? Cause it sounds like you have a mismatch between you kernel and the installed wifi module.
I would try re-flashing your kernel. This willreplace the wifi module and should fix the problem.

No matter what ROM/Kernel I flash to i loose my WIFI access. When I go into settings/Wifi it just says ERROR. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
With CM7.0.3.1, I have been using bcblends tinyrcu (available through kernel manager) and leave min/max as is (806max/245min) make sure you wipe cache/dalvik before installing the kernel...
Hope this works for you.

SD card should be mounted. It's only unmounted when I plug my phone to the computer to transfer files and such...
Same thing happens to me with kernels. Sometimes Wimax too. I'm using mik shift, works fine with stock kernel.

I have a regular evo with this same problem, tried 3 dif kernals, and upteen romflashes.... still have wifi error in settings
still no progress on this, i still have this problem... super gay
I too am getting an "Error" when trying to turn wifi, Logcat says " Wifi Driver missing" have tried rebooting, and flashing another rom. any help?
Well it's probably been said before, but here goes When you flash a new Rom make sure you do a FULL wipe. It's seems trivial, but not doing this can and usually does cause all kinds off issues. Also, you should check your WiFi settings, and make sure they're correct.
Full wipe has been done and what wifi settings are you talking about? phone settings can't be accessed because the phone can't turn wifi "on". is it possible to extract the wifi driver from another shift? i have another one at my disposal. BTW wifi was working a day ago no problem. i havn't flashed a new ROM in months and was on a stock rooted rom.
Have you tried to ruu back to stock to see if you have the same issue? Or nandroid back to a version where it worked?

yea ruu'd back to froyo, re-rooted and reinstalled updated radios, and am back to gb. any idea where the wifi drivers would be? thanks for the replies.
Have you just tried it from a stock froyo rom? RUU back to 2.2 and just try it from there. It should reflash all the proper radios. Maybe the wifi chip is defective in the phone too. It happened at work to a co-workers playbook.

+1 on that. Also if it was working then not. Something else might be up, are other devices able to connect to that WiFi spot with no issues? It is possible to extract the wifi driver from another SHift. But if you just RUU back to stock it should work. If not somethingelse is definately wrong. To get to the settings: Menu-Settings-Wireless & Networks-Wi-Fi settings-menu-Avanced.
yea went ruu'd back to stock, no dice. wifi just says "error" after "turning on", must be an internal problem. other devices work fine on this point. what would be the steps to extracting the driver from another shift, i have one ready to go.
If you RUU'd back to stock, and it's a still no good. Then you might want to consider getting a replacement if WiFi is really important to you. Especially if you know for sure that other devices can connect, and you cannot on a stock Rom. But you do risk getting an updated Shift. Not a risk worth taking in my eyes. Did you make sure and check all the settings?
Yea all the settings are good, it definitely seems to be an internal problem at this point. I'm weighing the options right now and came close to ruu'ing to gb to see if it solved the problem, but I just couldn't give up root.
only 2 things come to mind on what caused this, i attempted to update to the newest ota htc update over the stock rom, ( i know stupid, got the android + !) and i installed an app to transfer files over wifi.
Wifi isn't too important but I hate the feeling of not having my phone %100.
Same problem here. I just got a wifi-error running the latest shift-deck. The phone was brand new with a bad esn (planning to flash to a different carrier) and was first turned on 8/2/11. so basically 2 weeks turned on. This just happened 2 days ago. Cleared everything and flashed again. Don't know how to RUU or what it is. Anyone want to explain?
Ruu basically puts the phone back as if it were just out of the box. There is a thread somewhere here with the file. Just make sure you get the froyo version, otherwise you won't be able to root.

Sorry if this has already been posted.
My phone is rooted on stock rom.
It started freezing up and wouldnt send text messages. GO sms locked me out. I had to take the battery out and restart several times. Now i cant connect to any wifi. In wifi settings it just says error. Any ideas what could be wrong?
your best bet is probably to flash back to stock OS...i dunno if there is a one click for inspire
or you could flash a rom :]...this was probably a weird glitch that would go away with a simple full flash
Why not start with doing a factory reset?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I think he already did that, but if that doesn't work, try restoring your entire phone to stock...idk if there is a one click Odin for inspire like there is for Galaxy S models
Thats what I was thinking about doing. Will try that this weekend when I have time. Thanks!

There's a guide stickied to this section that believe has the link to the RUU, which is what you might try, though I think going the RUU route will unroot you.

Full wipe reflash should do it.

yep I would try wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe delvik cache and a clean install of the rom
Flashed CoreDroid didnt fix the problem
would flashing a new radio fix the problem?
Did you have any luck with this? Im having the same issue and debating whether or not I should flash back to stock to see if this resolves the issue. I have flashed countless ROMs since root with no luck.
My phone is doing the same thing. Not sure when it started doing it since I don't use wifi often. I wanted to check for updates and the HTC one requires WIFI be on, thats how I found out.
My phone is completely stock, with only Apps installed. Factory reset made it say something about connecting for 10 seconds or so before saying error, and now once again it just says error every time i try to enable it.
Hello everyone I'm new to this so here goes. Arhd 6.1.5 I would randomly get freezes ever so often I ignored however because I saw 6.2..I downloaded 6.2 and I super wiped. And flashed the correct radio. But I am still getting random freezes forcing me to pull battery. The freezes usually happen when I lock my screen and go to unlock it. The 4 capacitive buttons light up then It freezes. I don't understand why I keep getting freezes. Starting to happen more often now with 6.2 also I tried turning my CPU settings Down but still no help.

When you say you superwiped before install do you also wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and battery stats(just because lol)...do you also restore any data and/apps with tibu

I wiped everything since I had problems with this rom at version 6.1.5 so i went ahead and wiped everything and downloaded all my stuff again to see if this helped, but it did not work. I don't use titanium backup. I figured just wiping everything and redownloading all my stuff would work, I did have a backup though just in case it didnt work, so I restored that after I saw I still got freezes.
Have you tried other roms or kernels? I'd suggest Coredroid. I've tried several others and find it to be the most stable.

are you OCing or UVing? Have you changed radios/kernels recently? I know when I UVing too much my phone loves to freeze. I would say try a ROM that doesn't OC out of the gate as believe ARHD has there rom set to 1.2 I think? I know Bindroid keeps theres at about stock and is extremely stable.
i have a similar problem. can I set the cpu back to stock level on ARHD using OCDaemon?
I have one app that doesn't work and won't reinstall with this version. Anyone else having that problem?

Update: I restored my backup of v1.1. The same app I had problems with on v1.2 doesn't work anymore on 1.1. I tried fixing permissions. Not the greatest idea in the world. Boot loop after reboot. So I'm currently restoring again to 1.1. I'm not sure what to do now.

I got the Xoom back up and running. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but I get an error. It says Package file is invalid. Does anyone know hat that means and if there is something I can do fix it?

I tried installing other apps, but they gave me that same error. I restored an earlier backup of v1.1 and everything seems to be working again.

Have you tried doing a full wipe? Also, are you trying to install these apps from "Google Play" (ugh. i hated typing that) or are you installing from internal/external media? I would try a full wipe, maybe not only from recovery, but also from fastboot. Fastboot wipes > CWM wipes (IMHO). Also, I would avoid doing TiBackup restores between largely variant versions of ROM's.
Here's what's going on. I flashed an aosp rom(all I ever use). Didn't like it and restored a previous rom I had backed up(I do this all the time). After the restore was done or so i thought the phone just rebooted and wouldn't load anything past the Samsung screen just black and then reboot followed by the same thing. I pulled the battery loaded up recovery manually and tried another backup I had and same thing. I finally ended up going back into recovery manually again and loaded up a rom. It worked but now the phone won't wipe I forget what it says when I try to wipe. Iv since loaded up several roms with the same wipe errors and all seems good. Just weird. I'm using twrp btw. Any ideas on what happened?

Well, if you're GS3 is running then I wouldn't worry too much. However it couldn't hurt to make a nandroid, restore back to stock, and redo the STOCK>root>unlock>flash recovery>flash rom process. You may have messed something up along the way. Either way, happy flashing. PS: you should try out paranoidkangdroid if you love the AOSP experience. CM base with a ton of tweakability.
Anybody else ever experience anything like this?

A thought.... I flashed a wrong kernel once, I would see the boot animation, then black screen. Maybe you have a wrong kernel?
