Hi guys, I have just bought HTC ChaCha. I have bought it because I am a heavy texter and its full QWERTY keypad is a pleasure to use. But I have noticed that when you receive SMS, the window which shows the message is very narrow. There is a lot of space on right size which is not utilized. Earlier I was using Nokia E5 and I had installed iSMS application in it. I was able to set the window width to maximum level and then the message could be read without scrolling it up and down.
Can we do it in HTC ChaCha?
You can try installing another SMS app form the market. Perhaps it will have a bigger window for messages.
I haven't tested any of the SMS apps on ChaCha but I know that there are a few really good ones.

Hi, I don't know if a post has been put up, but I don’t know what to search for. I was wondering if any knew of any software on windows mobile 5 which will enable me to block specific incoming calls from my phonebook or calls as private or unknown numbers and sms/text messages.
Need something like this badly
MDA pro
This may be what you are after
I use Inesoft Address Book and it offers the functionality you require, except for text messages. The large contact photos and other enhancements are also very good.
THANKS mosgeo
Many Thanks mosgeo for you promt reply. Am downloading the cab version from the site. is this a full version?
Yes, completely non-crippled for 14 days. The bit you are looking for is the 'Incoming calls' menu item on the Today tray (bottom right, silhouette icon).
Incidentally, I found the Today ABC plugin took up too much room (and possibly slowed things down, not sure) and removed it via the options.

hi, is there a way to make htc messaging faster? or even disable htc messaging and use windows mobile? its slow when you have many messages it takes too long to open one message.. when in threaded.. thanks
i really like the htc messaging system, to bad it's so slow.. for me it would be cool if messages got deleted when the inbox reaches a certain number of messages. anybody knows if this is possible with some kind of registery tweak?
edit: to disable htc messaging, look at this:

Is there a way to limit the amount of sms messages viewed in HTC message window to like only last 10 so it stays smooth, through some tweaking

Do you use it on your android? What do you think of it?
I use it on my Evo. I like it A LOT better than the standard messenger because it lets you customize EVERYTHING about how you send, receive, view, and get notified by messages. I find it just as quick as the standard android messenger and (obviously) more visually appealing. My ONLY gripe about it is that it seems to have problems with MMS messeges sometimes (If it does, I just send the messages via the standard messenger)
Definitely one of my favorite/most useful apps
I've used it on my Droid from the day I got it, but since I got Froyo its been horrible. It force closes every few hours, and lately its been showing me the incorrect contacts on my threads.
Loved it, but not using it anymore.
It's good. It's not great because its support forums are just awful; hardly any reports have been replied to by a moderator/developer in the past month or so, and most have yet to be fixed (going back many months ago).
It is wayyy faster than the HTC messaging app in every aspect: opening the app, loading a conversation, sending a message, showing contact images, etc.
Are you gonna do something with these issues, davidandroid?
I love this app

Hi, is it possible to adjust or modify the Pop up Menu Windows Size? I currently have total of 6 templates on Messaging/SMS, most of them are too long and each are containing information that I'm planning to send every day via SMS.
Lets say every template has 30 to 100 characters, and when I'm trying to "Insert template" on the "Compose" field on the SMS, I'm getting FC on the Messaging app, maybe the app can't handle the massive character count on my templates.
I have tried the Gesture Trace feature for the Templates, it's working but it's not that accurate, sometimes it would mess up the composition field that it would insert 2 or 3 templates with one gesture that i make.
Right now, the method that I'm using is using a Notepad app, that i would just edit it and - select all text - and copy, that does the job. I really can't use of its features to share or send it via SMS because of the nature that most of the time, i need to send those info via reply to an anonymous number (not saved on my contacts).
So is it possible to adjust the pop up menu window on the compose field so that when i choose "Insert Template" it would display all of my templates? I'm thinking that those long templates are the cause of the Messaging FC.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I'm currently using Android NAND on HD2 (Gingerbread Hyperdroid CM7)
and by the way, leaving only 1 template gives me no FCs anymore... anyone?
Got what i wanted thru GoSMS, but would love to know if there is a workaround for the native SMS app. TIA!
Hello XDA community!
First, I am uncertain if I have the correct forum for this; I was debating posting it under Android Apps but it gave the appearance of being a place to get applications that have been developed, not to request for a particular app to exist. If it needs to be moved, please let me know.
Here is the problem: I've got 20,000 text messages on my phone. This is intentional. As ridiculous as it sounds to have that many text messages, I've found it to be a life saver. In one case, I saved an address from a few months ago that enabled me to bring comfort to a friend in need. In another instance, I was able to clear a dispute between my friend and my employer. Still other cases are simply nostalgic, and I know of other people who have used SMS threads as evidence in court proceedings. There is utility in keeping as many text messages as possible at hand.
The problem is that, once this many texts are on a phone, the messaging app slows down quite noticeably. Additionally, restoring from a Titanium Backup or similar can take nearly an hour to write the database back into memory. Having the texts is wonderful, but having them resident along with more recent discussions causes undesirable consequences.
What I'm looking for is an app that will copy messages to an archive and then delete them. For example, if I have 200 messages between myself and Alan, and he texts me again, I'd like message 201 to be archived and deleted. However, if Bill and I are only at message 28, that can grow without archiving until I hit 200, at which point *it* starts getting archived. Ideally I'd like this to happen in real time, but if it happened hourly or daily I can certainly deal.
The two ways I've kinda found to do this were either to make daily backups with MyBackup Pro or similar, or make them on my computer using MyPhone Explorer. MBP is nice because it keeps it on the phone, but one of the core functions I'm looking for is to be able to browse the archive as if it were a regular set of text messages - still threaded, time-stamped, and categorized by sender - just not in the regular SMS database. With MBP, it makes the messy situation of having to restore messages until you find it, which gets very difficult after more than a few weeks. MyPhone Explorer is a better tool for this and it can be searched, but it does require my laptop to do it, which is a bit challenging as synchronization has to be performed manually.
I've tried most of the add-in applications to address this; neither Go SMS Pro nor HandCent nor Fusion nor Chomp nor Textra provide this functionality.
Yes, I'm willing to pay for an application that will allow for this, so if anyone either knows of a program that can do what I'm asking or feels like writing one, please let me know.
I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.
Joey
I have an App Request too
An On-Screen Floating Object-Oriented Toolbar, with Back, Home, Menu, & Directional keys, + additional keys depending on active screen or current app
including a 'cycle-through elements' button then hit enter on the one you want to activate
things that can be done with your thumb from one small location.
then tap & hold contracts it into a smaller set of buttons
and you can select the number of buttons & their default positions for both the expanded state and the compacted state.
so it could be used to navigate around programs, select different elements, or used as a game controller, or keypad enhancement, or enhanced navigation etc
