Hi,
a few weeks ago I stumbled over Llama - Location Profiles. I really like this app and it works great for me.
But there was one thing I really missed. I wanted Llama to create calendar entries for areas I was in. In the settings there is an option to log cells but unfortunately there is no way to use this data. Besides of that, information about visited cells is not quite the information that is useful for this task.
So I came up with the idea to use Llama's "Android intent" action to obtain the required information. I wrote a small app that retrieves these intents and creates calendar entries.
I believe that the Llama devloper Kebab3000 has something like this on his agenda, but I couldn't wait
Since this is my very first android app I would like to get some feedback prior to releasing it into the android market.
I am pretty sure that the app should work on android 2.1 - 2.3.5 (I tested it the last few days and it works for me ). It might not work on android 4, since the way of dealing with the calendar changed.
There is a short in-app help on how to set everything up. I will come back and add instructions and screenshots when I get to it.
App is attached to this post!
If you encounter FC's please provide your android version, version of llamalocations2calendar, and a logcat-dump if possible.
Feedback highly appreciated!

I'm trying to configure it, but always when i fill the gmail calendar name, and press set, it FC's. I tried the name of calendar, also my email address...
what should be filled into the calendar name?
Hi,
that is definitely not an intended behavior.
You have to fill in the name of an existing google calendar.
Right now I can not figure out what could go wrong and trigger the force close.
What is the android version on your device?
It would be helpful if someone else could try and post if it also force closes.
I'm on endy 3.3 which is android 2.3.5. I created new calendar on gmail called work and this name I used, but still FC. Would logcat help?
Yes, logcat would definitely help.
My phone is running an 2.3.5 android as well and I have no problems.
logcat
Hi, here is logcat. It may be related to pdroid (Security tool).... But not sure.
I uploaded a newer version. Could you test it and provide me the logcat output again?
newer logcat
Hi, meanwhile i'm on cm nightly and 2.3.7. I used the v1.1 version of liama locataions, now i don't get FC, just error message: google calendar not found.
But i can access this calendar from inbuild calendar app, also from other calendar apps...
Hi,
unfortunately, version 1.1 I uploaded yesterday is broken. I am pretty sure I tested it before uploading, but well ...
I will upload a new version in about an hour, I hope that this will work again.
Best regards
EDIT:
New version is up.
FC again...
Here is logcat with version 1.2
Hi,
thanks for your patience and help.
I hope that I finally fixed the problem. I uploaded a patched 1.2 version.
Best regards
Ok i have no FC while setting the calendar name. But i got FC when sending some location, while in liama there was nothing filled in "Data".. It didn't create the event in calendar, i make som further testing and upload another logcat.
Hi, v1.3 might already solve the new issue.
Best regards
FCs on 2.3.5
Hi nmdevel, v1.3 worked on CM 7.2rc0 (2.3.7), but now on HTC sense 3.5 / 2.35 it FC's.. again while setting the calendar
Hi,
thanks again for your patience!
I hopefully solved the issue that caused the FCs. Stock HTC roms seem to have their own calendars with some identifiers not properly set.
Download as always attached to the first post.
Best regards
Thanks, no more FC
My hero. Been looking for this for a year. You made exactly what i want.
Gonna try tonight (@ work atm)

I'm pleased to announce the release of the Advanced Map Live Wallpaper, which allows you to show your position on a variety of maps on the homescreen.
Features:
* Wide selection of maps (Ordnance Survey, Google, Satellite, Terrain, Bing, OpenStreetMap, USA VFR and IFR charts...)
* Battery friendly - it uses network locations and shuts down whenever the homescreen isn't visible.
* Data friendly - aggressive caching means that you should only need to download a map tile once.
* Variable zoom on all maps
* Accuracy circle (can be switched off)
It's partly based on my original OS Map application, and draws on code from the open-sourced Rmaps2 and the AndNav library. Consequently, this application is also open-source, with the source available as soon as I've figured out how to use the Google Code repository (or you have have it as a ZIP file by email).
Notes:
This is a BETA release. I'd appreciate it if you could post any problems in this thread instead of leaving a low rating on the app. Ordnance Survey maps won't work outside the UK.
Right now, if you turn GPS on, you may need to select another wallpaper before it'll turn off again. You might also need to turn "Refresh Position" on in the settings page, which will be fixed in the next update.
Finally, I apologise to whoever's house is in the screenshots since I picked a location at random!

Update (14/06/10):
New version (0.9.3) uploaded. Minor cache fixed, force-close issue *hopefully* fixed, some general tidying up in the source. If it force-closes for you, try clearing the application data. Alternatively, enter the settings page, choose a different map type, and it should work. You can change the map type again after that. Hopefully resolved now I've remembered to close the database... ;-)
For those who can't find it, it's available to download here. You'll have to check for updates manually, I'm afraid, and if you keep an eye on the Market it should turn up eventually.
Update (16/06/10):
New version (0.9.4) uploaded. Fixes include landscape support and the really irritating bug where it would forget to load map tiles should now be gone.
Get it here (if you can find it on the Market, I strongly recommend downloading it from there instead):
http://maps.androidgamer.org/wallpaper/release/Advanced_Map_201006161712.apk
Update (5/07/10):
Version 0.9.5 uploaded to Market. Only major change is the addition of the Hike and Bike map as requested by a user. It should show up as an update on Froyo.
Also discovered the reason why it's not showing in the Market for Droid users - turns out that they don't respect the "Live Wallpaper" filter and won't show apps with that enabled in the Manifest.
Out of curiosity, is anyone still encountering problems with either the wallpaper itself, or finding it in the Market?
Update (4/08/10):
Version 1.0 uploaded to the Market. Major changes include the addition of Google Traffic and smooth scrolling between home-screens. (I hope you appreciate that, it took AGES to implement...) ;-)
There's an issue with force-closing on some phones which I haven't been able to resolve - no one has replied to my request to run Log Collector, and without a log I can't fix the problem. The Android Market is supposed to show crash reports, but doesn't.
Donations:
I've never been keen on asking for money, but there is a "donate" version to the Market. It's identical to the current release (which will always remain free) but it would be great to get a bit of reward for the hard work that goes into writing a Live Wallpaper.
It's only £1 and donations provide an excellent motivation for bug fixes and new feature requests. If you have the normal version, you'll find a donate link in the settings page.
Looks good, gonna try it out.
awesome
hmm interesting will try it for sure!
Even with the battery saving features, I can't imagine this not being a battery hog...
Wow, this is awesome. Thanks!
It would be really cool if we could get an overlay like: greenchairpress .com/blog/?p=1392 working. It's cool having maps, but it's not something I see myself using day to day. If there was a map alternative that was a bit more stylized that would be rad.
looks good. Just installed it. will let you know.
Not showing up on the market for me
alexland - is it possible to browse Bing Maps in that style, or does the Microsoft server have to render each mini-map on request? If it's possible to just get the tiles, in theory it should be possible to have it on the homescreen.

Me either. Bummer.
The accuracy circle bothered me on the other map wallpaper, thanks for letting us disable it. Are there plans to enable panning, or was that left out in favor of battery life?
Sick man. Thanks
Can't find it on the market either.
German Milestone from O² here...
Also, could you maybe add VFR/IFR maps for Europe in the future? Since I'm in aviation this would definately make it a wallpaper to keep =P
Thx in advance and before even having tried it,
Stefan

found on market, thanks... will give a try!
Clearly something is up, there are lots of us unable to find it in the market. I learned about this app on an Android site and the one and only comment to the article was someone saying that they could not locate it either.
This looks like a great app, but I can't find it in the market either when I scan the QR code.
I have a Sprint hero on 2.1
ok, so, i think this only shows up on froyo. I was running cyanogen 5.0.7 (2.1) on my nexus one and it wasn't showing up. Then I restored to a nandroid of froyo (2.2) I had and searched for it, and sure enough it showed up, also, the screenshots in the thread are froyo, or at least look like it, so that also leads me to the conclusion its froyo market only
Last Friday I uploaded my Android app Paperless List to the Market (UK only). It's a shopping list application driven by the Tesco API . It has the usual scan barcode and search functions but with some unique features:
-Horizontal swipe gestures (only on Android 1.6 or above) or context menu to cross off items
-Manually add items
-Total price of list visible at all times
-Using chrome to phone on the Tesco.com website, products and searches can be sent straight to the phone from a PC. This works on Froyo (Android 2.2) only and requires a sign in to the Tesco.com site on the PC. More on that here: http://ubikapps.net/?p=618
-Froyo (Android 2.2) apps to SD compatible
-Action bar and dashboard design patterns utilised for quick access to main functions
Despite using the latest Android features the app runs only requires version 1.5 (cupcake) or above. I know I am not the first with a Tesco app on Android but I started development on mine before the others appeared.

I'll let know how I get on
don't think this is your problem (can't see how it is tbh) but the C2MD thing doesnt work.
I just get
Error sending to phone: ERROR (Unable to send link)
I have checked to make sure i'm on the latest version on my N1 and Chrome and the phone is registered and i've signed in and out on the chrome side of things!
Anyone else come across this

Hi bewA, thanks for trying out my app. I just tried it and its working on mine (with Chrome to phone plugin V0.3). Chrome to phone goes a bit weird sometimes if you install a new version. Try restarting Chrome and trying again. Oh and BTW for the first time you do it and have to sign in, it won't actually send the link to the phone. You have to send it a 2nd time (after signing in).
Ill give it a slap
Thanks

Hey,
This APP is amazing for someone like me who constantly forgets to buy stuff, my wife has to write me lists which I usually lose or leave at home, Now she can send stuff from home straight to my phone, which I always have on me.
(That could be a major selling point BTW, you leave work, switch on your phone & get a list of shopping.)
Keep up the great work, it's nice to finally start getting useful apps for a change instead of another stupid Fart app.
just put it on the wifes phone, it didt find tescos own brand of dog food but every thing else worked.
Cool, gonna try this out

Currently it only displays the first 20 search results (for speed). If you search for "dog food" then there are probably more than 20 results. In a future release I will change this so that you can click on a "More" button to get the next 20.
You can always scan the barcode of the product if you have it handy!

Sorry I'm only an Android developer. Learning Windows mobile is not high on my list of priorities at the moment!
I have just uploaded V1.3 to the Market. Here's the full changelog:
-Keyboard hidden when search results displayed
-Search box auto-completes using history. Use menu to clear search history
-Progress wheel aligned better
-Low pixel density devices (e.g. HTC Tattoo) supported
V1.4 is in the Market. Here's the change log:
-Offers shown in search and list highlighted in blue
-Added disclaimer dialogue box about prices being from the Tesco.com store
-Bug fix: gestures at the bottom of long lists corrected. The wrong item was getting crossed off
-Bug fix: prices for low cost products (<£1) corrected
-Various force close issues resolved
V1.5 is in the market now. Here's the change log:
-Screen now stays on when shopping list is displayed
-Bug fix: gestures in long lists no longer cross of multiple items
-Bug fix: manual items stay crossed off
With the news of the impending doom of Delicious, I decided to switch both my own bookmarks and my development efforts over to Pinboard. PinDroid is a port of DeliciousDroid, an Android client app for Delicious that I was working on. Not all of the features have been ported over (mostly due to some api deficiencies), but basic bookmark syncing and CRUD (create, read, update, delete) functions are working.
Features
Background sync for bookmarks and tags
Bookmarks are cached to allow offline viewing and to reduce network traffic
Accounts managed through Android's built-in account manager
Bookmarks can be added in several ways:
A menu in the app
Directly from the browser via the "Share" menu
Bookmarks can be edited by long pressing and choosing "Edit"
Bookmark details can be viewed by long pressing and choosing "View Details"
Bookmarks can be deleted by long pressing and choosing "Delete"
Bookmark titles, tags and notes are searchable from both the global search and from within the app
Home screen widget and live folders
Code is licensed under the GPL v3 and is available on Github
Note: Requires Android 2.x (API Level 5+). Android 1.5 and 1.6 are not and will not be supported.
Known Issues
These are some of the known issues in the current build of PinDroid. Feel free to open an issue on the Google code project site if you encounter a bug/issue not listed here, or have an idea for an enhancement.
Only a single Pinboard account is currently supported.
Certain features from DeliciousDroid have not been ported yet due to limitations in Pinboard's API, including contact syncing and viewing network and popular bookmark lists.

Thanks. I'll look in to that. Do you have an example of a page it wasn't working on?
Any page I try. It was working, I guess up until the update. I've uninstalled it and then reinstalled but it doesn't seem to be working.
If it helps? Im on an HTC desire running oxygen 2 rom.

Seems to be working fine for me. I didn't change anything related to the title fetch recently, but two versions ago, I changed what field gets focus when you enter the add bookmark screen. Instead of the url field getting focus immediately, now no fields get focus so the keyboard doesn't pop up unnecessarily. The trigger for the title fetch is when the url field loses focus, so if you never click in to the url field and then click in to another field, it will never trigger the title fetch. I thought I had something in there to force it to start as soon as you enter that screen if the url is already filled, but I guess I'll have to add that.
Anyways, try that and see if that's the issue: share a page, click the url field to focus it, then click into a different field to trigger the title fetch. If that's it then I'll push out an update later today that triggers it immediately instead.
Ah yes that works as you said but i have to have to click the URL field first. I usually would have just clicked on the tags field as there was no reason to edit the URL field.
Thanks for the help.
I've noticed another change and I'm not sure whether its intentional or not but when I used to save a bookmark this way I got a little pop up visual confirmation saying that the bookmark added was successful / unsuccessful. This doesn't seem to happen anymore. I thought it was really useful.
Thanks for your hard work by the way. This is a great app and is essential pinboard compliment.

I just pushed a new version with the title fetch fix. Thanks for the bug report.
In the last version I made some changes to the bookmark saving process to make it a little more streamlined. Instead of blocking while the server request is made, the save bookmark activity now runs that in the background and returns immediately after updating the internal database. If you see nothing, everything worked fine. If there was an error, you'll get a notification in the notification bar telling you there was an error. Clicking on the notification lets you try to save it again, or revert the changes to the database (to keep everything consistent). The goal is just to make everything more seamless.
Ah yes the new notification system is a better idea than what you had before.
Thanks very much for the update/fix. Its very kind of you. I can confirm its working great.
[NOTE: This information was passed to me by an anonymous source.]
***Thanks also to Joeykrim for helping me verify a few things on how this works - and for testing it out***
A lot of people have removed the due to not knowing what it did, and concern over the "big brother" possibility. Here is EXACTLY what the app is for, and how we in the dev community can utilize it. I have included the file for you to reinstall as needed. Installing it into /system/app will autoload it for you.
It's purpose is to provide logging of various aspects of the device when you're having issues, and help you identify exactly where those issues are occurring. This includes:
dumpstate (bug report)
dumpsys
Device logs
Radio logs
Events log
Kernel log
To use it:
Dial *#*#HTCLOG#*#* (*#*#482564#*#*)
You're presented with 3 options (Collect Log Files, Snapshot Report, System Loggers)

}
- Collect Log Files gives you options to move the log files to the SD card
- Snapshot Report let's you run "dumpstate" and "dumpsys"
- System Loggers gives you some options
- Device Logger
- Radio Logger
- Events Logger
- Kernel Logger
Enable the logs you want, then enable "Auto Start Logging"
- you need to do this in order to have the logs start
-
Hit the "Back" key twice to return to the home screen
Reboot and then wait for the issue to reproduce
When the issue does occur make note of what time the issue occured
Copy the logs off of your SD card and and find the time the issue occured and begin to analyze what was happening
When you're done, don't forget to go back into the HTC Logging and disable logging
Reboot to clear the HTC Logging auto start
I installed and pushed the dialer code on cm7 rc0 and it ran. I wonder if this would help the devs with accessing the radio thru a dialer code and app in AOSP, like htc uses? Its the app itself that responds to dialer codes.
Nice find i always wonder the hell was the apk for

No problem. Me too - and figured others could use it.
Wow nice, no more adb logcat for some things, thanks
Well I tried it on a HTC MyTouch 3G 1.2(Magic) running Cyanogenmod 6.1(2.2.1) and could not get it to work. When I entered the last star in the sequence, the screen went black and then back to the dialer. Any ideals?
Ok it just automatically rebooted, removing apk.

Yeah this is in EVO 4G for a reason. On new versions of HTC phones they will probably have this - but right now it's only the EVO that does.
Hax Chat is the culmination of quite a few weeks of work, and ideas I have;nt been able to get rid of for months.
It is a very early app, but it's to the point where I need to get a wider user base to really put it through its paces.
Hax Chat is a chat client based 100% on the Parse framework. If you're a developer and haven't heard of Parse yet, I highly recommend looking it up. It's an amazing powerful tool. Hax Chat uses their "Users" for tracking and keeping track of unique users and handling their logins, it uses their "Client Push" to send the chats, and it uses their cloud based storage to store friends lists, profile info, etc. The only thing that is not stored in parses cloud are the actual chats themselves. Those are stored on the device itself for security reasons.
A few notable feature of Hax Chat.
-Full, secure login system using Parse's user framework
-Real time notifications of chat using push notifications supplied by the Parse framework
-Expandable notifications (JB+)
-Custom friends
-Private messages and private chat "rooms"
-Multiple device management, nicknames on a per device basis. Ex, r2Tab, r2Nexus4, etc.
-Tablet support (Uses dual pane setup whenever possible.)
As always, my apps are 100% open sourced.

I started a log app. Hit record. Pressed home. Loaded haxchat. I was logged in. My keyboard popped up and an empty bar to type in. I typed 'Are we live?' pressed enter, freeze a few secs... FC popup. Loaded log app, hit stop record.

Thanks, got it fixed in the code.
For some reason, you didnt have a deviceNick. It should have set you up with one when you first signed in, but for whatever reason it didnt. Just fixed it to try the deviceNick and then fallback to the username.
New update is live. Source update should be live as well.
For those who signed up in the last beta, you'll have to do it again. I had to reset the user database when I updated the parse framework.
Been hard at work on an update I'm hoping to get out this weekend. screenie here.
Also includes the awesome slidingmenu library that Falcon and all those other apps are using.
New update is live! Now supports allt he way back to gingerbread, so if you werent able to give ti a shot before, try it now and lemme know what you think!
