I'm using the new venom ROM. I've tried buoyancy, nexusmod, and super stock. I like venom so far. I'll probably switch before to long. That's the beauty of Android - lots to choose from.

personal preference my friend. Try a couple out and see which one you like
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

Agreed, you have to try some out and pick your favorite. If you ask 20 people on this section by PM randomly I bet you'd get at least 5-6 different answers.
SkyICS + Venom depending on your personal taste get my vote right now for multiple reasons, but the biggest being support and production. A vast majority of the roms that have come out for this phone have never/rarely been updated (no offense intended, people have lives, things happen, you get new phones, etc...).

Often, the stock ROM is the best since at least all the phone's capabilities are accounted for. More often, a rooted stock ROM is better since you can freeze bloatware, get around tethering restrictions and the like. Beyond that, it's kind of up to you to do your homework to make sure that a particular ROM does everything you need it to do (Bluetooth streaming, both cameras work, etc) and that you like the layout.

On a side note......
Q: What's the best way not to spam the board?
A: You don't post the same question in multiple sections.
Please don't do it again. Thank you.

Running venom right now and very pleased.

If you enjoy a nice, clean, look, I'd check out NeXuSMOD 2.0. It does everything I need it to do, and it's very easy on the eyes. Solid battery life as well.

I've been enjoying Ice Cream Sandwich - Multiple Flavors. While I'm tempted to try some of the other ROMs out there, this one is really great.
It's the overclocked version, I scored a AnTuTu benchmark of 7284.

Does anybody when and or when I can drop Android 4.0.x on my baby?

Well to be honest there are tons of threads that can answer your question. The answer that i know is Sammy said they will release 4.0 for all galaxy variants in first quarter of this year and they said this back in December and have not heard any fixed time period since than.

Guy this question has been asked a thousand times with a thousand different answers. There is no top or stable ROM, they are ALL GREAT. Only what you feel best using and your needs of it. Try a few on for size and see what works for you and feels best for you. Coredroid for a stock look or absolution 3.7 for a no sense. But then these are my favorites but watch how many more responses you get till you get closed.

Look, I use my phone as a work phone (so I need an amount of stability), and I find aospx AR28 stable enough for a daily (that said, AR26 saw fewer freezes and reboots, food for though).
However, if you need camcorder, aospx (any ICS?) isn't for you.

Well lets start with congrats man on getting an Inspire. The Inspire community is awesome and there is a constant flow of great work being done by the amazing devs here. First, please search. I don't mean to come off as a jerk but it is part of the rules you agreed to when you signed up and literally if you searched "best rom" or "stable rom" you would most likely see what we have all been telling you and that is: There is no best stable ROM. Every ROM has its issues. What one person swears by another person won't. Only you know what you're willing to live with and live without. Try some ROMs out and see what works best. Here are my recommendations but they are by no means an all inclusive list of "best ROMs", just my personal preference.
Sense 3.5 = Bindroid
Basically stock = Cleardroid
AOSP/CM = Absolution
ICS = Redemption or Melchizedek
if i could stay on one rom long enough to find out if it's stable or not would be a great thing. stupid ROM A.D.D.

Like others said before there are tons of roms in the developer section of the xda/inspire4g.
Welcome to the freedom of android. The best thing about rooting is the personalization. You can find just about any theme, os, app, or widget you can imagine.
Start with the ace hack kit, read the effin manual (that's what its called) do some reading on the available roms, download from the site or open up rom manager (if available) flash from rom manager.
Which ever rom you choose remember read the first post on the dev thread back and forth up and down. Once you do that...... read it again. All the important info you need for that rom is in the first post.
If you have questions on terms or what something is. Just Google said something followed by xda htc inspire 4g and you should find exactly what your looking for.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

As stated none can tell you what rom will work best or be the most stable on your device and your set up. Even stock roms have bugs. It is just something you live with or dig in and try to fix when you own a smart phone.
Just pay attention to the OP of each thread and so the proper research and you will be fine.

[Feeler] Flash and forget ROM?

I'm thinking of building a ROM of sorts, and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in it.
The ROM would basically be what i run on a daily basis. A combination of a ROM and Kernel that work well together, with my own tweaks, changes, and settings baked right into it.
The idea would be that you would flash the rom, then forget you ever did. No changing frequency, no profiles, no Undervolting, no flashing other kernels, just the ROM and nothing else needed. (and I'd discourage trying it)
I would change UV settings to work on most phones, and a small overclock (most likely a 1.1 or 1.2Ghz), as well a stock Frequency/Voltage version. and each version would be stable enough to use as a daily driver.
It would most likely be a 'Flavor of the week' kind of thing, and I'll most likely change the base rom/kernel somewhat frequently (like once a month at most) to what I'm using that's stable.
So, does this sound good to anyone, or am i building for a demographic that's not there?
I would use it if u make it for the photon

sounds like a great idea... in this trend of rapidly developing roms, a stable rom with recent source changes for a change is great to fallback to.

ive been programming in C/java for about 4 years now, (2nd year programming student currently) and ive been building my personal roms from source for about 6 months, and in the past few months ive started actively changing source code, integrating parts from some kernels and ROMs, and adding things to system apps (like voltage control and frequency mod in the settings.apk)
however, on the other hand, i do have fairly large gaps in my knowledge. i only barely know how to use github, and i haven't really dealt with the Linux/android kernel much before this.
honestly, on a scale from 1-10 (1=android user, 10= developer like Whitehawkx/Morfic) id say about 7.

i feel im a very competent programmer, but there are thing i am pretty much oblivious too. outside of android I've got a good portfolio of programs and source, but when it comes to android, I'm still learning. (and i definitely feel your more knowledgeable than me)
Do it one more person helping the community isn't a bad thing. You're obviously knowledgeable enough. Once you start playing with it and have a base crowd that likes what you do you'll get further involved and make a great rom in my eyes. You're willing to help everyone and give a very insightful solution to most and all types of questions.

Again there are different flavors to choose from and it also depends on what you use on your phone. Some bugs may show up days later.

All these guys are right cause there really is no right or wrong answer to your question. When it comes to custom roms its all about personal preference. What someone else really loves you may find out you don't like. So my advice is become a flashaholic like most of us here are and start flashing until you find that perfect custom rom that fits your needs and wants. Just remember to make a backup of your current rom before you start flashing anything that way you can always go back to what you have now. Oh and just so you will know design gears is about to release a new ics leak for the skyrocket soon according to his twitter account so you may want to wait and see what that is all about and the I'm sure plenty of custom roms will be based off of it soon as well... happy flashing...

It would probably be better to be more specific. A better question would be "which are roms are the most stable" or "which roms are the fastest" or maybe "Which rom has the most features?"
I personally am also trying to decide which rom to go with. I have a friend who owns a Skyrocket and he wants me to root the phone then flash a custom rom, so I'm looking into this. I think I'll probably flash Nexus Mod just because it looks like AOSP. Like many others, it has carrier IQ disabled and has been debloated.

+1 to sky ics for stability (iv flashed the aosp apps patch) it was giving me fc's on other roms but none on this one
nexusmod ics was good but the rom seems to start facing issues after a week of use (might be user error but others were also experiencing this) and also the rom has no further development as MOD has been bricked and has also moved to cm9.
AOKP - great rom that has just surfaced with some solid devs at work still has a few minor issues but this one will become a gem
cm9 - same as above, great dev support but it still has a few minor kinks to be worked out
The above post is right especially about cm and aokp
CM9 Skyrocket
The newish Slim ICS ROM is pretty good too. Gives you some AOSP apps and seems pretty stable and super snappy for me so far. But as others have said, just look at some of the ones with higher traffic and more recent posts and see what you like. Embryo is a nice one i you want a more stock exoerience. Dev is super responsive too. With the new leak and impending (hopefully) official release, they'll all be rebased anyway. TiBu Pro and nandroid are your friends.

Is any one still making roms for this device?

I know that making a rom takes a very long time but our device seems to only have 5-10 (maybe more) good/stable roms. every one else seems to be getting a lot more love. is it cause we have a miSense device?
Just because we don't have 30 CM9 roms with each a different name doesn't mean we don't have roms. It means we respect each others work and choose not to duplicate it and call it our own.

This. I honestly don't think we're lacking in types of rom that we have.
I mean, we have stock-tweaked, aosp, sense roms, CM roms, different versions of MIUI's. Hell, we even have JB in the making!
So, yes, they're still alive and making roms.
Well, the reason I don't complain is because I can't dev. There's just no time for it. Yeah I get jealous of other forums from time to time, but the alternative is learning how to make my own rom.
Better not to bite the hand that feeds you.
I personally think we have a group of great devs for this device who are very willing to share each others' work to benefit the community at large I am curious as to what TBalden has going right now cuz he's been awfully quiet lately.

I dont say much around here...but man oh man, i have to this time. First of all, a huge thanks to all the devs. I'd go by name but someone deserving would be left out...we may be short on kangs but we've got great roms. I'll take quality over quantity.
I had an ace previously. Dozens and dozens of roms, but they've just repeated themselves. There's only a handful of systems to be ported anyways.
Kernel development on this phone has been off the chains. Anything running on tbalden and kornyone's work has been smooth and slick.
Frankly, I knew when I got the phone that since sliders are kind of niche the scene would be smaller. Used the demo phone in the store to verify that cm was in a complete state. Which it most definitely is. Feeling pretty confidant that cm10/jb will reach completion.
Anyways, I'm probably gonna cry when this phone dies. Maybe you can sell me yours for a spare. Cuz if I ever have to turn mine in on insurance they'll probably try to hand me a different model.

It isn't anger you detect as much as it is frustration K7. What is plainly obvious to developers & other coders isn't so much to the rest of us just looking at the threads & available ROMs. I HAVE noticed though because of helping a friend out with an EVO 4G that many of the ROMs are little more than a redistributed but newly themed, customized & slightly altered versions of another popular ROM. Do that several times and you have 5 ROMs with little differences to the core program multiplied across 5 or 6 basic initial formats & you have plenty....kinda. If that was what was happening to the MT4Gs then we'd have 40+ ROMs 'listed' but few differences other than the new name.
This isn't meant to disparage any developers in other forums for other devices and it may very well be an isolated case but it is something I noticed.
Just my nickel's worth.....
I just don't understand the need to create new threads for topics that aren't new, insightful, or helpful

ROM battle: AOKP vs BEAM ROM

Which is best and why? Enter your experience and reviews please.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
We cannot justify that the Rom x is better than the Rom y, it depends on our own taste and way of using it.. sense our ICS base ROM's are under development as of this time,
and most of all we just need to provide them some log's in every issue we encounter so that they can work on it, in that way we can have a better ICS as ROM builds progress.. what we can do is to give thanks to our great dev's who work hard to give us the ICS,
but base on my experience i never encounter any issue in AOKP, specially on the latest build
Beam hands down. Smoother faster and better battery life. I think so anyways . But both are awesome!

I'm happy with AOKP, and I'll keep updating it (in fact I need to download the latest) but other than that, i'm done messing with this phone...

I was going to do something like this thread but for MIUI vs cMIUI. Then I thought that people would come telling that it's a personal thing, every ROM is great, they are all smooth and fast... and stuff like that. I think that the OP was asking for more than the general description. What really is it that made you choose that ROM over the other?
My choice here would be AOKP. I have used Team Acid's ROMs since forever, back in the Froyo days when ICBINB and Audiophiles were all over the place. I trust their work and it fits my personality. Constant support and never had an unsolved issue. My dad has been using Valhalla Black since it came out, I don't remember when. He thinks that it's the ultimate thing, still. So, that's enough proof that their work is awesome. Doesn't mean I don't like other development. I have used every ROM, mod and kernel here. Just my preference. Of course, AOKP is smooth, fast, stable, simple, no confusing apps (normal launcher), doesn't take much time to set up to my preferences and it has constant support and updates. But then again, every other ROM has it too. It's very hard to describe the choice, but I can't find other way to explain it.
No disrespect to other devs here. I know Erik, Thomas, Dao, Solrac, Anton and the others do an excellent job. In fact, I'm currently on cMIUI, not AOKP. But I have tried all other's and it's very hard to decided with which one to stay with.
Beam if you want speed and smoothness
aokp if you want customization
