Is there a way to use the HDMI out as an AV in? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi fellas,
I fly FPV and I wanted to use my Infuse to record the AV footage by splitting the video cable which goes to my monitor to my hdmi chord/dongle for the infuse.
The AV equipment has low resolution 640x480 if I'm lucky.
Would this idea work? There is no audio as my transmitter does not have a mic but If I could use a screen capture software on my phone to record my flights that would be fantastic. Is this possible? To use the HDMI dongle as an AV in to stream live video on my phone (assuming there is an app) basically using my phone as a DVR.
Thanks for any helpful response.

no but it would be cool to use a transmitter as reciever.... I mean if a PC needs a dedicated video capture device rather than the monitor-out going both ways then why would a cell phone be likely to work like that? if USB hosting gets figured out in the kernel and a USB video capture device was used the sure but the mhl is a 1 way device as far as anyone knows.
you may as well get a laptop and usb video capture card then copy the file to the phone.

Guess the laptop is as good as any it's a shame though
The transmitter that I was talking about is the transmitter on the aircraft transmitting the image which is being viewed on a monitor
I destroyed my gopro in a crash so I was looking for alternate solutions without having to buy anything as I am dirt poor
thanks a lot for your input

Any Device that supports video out as a seperate display?

Hi,
I was just wondering if there is a device out there that does video out, but can display a seperate program on the video out port?
I.e Have GPS running on the main screen of the device, while the device outputs a media play on the video out port. Sorta like extended mode on desktop PC's.
I know some in car GPS systems do this, but im wondering if theres any hand held devices that do this.
Any device you guys know of?
Thanks!

Captivate TV Out?

Has anybdy tried this yet?
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=accessories
Just wondering how it worked. Too bad it's not HDMI.
I tried it, worked for me. You have to enable it first in the TV-Out settings, and the yellow wasn't really the video one on my cable.
yea, there was a video somewhere showing it working. Just buy a $3 3.5" to RCA cable from ebay or radioshack
Seached on Google and Amazon has one for $1.29

Going to give it a try.
Worked fine for me, no problems at all! Quality was only OK but I'll try it again with a different video and see if that helps.
Is there a way to go from micro USB to HDMI or the jack to HDMI?
For the usb, no it has to have the wardware. For the jack, whats the point? The jack can only output standard definition video and going through hdmi would be pointless. You can use WiFi with DLNA to windows media center to play your HD.

except that I can't get DNLA to work Maybe I'll try another app that does the same as allshare
the video out works well, I'm glad that it doesn't use HDMI as I use it in my truck to my DVD/NAV system. It does seem that whenever I've connected the included ear buds to the phone I've had to go into settings and re-enable video out. No it's not high definition, but the quality is more than adequate for my purposes.

I plan on doing this exact same thing this weekend. I have the Alpine IVA-W205, and I think it would be cooler to have audio and video instead of just audio. Plus, I can actually see the navigation directions since I don't have Nav installed.

Mine is a kenwood DDX-8019, and I have the external NAV
A couple things to keep in mind if you are going to use the phone as a NAV device in your car ...
1. Get long enough cables that you can set your phone where it has the clearest view of the sky possible. I set mine in the tray molded into my dash. Which leads to ...
2. If you use the included micro USB cable with a power adapter you should be fine, but the door that hides the connection on the phone may be too small for many aftermarket cables. I have one that is fine at home, but doesn't provide a secure enough connection for me to trust it on the road.
3. Maps in my area are not 100% accurate, the parking lot where I work used to be part of a highway that has been re-routed, however the map does not reflect this. I have also found that on the 2 times I've tested it on my route to and from work that it will not give a route that includes HOV lanes. (there may be a setting for this)
4. Download the app and enable the turn by turn voice ... but do not rely on it, until you've had some time to get comfortable with it. I've found during my testing that voice prompting comes a bit later than I like at highway speeds, though in and around town it was fine. I don't know if your DVD reciever will allow you to, but I can display the video from the phone and listen to audio from any other source I have available.
5. The only way I have been able to take a call while using the video out function on the phone was to disconnect the 3.5mm jack, it seems that the audio from a phone call is muted, as is the microphone. I guess if it did work there would be no reason for anyone with an aux video connection to buy a bluetooth reciever.
I do not intend to use this as my primary NAV in my own vehicle because my GARMIN reciever is purpose built for it and is far more precise/has more options. BUT ... I will not be renting anymore NAV units from enterprise when I have to travel.

Streaming Video Without HDMI

I have an older TV without an HDMI port. Is there a way to stream video from my phone to the TV?
I believe this should do the trick:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-3-RCA-RGB-A-V-Component-Conversion-Cable-Male-/170659070304
And then you need MHL adapter for the phone:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-MHL-Micro-USB-HDMI-Female-Cable-Adapter-HTC-Samsung-S2-/150867197550
EDIT:
Now that I think of it Iam not sure how well thats going to play out. Its very likely that the resolution the phone puts out is too high and the image will be strecthed out of the screen.

[Q] Working on converting to android

so have a note2 and enjoying it... issue is getting media to my other devices. Currently I have an ipad1 sitting under my audio receiver connected via usb and it allows me to control spotify with my universal remote as if the receiver and ipad were one. I am thinking about buying a nexus 10 but I use my tabs for mostly media and ebooks. I want the sound and possible video (all streamed... spotify, netflix, google music, pandora) to somehow make it to my receiver and if it is video obviously make it to my tv. My receiver is a yamaha rx-373 (have a rx-473bl in the mail with networking abilities)
The solution I am looking at would preferably be something close to airplay or being able to connect my device through usb and control it with my universal remote or connect via hdmi but still charge my device. Ideal solution is being able to output everything over wifi to a receiver (maybe samsung allshare dongle) attached hdmi to my yamaha receiver. I just have no clue if that dongle will work with non samsung devices and if it will completely mirror my device.
Anyways this is what I am looking for and wasnt really trying to spend a bunch of money in trying things and paying return shipping on multiple things for what kind of knowledge probably is available here.

Mirror phone to tablet w/ full control from tablet?

Is there a way to mirror your phone to a tablet and be able to control the phone via the tablets touchscreen?
Kind of like in the mirrorlink for the car stereos.
Like here
Specifically what i want is to be able to use Gmaps, youtube and netflix etc. on the tablet without using tethering.
I have unlimited data on the phone but they want to cap my tethering.
I am looking into this because i am trying to set up a car stereo with android.
I have found all the android head units that work easily with my car but the reviews of their sound quality are very bad and they do not have any audio control. I am kind of an audio snob. There are a couple with some better built-in amps but they want 300$ and they are still pretty crappy.
So my idea is just bypass a head unit and run a tablet directly to a good DSP (digital signal processor). Preferably one with an amp.
This is an explanation of a DSP
(long video but very good)
This will allow me to stream all the audio directly to amps with a sound quality and that you just cannot get from a head unit.
And be able to have full control of the sound from the tablet itself via an app ((example later in the video).
Plus I could just mount the tablet with magnets and have a cubby behind it where the stereo used to be.
Im sure this question has been answered before but i just could not find a video or thread that properly answers it.
Thanks.
Hopefully this is in the right forum

Maybe, try the ScreenShare app, I think it can do this via Bluetooth but I don't know if it supports controlling the phones functions via the tablet.
I kinda doubt you'll find a way to do what you're looking for, but you might.
The only ways to do this are:
1) have both devices connected to the same WiFi network(this will not work when traveling unless you have some kind of mobile hotspot)
2) share your phone's network to the tablet which will count against your tethering limit.
