Is the 0.43pre v4 CM kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398512) only for use on the CM7 rom or can I use it with TPC v3?
I'm wondering because I flashed faux's kernel and my benchmark scores worsened. Should I go back to the kernel included with TPC v3 (Da_G's earlier build of 0.43) or flash the CM kernel?
Thanks!
Edit: I posted here because I don't have enough posts to post in the dev section on the proper kernel topic.
Only cm7 and MIUI exclusive. DO NOT FLASH IT WITH OTHER ROMS!

I see all these kernels for CM7 and EB and TW ROMs but none for stock ROM. I'm sticking on stock ROM for a while mainly due to the LG camera app which I love and my GPS is fully functional which I use frequently. I'd love to have an OC kernel or just a kernel in general to flash on the stock ROM. Does one exist that I didn't see in the dev section? Thanks!
you should try eaglesblood 1.0.4 froyo because that is pretty much like stock with some optimization. You can flash EB 1.0.4Froyo directly over stock without wipe, then apply the Trinity kernel. That works for sure because I tried it (what I did was stock --> eb 1.0.2 --> eb 1.0.4 froyo --> kernel, all without wiping)
you could also try the Trinity kernel for EB 1.0.4Froyo on your stock rom. (should work; I didn't try so make sure you have a backUP)

Any kernel that works for EB Froyo should work on stock froyo, and any kernel that works for EB Gingerbread should work for the leaked gingerbread. EB is just modified stock.
The main thing you don't want to do is use a kernel build for CM7 on some other rom or the other way around. CM kernel are completely unique and aren't compatible with anything else.
I've used the Trinity kernel for EB froyo with the stock rom and it was very smooth. The only bug I found was that it broke USB mounting.
Thanks for the reply guys, will give EB 1.04 FroYo a shot later on!!

Same reason why i wanted to stay stock when I was running CM7 I read some of the other threads and I'm now running EB froyo with the trinity kernel and I havent thought about going back.
You get to use the stock HD camera and record in HD which matters as well I have gotten better benchmarks averaging around 3200.
Hey everyone I'm kinda new to the whole kernel flashing business and I'm trying to flash the UV Trinity kernel to my Nexus S. From what I've read I only need to flash the zip from recovery without having to do any sort of wiping. The main problem when I tried this is that the phone went into a boot loop and wouldn't go past the boot animation for the kernel. I'm not sure if it's because the kernel is based off of 2.3.4 and I'm currently running CM-7.0.3. Morfic's thread indicated that the kernel was made for CM7 so I don't know what's going wrong here.

You have a ROM based on 2.3.3, meaning it's not compatible with a kernel made for 2.3.4.
Try flashing the latest cm7 and then the kernel.

Would it work if I tried a CM7 variant that's based off of the 2.3.4 source? I'm going for a stable phone and unsure about the nightly builds at this point. If not I'll probably just wait CM to update and release the rom.

MIUI uses an MIUI specific kernel, once your on it, don't flash any other kernels.
Search "galnet MIUI" on google, their latest weekly build should be up by tonight for the infuse. If not Galnet, you can use an MIUI build from HERE(this is the latest build of non-Galnet) or HERE(Some say this one is most stable)
Where can I find a miui kernel?
Its IN the MIUI rom you download...infuse doesn't have any modified MIUI kernels
Sent from my B.A. Infuse 4G
Yeah no need to flash a kernel because the miui rom has it built in when you flash it. And don't try flashing a different kernel when you're on the rom.
Google galnet miui. The latest build should be up later on. Hopefully.

So what rom do you flash this with if it won't work on any of the stock roms? I notice that the erikmm MIUI rom uses a non-MIUI kernel right now...
Eriks MIUI is sporting this kernel. It also works on Ravers MIUI.
