[Q] [Overclocking] Max Safe Speeds. - Motorola Atrix 2

I need some info from all of you OC'ing. I need to know your max safe clock speed. (the highest setting you can use with out locking up, mine seems to be 1225) I would assume our safe speed to be somewhere around 1122ish? Anyway, I need it so I can oc the next rom on boot. V4 is gonna have some big improvements..

I have my cm7 rom using the 1100, and I am getting ~1125 ish without issue right now.

Thanks again for all you do!

I had 2 lockups at 1200, dropped to 1100 and no issues.

Using the one click method I've run 1200 with no problems but using the optimizer at the same OC and don't see as good results and is erratic but runs fine at 1175. I believe moofree has been running 1275 using the optimizer with good results though so guess these phones are gonna have some variance in them.

I will PM it to you in the morning, I have it running, what seems to be pretty good right now. I have had to flash, test, fix, flash, some 4 times today to fix some oddities that I noticed. Hopefully if all looks good I will post it for everyone on Tues. or Wed.

hey guys, so new to the forums or any forum really. im still a bit of a noob so please be patient with me... so first question how did you get cm7 on the atrix 2 without an unlocked bootloader? second question is regarding...
Supercharged v3 rom
people keep posting that the webtop/mirroring isnt showing when hdmi is pluged in and i want to help.
i would post this in the developement section under supercharged v3 but since im new to the forum it wont let me. if someone could re-post this then that would be awsome! im just trying to help.
ANYWAYS! haha When the dev (lfaber06) made the v2 and v3 he forgot to include the portalapp.apk! so easy fix! i just applied the web top hack again through root explorer (i replaced both files in the webtop hack... i just wanted to make sure) and waa laa! it works again! At least it did for me!
Once again i appologize for not posting that in the proper section. like i said ive never done this before...
anyways i hope i could help!

I compiled the whole thing from source and separated the kernel and boot images from the rest of it, and "threw" them out, and created the ROM basically without the kernel and boot images.

Can't wait to get CM7!!!

If you are going to include a default overclock I would make it ~kinda conservative. I would think 1100Mhz would be a good one to include as default. However, personally, I am not really interested in overclocking until we can retain the clock speed ramping down when it's idle (as I understand it, when you overclock with the current method it locks the speed at the overclocked speed)

Ok, cool, that's awesome. Base 1100Mhz in the ROM with the tools to go faster if you want. That's what I'd do.

1100 would be a good default that should likely run on pretty much all the phones out there.
edit: I see 1122 in V4, that should probably be okay as well.

All CPU's are different. Some phones will have no problem running at 1.6ghz. Some will. It's a trial and error thing.
If you are worried, start conservative and work your way up.
would you say that overclocking your phone is worth it? i know that it can really improve the performance of the phone... but it greatly decreases the battery life... and vice versa u can lower it and increase bat life n lower performance. im looking at opinions also thanks for the reply!!

I personally have the Infusion kernel running on my phone, which allows me to OC my device, but I don't want to. I've come across no normal instance when I've found that I needed the extra power. I mainly wanted it so that I could undervolt (UV) which improves battery life.
Adding a custom ROM and also adding voodoo (most ROM's have voodoo) will increase the performance of your phone.
I'm running Infusion 2.0 on Infused 1.5.3 right now (waiting for GB HDMI capabilities...thanks AT&T) and I'm loving it.

Launcher Pro is a homescreen alternative. You can change things up, add different transition effects.
For instance, my homescreen is attached.

Mikey passed out 1-2 MIUI builds as a proof of concept on IRC a while back, but it took the existing problems with CM7 (MIUI is layered over CM7) and added new ones, so it's on hold until more of the issues with base CM7 get fixed.

There's no way you took your device to 1.8 - our devices can't go past 1.6 without overclocking the system bus, and the system bus does NOT like to overclock. The best anyone has done was around 1664 MHz and it was unstable as hell for a lot of people.
Some versions of Infusion reported operating at 1.8, but that's because bedwa made some mistakes in his PLL calculations - he thought those settings would run the CPU at 1.8 but they actually ran it at around 1.55

fastest anyone has reported to have gotten a hummingbird legitamately that i have seen was a kernel for the fascinate that had a really goofy timing stucture and had problems with other hardware. they reported the cpu running @ 1.7ghz with the gpu and bus at some really goofy speeds and fluctuated as the cpu scaled. it looked like a total mess.
Really the highest most people can go is 1.6 stable, which is what I'm running at.

Depending on which governor you choose. Scary seems to really keep tabs on it well. I'm at 1900/245 and when I run Scary the battery doesn't run down at all. I'm not a fan of the performance though, as it is too slow to react sometimes. Still working on the others, so no solid opinions yet.

I don't see why you would underclock your phone that slow... 245 is way too slow for a phone made to run default at 1ghz. You'll have screen wake issues and uber response problems... duh.. I don't see why ppl turn their smartphones into expensive paperweights just so they can extend battery life. I'd rather have a phone that computes efficiently than one that doesn't even want to process. 600 MHz min is just fine.
Sent from my Triumph using Tapatalk
245 would be the minimum clock speed, not the maximum My guess is that when your phone is asleep, it would use as little resources as possible.

Thanks.
I posted it here because I am asking about LG G2x users. In the script thread, you won't find questions about specific devices so much. It's more on how to install, what does it do, and so on.
I tried it didn't bootloop or anything but I didn't notice any difference in performance etc.
I just started using the V6 supercharger about a month and a half ago on my LG G2x and have loved it. before this i was running minfree to change presets but I like V6 because it has lots of options for those that don't fully understand what the presets do. If you use a low setting you probably wont notice much of a difference and I must say that I notice the biggest difference when I am overclocked and using V6 at the same time. If I'm not overclocked and using V6 I don't notice much. same thing when I am just overclocked without V6, not much of a diff. Both together seem to be great.
Also to those with boot loop problems - how long are you leaving your phone before you decide it has looped...a few times i have just had to walk away from my phone for 15-20 minutes just so I'm not tempted to pull the battery and every time i have left it alone i come back to everything running fast, smooth and stable.

Yeah, "I get a performance gain when I'm overclocked with the script, but get no performance gain without OC and the script" so that would be the placebo effect.
However, V6 SuperCharger does work very well at setting the right OOM groupings and also makes everything a lot smoother for me. I'm underclocked to 750mhz and get the performance of the stock 1ghz.

Eh, maybe, if you're on a lower end phone, I think the effect would be more noticeable as well, it would also be noticed if you ran alot of apps at once since multi tasking will take up more RAM than for someone like me who listens to music and browses the forum and maybe uses maps if I don't feel like paying attention to where I am at on the bus.

All true, but in hypocrats case it is complete placebo since he is using the lower setting.
He says he notices a performance gain with overclocking and the script, but none without overclocking and the script. Performance gain was all overclock.
But the higher settings work well, the script makes everything smooth, even for me at 750mhz, and will fix OOM groupings.
Maybe, but my battery life is better in standby and I have less issues with the stock internet browser. Below 100mb free and it became very buggy for me. I would love it if everyone shared what rom they are using and their settings. I am using close to the recommended settings.I am using New Clip (weapon based) and #5 unleaded.

[Report]9020T with Speedy 4 Kernel on AndroidMe v1.1.0

Hey guys,
Since I'm new here, I'm not allowed to post/comment in the Android Development forum, so I'm posting here.
My current ROM is AndroidME v1.1.0 by CdTDroiD
(By the way, I LOVE this ROM)
It's been really great but it seems like it doesn't really get along with new Speedy 4 kernel. I just flashed the kernel and it started acting funny since then.
I'm having lots of force closes and random reboots when overclocked to 1440MHz on my first attempt. After the factory reset/wipe and restore/reflash the kernel, it seems ok, but not quite sure it's stable.
Maybe it's because i overclocked it too much but i'm giving it a shot.
Now it's set to 1440MHz again and it's been working good for now.
this is just a reference.
Please advise me where to repost this when this section is not the right one to post this.
You can't really call it an 'issue' as Eugene himself has said Over clocking with his kernel isn't very stable. He doesn't overclock, and there's honestly really no need to..this phone is quite fast.

No, I just changed the Max frequency to 1440MHz
I've tried some combinations like 1000MHz + LiveOC 115%
but it all crashed.
So I set it back to 1440MHz, and no problems whatsoever.

you just have to type in the word "fix" in a search to see all the things that are jacked up with air

each phone is different and handles voltages and OC different so for you or anyone to say one kernel for a rom is better than another is completely idiotic, the best kernel for cm9 is the cm9 kernel unless u need performance in a certain area, thats where custom kernels can be better, reading the threads would tell you this so look who is the idiot now nub...
air kernel gets updated more than matrix so you really have no argument there...
air kernel gets updated more bc of all of the "fixes" and the develper's work is mostly copied from the work of other more talented people. and the OP here asked a question and we answered. your right that each phone is different. but i didnt see you take issue with the person who said that air kernel is more stable, or that cm9 kernel is good enough. they both also stated their opinions without the caveat which we all should know already, that each phone is different and the kernel that is best for one person is not necessarily best for another and that it really depends on your usage and customization preferences we should all know that by now. the OP just asked which was better and I think Matr1x is better. so now what
